Adia stood outside the grand city, her wings spread wide and her short red hair moving softly in the breeze. Tears streaked down her cheeks as she stood without seeing the place of haven for which she yearned to enter. The beauty was beyond her, for she was blind and the demon inside of her spurned the place with a fury that stung. She was the outcast, forever denied entrance to peace. She was even denied the pleasure of viewing its shimmering pinnacles of light and goodness. She could only feel it like a tingling sensation that ran across her skin.
She listened to the sound of those who knew happiness and hid her demon side deep in the shadows of herself so she could enjoy their rippling laughter without disturbing them. For she knew if they even suspected her presence they would hunt her down, but she risked that to just sit in the presence of such goodness and feel its warmth around her although it hurt.
She had a darkness inside her that would awake any moment, and she was helpless to stop it. She knew it would come. It always did. And who was she to deny it? But for now it slept and she sat in momentary peace with her sadness, letting her senses take in her surroundings, keeping alert for danger. She came here often enough to know she was safe but she never let down her gaurd, for being blind left her with a disability that could get her killed if she were not careful.
Vega walked down the path through the city. She held her same look as she walked, the continuous blank stare that had become her trademark ever since she was betrayed. She vowed to defeat the captian of her old crew and take the ship as her own. She did not care who got in the way she would stop at nothing to fight him and win. She was a member of another crew on a ship as a healer.
As she walked she heard the laughs of the people around her. People who were carefree and safe here in this city. 'These people are so idiotc. They act as if they have no cares in the world. As if Raku and his army are not attacking the moon at this very moment. Some people are just so carefree that they think everything is right and perfect. Put them on a ship, pirate or not, and you can say bye bye to that nature and hello reality. she thought as she looked at them.
Then something caught the drows eye. A woman was standing out in the open in the entrance to the city. Vega stared at her for a few minuets, but she strangely did not come into the city. The female drow walked up to her, her white hair bouncing in its ponytail, her cold brown eyes that were close to the shade of root beer stared hard into the womans eyes. She stood a few feet in front of her, "Are you comming in or waiting for an invitation?
Adia couldn't see the woman but did not flinch at the unexpected voice.
"I'm not going in." she replied softly.
Her milky white eyes stared at nothing and no inkling of emotion stirred her features. She was once again calm, her sorrow pushed aside and forgotten for the time being. She had felt the tug of her other half and knew she had to leave.
Unlike her human and angel form, she had no control over her demon side. It came when it felt like it and refused to be commanded.
