Title: Resting
Description: Open to all
Marinar - August 5, 2006 05:26 PM (GMT)
A gust of wind wove it's way through the trees, the humidity hung thick in the air whilst rain drizzled down from the late evening sky. A tiny, muddy clearing provided the shelter for a single man, sitting in silence, motionless as the rain grew strogner and poured down around him. His back was hard up against a tree's trunk, panting as he sat in the mud, gripping a bloodied sword.
The sound of feet sloshing through mud and crunching twigs and leaves reached his ears, just how long he had been followed, he could not remember, since the first night he had entered the rainforest he had held a sneaking suspicion that someone was trailing him. But that had not stopped Marinar in the least. He had continued on in his wandering, his explorations of this Godforsaken place, somehow he had planned to find his way back out from the maze of trees, thorns and plants.
That's when they had found him. Primitives, looking for a sacrifice subject, armed with bow and spear, they came only a few at first, a small hunting party, but with each one Marinar defended himself against and slew, another seemed to appear. Darkness was settling in further, the canopy of trees only adding to the darkness that he was forced to run through.
For now, the natives seemed to have lost his trail and for a precious moment he could rest and catch his breath. If only for a moment, it could perhaps give him the energy he needed to escape his persuers. His fingers dug into the mud slowly as he forced himself not to pant for air, even the slightest noise could turn his assailants back to his trail and he knew it...

Tee looked up throught the canopy of trees as water began to drip through the leaves. She leapt up, jumping between two trees till she reached the top and came to rest in a tree rising above the rest. She looked out across the forest, rain was coming down and dripping through the leaves and there was a moderate wind in the air aside from the humid climate. Tee looked around at the scene, there was a clearing nearby and it looked like there was a person in it, he seemed exausted from what Tee could see. She dropped down from the tree landing catlike on the ground and straightening up. She looked in the direction of the clearing and walked towards it stepping between the trees. As she got about halfway there she though she heard a twig snap and the slosh of feet, it could be the man she'd seen or something else. She leapt back up into a tree and looked about, she could hear them faintly but couldn't see them. She passed it off as some kind of animal. She leapt onto the next tree and looked down at the man, he looked like he was listening for something.
"Hi, are you lost?" Tee asked him not trying to surprise him.
She dropped down lightly beside him and stood up straight looking straight at him.
"I'm Tee by the way, what's youre name?"

Marinar adjusted his grip on his sword, allowing his breathing to become aloud once more, slowly climbing to his feet and returning to his always commanding stature. Just then a shape fell before him from above, the form straightened up and spoke. It ahd been a long while since he had heard another intelligent creature speak directly to him.
He pressed his finger to his lips, signifying to her to remain quiet. It was too late, though, a twig snapped behind him and instinct kicked in, Marinar twisted around and drove his sword forward, the already reddened blade covered once more in fresh crimson, the tall, lanky tribesman stood with his spear ready to strike for a moment before going limp and sliding back off the blade.
"I'm not lost." Marinar's low, gravelly tone replied to the woman, the rain running down from the canopy and drenching Marinar's clothes and muscular form, the dark red washing off his blade as the rainwater flowed down it. He turned away then paused and looked over his shoulder, realizing he hadn't answered the woman's question. "I'm Marinar."

The man got to his feet and put a finger to his lips before turning about and thrusting his sword forewards into a primitive looking tribesman. Tee immediatly realised that she'd just blown the man's cover, but she could see no more of the tribesmen coming out of the forest towards them, she turned back to look at the man as the rain began to wash the blood off his sword and drench his clothes.
"I'm not lost." the man said in a gravely tone.
"Sorry, I'm a little reckless" Tee shrugged.
"I'm Marinar." the man said.
"Right, nice to meet you" Tee replied "so, that guy there. What's he want with you? Usual stuff tey come out with or is it something origional this time"

Safety was a rarity, it seemed like everywhere Marinar went there was someone hunting him, he had just accepted that fact though, and moved on. As long as he kept moving no one could stay on his trail for too long, these tribesmen were just another group in a long list of people who hated him for one reason or another.
"so, that guy there. What's he want with you? Usual stuff tey come out with or is it something origional this time" The woman asked, Marinar raised his eyebrow, unphased by the rain as it returned to a drizzle once again.
"It's beyond me... maybe I look edible or something. Marinar replied with a shrug. "Who knows, with the right seasoning it's possible. He slid his sword into it's sheath across his back, his fingers slowly running over the hilt as his hand pulled away and returned to his side.
