Title: Attack of the Dead
Description: Open to all!

gracefulassassin - August 18, 2006 11:51 AM (GMT)
The moon shifted out from behind a thin cloud, throwing the barren desolace of Dori'ba into harsh moonlight. Nothing moved, the leafless trees were still, the ground was filled with shadows and the wind was non existant. Something in the shadow of a large gravestone stirred, and a small, blonde haired girl stepped out into the light.
Jess looked around in puzzelment. The tree before her was definetely familiar. She groaned, knowing full well that she was worse then just lost. She had no provisions, no food or water and the sun seemed to of set rather fast. She kicked the dirt in anger, slamming her foot accidently into the gravestone.
Swearing loudly, she rubbed it then froze, as a sharp crack echoed through the dead still air. Setting her foot down carefully, Jess flinched as the cracking sound started again. Slowly, she drew both the swords from her back. She knew what the sound meant.
Twice since the moon had risen had she heard the same sound. IT could only mean one thing. Zombies.

Not wasting a moment, Jess spun, her swords flashing, and felt them slam into the soft flesh of an attacker. Ducking under a strongly swung fist she dropped to the floor and rolled, tripping up another zombie who crashed to the ground with absolutely no expression. Flipping to her feet, the half elf beheaded the first zombie then drove her blades through the skull of the one on the ground. She watched as he seized up suddenly and froze.
Sheathing her swords, Jess flopped to the ground at the base of the tree with a sigh, wishing that she could find her way out of this god-forsaken place. Truth was, if she didn't find a way out soon, she would die of thirst or starvation in a matter of days.

Tanya - August 18, 2006 05:42 PM (GMT)
Tanya walked patiently through the land of the dead, looking at the many graves, she was amazed how some seemed to have died so long ago while others more recently. She began to hum and looked about. She was glad she had brought some food and reached into a small pouch that was by her side taking out some berries and throwing them up and catching them in her mouth. After about five she put the rest of them away and continued. Suddenly she heard a crack and moved her staff in front of her changing it from a walking stick to a weapon and backed against a tree keeping a sharp eye out.

Suddenly she heard the sound of blades and turned and looked around behind the tree. She saw a woman there who fought off two zombies. She watched in awe as the woman moved quickly and was able to defeat them easily, something that would have taken her about ten minuets to do. The woman flopped down under a tree. She smiled and gave a laugh, "That was amazing! I cant believe you took them down! That was sooo cool." she said with a smile walking up to her using her staff again as a walking stick.

gracefulassassin - August 18, 2006 11:51 PM (GMT)
Twising around in surprise, Jess hastily got to her feet as a small girl with fair hair wandered into view. 'Why thankyou.' she smiled, noting how frail the girl seemed. 'I find that fighting seems to happen alot around me.'
The half-elf glanced up at the sky and noticed that the moon was again behind a cloud and was just starting to peek out again. 'Oh no...' she muttered, drawing her swords again.
When the girl beside her glanced at her quizically, Jess nodded at the moon which was fast leaving the cover of the cloud. 'I've noticed that everytime the moon hides behind a cloud and comes back out again, the zombies come back.' The girl looked alarmed and Jess watched, impressed, as the frail seeming girl readyed herself, staff infront.
Grimly, the half-elf dropped to a combat position, swords held ready, waiting for the right moment. The all too familiar crack echoed through the barren graveyard, and the ground before them split open. Five zombies climbed out, with expressionless faces and shambling steps. 'Here we go...' Jess murmered, then dove forwards, swords flashing.

Hlormar Wolfang - August 19, 2006 12:40 AM (GMT)
Wolfang wandered through the Land of the Dead, not even sure where he was going himself. He was wandering for the whole day now, but apparently it was night time. He looked up at the black sky and saw the moon briefly hide behind behind some clouds, then come out again. All of a sudden he heard noise, but not just any noise. It sounded like combat. Swords if he wasn't mistaking. He drew his own claymore, from its sheath on his back and moved as quietly as he could towards the source of the disturbance. He was no master at stealth, but in the shadow of a large tree he was sure the two women would not be able to spot him.

Should I help them? Assault them? Or wait? Waiting, that seems to be the best approach. They can't hold off a zombie assault for too long. When they're dead, I can go and loot their corpses. Zombies don't take anything anyway...

He was just about to get comfortable so he could watch the fight, when he heard a zombie moan behind him. In fact, it was so close that he felt it's undead grasp on his shoulder. He shook it off, stepped a couple paces back, and swung his claymore right at the zombie's neck. He felt satisified when he heard the decapacitated head fall to the ground with a thud.

I suppose I'm with them now...

Wolfang rushed to where the women were assaulted by zombies, shouting a war cry, and exhibiting no subtlety at all. His claymore was lifted high above his head, in a ready position to attack the zombies from behind. He brought the giant sword down on top of a zombie's head. It cut through the skull, getting lodged about half way in its head. He jerked it back out with a heavy grunt, a feat feasible thanks to his prodigious strength, and stabbed it in the direction of another zombie. The blow connected, his sword being lodged once more in the body of an enemy. He twisted his sword, wanting to cause excruciating agony, only to remember that zombies felt no pain. He jerked the sword back out, and sent another blow at the zombie's neck, cutting it's head clean off.

"Would you like some assistance lassies? Or do you have the situation under control?" he asked with a smirk, leaving three of the zombies alive.

gracefulassassin - August 19, 2006 01:09 AM (GMT)
'That depends.' Jess laughed, rolling under the legs of a zombie and slamming her blades into its back. 'We dont need assistance but it would be very welcome.' She made a sudden trilling sound and a black hawk dove out of the sky, screeching and snapping it's beak. The bird pecked savagely at a zombie who had been trying and failing to sneak up behind his mistress.
Jess spun and casually flicked her belt dagger at the zombie, listening contentedly as the dagger slammed into its neck. Yet, still he came and Jess remembered almost too late that he didn't need to breathe to survive. Diving out of the way of his clawed hand, she spun and lashed out at his neck again, this time with her swords, beheading the beast with one clean swipe.
She retrieved her dagger and cleaned it on the rags of a fallen zombie. Sheathing it, she looked around for the remaining zombie who seemed to of disappeared. 'Well that was interesting.' she murmered, wiping her swords clean. The moon was out now and no more clouds were in sight, so Jess dropped to the ground infront of the tree again, eyes closed.
The black hawk perched on her shoulder and she murmered quietly to him. He snapped his beak and she quietend him.
'God I hate zombies.' she sighed, opening her eyes and looking at the two infront of her. 'I don't think I've even introduced myself yet.' the blonde girl smiled. 'My name is Jess, and this is Jet.' she said, indicating the bird on her shoulder.

Hlormar Wolfang - August 19, 2006 02:27 AM (GMT)
He was going to provide assistance, but by the time he lifted his sword again and got ready to strike, there was nothing to strike at. Instead, he slammed it into the soft soil, and walked over to the tree where the woman was sitting.

"Ay, you can call me Hlormar, and that's a mighty fine bird ya got there," he replied to her greeting. Manners weren't really a priority for barbarians, so he didn't waste any time on them.

"Ya happen to have anything to eat or drink? Last time I ate was at noon, when I killed a buck for lunch, and drained a bottle of wine. Only now is the hunger gettin to me," he said. Although a whole buck probably wouldn't fit in most people, he was rather large and had an appetite to match his size, and it was made public as his stomach let out a a ferocious growl. Wolfang grinned sheepishly, and awaited a reply.

gracefulassassin - August 21, 2006 06:14 AM (GMT)
When Hlormar told them of his last meal, Jess raised her eyebrows in surprise, wondering at how it was even possible for someone to eat an entire buck. But when he asked if she had any food, she her hands helplessly and shrugged.
'I'm sorry, but I have nothing, save my clothes and weapons. I ran out of food last night, for I have been here for days at least.' Had it really only been days? It felt like months. Jet moaned softly, clicking his beak and Jess silenced him with a reasurring murmur.
Looking back up at the barbarian, Jess found that from this angle, she could easily see him eat a whole buck on his own. 'Did you really eat a whole buck?' she asked with interest. Hlormar shrugged and muttered something under his breath that sounded like, 'It's not that impressive.' and Jess laughed, the first time since she had entered this barren place.

Tanya - August 21, 2006 01:44 PM (GMT)
Tanya had been surprised at the two who were with her. She smiled as the man gave his name, "Ay, you can call me Hlormar, and that's a mighty fine bird ya got there, Ya happen to have anything to eat or drink? Last time I ate was at noon, when I killed a buck for lunch, and drained a bottle of wine. Only now is the hunger gettin to me." he said. She went wide eyed in amazement, "WOW! You ate a whole buck?" she exclamed. 'My name is Jess, and this is Jet.' said the woman. Tanya smiled and nodded to them both and then to the bird. "I am Tanya Ecnarudne, a humble adventurer. And although I have no buck I have some smoked meat and some berries you are both welcome to." she said opening her small pouch that hung around her waste. It was full of Raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and some smoked jerky. She was about to get some when suddenly she grabbed her shirt over where her heart was and she held her staff tightly bitting her lip in pain.

This only lasted for a minute and then she returned to her smiling self. She reached for her pouch and then took out some handfulls and gave each person some. She then sat down on a rock covered in moss and had some blackberries herself. "So what brings the two of you out here if you don't mind my asking?" she said popping some berries into her mouth. She doubted she would be surprised at their comments. After all, she herself was there because the sence of adventure led her here. She was sure there was something exciting about to happen.

DragonRider - August 21, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
Shadow was flying over the land of the dead when he saw corpses on the ground ripped apart. "Yup you can tell this is the land of the dead when zombie corpses are on the ground." Shadow continued to fly over the land. He saw some people on the ground eating but he just ingnored them. Shadow contiued further in exploration of the land. He was curious to see what this place was like.

He had flown about 2 more miles a head and found an old crypt. "I wonder?" He walked up and looked at the door. There was writing on it. "Beware if this crypt is opened the dead shall come to life." He pushed on the door but it wouldn't budge so he stepped back a bit and shot a fireball at it and the door just exploded into little bits and pecies. He walked in and looked at the coffins. He walked up to one and it had writing on it. "Here lies the body of a sorcerer who did evil things." Shadow read aloud. "Damn why do I always get the evil ones."

A giant flash went through the room and then the coffins began to shake violently. Then a hand busted throught the wood. "This is not good." Shadow ran out and saw that corpses began to rise from the ground even without the moon showing.

Hlormar Wolfang - August 21, 2006 09:40 PM (GMT)
Wolfang was just about to reach for the food and reply to the questions of the ladies, but it seemed that they had bigger problems. It looked like someone had awoken the zombies. That had to be the only explanation as the moon was safely tucked away behind thick clouds.

"Someone woke up the corpses," he announced his thoughts to the group. He could just see the soil beginning to move. With haste, he got up from his comfortable spot at the base of the tree and yanked his sword back out of the black soil. He grabbed the sword, and with it's point down began stabbing it repeatedly into the ground in various places, trying to kill as many of the zombies as he could before the fully came out.

"Well don't just sit there! Help me out!" he yelled in the direction of Jess and Tanya.

DragonRider - August 26, 2006 12:50 AM (GMT)
Shadow stood there watching as the zombies began to pop up from the ground. "Why do I have to be so curious all the damn time." Shadow pulled out his sword. "Flameblade!" Shadow's sword burst into flame. "This should do some damage." He began to run about the ground sliceing at every zombie that was standing. After each zombie he put back down two more took it's place. AS he was fighing the zombies in the crypt began to come out. He began to count. "1...2...3...4...5...wait a minute there were six coffins in there." Shadow was then grabbed by a hand that came up out of the ground.

"What the..." He looked down and struggled to get free but he wasn't able to. More zombies began to latch onto him, he then wasn't able to move. As he was being held there a dark light flashed in the crypt and finally the last zombie came out. "Great the sorcerer is alive again." The use to be dead sorcer levitated over to Shadow. "I want to thank you for releasing me from my prison." "Well go back to your prison or else." The sorcerer just looked at him. "You have a lot of spunk warrior, oh I am going to enjoy takeing your body." Shadow laughed at him. "Great your one of those sorcers who can't keep their original bodies and you have to steal everyone elses. Hate to burst your bubble, but that new ariival in the underworld that was a sorcere yeah he tried the same thing with me, he almost succeeded but in the end I got my body back, yeah I am the one who sent him down there." "You fool unlike him I do not need a spell and ingredients to take what I want."

Shadow's eyes widened. "You won't get my body!" Shadow began to focus and heat began to emit from his body and then his body caught fire and he unfolded his wings and began to fly. "Not without a fight sorcerer. I am going to put you back in your prison." Shadow began to dive at the sorcerer.

Rallika - September 8, 2006 10:04 AM (GMT)
Rallika continually slashed at the zombies continually shooting out of the ground. This is madness! Why are these things popping up at me? They're everywhere" Rallika sliced off a zombie's head then two of them grew from the neck. Terrified Rallika stabbed the heart of the zombie and ran. He saw sight of someone in trouble and then saw the crypt "why the crypt? Why is undead always involved with crypts?" Rallika's left foot hit a jagged rock and sent him tumbling and his sword flying into the air. Rallika stopped rollin with his face in the sorcerer's face and they stared at each other for 3 seconds when Ralka's sword sliced right through the sorcerer's head. "Well that was cheap." Rallika's sword flew right out of the sorcerer's head and into a carcass "Ooooookaaay this ain't good"

DragonRider - September 9, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
(do not control my characters actions, unless given the approval by me)

Shadow continued to fly above the ground and continueously fire a barrage of fireballs at the zombies. He kept flight and the sorcerer below eyed him carefully studying how Shadow used his abilitites. "So warrior you are not a normal warrior you are a fire elemental. That type of body will do just fine for me." Shadow was getting very angry at the sorcerer. "You know what, bring it on. Becuase you won't be able to take my body." Shadow leaned forward and dive bombed the sorcerer and knocked him to the ground. Shadow then noticed someone coming in his direction and landed lightly on the ground folding his wings. He saw the figure stumble and his sword went flying. As the figures sword went flying he heard the sorcerer get up from the ground and heard the other figures sword go right through his head. Shadow then said to himslef. "This person is going to get himself killed, I can tell that he has just recently arrived in arda. Now waht side is he fighting on?" Shadow turned as the sword flew out of the sorcerers head and into a zombie carcass. The sorcerer then said. "Pathetic fools you can't kill me I am already dead." Shadow smirked. "There is a way to kill you again, just rip your soul apart and you will be no more." The sorcerer got angry. "Forget about me taking your body, you are just really starting to annoy me." The sorcerer created a sword through dark magic and charged at Shadow.

Rallika - September 10, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)
Rallika dashed to get his sword and saw the massive wound his sword made. The gaping hole in the sorcerer's head obviously hurt and was slowing him down "great that'll slow him down" he thought as he grabbed the hilt. Rallika pulled his sword out with ease and charged at the sorcerer. The sorcerer was getting closer to Shadow but Rallika was gona get the sorcerer in the side. Rallika then slid on the ground with his leg out, tripped the sorcerer and slashed at his arms. Rallika got up, faced Shaodw and yelled "whatever you're doing do it now!!!"

DragonRider - September 11, 2006 05:27 PM (GMT)
Shadow grunted. "I would but I don't have the spell to trap the sorcerers soul at this time." Shadow pulled out his sword and cast flameblade. He then walked over to the sorcerer. "This is a sorcerer I am going to send for help. I know someone who deals with souls." Shadow called down his hawk and told it to find the one from port adune that helped him or someone else that can deal with souls. "Go Saphira find then anyone you can that deals with souls." The hawk flew off into the sky and out of sight. "Now time to hold off until help arrives." The sorcerer used his magic to push himslef up. He then used his magic to reattach his arms. "This may take a while." Shadow slashed at the sorcerers chest causing a big cut on him.

Nuru - September 18, 2006 01:54 AM (GMT)
Nuru sat beneath what was once an elegant archway, that was now a crumbled pile of stone. The night's breeze carried the soft call of voices to her ears and the light flap of wings met her sensitive hearing. They were short beats, meaning shorter wings... a hawk, she assumed. Her lips curved into a slight smile as she reached her hands foreward and pulled herself up, onto her feet. A tribal scarf covered her otherwise useless eyes, the blindness in them causing little hinderance to the spirit talker. Her eyes saw the souls of the dead, and living, floating idly over the grounds, none of which paid much attention to her. She studied her surroundings through the movement of the spirits, and put her feet to use, following one of the more interesting specimens. It seemed to speak of an angry being only a few yards away... and several living beings suffering because of it...

((OOC: Sorry for the short and crappy post... I didn't know how you wanted me to enter in here...))

DragonRider - September 18, 2006 04:38 PM (GMT)
(that's fine, you can enter into my fight any way you like.)

Shadow stood there waintg for the sorcerer's next move. "Come on sorcerer make your move. I don't have all eternity." The sorcerer just stood there. Then while standing Shadow saw him moving his lips. "He is whispering an incantation spell." Shadow charged at him ready to swing his sword when the sorcerer made three copies of himslef. "What are you going to do now you pathetic fools. You can't possibly take on three copies of myself including the original." Shadow was getting angry. "You will be surprised sorcerer at what I can do." Shadow backed off a bit and pulled out his fist of mazzer. Then he looked at the warrior that just recently appeared. "Well are you just going to gock at the enemy or are you going to help fight?" While waiting Shadow had a uniqe ability. He was able to narrow his eyes to see far distances. He saw a blind women coming in their direction. "Well it seems we have company heading our way." saying to himself.

Rallika - September 20, 2006 10:30 AM (GMT)
"I plan to" Rallika replied as he jump-slashed at the sorcerer. The slash missed one of the copies and got repeatedly hit from a series of dark arrow blasts. However the copy was severely wounded but still could fight. The arrow attacks made several hits in Rallika's face and chest. Now really angry Rallika grabbed the copy by the collar and placed his blade by his enemy's neck. "Any last words?" "Surprise" The copy shot Rallika with a blast aimed at the chest. It send Rallika flying into a dead tree. He felt dazed and saw the copy holding a dark orb right in his face. "Any last words?" "Yeah, that's my line and you are dead!" Rallika attempted to kick the sorcerer copy off him but failed, his legs were being held down. "Now let's see what this soul is worth" the copy plunged the orb into Rallika's chest, causing Rallika to scream in agony. The pain felt like a million swords stabbing his head. Then the copy felt something extroadinary, something shocking "You're...not of this world are you?" "As...far as...I...know...no..." The copy was not paying attention to his spell as he changed it and blasted Rallika's heart. Rallika's eyes widened and felt like he was about to burst but then the pain subsided and it was replaced with dark power. (OOC: My Dark Regeneration Spell is now usable) The copy stepped back and clumsily tripped over a rock. Rallika got up and tackled the copy down. He placed his blade into his neck and blood trickled out "now to wipe you off the face off this planet for good!" he roared and slashed at the neck, killing the copy. He got up and saw the newcomer "if you're gonna help us then by all means do so but don't mess it up!"

gracefulassassin - October 14, 2006 09:45 AM (GMT)
A small figure darted out from behind the tree that had just got hit by one of the warriors. It flitted behind a second copy, weapons drawn. The copy must of got quite a shock as two blades suddenly poked out of the front of its chest, gleaming wetly in the pale moonlight.
Jess withdrew the weapons, then swore as she realised that the blades hadn't killed the copy at all, just annoyed it greatly. It swung around, blasting the space of air where she had been seconds before with a beam of dark energy. Jess rolled between the copies legs, sending him sprawling across the ground. Flipping to her feet, the small girl found herself standing next to a tall man with a longsword.
'How'd that happen? One moment I'm sitting calmly under a tree, the next I'm waging war against an undead sorcerer.' she winked at the man. 'Things just happen too fast.' and with that, she leapt straight at the very angry copy as it slowly got to it's feet.
The girl flipped over it and drove both swords into its back again, without much hope of killing the thing. She spun and watched as another copy drove its hand into the chest of another warrior until he kicked it off and slit its throat. Then the copy that Jess had attacked picked the small half-elf up by the back of her dress.
She struggled vainly, trying to kick the copy in the one place that hurt all men, but just couldn't reach. The copy started laughing evily, right up to the point when Jess threw down her swords and attempted to reach for her belt dagger. She couldn't quite reach it, let alone the one in her boot, so she slipped out her emergency dagger and promptly ran it into her captives' eye. He screamed and dropped her, clutching the bleeding eye in agony. Jess kicked him twice in the head then decided to copy the other warrior and slit his throat.
She picked up both her swords and looked around for the others. Seeing that they needed no help at all, she then started to put back her dagger, then thought better of it and wiped it first. It wouldn't be a good idea to put a bloody dagger back there.
With that done, Jess rejoined the battle, intent on taking down the sorcerer as soon as possible.
