Title: A traveler's Journey.
Atrus Kohael - April 19, 2005 06:02 AM (GMT)
It was cold. Cold and wet. The two simplest ways to describe the conditions of the forest that night. It was not his decision to travel through the Taurerosa Rainforest this night, but a small settelment on the edge of the rainforests did not welcome him. No surprise. He was not welcome anywhere. That did not bother him much. Atrus had grown accustomed to the constant turn-downs in his life. Stopping a moment, Atrus looked up through the canopy above. There was a small gap, with just enough room for the light of the moon to shine down on his face. He stood there for some time gazing at the moon, then pulled his hood tight, and continued to trudge down a muddy path that was surprisingly not below water.
The smells and sounds of the rainforest fell gently around him, encouraging him that all was not as bad as it seemed. Taking a deep breath, he drew in the auroma of the rain around him. It was a very pleasing smell and one that he enjoyed immensly.
As lax as Atrus seemed, behind the cloak, he always had his hand upon the hilt of his sword, prepared just in case of danger. His pale eyes darting around in the darkness, always looking for some movement within the bushes around him.
Adsero - April 19, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
Adsero mumbled and shivered beneath her oil skin cloak. She was an odd sight to see, bundled up in waterproof clothing as she was despite the obvious heat of the forest. Not a drop of water was aloud to seep in and Adsero walked very cautiously through the mud and water. "Fire damned rainforest." She glared at the water from beneath her hood. Despite all of her protection, she couldn't help but feel like she was walking on acid in sandals. She heard someone up ahead but didn't glance up from the ground. One slip and she could end up bleeding all over. "I hate water. Just keep walking. Concentrate, careful." Grimly she started to humm a little, trying to make light of her deadly situation. "I'm gonna trip and di------e, I'm gonna trip and di--------e."
(ooc) sorry it's not very long.

It took Atrus a moment to register that someone was actually there, comming down this poorly lit path of his. He did not expect someone to be traveling in this forest other than him at this late hour. He shrugged and continued walking towards the person, his face hidden behind the hood of his cloak. He could hear the person talking to him or herself, mumbling something about falling and dying.
"How stupid." Atrus thought "How would you fall and die here, in the rainforest?"
He neared the person, and thought to pass the person without saying a word, and he nearly did. When Atrus was close enough to speak with the other being, he said sofly, but loud enough to be heard over the rain. He did not lift his head.
"Excuse me, where is the next town or shelter?
His face was still partially covered by the shadow that his hood cast. The cloak did flutter in the wind, and it showed the simple, yet tattered and very torn white tunic Atrus wore underneath.
Adsero - April 20, 2005 11:55 PM (GMT)
Adsero looked up as much as she dared, not wanting to get rained on, and peered out at the stranger. "Well, unless I've gotten turned about, I'm headed for it. If you want, you can come. If not, feel free to go that way." She nodded towards the direction she had been, more or less, headed in. She didn't risk pulling a hand from beneath her coat to point and hoped he understood which way she was indicating. "I'm Adsero by the way. Care to tell me your name?" She was a nodey person, it was simly apart of her nature. Most people would point and continue on but she figured she might as well learn his name now rather then later. Guardians always had the odd luck of meeting up with everyone at some time or another. She hoped he would answer soon though. It was very unsettling to be standing out here and couldn't wait for a beer and a comfortable fireplace. Inkeepers in this land had long since learned to always build their fireplaces big enough for Adsero to curl up in. If this rain continues once I leave the forest, she mused I shall have to stay the night in the inn. With any luck though, Adsero decided she would be able to head back to the temple before long. She suddenly remembered there was a person other then her here and awaited his answer.

Atrus scoffed under his breath. It figured, the closest place was always the most inhospitable. He could not go with this traveler, not that he really wanted to anyways. People did not like him, and he usually did not want to associate with them. (Well, in a way that was a lie. Atrus did not like others, but he did wish to have somewhere to call home)
"I'm sorry, we're headed in opposite directions. I cannot return to where you are going."
Atrus let that hang for a moment. The person infront of him then asked his name. He mused on that a moment, deciding if it was a good idea or not, then, finally deciding no harm could come from it, he spoke.
"My name is Atrus." He said flatly as he turned from the other. "I must be going now, Farewell"
With that, he turned off into the rain again, his cloak hanging tightly around his broad shoulders.
