Title: Wolf Hunt
Description: First Mercenary Job
Zeik - December 15, 2006 09:34 PM (GMT)
The village of Estolad had a very good feel to it. Zeik had been out of work for quite some time and was eager for any job he could take. The town was quite active for night time but Zeik wouldn't know what it was normally like since this was his first time visiting Estolad. Being a mercenary was a difficult job to find work for, or atleast thats how it seemed. Usually the only jobs he can find is easy jobs like killing animals and such. Every once in a while Zeik would get a big job for something huge but lately work was slow.
Up ahead was the local butcher shop. Sometimes butchers require meat from animals and its always a good place to start. Zeik pushed open the wooden doors to the shop and they gave off a slight creak. The butcher there at the time was an old man, yet, he was slightly large for what an old man should look like. His had a gray beard and rosy red cheeks.
"Hello there" Zeik said to the butcher. "I am looking for work."
The butcher took his time with responding. "Well I am in need of someone in the back room."
"Not that kind of work" Zeik responded sharply. "My talents are more towards the killing end of the buisness." Zeik was very shy of his work and did not like to speak openly about it.
"Ohh your a mercenary. Well I got a special order in today. Wolf meat but a very rare type. These wolves are larger than normal and will require a bit of muscle. Are you sure you can handle this job?" The said, describing the job in his deep, raspy voice.
"I think this job is suitable. What does it pay?" Zeik questioned.
"The pay depends on how many you bring back. The wolves are black and just arrived outside of town a week ago. You should be able to find them in a field or small forest." The butcher explained.
"Im sure I will be fine. Thanks." Zeik said.
Zeik was an excellent tracker and now he finally had a job. Zeik turned around and headed out the wooden door as the butcher went back to his work.
Atra - December 15, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
Atra had done his business in this town, eating food, gathering information and such things needed for a man in his stance, insane and all that as others would call it, but he preferred something a bit more to his liking; mental disturbance, but then again, that didn't sound much better. Now however he was on the way to the butcher, it was time to find out about the nearest beasts so he could decide where to walk without facing herds of vicious wolfs or such.
Lost in thought of weather or not steal some meat, he didn't notice the man just passing out of the wooden doors and he walked straight at him, shuffling him away from his path merely by hitting him since he was moving in a greater speed, he entered the butcher's without saying anything to the man, clearly he was very rude of himself, or maybe it was his 'mental disturbance', who could tell?
Now finally inside, he observed the different pieces of meat, some even without label, he had indeed stumbled upon a poor town, but then again, better than nothing. He took a large piece of meat from the open desk and put it within his big coat, under layers and layers of wired coat that spun around himself. Now, ready with the theft, he clang the bell placed on the desk, the bell was also a proof that this village had little money, it was grey and very rusty, the sound it emitted was close to nothing as well.
The butcher came quickly, probably hoping for the few costumers that passed by. "Butcher, would you be so kind to map the passing animals on my map here? I would like to avoid trouble on my way throughout the country, it will only take a second." He explained, bringing up his map and placing it upon the desk in front of him.
As expected, the butcher was a kind fellow and marked them on his map, after a few seconds, he decided to leave with the meat and the map, as he had no further business with this shopkeeper. "Thank you, sir." Was his last words before he opened the door outside.
Zeik - December 21, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Zeik rushed through the town to get to its exit. It was a simple task that he was given, track some wolves. The air was crisp as night started to decend on the small town. Once nightfall hit it would be easier to track the wolves since nightfall was prime hunting time for them.
As Zeik neared the edge of the town he started to hear howls. This was the perfect signal he needed to start the tracking process. As he reached the edge of the town he started to think of how to go about this. On one hand the wolves would be in a pack, making speed and quick reflexes a crucial aspect of the hunt. On the other hand defeating the leading wolves of the pack first would make killing the rest of them much simpler. His choice of weapon and strategy would ultimately lead to his success.
He then decided speed would be his method of killing the wolves. He withdrew his dagger and began tracking the wolves. The sounds came from the northeast of the town, near a heavily wooded area. Woods were good, that meant he could use the trees as cover and a method of a suprise attack.
Zeik headed up towards the forest and started looking for a set of tracks. Wolves are easily tracked by their footprints over anythng else. Although they have common footprints they are still easier to find over other things like urine and corpses. Up ahead growling was heard, the hunt was on. Zeik grasped onto the nearest, easily accessable tree and began to climb. At the top of the tree he gazed towards the pack. The wolves had killed two deers and the pack leader was now feasting apon its corpse.
Zeiks almost lost his balance as he saw the immense size of their leader. He was a large gray wolf with claws the size half of his dagger. The kill would be practically impossible to do alone. Zeik decided to wait and hide in the trees for the wolves to sleep, then he could successfully kill this immensive wolf.
Konquest - December 22, 2006 11:19 AM (GMT)
Ezekiel wandered through the the already darkened forest. The sun had just hit the horizon and casted a pleasing blanket of light over the treetops, creating a dazling display of dancing shadows upon the soil beneath his feet.
As he passed through a line of blueberry bushes, Ezekiel noticed a foul smell penetrating his nostrals. Two decaying bodies of deers lay on the bloodstained soil. Ezekiel walked towards the animals, and examined the bitemarks on the neck. Wolfs.. A commen event. However, one of the deers was so badly misformed that the killer must have been either starved.. or huge..
Trained in many edges of the world, Eziekel learned to control fear. Even now the fangs of a killer-sized wolf were noticable in one of the bushes. It's mouth breathing deeply, creating small plumes of white smoke as it exhaled. Ezekiel drawed his sword and using his great agility, he leaped away, seeming to melt with one of the shadows that was casted down by a tree. As silent as he could, he climbed the tree. Hoping for the wolf to grow tired, and leave it's pray, in search of another. However, the tree seemed occupied by another traveler. One carrying a large dagger, marking his skills with small arms.
"Nice few up here, no?" Ezekiel said to the man. He held his sword in the man's back, with the tip slightly penetrating the his clothing.
Atra - December 22, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
Now with a silent lust for some kind of blood, his hands grasped each other to almost break bones, when these times came, times of blood lust, there was little he could do but remove his mind from it, if it was necessary, he would have to create pain. Even if it was slight. After this incident, he decided to head towards the woods, as from what his own map said, there was supposedly a road through that place and into another highland, one of to many.
It didn't take long for him to get ready, he just went outside and started leaving, he hadn't much to carry, but a simple sword and a big piece of bloody meat under his stained cloak. One big piece of meat that might actually prove life-saving, or perhaps even death bringing. It all depended how it was used. It didn't take long until the thing before him was a pack of wolves. Apparently he had gotten lost again, he knew he should have bought a map that was a little more detailed than the other one he was carrying.
The bloods before him growled and drooled blood, they had eaten already, but they could still have more in their big stomachs, especially the enormous one that leaped out of the bushes, truly a strong leader for the average pack of wolves. However, even the strongest could be afraid. He chuckled a bit before smashing his hands together, nothing seemingly happened, or so it would seem. For what really happened, was only visible to the beings effected by the spell. All that was around the beings were strong flashing lights and whips that kept on whipping them, until they backed away. Only then did the spell remove itself, and Atra continued to move on.
Ells - December 23, 2006 03:26 PM (GMT)
The forest was quiet, except for the cries of the birds as they flew past. It seemed peaceful but Tilith could easily ruin that, it had seemed that his treasure had been taken while he was out hunting for food. All people were the same to him, all wanting treasure, all wanting power. It made him feel sick to know that people stole from others. Even evil shouldn't be as bad as to steal the treasure of the dragon without even a lamb in it's place for them to eat.
Selfish people don't deserve to live he always thought. His thought was proven time and time again when he was young.
The trees shook and his feet moved and brids flew away as his tail moved. Most things were scared of a dragon, they didn't understand how these creatures could breath fire, water, posion or any other element. Humans wanted to kill Dragons, almost like they were xenophobic but only with dragons. All Mortals were weird, they fought against themselves and against other races. It seemed only now that things were calmer and that they only fought against what they thought was evil.
He moved deeper into the forest, there were more trees now and he would have to destroy them if he wanted to get to anywhere. The tail destroyed from the behind and the body from the front. creatures living in those tress ran as fast as they could, some not making it. A path of destruction was carved in the forest and marks of the dragons claws were engraved into the ground.
The dragon got closer and closer to a village, it seemed that they did not notice him. Tilith opened his mouth and roared, hopefully startling the villagers. he stoped before he got to the edge of the forest. He looked at the village before moving closer, his nostrils breathing smoke out. He stopped about 50 meters away from the town and started breathing out smoke. He was making a message to the towns people. He blew it away to the village , all of it moving in a perfect formation of what it was like. It stopped in the middle of the village. It had words on it which read.
"To the people of this village, give me your treasure and i'll leave you, if not then I will be forced to fight your strongest people."
He wasn't much of a threatening dragon , they were simply villagers. But all people start small and a village was as smalkl as he could think of.
Zeik - December 24, 2006 04:30 PM (GMT)
Zeik pressed one of his fingers to his lips to tell the man to be quiet. Wolves have excelent hearing and any unusual noise could scare them off or make them alert to us. Some animals have been known to climb trees and Zeik didn't want to be around to see if these wolves could.
A new man appeared into the picture and he was doing a good job of distracting the wolves. Zeik nodded at the man beside him and withdrew his dagger. Zeik crouched carefully on the tree and then jumped off. Falling fast he managed to land right on one of the wolves. Zeik placed his dagger right below the wolfs neck and slid it across. Zeik the jumped off as the wolf fell to its side, bleeding everywhere.
Suddenly large stomps were heard in the forest. In the distance you could hear the trees falling. This snapped the wolves out of their fear. Quickly the large wolf turned around with his large gaze right on Zeik.
Konquest - December 25, 2006 10:18 AM (GMT)
Ezekiel, still high in the safety of the trees waited for the right moment to unleash his suprise upon the wolf leader. The huge wofl, who was focusing on the mercenary, growled as he showed his fangs to the world. Almost as if he was saying; Get in my belly. As the stealthy wolf approached it's prey, Ezekiel launched his sword downwards. The tip of the sword sliced the beast from one side of it's body downwards. Creating a huge bloodgushing gap near the it's side. For a second the wolf lost balance, giving Ezekiel the chance to strike again. However this time, it was not the beast that got hit. Another wolf leaped over it's leader, making impact on Ezekiels left arm. However the price the beast had to pay was far greater. For a red liquid dripped of it's chin. Underneath the red liquid, a huge gap, another exit whole near the critters eye.
Ezekiel leaped away, behind the wandering mercenary. His lips spoke unknown arcane words.. His body seemed to dance on every word.. A red glow appeared above the wound, as it slowly turned to skin and flesh. Ezekiel raised his sword high. "Come on then beasty."
Atra - December 28, 2006 06:03 PM (GMT)
Atra had not made it far until some fool had dispelled the fear, if he had only been a bit earlier, as he got scratched in the face by a wolf, leaving bloody marks all over that quickly squirted out massive amounts of liquid, however, he could manage. He pulled up his katana and cut through the whole wolf in one slash. As the two pieces landed on the ground, he had already leaped upon the tree's side, from here he bounced of and another cutting slice came, through another wolf. Turning around quickly he landed his legs on the bark, with a crash so loud, you could almost hear his bones cracking. He was not in shape for this, and so his bones would be damaged with minor damage for a while after this exercise. With a dark war roar he cut through another one, but this time, his legs have become too weak and he had to take forth his arms to top the speed against another tree. As his hand's skin scraped of on the bark, he pushed away himself so that he could land in a fighting position. Now while the wolves were distracted by the speed he had reached, he decided to attack once more.
With a dashing rush he leaped into the battlefield once again to cut into the internal organs of several wolves, injuring them far too greatly to fight. "Idiots, I could have been spared this fight." He said coldly, not wanting to fight even though he surely knew how. He had seen too much of fighting, however, these were just wolves, nothing too severe. Now there were only a few more wolves left, and also the big wolf, the pack leader of these weak beasts. However that one would cause some trouble. Now done more than his part, he decided to slowly back until he stood at a safe distance to counter whatever attack they could create... But then again, maybe there were wolves hiding in the bushes...
