Title: Suggestions Forum Changed
Lothlómendil - July 3, 2006 07:42 AM (GMT)
Once again the Suggestions forum is getting too flooded with things, so I've had to make some changes to it. At first I considered closing it, or only leaving it open on weekends or something. But closing it completely is undesirable, and the opening and closing on weekends is too much of a hassle.
I have decided to set it so that all new topics are now set to "moderator preview." This means that new topics posted will not show up right away, they will be stored in a private moderator panel for me to look at when I have the time, then approve it for viewing in the actual forum. This will help slow the large amount of replies the topics are getting before I ever even get a chance to look at a topic, and it cuts down on the work I have to do in there that stems from the extra replies. I have also set it so that while I catch up, all replies need approval first as well.
Along with this change, I want to ask that you all please try and post suggestions that are about quality over quantity. I like hearing your suggestions, but I really need ideas that are well-thought out first and useful. It's difficult for me to manage the Suggestions forum because I am the one that has to approve or deny them all in the end, so I have to read every post made in there on top of all the other things I have to do in Arda and Imythess.
So yeah, from now on when you post your topic won't show up right away and you'll get a message about a moderator having to look at the topic first. Don't let it throw you off, and don't try and post your topic a second time because you don't see it after you post. :D

i think it will cut down on the number of people postng sugestions, so only the good ones get sent on to you then only the uber good ones get viewed... heck of a good idea loth

Well you know me anyway (sort of) :D this is actually better, though I would suggest assigning the forum to a different person, as I'm assuming you're moderating this one :( with too much of a load, I doubt the input of suggestions would drive people crazy ^_^

I think it would help if other admins could help you out too ;)

I noticed we also cannot reply to any open suggestions... is that how it works as well? So even our comments and insights on their suggestions would be screened as well?
I guess that helps block out "senseless" comments or those who do little to help develop the idea into something solid... I guess that's how it works?

Yup it's how it works... only realized it when I sent my reply by mistake twice before looking at this topic

The answer to this is in my first post in this topic.

Just as long as the constructive comments won't get blocked (and I'm sure that they won't), it's a great idea. Thanks for the rule change, Loth.
No, I'm not buttering her up. Why would you say that?
