Title: New RP Board: Aman, Land of the Ainur!
Ita the Reckless - August 31, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
After tons of brainstorming between Lothlomendil and I, we have finally released a new roleplaying forum that will be a key part in the lore of Arda. Introducing Aman, a floating land of truly colossal proportions. This is a deity-only roleplaying board, the permissions have been adjusted so no mortals are allowed (even if you try to post there). This area is the home of many Ainur, even ones not in the pantheon, and it flies so high up in the sky that nobody on the ground can see it. Many years ago, in the early ages of Arda, the great Aman descended and allowed many high elves into the land of the gods. It hasn't come back down since. The Aman forum also contains the Hall of Omnipotence, the deity meeting place moved from Lothlomendil's temple, and Valolvann, a prison where deities (except Loth) are powerless inside.
This is just one update in the more new features to come. Aman is a very important place, and we hope you enjoy it!
Remember, everything lives to be killed by me,
Ita the Reckless

Groovy! Can't wait to see the Ainur all posting in there :D Me likes Arda lore.

Kudos to Sky / Charlotte for the idea of a place where powers of the gods are removed, it was great for the prison Valolvann.
Samarin - August 31, 2006 09:31 PM (GMT)
do demi gods get in? or can we only stand half in half out?
Lothlómendil - August 31, 2006 09:36 PM (GMT)
Guardians are allowed in too, of course! :p
Zenith Meria - August 31, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)

What about Chosen? Meh, I mean, c'mon, Charlotte would love to jump off something that high...

I have a feeling when the cat is out, the mice are left to play.

What?

IOW, No, the chosen are most likely not aloud to confer at Aman with the more divine.
Basically, the foodchain as I see it goes like this:
1. Loth
2. Other Gods
3. Demi-Gods
--Divinity Line--
4. Chosen
Almost, but not quite. Isuppose if a Goddess or God really wanted a Chosen with them, they would bring one along though.

You *majorly* overestimate the power of a deity's chosen. It doesn't grant you any special powers.
Chosen will not be allowed into Aman.

He never said being a chosen gives you powers...

I know, but you did say that it made you almost divine, being right next to the divinity line. Which it doesn't in any way, which is what I meant by not getting powers.
At any rate, back on topic? New forum - Aman: Discuss!

I'm gonna build a giganourmous ladder and climb up to it! I'm gonna infiltrate SECRETLY and then I'm gonna go over to Loth's section of the city and I am going to steal some GOLDFISH and ANIMAL CRACKERS. I will leave a small thank you note and then be trapped up in the floating city until the end of time, as I have an incredible fear of climbing down giganormous ladders.

The place is cool, no doubts. I'll make sure to steer clear of the prison though. But, it's not like I'd ever be there  I'm interested to see what kind of role this forum will play in Arda. Obviously as the meeting place for deities, but I can't help but think that there's more....
EDIT: I just read the actual description. This place is awesome. Maybe I'll live there, being an elf an all... :shifty:

*Ponders about what kind of plot could be cooking right now, or in the future...*
Lothlómendil - September 1, 2006 09:34 PM (GMT)
Since we added this forum, I thought it would be cool to add a little related info to the Sanctuary of Angels forum description. This is the new first part of the description:

| This holy city near the western coast was built long ago to provide safety and peace to those in need. It is said that the city was built upon the hallowed land where Aman rested during its time of descent. |

SWEET! I'm joining Aloric in stealing your hordes of animal crackers and goldfish.
Unfortunately, some idiot down on Arda probably is gonna think that its a huge tree and cut off my only route to escape.

Well, once all the dieties get addicted to Aman, they're probably going to move out of their temples. I call moving into Loth's temple!!
