At midday, the port was thriving as sailors moved about their jobs while ships docked and left. Considering it was rather early in the year, it wasn’t too hot out but with the sun beating down in was warm enough.
And though there was a great deal of noise, one could seem to easily hearing the argument ensuing. An older merchant and a teenage girl stood almost nose-to-nose shouting at each other. A crowd of off-duty sailors had started to form, despite the fact that half of them couldn’t understand what was being said as it was in another language. The girl glared up at the man through narrowed blue-green eyes aglow with anger and the man replied with something then sneered. Shock briefly showed upon the girl’s face before anger replaced it and she closed the distance between them, her fist lashing out and catching—and breaking I might add—the merchant’s nose.
“Sexist Human,” Unda spat out at him in the common tongue as she stepped back to watch two of the sailors help the merchant up and as the merchant hurriedly moved away to find a healer.. Of course, Unda could’ve healed it for him but she wasn’t about to offer her services to him, not after what he’d said to her. She turned and, ignoring the sailors and others staring at her, moved away. As she did, the anger on her face slowly fell away to disappoint meant. That had been her last hope at finding a ship to take her home and the man had told her he ‘going to let some wench try to sail his ship’. Unda glared down at the dock beneath her booted feet, as though it would make her feel better.
Lutherius walked along the quayside watching people and saliors mill around him, it had been a while since he had last been in civilization. He scanned the crowd and surroundings around him until he noticed what he was looking for. A small fountain bubbled fresh water out in a shadowed recess in a wall. Lutherius walked over, his stained cloak trailing behind him as he moved through the crowd to the fountain. He knelt down next to it and plunged his hands into the cool pool. He greedily swallowed handfuls of water and splashed his face, letting it wash the grime and dust away. He fiddled with his water flask, flicking the lid off as he held it under the water as it replaced the air inside. Satisfied, he got up, clipped his flask in place and returned to wandering along the dock.
He stopped as he saw a crowd of saliors form around a confrontation on dock. Lutherius edged closer until he could see what was happening in the middle of crowd. A teenaged girl was arguing with a merchant in a language he recognised, but the girl's actions needed no translating. Lutherius couldn't help but smile as the merchant was dragged away, his nose dripping with blood. The crowd dispersed leaving him with the girl.
“Will I ever get home?” She muttered to herself, still glaring down at the docks while absently running a hand through her hair. The other hand, she wiped against her breeches in an attempt to rid it of the merchant’s blood.
“I could swim, yes, but that would be too dangerous I think...” She trailed off with a sigh of discontent and sank lower into her thoughts, now paying almost no attention to anyone around her. Of course, as it always seemed to happen, Unda ran into someone. Stumbling back a few paces, she looked up with a surprised, almost bewildered look on her face before realizing what she’d done.
“Ach, I’m sorry sir...” She started to apologize to Lutherius. Even in a bad mood, she would still try to be polite. “Very sorry, I wasn’t watching were I was going.”
ooc: Sorry it took me so long to reply and even then, It wasn't that good of a reply --;
"No problem as it seesm you have a lot on your mind," Lutherius replied "What did that mercheat do to deserve you cracking his nose like that? I caught a few words but my language skills aren't the best on the planet!" Lutherius shifted as the weight of his sword pressed into his back. "Would you like to discuss this sitting down, as i'm shattered from my journey here." He asked pointing towards a bench set in a recess near a fountain that spewed fresh water of of a fish's mouth. He stood waiting for her reply to his small barrage of questions.
