Title: Escape from the rain
Dungeon Master Zero - March 27, 2004 12:07 AM (GMT)
It is cold, dark, and raining like a torrential downpour. You are wandering about outside alone looking for someplace, anyplace to find shelter for the assault of the gale. As you walk, you notice something standing out against the barely visible horizon. You continue towards it and as you get closer, a flash of lightining illuminates the large expanse of the prairy lands. It is a tall stone gray tower, jutting out from the ground like a solemn reminder of times passed. Abandoned looking, it seems like the ideal place to get out of the storm that has taken over the lands around you. Shivering and soaked to the bone in the icy rain, you decide to go inside and explore.
Ginger - March 27, 2004 12:58 AM (GMT)
Ginger shivered as the cold night air bit at her soft smooth skin, wings damp and heavy from the pouring rain as her lithe feet seemed to bounce against the damp wet grass. As she ran towards the tower, thunder rumbled head, causing her to accidently jump up and fall on to the ground, face-first. Coughing, she got to her feet, long white dress now covered with mud and grass, damp and heavy, like a burden to carry.
She sighed as she spit some mud out of her mouth, then continued running, hugging herself, her arms providing little heat, despite the fact they had been near a raging fire a few dozen minutes before.
When the cold, stoney tower wall finally touched her fingers, going through the tiny little lines in her body that all lead towards the brain, which gave her the message; Tower is cold.
She seemed to go slightly hysterical with laughter as she walked around the tower, looking for an entrance. She found one shortly, wooden, with a rusty knob. Still laughing, she opened the door gently and looked around the room that was before her...
((Am I doing this right...?))
Dungeon Master Zero - March 27, 2004 01:16 AM (GMT)
((OOC:yes))
Ginger:
When you enter it is dark and drafty. To the right is a set of winding stairs that leads to the upper chambers, and there are empty torch holders all alond the walls. Water drips from the ceiling above you. It is as cold inside as it is outside. There is also a fire place, but here does not appear to be anything to start a fire with.
Ginger - March 27, 2004 01:36 AM (GMT)
Ginger shivered as she looked around the room. It wasn't any better then outside, but at least it kept her away from the rain, except for a drop that continuously leaked from the ceiling, dropping on to the stone floor which was covered with what appeared to be the grime of the ages. Flinching and flaring her nostrils as she looked disgustedly at the floor, she took tiny baby steps towards the stairs. She then turned towards the stairs and took one step.
The stairs creaked dangerously as she took more steps, going up the winding staircase, and entering yet another room...
Threnody - March 27, 2004 01:46 AM (GMT)
Threnody pushed open the towers heavy iron doors and slid inside. Her black and white entwined cloak was heavy on her shoulders, rain soaking through to bite at her skin. It's hood was over her head, casting her face into an infinate depth of shadow. She stepped slowly into the entrance room, not seeing the other person in the room. Her footsteps echoes like tiny little chimes throughout the room as she headed deeper into the room.
"Hello," she called softly, her voice containing the gentle shivers of immortality, "Is someone there?"
Hideki Shiroyama - March 27, 2004 01:48 AM (GMT)
Hideki runs his fingers through his wet hair trying to keep it out of his face. However his attempts seem to be wasted due to the heavy rain knocking it back out of place. After a few more pointless attempts he finally gives up and continues walking toward the tower. Even though the rain itself didn't bother him, the shear fact that it kept making his hair fall out of place became a bothersome.
As he approached the tower, a strange chill crept up his back so frightful it almost persuaded him to stay outside in the rain. After considering rather to stay in the rain or explore the tower, his decision was made for him when he heard a strange laugher coming from inside.
He slowly walks over to the door and gently turned the rusty knob. As the door opens…
Dungeon Master Zero - March 27, 2004 02:03 AM (GMT)
Ginger:
You enter the room. To the left is a very dusty chest covered in spider webs. To the right is a large wooden table. The table is dry and dusty, yet in tact. the room smells musty, but not unbearably so.
Threnody:
The door opens behind you. A man enters the front room, drenched, and looking to escape the same storm as you. His hair is toussled, and disarrayed. At this point you also notice a creak in the ceiling above you, as if someone were upstairs.
Hideki:
When you enter the tower, there stands a woman in the front room. you also hear a noise from upstairs.
Ginger - March 27, 2004 02:12 AM (GMT)
Ginger glanced around the room, walking around and pinching her nose to keep from smelling the musty smell that filled the room. Her bare feet made little poofs of dust clouds in the air, before settling back on to the ground. Ginger walked over to the nearest wall and wiped her finger in a short line across it, leaving his finger with a horrible dirt pile on the tip. She shaked the dirt off and turned towards the wooden table, searching it for any clues.
She sighed and started to walk towards the chest, and attempted to lift up the lid on it...
Threnody - March 27, 2004 02:33 AM (GMT)
A draft brushed up under her cloak making her turn around to see a man behind her. She kept her hood up and took a step back from him, allowing a smile to grow on her lips.
"Hello sir," she said softly, her voice carrying like an easy whisper, "Come to escape the rain?"
Her head jerked upward as she heard the creak of someone upstairs, drawing her attention away from the stranger for a moment. Someone else is here, she thought to herself, very aware of her surroundings.
She took another step back and let her arms rest at her sides before looking back at the man. Most would know who she was by the color and make of her cloak, but she assumed for now that she wasn't recognized. She bowed to the God slightly and made a move to walk upstairs, stopping at the foot of the winding staircase.
Hideki Shiroyama - March 27, 2004 03:12 AM (GMT)
Once inside, Hideki watched the girl take a step back and begin to speak to him. She was incredibly beautiful with long pearl colored hair and pale blue eyes. He took a silent pause as he stared in her eyes but quickly remembered that she had asked him a question.
He cleared his throat and slowly smiled back at her. "Yeah, it's really bad out there." He said as he was cut off by the creaking noise coming from upstairs.
He saw her began to walk up the stairs and decided to follow her. "Do I know you? Because you remind me of someone I know." He asked trying his hardest to think of who she reminded him of.
Threnody - March 27, 2004 04:16 AM (GMT)
She nodded to his comment on the weather, looking over her shoulder at him and smiling again. "Quite bad... but I hear this is one of the worst places for thunderstorms... must talk to the-" she stopped, not wanting to give herself away just yet.
She couldn't help but smile, he was handsom himself, and humble for a God. "I believe you have seen me, yes," she said softly, her voice like gently windchimes through a breeze, "and I remember you well," she bowed her head again, "My Lord."
She straightened again, her hood fallen to her shoulders exposing her face fully, except for her hair falling over her one eye... her different eye, so it was hidden from view. Her hair was still damp, as was her face, with the blowing rain, but she made no move to wipe the beads of water from her face.
Her head moved again, hearing the creaking. "Would it please your Grace to come investigate with me?" she asked politely her smile unwaverying, spreading to her eyes.
Dungeon Master Zero - March 28, 2004 08:16 PM (GMT)
Ginger:
You are able to lift the lid. It creaks loudly on its ancient hinges. All that you find inside is the dust of the ages, but there is a suspicious circle carved into the bottom. From below you there is the vague whispering of voices.
Hideki and Threnody:
You hear something creak loudly again from upstairs.
Ginger - March 29, 2004 12:31 AM (GMT)
Ginger coughed as the lid creaked open with a dust cloud. She attempted to rub most of the dust off, but was caked on, and would take days to rub off completely. Seeing as the chest was fairly bigger then her, she squatted down in to the chest and began digging at the creases of the edges of the circle, where the whispering voices came from.
Maybe, just maybe, a warm room with a cozy fire and hot cocoa...
She thought to her wistfully as she digged at the creases.
Dungeon Master Zero - March 29, 2004 08:24 PM (GMT)
Ginger:
AS you pull at the edges of the circle, it appears to move a little as if it were a seperate piece of wood. When you reach one particular part of the circle, there is a perfectly square nick that could not be seen by a human because of its size, but it is just big enough for you to stick your hand in.
Threnody - March 29, 2004 08:39 PM (GMT)
Threnody turned back to the stairs, another large creak echoing throughout the room. She stopped suddenly, turning towards Hideki, nervousness in her eyes.
Please come with me... I may be a goddess (not that you know that) but I get nerved just like any mortal being...
She thought her eyes portrayed her thoughts clear enough as she turned back to the stairs, hesitating on the first step.
Ginger - March 29, 2004 11:45 PM (GMT)
Ginger blinked and looked at the square noths for a few seconds with her emerald green eyes, cranium tilting to an almost bending position, before snapping back in to it's original state.
Ok, three two one, then I'll stick my hand down there, hopefully to warm air...
She thouht her herself, slightly doubtfully, as she fluttered over to the nich and inspected it carefully, throughly examining the wood of the notch, and the shape, to check if any one had attempted to break the wood piece with a hammer or cut a notch with his or her sword, but it looked slightly rough./ Biting her lip, she stuck her hand down the nich...
Dungeon Master Zero - March 30, 2004 12:55 AM (GMT)
Ginger:
You stick your hand in, and feel....nothing. The circle does, however, move slightly counter-clockwise in the botttom of the chest. Perhaps if you were to push sideways....
Ginger - March 30, 2004 01:00 AM (GMT)
Ginger felt the circle being pushed counter-clockwise and withdrew her hand from the notch, watching it move, then letting out a disappointed sigh when the circle stopped moving. She held her breath as she lowered herself down to the circle surface, just outside the crease, and, with a sudden enourmus burst of hidden strength in side of her, she pushed the wooden circle counter-clockwise, thinking,
Please open, please open, please open....
Dungeon Master Zero - March 30, 2004 01:09 AM (GMT)
Ginger:
The circle comes off and slides easily to the side. Inside there are fifty shining gold pieces, and no one but you around to claim them. There is also a piece of old, folded paper inside.
Ginger - March 30, 2004 01:17 AM (GMT)
Ginger gaped, with her mouth slightly ajar, at the fifty shining golden pieces. Slowly, she fluttered down and picked up the old piece of folded paper, yellow with forlorn age. When she unfolded it, the paper was so sold she couldn't read it. She squinted and sighed, putting the piece of paer down on the ground and placing her hand upon it.
Her fingers glowed and eerie purple, before the glow died away soon, and she removed her fingers from the paper. It was now white with youngness, and, the writing appeared wet from newly traced ink. The words were now easy to read. Slowly and carefully, she began to read, swallowing every word..
Dungeon Master Zero - March 30, 2004 01:22 AM (GMT)
Ginger
The paper is untitled, but it is quite obviously a map of the tower. It is not complete, but it shows of at least one room that has a fireplace drawn on, and a little symbol placed upon it. There are three more symbols like it on the map in scattered places, but there is no legend. There is also a tiny red x in a room that appears to be the very same as the one that you are in. There are two more of these on the map, but they are blue.
Ginger - March 30, 2004 01:37 AM (GMT)
Ginger scanned over the map interestedly. The room with the fireplace was right next o hers, it appeared, but, there was a red X in her room. Maybe, just maybe, more treasure...
She folded the map again and put it in her pocket, fluttering out of the chest and looking around the room. After doing a complete scan of the room with her eyes she went down on her elbows and knees and began tapping on the floor for a hollow spot that might lead to more treasure, emerald green eyes inspecting every square inch of the floor for any hidden trap door or hole.
Dungeon Master Zero - March 30, 2004 02:57 PM (GMT)
Ginger:Your diligent search produces nothing until you are under the table. There you find something, but it is not what you were looking for. It is a large, black, hairy spider, and it is about half your size. It looks hungry and is coming in your direction.

#1
Ginger - March 30, 2004 11:03 PM (GMT)
Ginger let out a scream that came out as a large, muffled whimper when she saw the large spider. She flutterd off the ground a few feet and gazed at the spider as it scuttled towards her, piercing black eyes staring fixedly at her as if a large, tender piece of raw cow meat being hung from a string a few inches above it's head.
Ginger fluttered to above the spider, and, at exactly the right moment, dropped down on it, attemptiong to cling on as it swung her side to side, trying to get her off it's body. Then, guiety, she mumbled,
'Mimbletoneia.'
As the words left her mouth, the spider started shrinking, features turning younger and younger...
Please let this work....
She thought repeatedly.
Dungeon Master Zero - March 31, 2004 03:11 PM (GMT)
Ginger:
The spider shrinks smaller and smaller. It becomes so small that you are now standing back on the floor with it below you. It scuttles off back towards its web in a panic.
Ginger - April 1, 2004 02:04 AM (GMT)
Ginger let out a large sigh of ure releif when she realized that the spell had worked perfectly. She let out a satfisfied smirk as the got up from the floor and flutterd over to the dusty walls, hovering yet moving a few inches or so when she began to knock on the walls for any hollow sounds again. Though it seemed as if she had already found the treasure that was in the room currently, she wonderd if there was more, more that the red X on the piece of parchment meant...
Ugh, when I find some thing, I'm going home and having a nice long hot bath...dang, it's cold here...
Raku - April 3, 2004 06:25 PM (GMT)
He walked into the abandoned looking tower. Looking around for a sign of anyone at all.
"I love the rain its so sad, but enough is enough, I am soaked."
He looked around for something to which he might dry off with. He heard knocking around the old tower.
"Well either this place has a lot of rats or there is someone here."
Lynx Alacult - April 5, 2004 09:55 PM (GMT)
-He walked up the path his body masked in a black cloak and his head wraped in a black cloth he sighed seeing Raku he had one run in with him before and figured he better keep his distance he approched the bulding slowely keeping his head low and masked hopeing raku would not notice him he walked past him rather quickly into the bulding-
"..Excuse me..."
-He walked inside the bulding looking around his body soaked-
"..Damed rain.."
Threnody - April 6, 2004 08:32 PM (GMT)
Threnody turned around quickly, her pearl colored hair whipping behind her. She looked at the two new entries and let out a small sigh of relief.
I think this storm is messing with my head... she thought to herself, shaking her head.
She nodded a hullo to them both and tried to hide the shivers coursing through her body.
Raku - April 6, 2004 09:01 PM (GMT)
"Hello." He smiled at Threnody lightly.
He then turned his attention at the Sun Guardian. "What did I tell you last time." He pulls out his swords quickly. "Now if you thought I was bluffing you are sadly mistaken!"
He stares at the guardian. "Well whats your excuse for coming here thought I was going to be nice to you?" His eyes glared at lynx.
Lynx Alacult - April 6, 2004 09:13 PM (GMT)
-He glared up at raku for a moment then held his staff out onfront of him energies riseing off his body-
"..I came here to get out of the rain i came here from the last place we met because it started raining i dident expect to see you here infact i dident even try to say hello to you got it!...ill mind my own you mind yours!..."
-He gritted his teeth then lowered his staff a bit looking down he walked off into the tower on his own away from the rest of the people their grumbleing to him self-
"........."
Dungeon Master Zero - April 6, 2004 09:23 PM (GMT)
Ginger:
You can hear the sound of voices again from below. It sounds as though an arguement were going on.
Raku - April 6, 2004 09:35 PM (GMT)
"Who are you to tell me a God what to do!!" He yelled. He put his swords away.
"That fool I will crush him."
He throw his fist into the ground. "He shall die if he says anything else to me, looks at me wrong or comes near me."
He returned his attention to Threnody. "So.....what brings you here?"
Threnody - April 6, 2004 09:43 PM (GMT)
She looked at him slightly opened mouthed.
I can't believe he controlled himself... not killing him on the spot...
She regained her composure and pulled her dripping wet hair away from her chaotic eye. "The rain brings me to this overly dusty and creaky... thing," she said for a lack of a better word.
She smiled at him, still impressed. "And you, what has he done to you this time Raku?"
Lynx Alacult - April 6, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
-He walked about half way up a flight of stairs stopping, he sat down on the step setting his staff out next to him and tossing his cloak down on the step below him he leaned aginst the wall sitting his eyes slideing closed-
"......Tysat Sunuh....haatc...yddedita nayzicdashd.."
-He spoke in an unknowen tounge drifting off into a sleep he would leave once the rain had passed and hopefuly not have another run in with raku-
Raku - April 6, 2004 11:31 PM (GMT)
"Nothing it's just we are the exact oppisite." He looked around the tower.
"He is light I am dark, good versus evil, they are all the same." He sat down and leaned againist the wall.
"So... do you have any enemies."
Threnody - April 7, 2004 12:15 AM (GMT)
With this she had to laugh. She opened her hands infront of her and turned in a slow circle her hair flowing like silk behind her.
"Everyone, everywhere, seems to be my enemy when it's convieniant for them," she sighed giving a lopsided smile and a shrug, "And my friend when they need something."
She shook her head, her hands returning to her sides and her eyes calming.
"Quite depressing, and nerving," she continued, "Hard to trust anyone."
She let out another sigh and leaned against the basiter up the stairs.
"When you do something decient, the darkness hates you. When you do something firm, the light scorns you." She laughed, "Being balanced is the worst of both worlds."
Lynx Alacult - April 7, 2004 08:27 PM (GMT)
-He slept on the stair way silently all that could be heard comeing from him were the sounds of his breathing he moved in his sleep a bit as he sat their, he him self had no views on what was better Darkness Or Light it was the same to him he dident care what side the person was on but it seemes no one else shared these views as raku had shown not but moments ago-
"........"
Hideki Shiroyama - April 8, 2004 01:08 AM (GMT)
(ooc: sorry I took so long)
Hideki watched as the two new comers came in and had a short converstation with Threnody. Not saying anything, he slowly walked away from the group to try to find out what the strange noise was. As he walked up the stairs the same un-natural chill crept up his back making the very bones in his body shake.
Ginger - April 9, 2004 04:52 PM (GMT)
Ginger fell to the floor, unknowingly having stopped fluttering her wings, which was a mistake. She landed on the floor in a ball, then unfurled herself and got up in to the air again, trying to straight out her rumpled wings from the fall she had just experianced.
She heard foot stpes up this stairs and nervously fluttered over to the end of the stairs winding down, green eyes seeming to sweep the stairs of any sign of life. Then, she spotted a man coming up the stairs. He seemed to have a faint god-like aura around him, but, Ginger had only seen the aura once, around a girl which her prank on had gone horribly.
