Title: Washed Up Darkness

Phedre - March 27, 2004 06:11 PM (GMT)
Alone in her thoughs Phedre sat, overlooking the ocean before her. Her usual black leathered boots were in the sand beside her and her sea tossed hair was pulled back into a tight bun. Her brother's sword laid across her lap and her eyes closed. The pain of that night enveloped her body again and anger surged through her veins.

She jumped to her feet and screamed her frusteration, throwing her blade beside her boots. She walked to a shattered wooden raft and pulled the rest of her gear from its top. She settled her gear up on her body and snapped the bade at her waist once more. The salty air brushed across her face, fighting to pull her raven black hair from its hold.

How is an assassin supposed to get work when there's no one to kill, she thought looking around the deserted beach. This place looks promising... Even her mind was sarcastic.

She took one more look, back and forth and debated whether she should transform to stretch her limbs.

Raku - April 3, 2004 01:48 AM (GMT)
He walked up to the shore looking at the sea which seemed endless. He thought deeply about the possible future.

Then he heard a scream which broke his concentration. He walked in the direction of the scream. He smiled as he walked. He was so happy someone was in pain as he liked to see people suffer. As he walked he came to see a girl.

he walked a little closer until he was about thirty-feet away from her. Shadows surrounded him and the ground beneath him. "Having some problems are we?" His cloak shifted from side to side in the wind. His evil eyes stared at the girls' eyes , as he waited for her response.

Phedre - April 3, 2004 04:44 AM (GMT)
Phedre paused in med stretch and looked at the cloaked stranger. She glanced over to her shoulder to her weapons and saw them at an unreachable distance.

Why didn't I hear him... she thought, her back to him.

She changed her nose to the nostils of a dragon for only long enough to get a smell of him.

A God? Great... Assassin meets a God... Wonder who'll win.

She sighed and held her hands behind her back as she turned to face him, a devilish smile on her lips. Her fingertips turned to silver dragon talons, hidden behind her.

"Problems?" she replied cooly, "None a God should worth noting," she shrugged.

Raku - April 3, 2004 06:03 PM (GMT)
He smiled at her with the same smile that she had given him.

The shadows around him moved into different shapes many looking like some-sort of creature. Then the shadows stopped moving and started of toward her slowly until they reached her feet.

"Why do you keep your hands hidden, after all what can you hide from a God" He smiled evilly at her. His pitch black eyes focused on her eyes.

Phedre - April 3, 2004 06:36 PM (GMT)
She let the talons sink back into her hand and brough them infront of her, resting them on her hips.

"So God," she said mockingly, "What's this you're trying to pull with the shadows?"

She smiled mischeviously kneeling down to stare closer at them, her eyes unreadable, but all too aware of her surroundings.

"An assassin supps on shadows... on horrors and fear. The smell it all, and breath it in. You're little friends don't frighten me, they intrigue me, and play with my imagination."

Hpft, some God.

Raku - April 3, 2004 06:51 PM (GMT)
"I am not trying to pull anything, please forgive me."He said with a frown.

"But i think someone should watch their mouth, after all I could kill you if i wanted you dead, however I like assassins." His eyes stared right back into hers.

"And one as beautiful as you must be very good at her work."

Phedre - April 3, 2004 07:06 PM (GMT)
She flicked the corner of a shadow and stood again, a smile danced on her lips. Strands of her hair fought their way from their hold and brushed in raven black strands across her face. She approached him slowly and bowed to him.

"Thank you," she said earnestly, her opinion of his beginning to change.

"It is hard now-a-days to find appreciation for an assassin." She smiled again, her violet eyes slightly brighter than normal. She rose from her bow and watched him, intrigued.

She raised an eyebrow and bit her bottom lip, continuing to watch at him under dark eyelashes. "It would seem, that you do your job quite well also, seeing the position our world is in."

Raku - April 3, 2004 07:17 PM (GMT)
"Thank you" he replied. His shadows withdrew from around her back to him.

"I understand what you mean assassins are always being feared and hated for killing, but when someone kills in the name of good everyone cheers for them"

He smiled, his hood fell back to his back. His face now shown, his grey skin almost hid the glyphs on each cheek.

"So if you dont mind me asking why did you scream?"

Phedre - April 3, 2004 07:25 PM (GMT)
She watched him with soft eyes, a smile reappearing when she saw his face. She had an urge to run her finger ofer the glyph but resisted, instead pulling her jet black hair loose from its hold and letting it run across her face.

Someone understands? she sighed, looking up at him again, too bad he's a God... you can't really befriend them...or anything... can you?

Hmph, friends.... her conscience had returned, friends to stab you in the back and slice out your emotion.

She shugged, thinking of an answer to his question.

"It's hard for an assassin to find work where there;s no one to hire, and nothing to kill." She smiled mischeviously her eyes flashing a moment.

I wonder if he knows....

Raku - April 3, 2004 07:39 PM (GMT)
He sat down on the shore his arms sat on his knees as he let the water hit his cloak.

"If I ever need to hire an assassin it will be you." He smiled. His eyes stared at the water.

His glyphs started to pulse from black to grey. "I like this ocean it calms me, how about you?" He looked up at her and stared into her eyes.

Phedre - April 3, 2004 08:15 PM (GMT)
Phedre smiled looking down to him, "I thank you. I will honour the job, undoubtably." Or you could just hire me as your personal assassin and I will never be out of work.

She closed her eyes, facing the ocean, and let the breeze carress her eyelids. She opened them slowly and looked back down at him with her dark violet eyes.

"May I join you?" she asked reffering to sit beside him. It was rude to just sit next to a God without permission... and disrespectful, and she help him in high regard.

Her fingers still itched to touch the glyphs on his cheeks but she resisted once more.

Raku - April 3, 2004 08:50 PM (GMT)
"You may, thanks for respecting me, but I dont care you may do as you wish." He smiled at her and the laid back and closed his eys.

"This place is relaxing." He rose back up and open is eyes. "However I still prefer a dark place with evil about it, it reminds me of my old home." He sighed. "Though that was before your time, so enough of that."

"You know i prefer necromancy over assassin, but i hold assassin in high regard." He looked into her eyes. "I need a personal necromancer that would be great."

He looked back toward the water "Though there aren't many around now a days, they are usually shunned for practicing magic to bring back the dead sometimes they are killed even the few good necromaners."

The glyphs pulsed even more now as they turned to a grey that blended with his skin.

Phedre - April 3, 2004 08:59 PM (GMT)
She sat down and hugged her knees to her chest, looking out over the water. She thought about every word he spoke and let it sink in before questioning.

"Can someone be taught to be a Necromancer?" she asked softly, his dark eyes unblinking.

Why am I drawn to him?

She glanced over to him and smiled again, runing her hand through her dark hair. She sighed and returned her gaze back to the water, the sun was now setting on the horizon. Her muscles were still stiff and sore, but she didn't dare transform infront of him... once people saw her in her other form they automatically thought differently of her, she didn't want that at all.

Raku - April 4, 2004 05:22 AM (GMT)
"Well yes, but necromancy is very hard to learn when you aren't born into it, much less master it."

He smiled at her, then noticed that her muscles seemed tired, that they contracted different than that of a relaxed person. He didn't ask her if she was tired though.

"Why do you ask about necromancy, after all you already have one job." He gazed into her eyes.

Phedre - April 5, 2004 01:49 AM (GMT)
She nodded.

But I'm willing to learn... I'm willing to try... but why? I don't even know what compells me...

She stared back into him own dark pools of eyes, a smile dancing on his lips.

"Yes, that's right, I have a job." She sighed running her hand through her hair, "but no one is hiring and there's only so much work in one place... I wouldn't mind a second job... and one which is needed...."

She looked away, not explaining to his fully. She sighed, trying to rest her weary frome on her knees without looking weak or exhausted.

Raku - April 5, 2004 10:45 PM (GMT)
"Well consider yourself my personal assassin." He smiled at her then gazed deeply into her eyes.

He then turned away, then looked at the ocean.

"And I would be willing to teach you necromancy that is if you want to learn." He focused on the water as he waited for a response.

Phedre - April 6, 2004 02:00 AM (GMT)
She looked at him, her eyes wide and her jaw slightly dropped in shock.

"What really? Are you serious? Did you just hire me AND offer to teach me?!"

She ran her hand through her hair, her screaming muscles numbing over in excitement.

"I'd love to!" she cleared her throat unable to look him in the eye. Her cheeks were pink and flushed.

"I mean... If your Grace wishes..."

Her heart pounded till it deafened her, blood pulsing through her viens.

Raku - April 6, 2004 10:14 PM (GMT)
He smiled at her. "Well I don't make jokes, so yes I did offer you a job and to teach you." His glyphs pulsed till they went from white to black.

"So I expect you to be ready for your training and work." He stared at her eyes, with his souless ones.

"Well are you up to the challenge?" His cloak seemed to be dry even though it was still in the water. He stared back into the water as he listened for a response.

Phedre - April 7, 2004 12:09 AM (GMT)
She looked at him her face straight and her eyes a shadowy violet, almost black, blending in with her raven colored hair.

"I am more than up for the challange," she breathed softly, the excitememnt still pulsing through her viens.

She shifted her position until she faced him. "When do we begin?"

Questions raced through her head, but she decided to get the biggest one out of the way first.

Raku - April 7, 2004 12:53 AM (GMT)
He looked into her eyes. "I think you should answer that one, after all I shall start whenever you want to."

He looked in the water. "So you just let me know when you are ready, and I can see you are excited, but not today unless you really want to."

"Also I might have some jobs for you soon."

Phedre - April 7, 2004 01:10 AM (GMT)
She nodded slowly, understanding.

"Alright... not today then..." she said softly. Slowly she turned to him, "How about tomorrow then?"

She looked out over the water, a smile still remaining on her lips. The breeze off the ocean played with her hair.

"But I have a question... or two," she continued, "Do I sleep in your..." she debated what she should call it, "Dwelling? Or do I provide my own board?"

It was easy for her both ways. She leaved in the wilderness for so many years, she wasn't expecting anything more. She assumed she was responsible for her food, which was second nature to an assassin, whose eye was sharper than her tounge.

Raku - April 7, 2004 01:29 AM (GMT)
He laughed slightly. "I honestly don't care, as long as you do your job." Man she is so beautiful...why don't I ask her after all I have nothing to fear.

"So why do you ask about sleeping in my castle." He started to gaze at her. "I have a question for you."

Phedre - April 7, 2004 01:58 AM (GMT)
She looked over to him the wind pulling a strand of hair across her face and over to the other side out of her way.

"Anything," she replied softly, awaiting his question. The sun had almost fully sank into the water, only the uppermost portion of it peeked over the water's edge.

Raku - April 7, 2004 10:53 PM (GMT)
He laughed. "You know I don't usually like mortals, but I like you." He then looked into her eyes.

"So you shall work for me, thats great."

He leaned closer to her, then whispered. "May I have a kiss?"

Phedre - April 8, 2004 01:51 AM (GMT)
Phedre felt her cheeks heat, but she didn't break eye contact. The purple in her eyes seemed to glow deeply with her raw emotion. Her bottom lip seemed to quiver in anticipation.

"Of course you may," she breathed, her voice softer than the wind itself.

Raku - April 8, 2004 02:00 AM (GMT)
He grabbed her head with his hand a gave her a passionate kiss.

"Thank you."

He still leaned in close to her waiting for her reaction.

Phedre - April 8, 2004 02:40 AM (GMT)
She kissed back, her eyes closed. When he pulled away she remained close, her warm breath lingering between them.

Her eyes slowly opened, and it took a moment for you to regain her composure, her lips still flushed and her mind in a haze.

"uh... You...you're very welcome."

She smiled slowly, the happiness spreading to her eyes.

Raku - April 8, 2004 03:10 AM (GMT)
He held her close to him. "I've never met anyone like you."

He looked into her eyes. "Well leave it to me, a god to fall for a mortal." He then stopped and patted her head gently. "Though I mean no disrespect by calling you a mortal."

"So...where should we go form here?"

Phedre - April 8, 2004 02:05 PM (GMT)
She shook with a bout of laughter in his arms.

"Well at least you've got something Quite different then just any mortal," she said. Suddenly she realized that he more than likely didn't know about her dragon form or her extended life due to dragon blood.

She tried to cover it, "I mean, being an Lady assassin and all."

She looked up at him, not anything close to frightened in the arms of a Dark God.

"Where should we go?" she asked back. "I'll leave that to the God to decide."

She let out a short laugh, turning her gaze back to the ocean.

Raku - April 8, 2004 03:27 PM (GMT)
He laughed. "Well we can always go to my temple."

He then kissed her forehead. "And your right you are not any regular mortal, I think you are the better than some of the gods, but they might not think so."

He then thought to him self for a second. Hmm she is most definitely a lady, and an assassin.

"But honestly I don't care where we go as long as your there with me."

Phedre - April 8, 2004 08:42 PM (GMT)
After years of hiding her emotions and pushing them aside to complete her tasks without distraction, she easily hid the blush that was growing on her cheeks.

She slowly got to her feet brushing the sand from her body. "Your temple? I would be very much enjoy that," she said with a smile that slowly crept up her rouged lips.

Her eyes were like amathyst in the shadows, glinting only in the right amount of light.

Raku - April 9, 2004 12:49 AM (GMT)
He looked at her with a evil grin. "One more thing there is a war about to start." He looked at the water. "I shall need your help."

Then he grabbed her hand and started off. "When we get to my castle make yourself at home."

Phedre - April 9, 2004 05:28 PM (GMT)
She nodded, taking his hand.

I've never fought on a side before. Why start? What problem is there on the moon that concerns me? She sighed as she walked. I care not the outcome of some far away land... as long as I'm not affected.

She looked to Raku, who was seriously deep in thought about the war.

But I am affected... at least now I am.

She sighed.

Emotions... I hate you.
