Title: Resting...
Description: humans are hard to digest....
Telsar - October 3, 2006 02:58 AM (GMT)
Telsar lay in his dragon form on the sandy bank of the lake, letting the suns rays warm him. He was half asleep, enjoying the peace, letting his latest meal settle. A local village will have to do without a blacksmith for a little while. He wasnt evil persay, he had done good, but hes not an angel for sure.
He gave a sharp breath, a a trail of smoke trickled from his mouth. He enjoyed this. It was good to just relax once in a while and just take in your surroundings. The lake itself was quite pleasant to him, and he watched the suns rays play off of it. In the back of his mind he hoped the village did not hire anyone to seek revenge. That would really ruin the moment.

Veryan stood upon a hill ajoining the lake, engraving the brilliant sky, splattered with soft puffs of clouds, into his memory. His eyes lazily drifted down towards the earth, scanning the horizon, before they rested on the lake, where they admired the shimmering reflection of the sun as it danced upon the fickle waves. His gaze encompassed the entire lake, not finding a single break in its peaceful pattern.
That is, until he let his eyes wander from the lake. On the shore nearest him, only several dozen yards from where he stood, lay a dragon.
Veryan's keen elven eyes inspected the dragon as he slowly and silently moved towards it. From the gentle heaving of its chest, it appeared to be in a state of rest, or something near to it. But Veryan knew that such hasty conclusion could easily be misfounded. Not relenting on his painstaking silence, Veryan continued towards the dragon as he fitted an arrow to his bow.
Telsar - October 3, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
Telsar was getting the odd feeling of being watched. He lifted his head lazily and sniffed the air. Something sweet hung there, it could have been celestial, or elven. Either way, it was close. He tried to hear the breathing, or footsteps of the creature but couldnt.
He decided to gamble on this one. He raised his head up fully and lazily looked out at the water saying in a deep and uncaring voice, "I know your there. You might as well come out. If you have come to kill me, I suggest you leave. It would be in your best intrest."
CyberSmyth - October 3, 2006 03:40 AM (GMT)
Veryan's bow rose quickly into position when he heard the dragon speak. It's voice resonated through his bones, putting him on the verge of quaking in fear. He knew fully well the tremendous strenght housed in the enourmous beast in front of him.
A plea for mercy almost escaped his lips, but a gleam of rememberance shone in his mind.
'Never talk to a dragon.' I cannot engage in conversation here; if I do, I might never see the end of it.
Veryan steeled himself against his fear; though he knew he had little chance against this dragon, he nonetheless would keep his cool.
Veryan sidestepped quietly into a small bush to provide protection against a cursory glance should the dragon choose to take one. Knowing that that wouldn't protect him long, Veryan took aim at the large creature, but kept his arrow in his bow, ready to fire.

Drionis watched from a tree nearby, the dark clothed assassin was resting after a recent kill. His sword hung from a strap on the branch above him, water still dripped from the recent washing he had given it. The steel blade gave his reflection but he had wisely shrouded it so no glisten from the sun would give away his position. He smiled under his cloth bandage mask as the elven approached. Although Drionis was a half-dragon he still had allegance to his mothers blood. He carefully moved across one branch as the elf side stepped at the red dragons voice.
Drionis decided that instead of actually getting in on the fight he would merely lend a knowledge. "The elf is in the bushes brother dragon" he called while still laying back in the tree resting. He did not feel the need to get up or anything. The elf may be good with a bow and that was a fire dragon but he was also a dragon. And his abilities helped with his missions and spying. He waited to see what would happen.
Telsar - October 4, 2006 07:33 PM (GMT)
Telsar swung his head towards the voice.
"Thank you." Telsar said, tonelessly. Now that he knew where the elf was he could keep track of him. He could now see that the scent did indeed come from there.
Good. Now I can keep track of him. Telsar thought.
He resumed his relaxed pose. He didnt want to fight that much, it was a nice day, and if he fought, he knew he would get a cramp. His mother always said, no activity for a good half hour after a meal. It does give cramps.
"You might as well come out elf. Im not going to eat you, if thats what your afraid of." Telsar said.
CyberSmyth - October 5, 2006 05:11 AM (GMT)
Veryan's eyes focused on the dragon's large teeth when it turned its head to face him. The shreds of bloodied human flesh could still be seen in the crevices between the razor sharp teeth.
Such a creature is a threat to all peace and order. Veryan wanted to shoot, but knew it woud be impossible for him alone to take on two dragons. Instead, he spoke.
"My purpose in staying hidden was only to find your intentions for being here," Veryan remarked, keeping his arrow near his ear and sidestepping out of the bushes. "From the looks of you teeth, that wicked purpose has already been fulfilled." Veryan's eyes darted around as his head remained stationary, searching for and finding the darkly clad man who claimed to also be a dragon.
"Such a purpose is intolerable in these lands. Things will run much more smoothly if you will vow that you will never partake in the flesh of any sentient beast ever again." Veryan held no hope that the dragon would acquiesce, but he still tried to stall in hopes that another traveler would come to his aid.

The assassin nodded his head as the Dragon spoke his thanks. He watched the dragon turn towards the bushes he spoke of. "You might as well come out elf. Im not going to eat you, if thats what your afraid of." The dragon said still lying on the ground. Drionis kept a keen eye on the elf wondering what he would do.
Drionis watched the elf come into full view. He smiled as the elf began to speak. "My purpose in staying hidden was only to find your intentions for being here, from the looks of you teeth, that wicked purpose has already been fulfilled." Drionis rolled his eyes at the remark. His mother was a dragon but he never called her killing to eat wicked purpose. In fact Dragons killing to eat was no different than that elf having keen eyesight or the goddess of life judging those who are dead. It is in their blood.
"Such a purpose is intolerable in these lands. Things will run much more smoothly if you will vow that you will never partake in the flesh of any sentient beast ever again." Drionis continued watching and found that the elf had seen him so instead of making more tension in a situation that needed it he simply grabbed his sword, shethed it and jumped down a few yards away from the two. He landed in a crouch position and his eyes showed his smirking face. "Intolerable? My dear sir. Intolerable is what you were doing spying on the dragon. And to not ask a dragon to kill is like asking the Goddess of Life not to judge the dead, or ask me not to change into shadows or you not to see as well as you do. It is the way we are. But it is rude to continue to talk without knowing who the participants are and first meetings usually warrent introductions. I am Drionis. And you are?" he said.
CyberSmyth - October 5, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
Veryan knew as Drionis left his perch in the tree that this conversation could turn out to be very long. He relaxed his pull on his arrow and pointed his bow toward the ground in the direction bisect the angle between the two half-dragons. His eyes stayed alert to detect any sudden and possibly malevolent movements.
Veryan cast an angry glare in Drionis' direction as the latter attempted to defile the definition of "intolerable". "If such an evil purpose is inherent in dragons, then all dragons are, by definition, intolerable." The words escaped Veryan's mouth before he fully considered the ramifications of such an accusing statement. He quickly shut his mouth and silently scolded himself for his lack of tact.
In an effort to distract from the conflict that could be created by his statement, Veryan answered Drionis' question. "I am Veryan of the half-elven. Under other circumstances perhaps I could have been pleased to meet you," Veryan replied, lacking any tone of warmth in his voice.
Telsar - October 6, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
Telsar gave a great booming laugh as he listened to the two others argue.
"I am afraid, I can not swear I will not eat another sentient being, mainly because they do taste rather good, but secondly because I do have to eat, and cows are rather unappetizing." He said, giving a grin which flashed a lot of very big, and very sharp teeth. As the elf lowered his weapon, Telsar smiled and stood up, stretching his wings, which cast a rather large shadow.
"My name is unimportant, I'm rather fond of keeping it to myself." he said as they itnroduced themselves.
Suddenly Telsar cought a scent on the breeze, the scent of man.
He grunted, which sent some smoke out.
"It seems that village has become rather angry while I sat resting here." no sooner had telsar said that than nearly 15 men appeared at the forest edge, armed with spears, bows and some crude swords.
Telsar grinned, and with a flash of light, he was human again, clad in a black cloak. He slowly drew his katana, and held it out before him with both hands, his face expresionless.
"You two may either leave, or fight. Either way, these people die. Its your choice." He said emotionlessly.
CyberSmyth - October 6, 2006 05:33 AM (GMT)
A spring of hope welled inside Veryan when Telsar announced that the village had attempted to retaliate. That spring was instantly quelched when he saw the shoddily armed villagers that had been sent.
Yet it was Veryan's moral duty to protect such villagers, nonetheless. "I'm afraid this is a fight in which I must oppose you." As Veryan's bow sprung to his ear, Veryan leapt backward, hoping to distance himself as much as possible from the other two half-dragons, as he now assumed them to be. After taking a split moment to steady the finely carved piece of wood, he release his arrow, which left behind only a whispy breath and a twang as it sped with elven accuracy towards Telsar's upper-right torso, yearning for a hit in the vicinity of the shoulder but trying to stay close to the center of mass.
Veryan's hand flowed back into his quiver, from where he drew another arrow which he speedily fitted again in his bow. His eyes darted back and forth between Telsar and Drionis, checking the result of his arrow toward the former and desring to see how the latter decided to take the fight.
Rumasak - October 7, 2006 01:45 AM (GMT)
Drionis looked away from the other dragon and the elf. This is going to get real ugly real quick. he thought to himself and watched as the crudly armed villagers ran towards them as fast as their legs could carry them. Drionis sighed and looked at the elf. "I'm afraid this is a fight in which I must oppose you." he said almost sorry that he had to leave the dragon to such opposition.
Drionis shook his head. The only threat here was the elf but he would not fight, this battle was not his. He made a quarter turn back towards the woods and gave a nod "I appologise to both of you, I am Evil and am an assassin but I do have dignity at times and this is not my battle. Brother Dragon I am afraid you will have to fight this on you own. I now take my leave. Good Day gentlemen." he said and dashed off into the forest.
