Kitsu-Chan - December 10, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
Night had fallen a little too quickly for Kitsu, she wasn't even at the city yet and it was already high time she was there, since morning she'd been walking south all day and hadn't come across a single thing to eat or drink, let alone any body. She stopped and sat down to catch her breath and get rid of the cramp in her legs, walking around in the middle of nowhere did not suit her one bit. She lay back farther thinking about going to sleep and maybe starting again tomorrow, but if she spent another day here she might go insane, lack of company will do that to a person.

She rolled over onto her front sighing deeply, suddenly one of her ears pricked up and caught the sound of hooves, wheels and god knows what else. Carefully she sat up and looked about, coming in her general direction were several carts pulled by horses and with a man sitting behind them on each one. She blinked and studied them closer, whatever they were doing it was heading in her direction, she quickly hid behind a conveniently large rock imbedded in the ground.

She peeked over it and watched as the wagons rolled by, she looked into the back of the last one, they were transporting several barrels full of something to somewhere, but none of these Kitsu knew though, until one of the men spoke.
"C'mon, we've got to get this wine to Lómëdor by tomorrow, step on it!" He yelled.
Kitsu's ears pricked up again and both turned in the man's direction; if they were going to Lómëdor then this might be her chance to skip out on all that walking she had been forced to do lately.

As the last one rolled past her she darted out from under the rock and ran silently over to nearest wagon and leapt up onto it landing without a sound, pretty convenient having cat-like attributes where you sneak around allot. She immediatly hid in the thick of the barrels and lay down to get some sleep.

Rue Light - December 11, 2006 11:41 PM (GMT)
Too bad somebody else already thought of that. Rue was on the other side of the same barrel as Kitsu Chan. He ducked his head and tried to sit still when she came in: thinking she was one of the riders. Maybe it would be better, he thought, just to fess up and maybe, if he was lucky, he wouldnt be punished. Rue was sweating. Rue slowly began to push off the cart's floors with his arms when oops! the other person quietly sat down nearby and hid. He sat back down nervously. After an awkward slow minute of quiet breaths, he lifted himself up on the lip of a barrel and peeked over at the form.

Kitsu-Chan - December 12, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
Kitsu settled down to sleep oblivious to the person on the other side, she looked down again at the amulet around her neck in curiosity, since getting it she’d never actually worked out what it was for, she’d considered getting rid of it but something was holding her back. She looked up again and leant against the barrel wondering how long the journey would take she couldn’t risk more than three or four days in here.

Feeling a little exhausted she tried to get to sleep and ignored the sound of the wheels rolling over the ground, the men muttering to each other and the faint sound of movement that she couldn’t only hear when she strained her ears.
Hey wait? Moving?
She listened again but only heard the men talking to each other, and the horses grunting.
Weird, Kitsu thought I could have sworn I heard something else

Setting the thought aside she leaned back against the barrel again and looked upwards not expecting to see the face peeking over it. She almost spoke but clapped her hand over her mouth quickly and looked back down, from what she saw of whoever it was he didn’t look much older than her, and the lack of voices made her come to the conclusion that he wasn’t telling anybody she was here. She turned around and got up onto her knees looking carefully over the lip of the barrel being careful not to let anyone see her, if somebody else was hiding here at least she wouldn’t be by herself.
“Hello?” She said as quietly as she could.

Rue Light - December 12, 2006 06:50 PM (GMT)
"Hello?" the little cat girl had said.
Rue fell back onto his knees again, restraining laughter. His muffled snickers became harder and harder to hold back until he fell on his side from behind the barrel, holding his stomach and lying on his bag, and into clear veiw of the feline girl. He had been so scared, it was so ironic. The cat had looked just as nervous as himself.
The boy sat up straight again and realized self-consciously how foolish he must look and worried about being caught. He was glad it was dark. He sat silently and awkwardly on the floor again, jolted by the wagon oocaisionally.

Kitsu-Chan - December 12, 2006 09:18 PM (GMT)
Kitsu was expecting the answer she got, if it could be classed as an answer, the boy clutched his stomach and tried to hold off a fit of giggles much in the same way she usually did after stealing from right under a person's nose. He fell on the floor trying to contain his laughing. Kitsu's expression changed from nervousness to slight annoyance at this. Hopefully he wouldn't let go and alert the person driving that he had some unwanted company.

Never mind him, I could probably take him down in a second.
Kitsu jolted slightly at her own thought, or maybe it was the wagon rolling over a rock or something, but that was defiantly not something she'd normally think, it wasn't even her voice. She looked back down at the boy who seemed to be recovering from his fit of the giggles, Kitsu remembered feeling a little annoyed at him and put a finger on her lips to make sure she got the point across.

Seolfur - December 13, 2006 01:59 AM (GMT)
Sorry accedentally posted with my other character. Must remeber not to do that.

Rue Light - December 13, 2006 02:03 AM (GMT)
The little cat girl grew annoyed, and it was even funnier. Rue sat with a huge smirk as the girl shushed him. He thought the pout was just hilarious. He leaned lazily back against a barrel, and it tipped a little to lean on the side of the wagon. Rue could hear the liquid inside glug and he enjoyed the noise. He sat to watch the girl's reaction again. But suddenly then, *crack!* the flimsy wall splintered sickeningly from the weight of the barrel. Rue quickly sat up again with a look of surprize and fear as the barrel clomped to the floor again. The wall was dented and splintered, but what worried him more was the sound it made.

Kitsu-Chan - December 13, 2006 04:49 PM (GMT)
Kitsu was getting irritated by the boy's smirk already, she sat back and drew her legs up to her chest and crossed her arms over them, as long as she was hiding in here she couldn't actually talk to him in case the man driving found them and god knows what he'd do. Kitsu felt like trying to fall asleep again, she leant against the wall and closed her eyes ignoring the wheels bouncing over stones and rocks underneath, she thought about the voice in her head a few moments earlier, it wasn't her thought so there must be something else in her mind.

Maybe if she tried to find out what it was then the time might go by faster, but it didn't seem to pop up again. She opened her eyes and gazed upwards in a daze letting go off her legs and letting them slip along the floor slightly, and wonder about the world in general. A crack suddenly sounded from nearby, she looked around and saw that the wall had splintered. Quickly she ducked behind a barrel and concealed herself as best she could as the driver looked around to try and find the source of the noise.
Look's like I need to take over.
"Huh?"

Rue Light - December 13, 2006 10:55 PM (GMT)
Rue himself desperatly scrambled behind a barrel toward the front of the cart. He sat very still and timid again as the driver called to the horses and the wagon slowly stopped moving. Without the sounds of the wagon things suddenly seemed quiet. He could hear men speaking and horses whinneying and boots clicking on stone roads. Every breath was deafening as Rue listened to what the men were talking about, but then he realized there were more than two. Maybe ten or eleven mumbled or distant conversations were melding into eachother. And there were hooves, but they were also distant. And there was more noise. It sounded like a city was outside.
And then Rue felt like hitting himself in the head. Duh!
They had reached Lómëdor. Rue sat anyway, still afraid of being caught.

Kitsu-Chan - December 14, 2006 08:40 PM (GMT)
Kitsu held her breath holding tight onto the first things she could reach, which was the amulet around her neck, and held on tight hoping they wouldn't turn around and look in. But they didn't seem to be doing anything like that, they were just talking. Kitsu raised one ear and caught a little of the conversation.
"Probably woodworm," one of them said, she couldn't tell which one "good thing we reached here before it broke through."
"Bah, you just rocked the thing about too much,"

Kitsu blinked, judging by the conversation the were in Lómëdor, she risked a quick peek over the top of the wall and took in what she saw, although it was dark the streets were lit with lamps and people were walking about and bustling without a care in the world and talking at random in several languages she's never heard, she was so caught in awe by the sight that she didn't noticed one of the men begin to turn round, suddenly she felt her heart burn and she dropped down in time to avoid the man's gaze, the burning stopped.

The sound of scraping came from the wagon in front as the men unloaded the barrels, either they would have to get out of here or get caught by the men. Kitsu smirked slightly, she'd never been caught in her life and she wasn't going to start now. She crawled over to the other side away from the men and looked up quickly, they all had their back turned so she vaulted over the wall and landed silently on the ground before ducking beneath the wagon and crouching low below it waiting for them to finish, she looked up wondering if the boy was attempting something similar.

Rue Light - December 14, 2006 09:19 PM (GMT)
Rye realized also that he needed to get out of the wagon, and swiftly. The little cat girl (as Rue only know her) had already spirited off easily. Rue had much less time, and even fewer options. He envied the cat's agility: the men were already clomping towards the last cart in the row.
Rue desperatley tried his least favorite tactic; "hope they dont notice." He slid to the end of the cart and stood up on the road, pretending to be just an unrelated passerby. He immediatly started walking away back towards the city heart at an even place, trying to the best of his ability to look distracted and unaware of the wine carts completely.
Rue thought it worked, but he wasn't going to risk looking back towards the cart to find out. He started to search the crowd for cat-girl, he wanted to meet her.
Not many shops were open; it was late at night and mostly salty taverns and late-night inns were open. Maybe he could find a place to stay with her.

Kitsu-Chan - December 15, 2006 09:14 AM (GMT)
Kitsu crouched low beneath the caet waiting for her chance to make a break for it, the men finnally stomped over to the cart she was under and began to unload it muttering and grumbling about overworking. Kitsu looked about, she spied a small pebble on the ground next to her and picked it up, she hurled it at one of the barrels and knocked it slightly, the men turned about at the noise and Kitsu dashed out from under her hiding place and into the nearby crowds, trying to blend in as much as she could with cat ears and a tail poking out.

She sighed in relief and looked about for something to do, the streets were allot more crowded than she would have liked, and nobody seemed to pay attention if they barged her out of the way or trod on her foot. Grumbling slightly she wandered about wondering where the boy had gotten to, if he was still in the cart then the men would catch him.

Rue Light - December 15, 2006 03:03 PM (GMT)
Rue slowed his mind down and stopped moving to concentrate. The crowd around him seemed randomly spiral around him in a confused way, and he realized there was no way to find cat-girl while he was still on it. He looked down to see that he was still on the road. He peered up: there were streets in all four directions, north, south, east, and west, and he could see four two story corners of buildings that signified he was in a city square. Tall, iron street lamps fueled by oil lit the square from each corner, along with light out the doors and windows of the buildings, and all but the brightest stars were blurred out. He turned back to the wooden carts finally, and saw the burly men lugging the barrels that use to be his hiding place out of the cart, and rolling them down a wooden ramp to the wine cellar of the salty tavern on the southwest corner. Little Cat-girl was nowhere to be seen.

Inspiration blessed Rue. He pushed and slid through the crowd (that smelled like sweat, blood, perfume, vomit, and alcohal) to the thick, black painted base of one of the tall street lamps on the corners. He wrapped his arms around it and shimmeyed. The surface was rough and his arms were scraped and pink. He eventually made it up to the top, and his head spread a shodow over the square. The light flashed in his eyes and his head felt warm being so close to the fire. He focused intently on the crowd until the spots from the bright lamp in his vision dissolved.
There she was!

Kitsu-Chan - December 15, 2006 04:20 PM (GMT)
Kitsu wandered about looking around in awe at the sights before her, normally a city or village would be deserted by now and completely empty, but this one was full of life left right and center even at this time. Speaking of the time Kitsu looked upwards seeing where the moon was, it was about 3/5s of the way across the sky which meant it should be midnight in a couple of hours. She wandered about ignoring the stares from people and the muttering about her ears and tail poking out from behind her, she pretended not to hear the muttering though.
Man, you'd think people had never seen a Kitsune before she thought slightly irritated.

She stopped and leant against a wall to catch her breath and get a little rest, it would be damn near impossible to sneak into anywhere with a crowd like this out all the time, which made it that more risky and that more fun. Trying to thin of something to do she decided to go and looked for the other person hiding in the cart with her; she pushed herself off the wall and wandered about looking for him, she didn't manage to get a good look at him but most people in the crowd were adults so he should be easy to spot if he wasn't already somewhere else. She looked up and saw him clinging to the top of one of the oil lamps lighting the street. She looked up at him slightly bewildered.
"Que?" She muttered "what are you doing up there? Pigeon spotting?"

Rue Light - December 16, 2006 08:14 PM (GMT)
"Ummm, sure." Rue said. He was more than a little embarassed, but it did work, didn't it? He let hiself fall, and landed hard on flat feet with his legs bent. The cool, moving air felt as he fell felt good because it was so warm in the city. Actually, he realized, the thick warm air was strangling him.
"Do you have a place to stay?" Rue asked, "Im kinda stuck." He hadn't thought about how wierd it would be to ask that.

Kitsu-Chan - December 19, 2006 04:16 PM (GMT)
"Ummm, sure." The boy replied seemingly at a loss for what to say, however he climbed down to the ground again in front of Kitsu.
"Do you have a place to stay?" He asked "I'm kinda stuck."
Kitsu shook her head.
"We only just arrived here, remember, I don't even know where I can stay," she sighed a little looking around.
It was hard to make out much detail about the place, as most of what she could see were people running about doing random things, and pretty much all of them were taller than Kitsu and made it completely impossible to see over them.
"I wasn't actually planning on staying anywhere," she muttered unsure of why she was saying it "I wanted to stay up for a while but now I'm not so sure, I mean this place is crowded."
