Title: A Sufficiently Dark Corner
Description: Private (Shayia)
BehindtheScenes - August 24, 2006 10:47 AM (GMT)
The hustle and bustle of city life, the vendors, shouting out deals that were better than those of the vendors directly across the street, the jovial singing, and the crem de la crem, the laughter of children. It was all so irritating. Which is why Beir had come here, Wilwaren. He had heard that this place was, though it was better than most pubs in the city, still a fairly quiet place.
No one had questioned his age as he came in, probably because he looked about 5 years older than he actually was. Content with what had happened, he sat back in his chair, drumming his fingers lightly on the table. He continued to do this for several minutes before getting bored. His short attention span was going to be the death of him, as well as anyone else near him.
He beckoned over a fairly drunk patron, and stood up as he did so, until they were eye-to-eye, only a few inches away from eachother. Wtih a chuckle, he opened his right eye and closed it again quickly, like a sort of inverted blink. The man was motionless. Beir chuckled. "Boo." The man fled in terror, and Beir shrugged, feigning ignorance. "I've heard of angry drunks, happy drunks, loose drunks, and stupid drunks, but never scared drunks. Well, whatever." He sat back down, thoroughly amused, and quite pleased with himself. He hadn't expected it to be so effective, especially not on a drunk.
But, of course, as he should have expected, the little escapade had drawn someone's attention, and they approached him. He did not turn to look at them, meerly keeping them in his periferal vision, right hand reaching for the hilt of his blade, which leaned against the wall, in case things got ugly. "Yes?"
(325! Now that's what I'm talking about!)
Shayia - August 24, 2006 11:17 AM (GMT)
Shayia had seen the drunk run off with his tail between his legs. "Shayia, go over and see what’s going will you, he won't hit you" said the barman she had been in there all morning hiding from the sunlight. "I wouldn’t be too sure about that" she said standing and walking over slowly, she had not revealed to anyone she was a vampire yet. She stood at the table and heard him say "Yes?". "Are you going to cause trouble for everyone in here or are you going to behave yourself" she asked quite annoyed.
Every time someone entered or left the bar the light burned her eyes, it was painful and it made her irritable. She had her hand on her staff to block any attack he might throw her way. The drunks were only adding to her headache. Well let's see how this turns out in the end, she said to herself.
(i'm so sorry about how long it took me and how little i wrote i'll improve as we go on)
BehindtheScenes - August 24, 2006 11:29 AM (GMT)
(No worries.) A staff? Beir thought bitterly. "Cause trouble for everyone?" Who does this woman think she is? Well, whatever. I don't wanna ruin my good mood, and she's not half bad-looking, so I'll let it slide.
He chuckled. Not a mischevious one, like his last, but simply an amused one. "Nope. I'm fine. That one was just particularly loud." He took his hand off of his sword, the greatest sign of trust he could grant someone, aside from telling them about his eye. "The name's Beir. I'm still new to the area, so forgive me if I offend any of your customs."
Beir looked at the barkeeper and then back at the young woman. He had said something to her before she approached. "You work for him?"
(159? God... I really am getting rusty.)
Shayia - August 24, 2006 12:05 PM (GMT)
“No! I do not work for him, I just need to stay in here until dark and until my headache passes, but let me ask you a question if I was just another man would you have drawn your weapon?” She asked still not reveling her name or that she was a vampire. The bar was still as loud as ever and it was getting on her nerves.
There was one certain group of drunks that were causing most of the noise, hooting and calling the women of the bar. One of them will die tonight she said to herself, looking over at them as she waited for the man in front of her to reply.
BehindtheScenes - August 24, 2006 12:19 PM (GMT)
Ah... a feminist. Well, whatever. She can think what she wants to think. "If you made an agressive move against me, I wouldn't care what gender you were. Does that answer your question?" Something struck him, finally. Waiting until dark? Damn it, don't tell me it's another vampire... What are the odds? And, worse yet, what are the odds that she's not hungry? F***. Well, fine. I'll just see how things go.
It was hard to think with the group as loud as they were, and he was sincerely tempted to gut each and every one of them, but that probably wasn't such a good idea. Far too many witnesses. He looked back at the woman who refused to giver her name, something that unnerved him. "May I shut them up? Or at least one of them? I won't scare him nearly as bad as I did that other guy. Or, will you kill me if I do that again?" He was fully aware that she was more than a match for him, especially with his hand so far from his sword. If she did want to fight him, he'd have to do so unarmed, which was something he was not good at.
(227. Well, at least I'm staying above 150.)
Shayia - August 24, 2006 01:08 PM (GMT)
“Why yes it does answer my question, good answer” she said as a smile crossed her lips, “It’s not my place to tell you what to do, but since you asked yes you may shut them up and me kill you, maybe” she said joking and then turned her back and walked towards the group of drunks. This should be interesting let’s see how strong he really is she thought. She approached their table it was cover in smoke and spilt ale, and it smelt really bad.
Shayia put her hand on one of the men’s shoulders and stuck her nails into his skin the rest looked at her surprised as she asked “Is everything ok here?” she said sarcastically, the man now had a bleeding shoulder and drew his katana, he missed when he swung at her, she had an evil sort of smile on her face and laughed the bar went silent and the men stood up from their seats.
BehindtheScenes - August 24, 2006 01:55 PM (GMT)
Good. She's fun. He stood up, cracking his knuckles. And this will be, too. Grabbing the hilt of his blade, he walked behind the young woman, and feigned beginning to attack her, but slammed his blade down on the table, splitting it in two. This ignition, a very rash move by Beir, was all that was needed to set off a brawl, with almost everyone in the bar moving at once.
Beir's foot flew into one's face, sending him against the wall. On the recoil, however, someone jumped him from behind, and, were it not for the wall to his immediate right, might have ended it right there. After a few good slams, the unconsious drunkard let go, and fell on the ground in a heap. Beir took no time in burying the point of his sword in his throat and twisting, bringing off his head. "Two down, twelve to go."
(163. It seems my average is about 175. I should remember that.)
Shayia - August 24, 2006 03:06 PM (GMT)
Shayia watched as two men ran towards her with their fighting knives, she pushed one back and he hit his head off a table, but the other got her with his knife and twisted it, he tried to kill her but failed. She pulled him towards her and bit into his neck, she had cut the vain and blood splashed out everywhere and down her throat, then she dropped the lifeless body and continued to fight. Her clothes and mouth were covered in the mans blood, this told everyone she was a vampire, a few got frightened by this and left the bar.
She pulled the knife from her body and threw it at one of the men not caring weather it hit him or not, she looked down to her wound and watched it heal before her eyes.
BehindtheScenes - August 24, 2006 07:56 PM (GMT)
So, that kind of a wound can't harm her. Well, then I can worry about my own skin. And it was a good thing too, because all six of the remaning ones had figured that, if they couldn't kill the woman, and they were going to die anyways, why not take the other one down with them?
So, Beir was jumped by six men, three with weapons. One of them had a dagger, one a chair, and one a large jug. He could have taken them up to 3-on-1, but with six, he could barely even move. And, what was worse, he couldn't get eye contact with any of them.
He could only stand under the weight of six fully-grown and ale-gutted men for a moment, and collapsed to his knees, trying to focus all of his attention on simply staying up and consious under the weight and blows. The dagger was the greatest threat. But, unfortunetly, he could do nothing before it was buried in his back. He let out a yell of pain, and collapsed. "G-get... off... me..."
(198. I thought it was higher than that.)
Shayia - August 25, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Shayia walked over to where Beir had collapsed, She then smiled and let out a high pitched screech, the men got up and covered their ears, some bent over in pain. When she stopped the screech echoed through the whole bar, which left the men without the use of their hands.
As one of them was beginning to stand Shayia walked over and hit him with the back of her hand, strangely enough he went flying through the doors and landed outside, because she was a vampire she had a lot more strength than any mortal woman and also than a lot of men.
“Your not giving up that easy, are you?” she said to Beir, her eyes then turned a light purple colour and her fangs appeared.
BehindtheScenes - August 26, 2006 05:06 PM (GMT)
With a grimace and a groan, Beir yanked the dagger from his shoulder, tossing it aside, and looked up. "Not on your life." He responded coyly, getting back on his feet. They were starting to get up, but it didn't matter. It was time to get serious. One by one, as they stood up, he'd grab their throat, open his right eye, and shove his blade through some painful part of their body, preffering to cleave one of them in two.
He dropped the last one, and grinned at the sounds of their moans of anguish. I'll let her decide what to do with them. He looked over at the innkeeper, who was simply staring in terror. "Don't worry. You did nothing to upset me. You'll be spared."
Beir then looked at the vampire who still had not given him her name. "I'm not sure about you, but I should get out of here. I'm sure you could handle hundreds of these guys, but the city guard is a bit more than a match for me." He pulled a bit of intestine off of his sword. "Thanks for the help, by the way."
Shayia - August 26, 2006 08:21 PM (GMT)
Shayia nodded “ Well so much for not drawing attention to myself, It would be best if I left too” she put the hood up on her cloak and proceeded to leave the bar the sun was beginning to set so it did not effect her that much. “The names Shayia” she told him as she step out on the cobblestone road.
It was quite busy outside people were returning home from work and entering the bars to have a few drinks with friends.
((sorry for shortness))
BehindtheScenes - August 27, 2006 12:17 AM (GMT)
(No prob. It happens.)
Beir nodded, and wished he had a hood, if just to hide his face. As he stepped out, he immedietly wished he had used (or made) the back door. "THERE THEY ARE!" Shout the voices of several humans, wielding spears, and clad in steel breastplates, apparently the local guard. "DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY!"
"Who the heck would have thought that they'd get here so soon?" He wondered to himself, taking hold of his blade. He prepared to run down the opposite side of the street, but saw some coming from the other direction as well. They were trapped like rats. No, I'm trapped like a rat. Grabbing the nearest civilian, he put his sword to their throat, and began backing into the inn again, dragging the terrified villager with him. He was drawing their attention quite quickly, which was his intent. "You want me?" He taunted, slowly pulling the inn door back open with his feet. "Come and get me!" Taking the hostage, Beir backed into the inn. He quickly slit their throar, then made a mad dash up the stairs, followed by about 20 of the 30 guards. That'll be enough for her to get away. He thought to himself, leading them up to the third floor, then up to the roof through a window. He could see most of the city from up there, and was very aware that if he fell, he was done for. Looking down at the crowd, he shouted at what seemed like no one in particular, but was actually at Shayia. "Now we're even!"
(307! Whee!)
Shayia - August 27, 2006 03:31 PM (GMT)
Shayia simply smiled “Not by a long shot” she yelled back up to him, she climbed a pipe close to the inn wall, then jumped and grabbed the roof her nails stuck into the side of the roof and she jumped up. “What you think I’d leave you have all the fun?” she said and drew her staff from her back, She ran towards a few guards and pushed through them, two fell from the roof and the other was hanging from the roof for his life, she slapped his hand with her staff and he dropped, she could hear his bones crack as he hit the cobblestone ground, she then turned to the rest of them there were way too many to handle.
“Follow me if you want to live” she said and jumped from the roof, she landed on a canopy just above the inn and bounced off of it the landed on the ground. “It will hold you” she said reassuring him, she knew the guards Armour would be too heavy and they would tear it if they jumped.
