Title: On the Roof

Shoshanah - June 26, 2006 05:05 AM (GMT)
Shoshanah looked up straight at the sun that was high overhead; sunlight had never caused her problems. It was such a nice warm day; she could not pass up the opportunity to spend some time in it. Lómëdor’s Inn had an accessible rooftop. Getting access to full sunlight was hard in a city, so she had jumped at the chance. Going over to a corner, she just sat down still staring at the sky. She was enjoying a peaceful stay here and the warm weather.

She did not know how long she had been there when her eyes began to close. The heat soothed her, allowing her to relax. She tried to shake it off, thinking about a couple new dress designs that had been running through her head. Currently she wasn’t dressed up at all, simply a black under shift of cotton with a red corset. The sleeves were long and big, allowing free movement. Unfortunately, the black was soaking up the sun as well, soothing her all the more.

Everything became hazy; she should have gotten up when she still had the will power to do so. Truthfully, she did not like leaving herself so open, but by now she was too tired to do anything about it. Her eyelids closed on the final thought of wanting a pillow.

Charlotte - June 26, 2006 05:23 AM (GMT)
Charlotte emerged from her room, after a quick nap, because of a long day of working the city streets. She had gotten a contract to do some minor guard duty. She walked around the city, and sometimes found a criminal to grab. Now, she liked catching lawbreakers and all, but it was tough work, and dug into her lazy time. The valkyre darted upstairs to the inn's top floor. There she took the trapdoor up to the roof, and walked to the center, where no shadows touched.

She removed her shirt, leaving only her sash. Char lay her shirt down on the roof, and then she removed her skirt. Underneath that was a smaller skirt, one that was just barely decent. Both of the undergarments today were green, in strong comparison to the whites of her skirt and shirt. She placed the skirt down, gently. Charlotte lay down upon the shirt, and then rolled over so her stomach was pointing up in the sky. She had the slightest tan right now. Then she heard the slightest noise, and the valkyre's head twisted upwards to spot a rather odd looking sleeper.

"Oh, I didn't mean to disturb your rest. I'm just up here to sunbathe." Charlotte explained. She groped at the spot where the hilt of her two handed blade was out of an old habit. Her own eyelids flicked shut, to block out the sun. Someday, someone would have to make something to block out the wretched luminescent orb!

Shoshanah - June 26, 2006 05:49 AM (GMT)
Shoshanah had barely awoken when she heard the voice of a woman. She seemed to be apologizing for something. As her eyes finally opened from their rest, she noticed a slightly pale girl in not that many clothes laying down in the sun. She had distinctively heard the word 'sunbathe', which was a very foreign concept to her. Her skin was always a cinnamon brown hue, being pale had never crossed her mind. The girl had her hand up, blocking out the sun. Shoshanah wondered if she realized this was a contradiction to her very act, why block out the sun if she wanted more of a tan, but then most people did had problems with the sun being in their eyes.

That was when she noticed the girl's other hand, which had wondered over to a nearby weapon. The girl was well toned, but she hardly looked intimidating, especially in that outfit. However, Sho had learned that she should never underestimate anyone.

"Don't worry, I am not going to surprise attack you." She said pointedly looking at the weapon. "Not to mention, I am not on top of my fighting game when I have just woken up. I am sorry that I took your spot; I didn't realize that anyone else came up here. My name is Shoshanah."

She stood up slowly, working out a couple kinks in her neck and straightening her dress out. Looking back up at the sun, she avoided looking at the girl in case she thought Sho was staring.

"So, sunbathing? Isn't that like dangerous? People can get burned if they stay out in it too long, right?"

Charlotte - June 26, 2006 06:01 AM (GMT)
Charlotte would have laughed, but she felt too lazy to laugh. If sunbathing was dangerous, she was already dead by a long shot. She removed her hand from the imaginary hilt, and waved it at the very tanned woman. Char wanted to sit up and explain, but that would require a change in posture, and thus destroy her tanning experience. As soon as the sun began to do it's magic, baking her to a new color, and giving her that warm feeling, Charlotte spoke.

"Sunbathing? Dangerous? Never, I've done it all my life. Some people, unlike you, my bronzed goddess, need to tan. Well, at least those of us who don't want to burn in the sun, get an exotic, dark, skin color. You know, attracting men, impressing your fellow women, and feeling good about yourself." Char explained. As her internal clock of tanning awareness ticked down, she smiled a little. It was rather odd to think of someone who didn't understand tannning. Well, some of those pale little ladies in the courts didn't at all. They thought that burning on contact with sunlight was a sign of beauty.

"If I was in the wilderness, I would take this clothing off to allow for a more even tan." Charlotte explained. She felt across her green sash that was barely any cover, but that was mostly the purpose. It was plausible to fight, fly, and sunbathe in such little clothing.

Shoshanah - June 26, 2006 06:19 AM (GMT)
The phrase 'bronzed goddess' received a hearty laugh from her. The girl seemed to be incredibly comfortable which put Shoshanah at ease. She sat down on a small bench. Something about the girl was intriguing, so until she asked Sho to leave, she figure a conversation would be nice.

"See, I have always envied those girls who skin seems like snow, not that I like snow, but their skin is nice. Elves especially, they always seem to have flawless skin. Then again, I don't know that I have ever seen a burnt Elf. As for impressing fellow women, I lack the talent for that even with the help of my skin."

The second part of her speech was a little more personal but amusing all the same. She leaned back, if the girl did not feel that eye contact was required, Shoshanah was content to soak in the sun as well, even if nothing would change.

"I can't say that I have ever been one to go around in the nude. Perhaps, I am simply too uptight."

Charlotte - June 26, 2006 06:36 AM (GMT)
Charlotte laughed a little at her comment about going around in the nude. She always found a very secluded little spot, far away from any used camp sites. And even then, she ordered Pepper to watch for people. She turned over, to properly bake her back. Her face was pointed right at her companion, and a single eye opened. She untied the strap to her top sash, revealing unsightly tan lines.

"It's to remove those white marks. They attract alot of attention on a seemingly exotic woman. I wouldn't mind being able to take off the bottom and the top completely, of course, if you didn't mind." Char said. She was laying on the trapdoor to the inn, which prevented anyone from getting up without some serious effort. Charlotter really did hope she could remove the rest of her clothing. They were on the highest building in th area, and not being able to abuse that would be a sad thing indeed.

"But if not, I've got to ask...what exactly do you do for, ahem, beautification?" Charlotte inquired. Cinnamon girl would probably have something she didn't. Perhaps something a little surprising, even.

Shoshanah - June 26, 2006 06:47 AM (GMT)
She popped her head up, looking at the girl again as she changed positions. She just shrugged her shoulder.

"To tell you the truth, I do not much care. Though before you take off the rest, I would not minding knowing your name. I mean, things are about to get a little personal." Her tone was light, obviously, she was joking with the girl, even though she really did wish to know her name.

"And I will even still answer your question. I truly don't do anything. I am told that my mother had skin that was practically black it was so dark; I suppose mine was tempered by my father's white skin. It really never changes, always this brown color."

She leaned back again, tilting her head up towards the sky. Even if she did not mind the girl removing the rest of her coverings, Sho decided the sun was a somewhat better view. Aware this was one of the tallest buildings, she could not help but worry a little bit that the girl was in danger of some one peeping on her.

Charlotte - June 26, 2006 06:58 AM (GMT)
Charlotte laughed, and then took the offer immediatly. She sat up, and allowed her sash to slip off. The valkyre then stood up, and pulled her skirt off. She quickly glanced about for anyone flying above the city, and then went back to sunbathing. The goddess next to her was worth worshipping, as it turned out. Always tanned sounded like a good deal to Char.

"Oh, the name is Charlotte, Charlotte Arsydian. Although some people call me Char." She explained. The valkyre sighed, and as her mental clock went off once more, she flipped and stared back into the sun. This time she lay her sash across her eyes, as suitable protection from the vicious sun. The tan lines were apparant, although it was rather obvious she was trying to remove them.

"So, what do you do, normally? I work as a mercenary, whenever I'm not doing something like this." Charlotte explained. Charlotte's body was that of no mean beauty, while not so well endowed as some women, she was oddly beautiful for a mercenary. She would have been in a better position as a beautiful wife to a lord, or his concubine, for that matter.

Shoshanah - June 26, 2006 07:17 AM (GMT)
"Well, Charlotte, it is a pleasure to meet you."

Hearing the girl rustling again, she looked down at the girl, and noticed that the girl had put her sash over her eyes. Her head tilted slightly at the girl, Charlotte's odd behavior.
Why would the girl put a sash over her eyes if she were worried about lines? Wouldn't having a white streak right across your eyes be worse than in places that most wouldn't even see? She supposed that Char knew what she was doing as she seemed to do it a good deal.

"I have done a lot, though all of it dealing with magic. I started off as a brigand of sorts, but I gave most of my profits from that away to charity. From then, I have been a mage for hire, either doing mercenary work or court work... even a little smithing."

She wondered if perhaps she shouldn't have included the first part. Some people held her past against her, and she wondered if Charlotte would be one of those people.

"So, what is your specialization? I mean, are you a swordsman or an archer?"

Charlotte - June 26, 2006 07:26 AM (GMT)
Charlotte nodded slowly, after all she did know what sort of a situation this woman was in. She did alot of odd jobs as well, whether it be laying siege to a satyr who didn't pay taxes or helping a goddess break out of a jail. The valkyre had no intention of touching smithing, that wasn't in her blood at all. She was useless with large, blunt objects you hit things with. Her true love was in heavy calvalry, and unlike when she was on foot, she was completely fearless on horseback.

"I specialize in heavy calvalry. I train my own war horses, and I train them good. All of them can understand verbal commands, gestures, and can save you on their own. My favorite duty is using a lance and running down those poor foot soldiers as they scurry away." Charlotte said. It was a little bloodthirsty, true, but she was part demon. The black lines on her cheek proved it, those were the marks of Zotamei, a greater daemon that her mother had assisted all those years ago.

"So, what exactly are you? I mean, are you a demon of some sort?" Charlotte inquired. She had the slightest of smiles on her face. For once, good company when she was sunbathing. Sometimes people got funny ideas that she was open while she was sunbathing to lustful urges. Most of them were lucky to walk away, and both men and women did it.

Shoshanah - June 26, 2006 07:45 AM (GMT)
Hearing her talking about the horses, she shivered ever so slightly. Shoshanah had always had a disliking for horses, except for one she had owned when she was younger. Over the years that had only grown. She smiled at the girl as she continued on to her question, though Charlotte might not have been able to see that with Sho's head tilted towards the sky. People often thought she was a demon.

"No, I am a fire genasi.... What about you? Is that mark on your face just a tattoo, or a sign of something more?"

Truthfully, she had no idea what Charlotte was. It was so hard to tell with people these days. All sorts of creatures now walked around in human form. She had never known another form, so the thought of transforming herself was odd.

Charlotte - June 26, 2006 08:08 AM (GMT)
Char knew this question all too well. To say the least, she is a mutt. A cocktail of a variety of races, including two opposites. She felt along the marks on her cheek, and sighed. They were slightly raised, and had an odd texture to them. They felt burnt in, permanently to say the least. Her mother had only said that it was a mark of protection, but she had never quite understood that part.

"Me? I'm a quarter valkyre, think of that as an angel but we are in general better people. I'm a quarter demon, which is what got me the marks. Protection offered by Zotamei, a Greater Daemon. I'm also half human. My father was the god of life in my native land, my grandfather the god of corruption." Charlotte said, and she sighed at the memories. Kaimei was always there, keeping an eye on her mother, but staying as distant as possible. Sinadryn was a great man, and it had been hard to leave him.

"But don't pray to me or anything, all that blood of mine doesn't help here. I can't even use my magic right. And here's an interesting question, what was the best thing to ever happen to you in your merc'ing life?" Charlotte said. This was a common thing amongst mercs, and usually led to bragging competitons. Char's favorite little incident had been outsmarting a bunch of bandits with a fortress.

Shoshanah - June 27, 2006 03:46 AM (GMT)
Sho was not even sure that she knew what a valkrye was. It was not something she had heard before. However, the fact that Charlotte considered them better than angels intrigued her. Perhaps that meant that Char had wings... She was indeed quite the mesh of different races. Sho was about to ask about the oddities this created in Char's nature when the girl continued. As she changed the subject, Sho decided to let it go.

Sho of course knew the little game that the girl was trying to play, but she usually did not join in the fun. She had no intention of trying to top the girl if she had a clever reposté, but she tried to think of her favorite situation. Immediately, Dorjan came to her mind. It had been many years since she had been under him for the most part she was over the whole thing.

"Let's see here... there were a couple years when I was, well, I was enslaved by an evil mage. Humorous that it would so cliche. Anyway, I escaped, but of course I couldn't just leave him be. When I got back into his castle later, well, to make a long story short I was about to die, so I kissed him to death." She couldn't help but laugh about it. "I used the natural heat in my own body, forced it into him and boiled him from the inside out..."

Charlotte - June 27, 2006 04:31 AM (GMT)
Char hadn't boiled someone, ever. She had stuck to being lazy and outwitting her opponents. Or if all else failed, she ran in, sword swinging, and hoped she won. That wasn't her idea of an opportune merc'ing moment. She enjoyed subtlety if she was the only merc working a job. If she had an option, calvalry was it.

"That's pretty good! Well, for my first job, no doubt you've heard the song, The Angel's Fight, well, that's me. It all started after my arrival, and doing jobs and staying rather anonymous. I ran into a little village after awhile, and found that they, like the rest of the world, were being plagued by bandits and had a girl being ransomed by said bandits. The bandits also had an old, abandoned fortress to call their own." Charlotte explained. She flipped back over, with a slight sigh, and allowed her back to attain that bronzed color. She momentarily considered getting some alcohol, but thought better of it.

"I found a vital flaw in their plan. The girl was in an open tower, that I could simply fly into, grab her, and get out. So, I did. The bandits never saw me, all I did was pull her out, and fly her home." Char continued. The valkyre felt along the curves of her back momentarily, and asked another question.

"So, have anything to do tonight, gorgeous?" She said, gave the last part a joking tone to it. Charlotte was off duty, and anything to be done other than work sounded good to her.

Shoshanah - June 27, 2006 04:53 AM (GMT)
Sho thought for a moment as the girl told her moment, thinking what she would have done in the same situation. More than likely, she would have simply set fire to the entire fortress and smoked them out. She supposed she was usually more of a blaze of glory type of person... that is when there isn't a mage with about twice as much power as she had.

Laughter burst forth from Sho when Charlotte called her gorgeous. She couldn't help but think back to her friend Cat, the very lesbian bartender who was like a sister to her. They had spent so many fun nights in the bar or at the hot springs, just having girl talk. She looked over at Charlotte with a smile once she had finished reminiscing.

"More than likely, I will spend the entire evening drowning myself in alcohol to no avail. Why the curiousity? Are you looking for another exotic girl to keep around to attract men? Or simply company for the evening?" She was also joking, though her voice was a bit suggestive.

Charlotte - June 27, 2006 05:14 AM (GMT)
An entire night of drinking her troubles away? Well, Charlotte had tried that before, but now she had invested in something special. It was more of a weapon than a drink, but it was a very good drink. Company sounded good, and especially a man attracter. She didn't doubt that Shoshanah couldn't grab her fair share of men.

"Oh, I wouldn't mind getting some company. I've been lonely these past couple nights, and it seems your...exotic ways, will assist me." Charlotte said, returning in the falsely seductive voice. She meant that she wanted ale, basically, and a night with someone special. That she hadn't gotten since she was on Terrawin.

"I mean I want a night of drinking. And I am getting desperate for some fun...Female mercs scare people out her, apparantly." Char muttered. She sighed, and offered a hand to Shoshanah.

Shoshanah - June 27, 2006 05:53 AM (GMT)
She laughed, though it was silent, only a slight shaking of her shoulders. It had been a while since she had tried to pick up ay guys, but Charlotte did seem a little desperate, and Sho did love a drinking partner.

"Alright, well..." Sho stood up, taking the girl's hand and helping her to stand as well, "why don't we head downstairs and get started on that? Surely we can find someone who would be willing to share a good drink with us."

She hoped that the girl was finished with her sunbathing, but she did not really know why else she would be offering her hand, unless she simply wanted to shake on the idea. By now, it was too late; Shoshanah had acted and was ready to go grab a tequila.

Charlotte - June 27, 2006 06:09 AM (GMT)
Charlotte stood up, and looked over her tan. Perfect. Her tan lines had faded into the rest of her tan, and she felt good. Charlotte pulled back on her skirt, and tied the sash back on in a moment. Her shirt came next, and then her other skirt.

"Mmmm, So, downstairs, then? They'd better have something strong." Charlotte murmured. She opened the trapdoor once more, and glanced into homely looking inn. The valkyre leapt, and landed on the ground catlike. She stood back up, and turned around to look at Shoshanah.

"Come along now, my exotic treat, I'm taking you hunting." Charlotte explained with a roguish grin. She was also dead set on a drinking contest, and she had never lost one of those in Arda.

Shoshanah - June 27, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
"Ah, but the question is, am I going to be hunting, or am I going to be the bait?" She said with a laugh.

Pulling her skirt tighter around her, she made her way down the ladder that led to the top floor. She was not a big fan of heights, so she did not look down. Being on top of the Inn wasn't so bad because there were sides all around her to keep her feeling safe.

"Something strong? Sounds like my kind of drinker! Perhaps we should have a little bit of a contest."

She reached the bottom and smiled at Charlotte. Wondering whether or not she would be up to the challenge. Up to date, Shoshanah had never lost a drinking contest. In fact, she used to have fun playing guys by letting them think they could out drink her. Taking the money of arrogant fools was a favorite pass time of hers.

Charlotte - June 28, 2006 03:47 AM (GMT)
Charlotte laughed in return at Shoshanah's comments. She walked quickly down the stairs to the bottom floor, and assumed Shoshanah was following her. The valkyre's quick trot brought her down to tavern level in a moment, and soon she was standing amongst a thick crowd. The demonness then lifted a man from his seat at the bar for Sho, and sat in the empty seat next to it. The man complained, but not much.

"So, Shoshanah, a drinking contest, then?" She inquired, assuming Sho was within hearing distance. Charlotte slapped five gold pieces on the table, and everyone stared at her. It was worth roughly two hundred and fifty normal beers.

"I want your strongest, and enough for a drinking contest...those that wish in, the time is now to ask." Charlotte explained. The bartender laughed, and shook his head. The coins were worth a hundred of the strongest drink he owned.

"Mazzer's Special Brew is my strongest, girl, and I doubt your delicate tummy can handle it." He said. Charlotte smiled, and she stood up. She was considering assuming her fully demonic appearance in the bar, but thought better of it. That might scare people.

"I'm paying." Charlotte retorted. He sighed, and filled the order. She then noticed the bar restructure itself as contestants stepped forwards. Sadly, not a cute guy amongst them to get drunk, then take advantage of.

Shoshanah - June 28, 2006 04:28 AM (GMT)
She followed the girl, having to step lively to be able to keep up with her. She smiled at the man who seat she was about to take, batting her eyelashes until he stop complaining.

The amount of money that Charlotte put down impressed even Sho. She did not usually pay up front because the guys would offer to pay drink by drink thinking it would not take many before she was drunk. Guys always thought that girls would be easy if they got drunk.

The bartender as usual doubted that any girl could hold up under a strong drink. Looking at Charlotte and Shoshanah, she could understand why he would think that. However, unlike Charlotte, Shoshanah was not one to let things go. Leaning over the bar, she gave the bartender a nice view as she started talking to him.

"That is so sweet of you, to worry about us."

She brought her hand up like she was about to mess with his hair. Before he could pull back, Shoshanah had created a flame in her hand, enlarging it until it engulfed the whole of her hand. That was when he jumped back, staring wide-eyed at her.

"But don't worry, we can take care of ourselves..." Her voice remained just as sweet as she threw the flames over towards the fireplace. It exploded on the dry wood that had been placed there for the next cold night before slowly dying out.

Charlotte - June 28, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
The first round of drinks came forwards, and Charlotte immediatly recognized the yellow liquid. This was Mazzer's Special Brew, better suited to being a weapon than a drink. That just made it all the better alcohol. Char lifted her mug, and downed the thing in a moment. She sighed at the pleasant burn of such a caustic liquid. She glanced about the bar as others drank their's at different rates, and she could immediatly tell which were the heavy drinkers and what.

"C'mon! Faster! The lovely ladies are going to beat you in this contest!" Char declared. Funnily enough, it appeared that one man wouldn't survive a second drink. He swayed in his chair as the potent drink worked at an alarming rate. He would be down by the second drink. Char watched as the last few finished, and awaited the next salvo.

Shoshanah - June 28, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
Sho couldn't help but laugh at her friend. This almost created a very large problem as she while chugging the first mug of ale. She managed to keep chugging though. It was a little weird for her; she was more of a shots person, so she did not often have to chug. However, as she finished off her first mug, she discovered that it was actually pretty good. It held a slight edge that felt good going down.

"What is this stuff? I don't think I have ever tasted it..." She picked up another mug, looking over the top of it at all the men around them, smiling with their yellowed teeth. All of them seemed to think this was some sort of a joke. Well, all of them except that one guy that had already crashed to the floor. She smiled at him, though he would never know that.

She started in on her second; it was going to be an interesting evening...

Charlotte - June 29, 2006 01:49 AM (GMT)
She didn't know what it was? Charlotte finished off her next drink in another chug, and laughed a little more. She knew in a couple more drinks she would be able to feel the alcohol working it's effects. The valkyre bravely turned to look at her companion, and smile.

"This is Mazzer's special brew, made by the god of light himself. It's considerably more alcoholic than anything else here. And it lights on fire quite nicely." Charlotte explained. She tackled another drink as someone else went out. The barkeep was going to have fun cleaning up after tonight.

Shoshanah - June 29, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
She was not really sure why the girl seemed so suprised. Besides an extreme amount of respect, Shoshanah tended to stay away from the God's, except Liara of course. She smiled at the flammable comment.

"Anything flammable is good to me. I usually prefer hard liquor that comes in a shot glass, but this stuff is pretty good." She licked her lips, wondering how many it would take before she got a buzz.

As she took another mug, she realized she didn't really care, she was enjoying herself too much.

Charlotte - June 29, 2006 02:42 AM (GMT)
Of course the fire elemental would like fire, Char thought. She shook her head, as she finished off yet another drink. Now the competition was truly beginning to thin out as the fourth drink went down. Char was starting to feel the slightest of tingles at this point.

"Faster, c'mon people, don't keep me waiting." Charlotte declared, her voice showing the slightest bit of a slur. The cry that replied was far more drunken to say the least. She downed yet another drink, and leaned back in her seat. The other man who had been guzzling just like her fell backwards, and nearly choked in his own vomit.

Shoshanah - June 29, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
She downed two drinks in a row, barely coming up for breath in between. Suddenly she found herself laughing, though she wasn't really sure why. Perhaps the alcohol was affecting her more than she had orignally thought.

"Hey, hey, watch this!" She snapped her fingers, but a spark didn't appear the first time. She tried again, this time it worked. She then threw it at the next mug. "This would probably be illegal, except it won't burn up!" With that exciting announcement, she downed that mug as well, fire and all.

"It adds an extra zing..."

Charlotte - June 29, 2006 03:23 AM (GMT)
Seven drinks down, and now it was only she and Sho. The bartender was truly surprised at this point. Char reached over at her companion, and smiled. This was a lustful smile as well, and she leaned slightly closer. The bartender gave her yet another drink, which she downed in a moment. Eight.

"Hey, Sho, wanna go have some fun?" Charlotte said. The bartender basically slammed a drink into her hands, now getting truly interested with the two gals. Charlotte drank it immediatly, taking the total count up to nine. She was really beginning to feel the alcohol taking control of her. And she, oddly enough, was a lustful drunk, so everything that men said about alcohol making women easy was true with Charlotte.

Shoshanah - June 29, 2006 03:35 AM (GMT)
She looked at her new found friend over her ninth drink, trying to keep up with her. She looked so serious about her offer of fun, Sho almost spit up her drink again. After she finished that one, she took a moment to laugh it up.

"You are funny! I almost believed you too!" She picked up a tenth mug. "This is all the fun..." her sentence was interrupted by a hiccup before she could continue, "a girl could ask for."

She stood up, burping above all the noise in the room before breaking out into laughter again. "That was a good one!"

Charlotte - June 29, 2006 03:49 AM (GMT)
Charlotte took her tenth as well, and drank it down. She smiled at Sho ever so sweetly, considering just a little bit of fun. She stood up, looked to be at the point of removing her shirt once more, but then she stopped. Charlotte looked around, staring at all the people nearby, and realized something.

"People? heeeeere? I thought we were alone Sho!" Charlotte shouted unexpectedly. The bartender handed her yet another drink, which Char accepted happily. She smiled foolishly, drunk another drink, and she appeared to be fine. A moment later, she had sat back down, looked to be ready to give Sho a kiss. Leaning over to give Shoshanah this kiss, suddenly the valkyre fell. Her head smashed into the stool, and all eyes came upon Shoshanah.

Shoshanah - June 29, 2006 03:59 AM (GMT)
She couldn't help but point and laugh at her friend who now lying on the groumd, having quickly forgotten the fact that she had just about kissed her.

"She can't hold her liquor... ha ha ha ha ha ha" She started doing a little belly dance, twirling around in victory. She continued this until she realized that she was actually still behind on the drinks, she had only had 10.

Pleased with herself for still being able to count at this point, she knocked on the bar until the bartender handed her another one. "Number eleven folks!" Tilting her head back, she put the mug to her lips and let it run down her throat.

She was just about to put the mug down for her next mug when she realized that she couldn't find the counter. In fact, she could really find anything, it was just blurry, no make that dark. Before she knew what was happening, she was out cold on the floor next to Charlotte. It would be a couple minutes before her system could catch up with the amount of alcohol that was drowning it.

Charlotte - June 29, 2006 04:13 AM (GMT)
An unknown amount of time later, Charlotte's eyes moved. She blinked, and turned around on the floor. She grabbed at the stool next to her, and pulled herself up. Her hand slapped against the bar, and she used that to elevate herself further. She stood up, slowly, and looked around her. The bar was completely empty, however she hadn't checked the floor.

"Who won?" Charlotte asked the bartender, who had been staring at her. He jumped back, and then laughed a little.

"You two tied, drunk yourselves unconscious." He said, looking kind of nervous. Charlotte was worried as to why he had so diligantly watched the two, but paid little heed. She then slapped her hand on the counter, and asked for one last thing.

"I want some water." She demanded. The bartender laughed, and he drew up a mug of water. Charlotte sipped at it, awaiting the appearance of Shoshanah.

Shoshanah sat straight up and was immediately sorry for the action. Her head felt as if there was a hammer inside pounding away at her skull. She laid herself back down, putting her hand over her eyes. She really did not know how long she was there before she tried to do anything else.

"If you drink another one now, it does not count..." She said, though her throat was catching in her throat. She finally managed to pick herself up and sit down on a stool.

"So this is what getting drunk feels like. I don't think I ever want to do this again." She opened her eyes to look at Charlotte; the fact that Charlotte looked like Shoshanah felt made her feel better about herself. No doubt she looked about the same, like she had been run over by a carriage.

"I guess I did my victory dance a little early..."

She had never gotten drunk before? How could she avoid getting drunk for such a love of alcohol? Charlotte sipped at her water idly, and then twisted her head to Shoshanah. She sighed, and then shrugged.

"Never gotten drunk before? I learned it's easier to ignore the headache." Charlotte explained. She closed her eyes to block out the light, and it was awfully quiet within the bar. Someone dropped a bronze bell onto the paving outside, and then came the giant tolls of it. Charlotte winced, and clutched her head.

"Light and sound make it hell of a lot worse." The demonness murmured. She flicked her eyes open momentarily to take another sip of her glass, and then kept them closed.

"Oh, here's a question...what did I do before I dropped? I can't remember a thing." She muttered, very darkly. Char knew that it was completely possible she had done something very embarassing.

She closed her eyes to the pain that tolled along with the bell and kept them closed as she tried to remember back. Of course, the girl had tried to kiss her. She chuckled until she realized that the jarring action from her laughter caused more pain. That pain made the laughter die away.

"I think you were about to kiss me. Then you just kind of fell over; it was kind of funny."

She pushed heat into her hand, putting it up against her forehead, which felt very good. Perhaps it would help Charlotte as well. "Do you have a headache?" She asked, holding up her hand to see if she wanted some help.
