Title: The Unheard Prayer

Taylor Hurt - September 12, 2006 06:10 PM (GMT)
((OCC: For those who don't know how to read music, the lines in between certain words of the song written mean that note is held for a couple of beats of the song.))

The halls of the Chruch were empty, not a soul could be found. It was just how Taylor liked it. She loved the quite of the Temple. The peace of it. It was then she felt safe to put words to the Prayers in her head. When no one could tell her she was wrong. For Taylor, this came in the form of a song. A song giving while kneeling before the Cross on bended knee:

"Near____er, my Gods to Thee,
Near
___er to Thee!
E'en though it be a cross
That
_____ rais__eth me;

Still all my song shall be,
Near
____er, my Gods to Thee,
Near
__er, my Gods to Thee,
Near
___er to Thee!

Or if on joy
_____ful wing
Cleav
____ing the sky,
Sun, Moon, and Stars for
__got,
Up
_____wards I fly,

Still all my song shall be,
Near
____er, my Gods to Thee,
Near
___er, my Gods to Thee,
Near
__er to Thee!

A
_____men, A______men, A____________men."

"Amen."

Rye entered the church as the girl started singing. She didn't notice the old man enter the cathedral, but Rye was quite sneaky. He sat on a pude, its wooden material shining with magic of some sort. Long tapestries hung on the wall and a velvet carpet ran along the long hallway. The angel was kneeling at the cross at the front of the church. She turned as Rye spoke, the old man smiling at the strange person. She didn't look like a normal angel, but there were many strange people in Arda these days.

"Hello there, my name is Nofurye Mando. That song was wonderful, I'm sure Lothlomendiel would be proud."

Rye knew the gods would enjoy the hymn as much as he did, but then again they don't normally listen to any bodies these days.

Taylor Hurt - September 17, 2006 07:21 AM (GMT)
Taylor bowed her head. She hadn't known any one had heard her sing. "Thank you" she whispered. Taylor looked back up to look at the man. She could see he was very old and not an Angel. But then again, Taylor didn't look like any Angel in Arda either.

Taylor had seen him look at her wings and knew what he must have thought. "I know I don't look like any normal Angel in Arda. And I have my reasons for that happening to me." Taylor didn't think the old man would want to hear her story, so she didn't offer to tell it. All he needed to know was that she knew she was diffrent from the rest. She always would be after that horrid day.

Darius Winstrom - September 24, 2006 08:09 PM (GMT)
Darius wasn't much of a religious man - In fact, he probably knew less about the gods than anyone a person may run across. If he were asked, he wouldn't even be able to name most of them without leaving one or two out, wouldn't be able to count them, or even tell what most of them represented. Many times he was under the impression that he should be ashamed of this simple fact, or that he might have to undergo some sort of rebirth just to mean something in Arda. After all, it was on several occasions that people would try to convince him that without the love or favor of the gods, your life would be short and meaningless.

But of course, he never took such warnings too seriously. He may have done so at some point or another when he was most emotionally vulnerable, but other than that, he had never considered becoming any sort of holy or religious man. One didn't have to, to have faith in their deities, but he felt that to believe in them would be to devote oneself to a religion at least in part. It wasn't the responsibility or the expectation that put him off, though. It was simply the fact that he never had any reason to feel connected toward the higher powers of Arda.

But there was one thing about the gods that he always found he could enjoy. Of all places, the temple was the most peaceful and tranquil place he could ever find, and in them, the most understanding and wise people of his time. He couldn't help but be drawn to the timeless beauty of the Sanctuary of Angles, because just like the Temples of Life and Light, it held that ageless awe-inspiring inspiration that reverbrated through its halls and body, carrying with it a serenity that would live on, seemingly, forever.

There was a song that filtered through the silent, ethereal walls of the Sanctuary. As Darius made his way through the building with his head slightly bowed and his hand clutching at his chest, the other on the hilt of his weapon, he couldn't help but listen to its sense of profound emotion. By the time it had ended he had already made his way to its source, and the female had by now engaged herself in conversation with an elderly man. As not to intrude, Darius moved away from the two, meandering about like a lost pup confused as to how he had happened into his current predicament. He listened silently to the words of the two, even if he wasn't normally one to eavesdrop on anyone.

As if he had come with some initial purpose, he knelt tentatively before the symbolic cross, half-heartedly seeking some sort of engagement so he would not disturb the two nearby. He thought that he would make a rather awkward worshipper, if he were really one, looking like some loitering vagabond with a pained and suppressed secret he yearned to tell his silent god. But there was nothing but a lingering silence both in his mind and in the Sanctuary, save for the two voices of the young and the old, their meanings inaudible to him now.

Taylor Hurt - September 25, 2006 05:55 AM (GMT)
Taylor saw the other man enter the temple. She didn't know why, but she felt the need to talk to him. And as this need grew, she knew she would have to be the one to speak up.

"May I help you, Sir? You seem like you want to talk to some one." Taylor wasn't normaly so talkitive, but today seemed to be the odd day. First the older gentleman, now this younger man. She didn't know what either of them wanted. But she was going to find out.

Taylor looked around her while she waited for a response from either man. She wondered who else would come to the temple today.

Ulric - September 26, 2006 07:38 PM (GMT)
Ulric came up to the doors of a temple from the Sanctuary of the Angels. Before he entered he looked up to the skies. For a momne t he stood there murmuring"Lord, looking from the skies allow me ot enter you rholy temple for i may prey for your forgiveness, amen." He then opened the large doors inside there stood three other people. With out saying anything he took his place and sat down putting his hands together praying for forgivness over his sins. After he finished he saw that the girls was staring at him. "Hello my name is Ulric of the Melnobonean family, who may you be?"

Taylor Hurt - September 26, 2006 08:13 PM (GMT)
Taylor bowed her head in greating. "My name, kind Sir, is Taylor Hurt. And it is a pleasure to meet you. All of you in fact. Even though I don't know your names."

Taylor looked at the other two. The older man hadn't said anything as of yet, and the younger one seemed not to know what to say either. 'What an odd group' Taylor thought to her self.

Ulric - September 26, 2006 10:36 PM (GMT)
The girl bowed her head in greating. "My name, kind Sir, is Taylor Hurt. And it is a pleasure to meet you. All of you in fact. Even though I don't know your names."

"Taylor is good to meet you, may i ask what you be doing here?" Ulric asked out of cariousity."Also who may your friends be?" Looking at the strangers across from Taylor. One of them was a wizard, Ulric dislikes them for one cursed him with the demon hidden inside him. Ulric slowly gripped his mace ready to charge at the wizard if something were to happen, but kept calm for not every wizard he encountered caused him trouble.

Taylor Hurt - September 26, 2006 11:40 PM (GMT)
Taylor stood up from kneeling and walked to a pew. "The reason for my being here is simple. I come here to pray. As to my friends, this is Nofurye Mando." Taylor pointed torwards Nofurye as she said his name before turing to look at the other man next to her.

She still didn't know his name, nor had he choosen to give it at any time as of yet. "As to your name, I still don't know it." Taylor hoped he would tell every one at least who he was. Even if he didn't say much else.

Roleun - September 27, 2006 09:48 PM (GMT)
Roleun, dazed, wandered the into the Church. He expected to find it deserted, but there were a few people, one of which was an angel, even though she looked a bit different from the usual angel. He looked down, suddenly shy, and waved slightly. He had never met a true angel before, and now, in the midst of a true celestial being, he felt humbled. He brushed his hand against his forehead to move hair out of his eyes and smiled. "Ummm... Hello. I'm, er, Roleun." He said to the group, since he could hear them talking of eachother's names. He folded his wings against his back even tighter, unintentionally showing how nervous he was.

Taylor Hurt - September 28, 2006 02:26 AM (GMT)
Taylor looked up when she heard someone say, "Ummm... Hello. I'm, er, Roleun." And the site that met her eyes made her smile. A boy, about her age stood there looking so shy and out of place, that Taylor had to make him feel welcome.

"Hello, Roleun. My name is Taylor. There's no need to be shy. No one will hurt you here." Taylor tilted her head to the side as she studied the boy. She wasn't even aware that she was doing it. But she saw that he was also an Angel, or at least a half angel. And from the looks of how tight he was holding his wings, Taylor could see he was still nevous.

Darius Winstrom - September 28, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
Darius hadn't been paying much attention after the woman and the old men had stopped speaking. Sure, he was listening as the new arrivals had made their place and had found some role in the conversation, but he found little need to turn to them or to move from his place before the awkward statue before him. He remained there, on his knees, his back turned away from them, and thus he had no inkling of knowledge that any of their speach was directed at him. In fact, the thought didn't even cross his mind that any of them could be looking at him in the first place.

He then stood, figuring that he had disturbed enough of their peace for now. After all, he had come for some sort of solace, and in return had been met with a casual conversation in this holy place. He realized that it was no place for him to note this simple fact, mainly because he was not a holy man himself and did not visit these places often. If this was what they did, or saw fitting to do, then he had no problem with it and would not question them. Instead, he would leave them be.

He turned, tearing his eyes away from the statue that still seemed misplaced and odd to him, and surveyed the collective group with one swift sweep of his cool gray eyes. They seemed like an odd assortment of beings, now that he could see them fully, and he couldn't quite connect them with the disembodied voices he had been greeted with a few moments ago. He gave a feeble smile as he moved to go around them, feeling misplaced and even like an intruder in this moment of conversation in a divine and quiet place.

"Pardon me," he said lowly, as not to speak too loudly in a place pervaded by such silence (despite the voices that echoed within), and shifted away as to not break their circle or obstruct their view of the statue. His boots made an uncomfortable yet muffled thud as they hit the polished floor.

He was a few yards away before he paused to admire the etchings on the walls. He stood like this for a time being, curious as to what they meant. From here he would not be an intruder, and yet he would still be able to carry out his initial mission, to find some moment of thought in this place.

As he did this, he realized that the words amongst themselves were no hindrance, but were rather more like a soothing sound, a dull rythmic beat in the back of his mind. He rather welcomed it, to his surprise, as he traced the walls with his fingertips.

Perhaps, as holy as this sanctuary was, their words had been embellished with the sense of peace and solitude that so traced this place with such elegance. Perhaps it had that effect on those within, as natural or supernatural as it was.

Roleun - September 29, 2006 12:11 AM (GMT)
"Hello, Roleun. My name is Taylor. There's no need to be shy. No one will hurt you here." Roleun noticed Taylor studying him silently, and blushed slightly. The man kneeling by the statue suddenly stood, pardoning himself and started to study the ornate carvings on the walls, seemingly oblivious to the fact that he was included in the conversation. Roleun watched him curiously, then turned toward Taylor. "Yes... So, what're you doing here...?" He said, not knowing what else to say. He instantly berrated himself for the stupid question. Praying, of course!

Taylor Hurt - September 29, 2006 01:44 AM (GMT)
Taylor smiled at Roleun's question. "We are all here for our own reasons. None known to anyone but ourselfs."

Taylor looked at the man now studing the walls. She, too, at one time in her life had studied the writeings. As Taylor looked around her, she spread her wings a little. They wanted to fly. But now was not the time. She still needed to pray. All of her endless questions had yet to be answered. And Taylor knew there would be no rest for her if they were to stay that way.

Roleun - September 29, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
Roleun nodded at Taylor's reply. "Yeah... You're right." He said distantly. Led by some compulsion, he walked toward the statue and kneeled. O gods above, forgive your Child of Light. I, like all beings living on Your Earthly Glory, have sinned, and I seek repentance. Please, exonerate my past actions... Bless these new friends I have just met in your Hallowed Halls. Amen. He prayed silently. He got up and turned toward Taylor, smiling slightly. "Well, I have finished my purpose here."

Taylor Hurt - September 30, 2006 01:10 AM (GMT)
Taylor looked back at the statue. She knew she wouldn't be getting any more answers today. There was only one thing left for her to do, and that was to leave this Holy Place. "Well, I have finished my purpose here." Taylor looked at Roleun and smiled.

"It seems I to am finished for the day. Shall we go?" Taylor didn't really wait for any type of answer as she turned and started to head quitely to the door. As Taylor took a step, however, she stoped and turned.

Taylor looked back at the other two Men. "If you are ready to leave as well, you are more than welcome to come with us."

Ulric - October 2, 2006 02:07 AM (GMT)
Looking back at the statue Ulric bowed his head."I'm ready to leave."He then slowly walked past the others and walked to wards the doors. Before opening the doors he said" farewell to you all, we might cross our paths in the future."Grassping the doors handle he opened the giant doors. he steped outside looking into the skies."Were do I go now,"wispering.

Roleun - October 2, 2006 01:10 PM (GMT)
"I suppose so. I should leave soon anyway, if I want to be at the Temple of Light anytime soon..." He smiled at Taylor. "Keep in touch." He walked toward the door, past the mysterious man examining the wall carvings, and approached the door. He turned again and waved to Taylor. "I'm sure we'll meet again." He mumbled.

Taylor Hurt - October 3, 2006 03:52 AM (GMT)
Taylor looked back one last time. The old man was still sitting there. He hadn't moved once since he came in. But, Taylor wouldn't have either if it hadn't been for the new friend's she had made. And surely, they were her friends.

For like Roleun had said, they would ,meet again. It was just up to the fates as to when. With a small sigh, Taylor walked out the dorrs of the temple, wondering what life would bring her next.
