Title: Praying
Cailyn - October 29, 2004 01:59 AM (GMT)
Cailyn walked silently up the street, she wanted to be quite quick in her prayers, and she was only staying in the area for a while anyway. She felt slightly odd, dressed in her traveling clothing, she felt it was disrespectful to the statue of the Imperial Archangels, but she had nothing that was in finer condition anyway. So she kept walking down the street.
She stopped several yards away from the statue, and she bowed her head, put her hand together, and started mumbling her morning prayers, when she was out in the wilderness she prayed every morning by a river, waterfall, lake, or stream, any body of water would do. It was a habit of hers, and since she was in the area she decided to pray by the statue.

Nalinč shrugged her bag onto her shoulders properly, and sighed. When she had left to go and earn a reputation unavailible in the small village she had lived in, she had promised to go straight to the Sanctuary of the Angels. And now she was here.
(And what IS 'here'?)
She looked around. It was early; most people were either just not out, or in attire not nearly as rough and hard as hers. Just as she was starting to feel very conspicious, she noticed a woman in the same sort of clothing as her. She was praying, though, so Nal left her alone for the moment.
(Maybe she'll want to talk,) she thought, then suddenly giggled inside. It had been quite a while since she had wanted to talk to someone; usually it was someone else who needed to talk, and she was just the person free.
Nal was starting to wonder if she should pray herself. (What would I pray for? Not to kill anyone?) she thought, thinking of the unavoidable in five days.

((Hope you don't mind me joining...))
Selina sat on the edge of a fountain rail, she had her feet crossed at the ankles and was swinging them gently. Enjoying her self, she quickly scanned the crowds of people coming in to worship in the sanctuary. A thin smile crossed her lips as one weary traveler passed by, with a quick and out of site hand she reached into his pocket and grabbed a small pouch of gold. Her smile grew and she let out a little yelp of a laugh and opened the pouch of gold and started to count it.
She didn't believe that the Gods and Goddess where real. She'd claimed that they where just fools who didn't know nothing about life, and just showed off fancy magic tricks. Everyone knew one or two magic spells, the few who claimed to be the powerful Gods and Goddess just knew a few more spells, and thats all. As far as Selina was concerned she could pick-pocket where and when she wanted and not get caught.
"One...Two...Three...Four...Five...One...Two...Three...Four...Five" She counted, being uneducated she could only count to five then start over. The same thin smile crossed her lips again, "Ha! I have 5, 5, 3, gold." She said as she tucked the gold back into the pouch and stuffed the 13 gold in her cloak's pocket. "That should last a day or two."

Nal sighed. She bent down to pray sliwly, serenely. I might as well, she decided, and reached to her pocket to grab a piece of silver she kept there for that purpose precisely.
And to her surprise, her hand didn't brush past her purse.
She whirled about, a photographic mind quickly scanning everyone she had passed.
Only one stood out. A girl, she couldn't have even been a teenager yet, had been the only person she had seen pass by close enough to snick something, anything, from her. And there she was, only a few metres away.
She sighed. She might be a thief, but she wasn't nearly as good at pickpocketing. So she quickly planned an idea and kneeled and prayed.
A blank, unthinking look spread onto her face as she finished, and she stood and walked back out the way she had come. Her hand slid under her cloak to where her sword hung from her hip. She closed her fingers around it.
She marched past, and, just as she passed, a hand dashed out and grabbed the girl by the scruff of her neck. She dragged her to a bench she saw a little ways away, and dropped her on it.
She slid her hood down to reveal a thin face with no expression whatsoever. Her cloak was silently slid back to show her sword, and her other hand was held out.
"Steal from the rich, would you? I'd prefer to be full in five days, rather than have to answer to the authorities," she said, purposely leaving out the reason.

As the ten-year-old girl was dropped onto the bench, Selina glared with hate at the women. "Of course, I steal from the rich. Who else has gold?" She said, "Boy, are you dumb not to figure that out." Selina shrugged and she turned her gaze to the sword, "Trying to scare me?" She laughed, "Please, I've been on the street longer then you to know that your only bluffing, and I'm only ten!"
She looked around the sanctuary and snickered, the crowed would be the perfect place to get lost in, she thought, More and more people are coming to pray! HA! Selina turned back to Nalinč, she didn't want to escape now, she was having to much fun. She tried not to laugh, as her cheeks turned a pinkish color. The half dragon looked at Nalinč's out stretched hand, "Want your gold back?" She asked, setting her gaze back on the woman's face, "Even with your sword, your not getting it back." Selina sat on the back of the bench with her feet on the seat. She swayed gently from side to side grinning at Nalinč.

"You think I'm rich?" she asked quietly. "Fine, then. I've been working for that money for four years. Haven't spent a touch of it until now. And I'm expecting it to last quite a time longer than someone... rich... might."
After a moment, Nal also took out her sword, turning it around to hold the blade in her hands. "Do you think someone rich would be holding a sword that is poorly crafted by their own hands, or would they be holding a perfectly tempered piece of art?"
She flipped it over in her hands and sheathed it again. "Of course, I could also keep you with me for another five days until you find out that there's reason to be full then. Tell me - do you like claws sinking into your flesh or something?" Her face was, at the most, mildly amused. Her arms were crossed in front of her thin body, though.

Selina's face dimmed, "No, I don't like claws sinking into me...I've had it done before too." She looked away from Nalinč, "You know where the Ered Annon Mountains are?" she asked, "Well, I once lived behind them mountains in a colony of dragons. Me, being a halfling, was shunded from the colony for not being as strong as the others, and lets just say the shuning ceremony isn't a nice sight to see. They push you around, and forcefully remove you from the colony." As she finished she turned back around and reached for the gold in her pocket, she pulled in out and set it in Nalinč's hand.
"here...I can always steal from someone else. Maybe they won't be as prepared as you." She said with a shrug, "Plus I don't think Bre, would want me to keep it." Selina sighed, Bre was Selina's new companion and maybe soon her foster mother. "Hey, how old are you anyway?" She asked, "You look only a few years older then me."
Nalinč Illinean - February 13, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
"Thank you." She quickly slid the gold back into her pouch. "You can't be more'n ten. I'm fifteen. You're a half dragon?" Nalinč had heard of them, but never met one. "So what's it like, being able to choose when you transform?" She stopped for a second, realising to whom she was talking. After all, this child had just tried to get away with her money, just a moment ago.
"I know what it's like to be shunned. It took me six years and three duels with various people before my parents would let me leave so they could stop moving. I..."
She stopped and bit her lip for a second, before continuing. "I'm a werewolf, you see. The kind where you change on the night you were bit on. Three guesses," she said bitterly, "on when that was."
After a second of thought, Nalinč reached back into the pouch of money and flipped her a single piece of gold. "Here. Have one. You returned my money. I've had people before who..." She paused, wondering how to say it. "They needed to bite the dust to be convinced I wasn't one to mess with."
Selina Tyrone - February 15, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
"Na, Keep it..." She said putting her hand out vertically. "If anyone would know what it's like to transform it's you..." She stood up started to walk on the edge of the bench with her hands out to keep her balance. Selina smiled, "But it might be a bit different, I'm not sure...It's hard to explain." She turned around and walked back across the bench, "Why'd you haffta move so much?" she asked softly as one small dragon wing formed in a purple glow, followed by a matching one. Selina was unaware that she had half-way transformed, "You know I lived in the Ered Annon Mountains for half of my life" She continued, "I never moved no where...What's it like?" she took a likeing to Naline.
Selina smiled kindly at her, as she gently flapped her huge-to-a-person-yet-small-to-a-dragon wings. "So...are you like a traditional were-wolf? Like the ones who can't touch sliver?" she asked, as she looked over into the crowed. It was getting bigger, but now that she had made friends she didn't feel in danger anymore, she had no reason to leave now. "I’ve never met a werewolf before."
