Description: Open

Kerri Atalai - June 30, 2006 02:02 PM (GMT)
The white owl slid easily through the night air, seeking a city that she had only heard of before. The air was cool, and light as it rustled through her feathers and carried her forward as if it were welcoming her. The city slowly came into view, and instantly she became aware of just how grand it was, if for no reason other than the aura she felt about it. Wings pushed harder against the air, pulling her forward to close the gap between where she was and a safe spot to land. It seemed that few people stirred at this hour within the Sanctuary of Angels, leaving her with a quite night of thought and exploration ahead. The owl slowly dropped down, gliding through the air until talons touched the ground right before a large statue. Talons became feet as the owl shifted into the form of a slender human, feathers becoming long blond hair, eyes of brown now looking upon this statue she had landed before.

The breath she had just taken in was suddenly caught within her lungs, awe filling her as she let her eyes move up to meet the stoney gaze of the Archangel. She nearly lost hold of the tiny white feather that was kept between her fingers, the only sign left that the woman had been the owl. She tucked the feather away, amongst the pouches of herbs and such that were used for healing without magic. Hands free, she stepped forward to the statue, placing slender fingertips against the stone with such a tender touch. Slowly she exhaled, her chest returning to a gentle rise and fall motion as she felt a wave of tranquility wash over her.

Under the night sky, and before this magnificent creation, she felt as if she was truly alive. Her eyes went from those of the Archangel to the moon, wondering just what it thought of her as she stood in an amazed state at being in the presence of something that many would just see as a creation of stone. She slowly lowered her fingers away from the statue, drawing them down the surface of stone and then to her sides. Taking a few steps back, she found a bench to seat herself upon, then cleared her mind of thoughts so she could spend these hours before she went it search of sleep for peaceful meditation.

This time, however, was cut short as she heard a noise break through the void in her mind. Brown eyes darted about, looking for the source of the noise, though her mind told her it had to be friendly. It simply could not imagine any source of darkness being able to step foot within this holy city.

After having been wandering aimlessly for two days, Kai had found himself finally back at the Sanctuary of Angels. Perhaps the most pleasant place he'd ever been to, but right now, given that it was nighttime, the perfect place to get some rest. After all, evil wasn't allowed in this place, and the people here were friendly...though he still remembered how disconcerting it had felt the last time he was here, when his dark half still existed.

Wandering the streets silently, his hands in his pockets, Kai sighed softly to himself, realizing that the only place he really knew here was that noodle shop, or whatever it could be called, that he'd been to the previous time. He didn't even know if there were any inns or places to stay for the night here...though considering that he now found that he was in the center of the city, near the statue of the archangel, he realized that this wasn't exactly the best spot to look for one.

Then he noticed someone else in the area with a simple sniff, having been trying to track some large scent of food, which could lead him to a place to stay, or at least get something to eat to refresh his energy. He couldn't smell anything of the like anywhere nearby, but since he was here, there seemed little point in hiding himself from this person, and his green eyes glanced over to where they were, sitting on a bench not far from the statue, looking startled.

"Sorry if I disturbed you or anything...just looking for a place to stay right now, or at least get something to eat. Don't suppose you'd know of anywhere around here?" he asked, taking his right hand out of his pocket and scratching the back of his head, a nervous habit of his when talking to someone new by saying something random such as that.

Brown met green as she looked to the voice, her eyes then wandering over the newcomer as she attempted to discern what race he might belong to. She quickly gave up on that, as the best she could say was to guess that it was a fox of sorts, possibly a shapeshifter much like herself. That thought made her curious as to whether she would one day take on the characteristics of an owl, even while in her human form. None the less, this wasn't the time to be thinking of these things, as it was rather rude to ignore the question that had been asked of her.

"Hmmm, no, I can't say I would know of a place to stay. I've just come to this city for the first time tonight." She offered him an appologetic look, though she knew that she too would need the same places here in the near future, near the time when the sun began to push the moon from the sky. "I suppose it will be a bit before I sleep though, so I hadn't quite thought to consider finding a place to rest as of yet." Of course, it would only have sounded even worse if she admitted that she had pulled her last meal from trees and bushes, so she simply gave a slight shrug. "The same holds true for a meal as well, but that too I'd planned on finding later, which makes me not much of a help, huh? Oh! And poor manners to add to it," she suddenly added, realizing she hadn't even introduced herself. "My name is Kerri, and it is a pleasure to meet you."

She slipped a hand into one of the larger pouches at her side, pulling out a small parchment wrapped item. Carefully unwrapping it, she revealed a small meal of bread, cheese and dried meat. "Please, have some if you wish. Perhaps it will be enough to keep the stomach quiet until you find a more suitable meal." She offered the rations of sort to the newcomer, welcoming him to partake of it if he so desired. It was simple, as she wished for just enough to hold her over should she have found the sanctuary not to have been a city, but rather something like a small shrine. Fortunately, she was quite pleasantly surprised to find that it was much like she had hoped and would be a place to stay for a bit, possibly a place to learn.

Arelia - June 30, 2006 10:23 PM (GMT)
It was getting dark, and a woman looed around for some shelter. She noticed a temple of sourts and ran inside. Arelia walked slowly through the temple, her blue hair was in a long braid that reached the middle of her back, her eyes quickly grew acustomed to the dimness of the temple, she was only slightly damp and knew she would dry quickly. She walked through the temple and noticed the many angels that were statues. She kneeled next to one and rubbed off the dust. Greasha Orecleos the being was not an angel but a human, 'Strange that one who is a human would be in a place for angels. Perhapse she was a fallen angel who continued to serve the Goddess she loved.' She thought as she continued. She walked on and soon heard voices. She did not detect any evil yet so she merely continued on.

She soon came upon a fox-like being and what appeared to be a human. They had yet to notice her but they might take it as a threat if they found her without her introducing, they were probably guards set up to protect the temple. She took a deep breath and keeping her hand away from her katana she walked up to them, "Please forgive me but I have no where to stay for the night. If it is possible may I stay here untill morning? Then I shall be on my way." she said bowing to them as an introduction.

Kai sighed slightly at her response, seeing that he'd probably have to continue looking around at least a bit longer. Well, it wasn't too bad...at least there weren't any actual threats in this place, and he could last for at least an hour longer before admittedly collapsing in exhaustion. He really needed to stop wandering so much...maybe find a home somewhere...

Then he shrugged after she talked some more, finally introducing herself as Kerri. He didn't think it was that bad manners to be talking about that sort of thing in front of him, or not introducing herself after he had. True, it was a bit depressing that she couldn't help, but he didn't show this fact, especially since he'd been in too good of a mood in the recent week or so.

"Um...thanks..." he said slightly nervously as she offered a small meal, and walked over to the bench, sitting down and accepting it, immediately going for half of the dried meat...he was a fox, after all, though he still made sure to eat politely. Then he looked up in slight surprise as his ears perked up, noticing someone else now in the immediate area...a female warrior of some kind, it seemed.

"Well, I've admittedly been looking for a place to stay as well, but I don't exactly know my way around here...suppose here could potentially be as good a place as any, and we could share this little meal or I could go off and find something more," he offered, shrugging as he normally did when offering something.

Kerri Atalai - July 2, 2006 04:36 AM (GMT)
A second person joined in on the conversation, stating that she was also seeking a place to rest for the night. Truth be told, it wasn't something Kerri had considered, seeing as there were plenty of places an owl could call home, if it came down to needing one badly enough. These two, however, would not have that luxury, as best as she could tell. She glanced between the two, considering her words before she spoke, "I don't see any reason why the three of us can't go in search of a place to rest together. As much as I'd rather learn of this place under the night moon, I suppose I'd do much better coming out after the sun rises. It doesn't seem that much happens here after dark."

She placed a hand to the bench, pushing herself up to stand, her eyes looking to the statue of the Archangel once more. Her mind told her that the image held some secret to her past, yet she was unable to figure out the connection and quite willing to let it remain as it was. Pulling her eyes away from the stone, she began to look in each direction, wondering just which way might be best to find a place to call home while she was exploring the sanctuary. It was little use though, as she knew nothing about this place, so instead she looked to Kai, then Arelia, "So, where should we start?" She gave them both a slight grin, excited because it would be the first chance to explore, though nervous as she was unsure of what they would find.

Arelia - July 2, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
Arelia looked around, she was new here and did not like to be out in the dark alone. The woman had suggested that they go exploring, she looked to the side at an old pillar that was falling appart peice by peice. This place was old but sturdy, whoever built it made sure of it. She thought about exploring this place, it would do good to do so, she was not going anywhere tonight.

She watched the fox-being and wondered what he was thinking, she did not sence any evil intentions from him nor the woman who first suggested it. She looked around, she did not sence anything evil so she shrugged. "Well we are not really going to go anywhere any time soon so why not." she said nodding.

(sorry for taking so long, been thinking what to post)

"I don't see any reason why the three of us can't go in search of a place to rest together. As much as I'd rather learn of this place under the night moon, I suppose I'd do much better coming out after the sun rises. It doesn't seem that much happens here after dark," Kerri said, looking between him and the other girl that had arrived. "So, where should we start?" she continued, grinning slightly, and he scratched the back of his head thoughtfully, looking and perhaps more sniffing around the area.

"Well we are not really going to go anywhere any time soon so why not," the other girl said, and Kai stood up from the bench, looking intently over to a road a short which was on the opposite side of the statue to him.

"Over there seems promising enough...I can smell a bunch of food and such, so there are probably at least some restaurants, maybe even an inn," he said, looking over to the other two to see what they thought.

Kerri Atalai - July 25, 2006 08:38 PM (GMT)
So it was, the decisions were being made for them to leave this fine statue, and though she still had many things to contemplate, that would have to wait until later. It had been far too long since Kerri had shared company with anyone for longer than it took to heal someone or give a bit of hope to a person who seemed a bit lost. In truth, Kerri was rather fearful of creating any form of longer lasting bonds, as the marks of her past were still left within her mind. For one night though, she would share company with these two wanderers, for the mutual interest of finding what each needed. When night came a second time, she would return and have her words with the marble creation, say her prayers and then take flight once more.

Her eyes flicked in the direction the vulpine had suggested, then back to him as she gave a slight nod. "Seems as good of a way to go as any other," her eyes went towards their destination once more. She was quite sure that Kai had much stronger senses than her, as the distance a held mostly darkness and no real sign that food might be had by one traveling that way. One last glance was cast to the form of the arch angel, a silent promise to return made, and then Kerri took the first steps in the direction suggested, realizing that the three of them had taken forever just to get this far. While she had no interest in sleep, and only a bit for food, she realized that not everyone was a night owl as she was.
