The sun had barely risen, wisps of mists still clinging to the ground. The surrounding area was fresh and clean in the morning light. Rays of sunlight bathed the place and a cool breeze blew through the air. Birds had begun to come out for the day, singing merrily as they flew about.
Raven Silverflame drew back her bowstring, aiming her arrow for the bullseye in front of her. She loosed the arrow with a sharp twang. The arrow whizzed through the air, hitting the bullseye dead on.
The archer reached into her quiver, pulling out another arrow. Fitting it to her longbow, she drew the string back. She had set aside her Mystic Bow for today's practice, since she had discovered that it made the arrow fly more accurately, thus reducing the effects of practice. Concentrating, the archer let the arrow fly, smiling slightly as it hit the target yet again.
Archery was something that the shapeshifter could be proud of. She had practiced with the bow as a child, but three years of wondering had honed her skills with her chosen weapon. However...
Her eyes drifted to a small packet lying on the ground. She walked over to it, setting her bow down. Aegis, her familiar, who was lying down a few feet away, looked up at her lazily as she did so. Raven slid her quiver off her shoulder, picking up the packet. Inside were eight shuriken.
She sighed. She had no idea why she bought these--the bow already being enough for her. Perhaps the shapeshifter was looking for something new. She sighed, pulling out one from the packet. Aegis watched her cautiously. This was something new to him.
Raven held the shuriken in her hands. It certainly felt different from a bow. She hurled it forward at the bullseye. The shuriken flew through the air, missing the target horribly.
Well, this certainly is different... thought Raven, pulling out a second shuriken and having another try.
