Title: Aftermath
Description: open to anyone and everyone
Hiita - October 22, 2006 01:25 PM (GMT)
((Continued from
Meeting of the charmers, read last post for info))
Hita glared at the hooded man as he continued laughing.
"I said spill it," she demanded
"who the hell are you?""Someone with far better skill that yours," the man said
"observe, quintessence!"A bolt of lightning shot from the man's hand, Hita threw herself out of the way and the attack blasted a hole in the wall.
Hita looked up at it and back at the man smiling.
"Thanks for the exit," she said.
She vaulted through the hole and ran into the street, the others had already gone.
"Typical," she said
"and I can't even charm a spark letalone fight a crazy lightning guy."The door was blasted open and the man walked out.
"Think you can run do you?" he said.
"Well I'm not going to stand here and get fried am I," Hita said.
"Well I'll just have to do something different then," the man said
"quintessence!"His hand suddenly seemed to X-ray itself and the ground infront of Hita started shaking, a huge stone golem suddenly came up out of it.
"Not good," Hita muttered.
The man laughed again.
"Well, if you honestly want to know who I am, then it won't hurt to have that knowledge before I kill you," he said
"I am Keleia, your destruction. Now, golem kill her!"The golem gorwled and raised its fist, Hita dived out of the way and the fist smacked into the ground.
"Sorry pal," Hita said
"your stoney little friend is a little slow."
kai_fox - October 24, 2006 06:43 PM (GMT)
Normally, Kai didn't pay too much attention to the goings-on in the tavern while he was inside taking a drink of water over at an isolated table, but right now it didn't seem like he had much of a choice.
Glancing up in mild curiosity to a hooded man after a few girls left after an apparent meeting, he vaguely caught what he and the remaining girl were saying before the man suddenly shot out a bolt of lightning, blasting a hole in the wall not too far from him. Then the girl vaulted through the opening left by the blast, and another bolt of lightning was shot out, this time blasting the door apart as the man walked out through it after the girl.
"Think you can run do you?" the man said.
"Well I'm not going to stand here and get fried am I," the girl responded.
"Well I'll just have to do something different then. Quintessence!" Then the man's hand seemed to become like an x-ray image, and the ground started to shake slightly, a stone golem rising up from it, Kai watching from the blasted doorway.
"Not good," the girl muttered, and the man laughed again.
"Well, if you honestly want to know who I am, then it won't hurt to have that knowledge before I kill you. I am Keleia, your destruction. Now, golem kill her!"
It wasn't exactly hard to determine who was good and who was evil in this fight, and since his tavern stay, which was supposed to be at least moderately relaxing, had essentially been ruined by now, there didn't seem much better to do at the moment than join in. So, igniting his hand in a fireball, Kai shot it off at the hooded man.
Hiita - October 24, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
Hita barely dodged another of the golem's attacks.
"What's the matter?" she said "too scared to fight your own battles?"
"Who's afraid? I'm just enjoying watching you struggle."
Suddenly Keleia looked to his side and raised his hand, a fireball shot from the ruined doors and impacted on his palm exploding.
"Typical," he sighed "Always somebody around to ruin everything."
Suddenly green lightning seemed to strike around him and he vanished.
"Whats the?"
Hita looked round and saw the person who threw the fireball, he looked for all the world like a fox on two legs.
Hita looked back up at the golem then leapt backwards as its fist impacted into the ground again, it seemed to be stuck. Hita looked up at it and smiled.
"My turn,"
She ran up the arm before the golem could pull it out and leapt the last few feet onto his shoulder and slammed her foot hard into his head, it suddenly collapsed into dust and stones.
"Wha...? Well, that was easy," she muttered.
She hopped down from the golem as the rest of it followed the head, she looked down at the pile of dust.
"Guess he must've kept that thing alive," she muttered.
She looked up towards the fox person who was still inside.
"Well thanks I guess," she said "I'd do it myself but I can't really use any magic yet."
kai_fox - October 24, 2006 07:26 PM (GMT)
Watching the green lightning after the fireball exploded on the man's hand, the man vanished within the lightning, but still leaving his stone golem behind. Well, a golem was no big deal...though it looked like the girl was handling it at the time.
Then it only took a short few moments as Kai walked outside for the girl to eliminate the golem, clearly made easier by the fact that the man had disappeared, his magic no longer keeping it around as much.
"Well thanks I guess," she said. "I'd do it myself but I can't really use any magic yet."
"Well, depending on what you're going for, I could probably help teach you...I was born with fire magic, and I've come to learn a fair amount of wind," he offered, slipping his hands into his pockets out of a habit of his.
Hiita - October 24, 2006 07:31 PM (GMT)
Well, depending on what you're going for, I could probably help teach you...I was born with fire magic, and I've come to learn a fair amount of wind,"
Hita brushed herself down briefly, some of the dust had settled on her clothes and they were dirty enough as it was.
"Thanks for the offer but I don't think you really use magic in my kind of technuique," she said "it's kinda heard to explain but I guess I owe ya. I'm a fire charmer, and we don't cast magic we embrace it so to speak."
She gave her sleeve another quicke scrub, she must have hit the golem harder than she thought.
"Well it's different to casting," she said "but I don't really know how it works, so don't ask."
((Sorry, not usually this short))
kai_fox - October 25, 2006 02:19 PM (GMT)
(eh, don't worry about it)
"Thanks for the offer but I don't think you really use magic in my kind of technuique," the girl said. "It's kinda heard to explain but I guess I owe ya. I'm a fire charmer, and we don't cast magic we embrace it so to speak."
Fire charmer? That was a new one...it probably wasn't similar to his own natural-born ability, to create and control fire freely, but he still might be able to help her out if she wanted it.
"Well it's different to casting but I don't really know how it works, so don't ask," she continued.
"In that case, it sounds a lot like the way I use fire," he said, creating a little demonstration by spreading the fingers of one hand out, almost instantly creating a blazing ball of fire that lightly engulfed his hand. "I was born with this ability, so it doesn't have anything really to do with spellcasting or anything like that."
Hiita - October 27, 2006 09:44 PM (GMT)
"In that case, it sounds a lot like the way I use fire," The fox guy replied, he then opened up his hand and a fireball opened up in it engulfing it completely. "I was born with this ability, so it doesn't have anything really to do with spellcasting or anything like that."
"I see, cool," Hita said "well I'm sure that comes in handy, by the way I don't think I caught your name, mine's Hita."
((More writer's block ^_^; ))
kai_fox - October 28, 2006 05:49 PM (GMT)
(yeah, it happens)
"I see, cool," the girl said. "Well I'm sure that comes in handy, by the way I don't think I caught your name, mine's Hita."
"Oh, right...name's Kai, pleasure to meet you," Kai responded, still somewhat wondering if she wanted him to help teach her, which he fairly likely could. Their types of power over fire still seemed rather similar, though he'd have to see hers to really know, though either way he could likely help out at the least.
Hiita - October 30, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
"Oh, right...name's Kai, pleasure to meet you," the fox replied although looking in slight thought, what about Hita could only guess.
"Nice name," Hita said "kinda suits you I think," she walked back into the pubb and sat down wondering if Kai was going to follow her, despite the fact that the barman was looking at her in slight bewilderment she acted as though nothing had happened.
"Well actually to be perfectly honest Hita isn't my real name," she said "but I'm afraid I'm not alowed to tell you my real one, that rule gets on my nerves cause it's a good one too."
kai_fox - October 31, 2006 02:53 PM (GMT)
"Nice name," Hita said. "Kinda suits you I think." Then she walked back into the pub and Kai, shrugging slightly to himself, wandered back in after her, glancing over to the destroyed wall and the edges of the destroyed doorway. Well, he would've liked to fix them up, but that would require a bit of earth or nature magic, neither of which he knew or was interested in.
"Well actually to be perfectly honest Hita isn't my real name," Hita continued after she sat down, Kai taking a seat across from her, "but I'm afraid I'm not allowed to tell you my real one, that rule gets on my nerves cause it's a good one too."
"Kinda strange, but I suppose it makes sense enough. Anyway though, I'm kinda hungry...care to get something to eat while we're here?" Kai asked, asking simply out of curiosity, not for any particular reason. Either way, he was hungry and it was about time to eat.
Hiita - November 2, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
Kai followed Hita into the pubb and sat down next to her, Hita felt like falling asleep for all she cared but something told her that wasn't a social thing to do when making friends.
"Kinda strange, but I suppose it makes sense enough. Anyway though, I'm kinda hungry...care to get something to eat while we're here?"
"I suppose," Hita muttered "and I wouldn't mind a bite to eat either, I have no idea how far I've walked and I don't want to know."
kai_fox - November 2, 2006 06:51 PM (GMT)
"I suppose," Hita muttered in response. "And I wouldn't mind a bite to eat either, I have no idea how far I've walked and I don't want to know."
"Definitely know how that feels...not always fun just being a wanderer, but there's not really much else I can be since I can't return home anyway," he said. Then, feeling he'd probably said a bit much on that subject, he figured it might be good to change it. "Anyway, I can probably call someone over so we can get some food, looks like things are starting to calm down after that little situation earlier."
Hiita - November 2, 2006 07:18 PM (GMT)
"Definitely know how that feels...not always fun just being a wanderer, but there's not really much else I can be since I can't return home anyway," Kai said pausing afterwards."Anyway, I can probably call someone over so we can get some food, looks like things are starting to calm down after that little situation earlier."
"Me too, I can't remember when I last ate." Hita muttered "know if they have anything good here? I don't know much about this place."
kai_fox - November 2, 2006 07:26 PM (GMT)
"Me too, I can't remember when I last ate," Hita muttered. "Know if they have anything good here? I don't know much about this place."
"Yeah, they have all sorts of stuff here," Kai responded, waving his hand a bit for a waiter or waitress to come over and take their order now that people were beginning to return to the pub, and activity in it was resuming. After a few moments, someone came over and placed a pair of menus on the table, walking off for the moment. Although Kai, already knowing what was here and what he wanted, left his untouched on the table and looked back over to Hita. "Don't worry about the cost or anything, I can pay for both."
Hiita - November 2, 2006 08:32 PM (GMT)
"Yeah, they have all sorts of stuff here," Kai said waving over a waiter.
"I see," Hita muttered "thanks."
This is some day, Hita though I get saved by a fox guy and later we're having lunch, guess this is the advantage of bieng a damsell in distress. Kinda embarrasing though
A person walked over to their table and placed a couple of pieces of parchment with writing written on.
Hita picked one up looking closely at the writing on it.
Lucky I can read foreign she though.
"Don't worry about the cost or anything, I can pay for both."
"Thanks," Hita said looking at the writing, even discifered it didn't make much sense but then she guessed she must have it upsidedown. She turned it round and restarted discifering it making sense of the first line.
"Dificult choice," she said eventually "and I don't think I've ever tried Checkin, oh wait that's chicken." She scanned through the rest of them rather slowly, taking her time and double checking to see if she got it right "well as long as it doesn't cost you too much I guess I'll have that thing," she said indicating absent mindidly "who knows it might be nice."
kai_fox - November 3, 2006 04:52 PM (GMT)
Glancing over to the girl for a moment in curiosity, noticing she seemed to be having a little trouble with the menu, he looked away and around at the people now in the bar, albeit which wasn't very many. Not really much people of interest, either, just a lot of humans, although they were for the most part the predominant species on the planet.
"Dificult choice," Hita said after a little while, "and I don't think I've ever tried Checkin, oh wait that's chicken." Then she looked slowly through the menu, seemingly still checking for something. "Well as long as it doesn't cost you too much I guess I'll have that thing. Who knows it might be nice."
"Nah, it doesn't cost too much, and I'm sure you'll like it. Most of the food here is pretty good," Kai said, then looked over to the waiter as he returned to take their orders. "I'll just have a water and some ribs," he said. It probably wasn't the best, and particularly not the cleanest, thing to order, but he liked ribs and that was what he was in the mood for at the moment.
Hiita - November 8, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)
"Nah, it doesn't cost too much," Kai said "and I'm sure you'll like it. Most of the food here is pretty good,"
"Well I could probably eat anything right now anyway," Hita said "heck I'd even take dad's cooking if it wouldn't kill me." She gave a half hearted laugh at the joke, her dad's food never actually killed her unless he burnt down the house making it.
"I'll just have a water and some ribs," Kai said jerking Hita out of her little fantasy world.
"People eat ribs here?" She muttered "wierd." She looked up at the waiter "oh yeah, I'll have the er what was it." She glaced back at the 'menu' decoding the text into something she could understand "chicken," she said eventually "without the gravy though I hate the stuff."
kai_fox - November 15, 2006 08:44 PM (GMT)
(sorry for the delay, been thinking what to post)
"People eat ribs here?" Hita muttered, and Kai wasn't really sure if she knew he could hear her, but...well, with his good senses, he could. "Wierd." Then she looked up at the waiter. "Oh yeah, I'll have the er what was it...chicken. Without the gravy though I hate the stuff." Then, since she ordered, the waiter went off for the cook to prepare their orders, which would take a short while Kai knew quite well.
"Now that I think of it...if you don't mind me asking, what brings you here to Arda, anyway? As for me, it was to search more places to try and get rid of my old dark half...but that's well since passed," Kai said, trying to make some conversation, which he knew he wasn't very good at.
Hiita - November 15, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
The waited went of to prepare the meals so Hita sat back in her chair twidling her thumbs lightly.
"Now that I think of it..." Kai started "if you don't mind me asking, what brings you here to Arda, anyway?"
Hita turned her head in his direction thinking about the question carefully, it wasn't really her choice in the first place so she didn't know how to answer.
"As for me, it was to search more places to try and get rid of my old dark half...but that's well since passed," Kai finished.
"Wow, sounds like you've had one heck of a life time," she replied, she rocked back on her chair gazing at the cieling "well if I start from the beginning in every detail we'll be here forever so to cut it down I'm part of cult of charmers that guard my home country, but back home we've run out of elemental spirits so we had to come here to find them, without them my people aren't protected anymore and the usual super evil stuff gets in, I don'r know why they bother good guy always wi or at least they did in the old stories." She put her chair back upright and half slumped on the table "so yay I get chosen, happy days, and I'm sure I won't wnjoy it."
kai_fox - November 16, 2006 08:10 PM (GMT)
"Wow, sounds like you've had one heck of a life time," Hita replied, rocking back on her chair and staring at the ceiling. "Well if I start from the beginning in every detail we'll be here forever so to cut it down I'm part of a cult of charmers that guard my home country, but back home we've run out of elemental spirits so we had to come here to find them, without them my people aren't protected anymore and the usual super evil stuff gets in, I don't know why they bother good guy always wins or at least they did in the old stories. So yay I get chosen, happy days, and I'm sure I won't enjoy it."
"Well, you probably can't really say that until you've actually started, unless there were things back home that you didn't want to leave," Kai responded. Elemental spirits, huh...he'd met a fair amount during his travels, though that was only natural given his natural ability to manipulate and create fire. He even knew of a place to find them here. "But if you're looking for elemental spirits, there are some to be found over in Anfauglir desert. I've seen one myself while I've been here in Arda."
Hiita - November 16, 2006 08:25 PM (GMT)
"Well, you probably can't really say that until you've actually started," Kai responded "unless there were things back home that you didn't want to leave,"
Yeah, I highly doubt that, Hita though I have to put up with an overjoy, a worryguts and a nerd, at least it can't get anyworse.
She drummed her fingers slightly on the table in a bored manner.
"But if you're looking for elemental spirits, there are some to be found over in Anfauglir desert." Kai continued "I've seen one myself while I've been here in Arda."
Hita suddenly perked up "what?" She said "you've actually seen one?"
Guess there's more to him than meets the eye,
kai_fox - November 16, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
"What?" Hita suddenly said, perking up. "You've actually seen one?"
"Yeah...I certainly should've if I could rightfully call myself a fire-wielder," he said. "After we eat, or rest, or whenever, I could probably take you over there to meet one. I've had a certain affinity with fire spirits especially since my dark half acted as general of the fire guardian back in Avalon."
Then, almost as if acting on what he'd said, the waiter came back with their food, Kai apparently not having realized that quite so long had passed since they'd been talking about a few things.
Hiita - November 16, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
"Yeah..." Kai replied "I certainly should've if I could rightfully call myself a fire-wielder,"
Maybe the spirits in this country are different to the ones at home, Hita though.
"After we eat, or rest, or whenever, I could probably take you over there to meet one. I've had a certain affinity with fire spirits especially since my dark half acted as general of the fire guardian back in Avalon." Kai continued.
Almost as a reaction to his statement the waiter came back with their food and placed it on the table, Hita was pleased to see he had left out the gravy, almost immediatly she picked up her cutlery and began eating.
"In a desert?" She inguered through mouthfulls "I always imagened it would live in a valcanoe,"
kai_fox - November 16, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
"In a desert?" Hita asked, through mouthfuls of food. "I always imagined it would live in a volcano."
That was true, now that Kai thought of it. He'd been so busy thinking about the few in the desert that he forgot about those undoubtedly in the heat of the volcano. But whatever the case, that was still a dangerous place to go, especially since it was said that there was a path to the Underworld nearby.
"Well, yeah, there are plenty there I'm sure, but there are also lots of other creatures, especially demons, so you're probably not as likely to find one there out in the open. It wouldn't be the best idea even to go there unless you're really prepared," Kai said, starting on his ribs.
Hiita - November 16, 2006 10:58 PM (GMT)
"Well, yeah, there are plenty there I'm sure," Kai said starting on his own food "but there are also lots of other creatures, especially demons, so you're probably not as likely to find one there out in the open. It wouldn't be the best idea even to go there unless you're really prepared,"
"Hm," Hita's mouth was a littel full to reply properly for the moment.
Even so, I still have to find it, She though I have to.
"Do you know where this valcaoe is?" She said after a large gulp of food.
kai_fox - November 19, 2006 04:19 PM (GMT)
"Hm," Hita started, swallowing her food before continuing at all. "Do you know where this volcano is?"
"Yeah...it's a ways away from here, along the mountain range," Kai answered, after taking a somewhat large bite of his food, cracking the bone slightly with his teeth. "I suppose I could take you there as well if you really wanted to go there, but you might be better off with the fire spirits in the desert."
Allura - November 19, 2006 05:32 PM (GMT)
Allura walked into the city in hope of a brief rest and perhaps some food, she had lost a little of her strength from her rebirth and needed the chance to catch up on some. She came across a small inn, it looked fairly quiet and undisturbed and would suit her perfectly so she stepped inside. She barely watched the other people sitting silently in a single chair in a quiet corner.
Not much else I can do but wait she though after all it will take time for me to get used to this form, and I don't want to start anything too dramatic too soon.
Hiita - November 19, 2006 05:43 PM (GMT)
"Yeah..." Kai responded "it's a way away from here, along the mountain range,"
Hita nodded slightly having started chewing another large amount of food and bieng a little preoccupied right now.
Well the sooner I find it the better, she though just think, the rest ran off the find them by themselves and I find a person to help me, not only that he can already control fire.
"I suppose I could take you there as well if you really wanted to go there," Kai continued "but you might be better off with the fire spirits in the desert."
Hita though about it hard, fire was an ustable element and if she embraced one too powerful it could destroy her, but if she absorbed a weaker one she'd be too weak to do anything anyway.
"Well I guess the desert would be easier," she began "but I'll take the risk and search in the valcanoe, I have to take that chance."
kai_fox - November 20, 2006 05:16 PM (GMT)
"Well I guess the desert would be easier," Hita said, "but I'll take the risk and search in the volcano, I have to take that chance."
Finishing more of his ribs, Kai nodded in response. She really was determined, it seemed...for someone that didn't apparently like the job she'd been given, she was plenty serious about getting it done. He definitely had to admit that he respected that.
"The volcano it is, then, in which case I'll definitely accompany you. It's a tough trip up it anyway even without all the creatures that reside there, both born of fire and born of the darkness of the Underworld," Kai said, realizing that he hadn't stated the latter fact earlier...though if she ever wanted to change her mind or turn back, that would be her decision, and he'd support it. And he wasn't about to let her, without yet having any powers, go off to the volcano alone regardless.
