Title: shorline

She was walking, her mind wandering once more. It had been a long time since she had been here, when her first adventures were here. However, she had long forgottne those just to be the person that would serve the darkness. She smiled lightly to herself, and continued to walk. This was the place her whole adventure started. She had long forgotten those memories as well. There was nothing left now, just her and an empty shell with no emotions. She had no goal, no determination for everything. All she had was to serve the darkness, let them make the decisions for her and everything. She was a mere puppet, that will break once it is not as good anymore.

She sighed, as she ran a hand through her hair. She had gotten pretty good at controlling her demon, but it still needed some work. The bloodthirst that she tasted most of the time was unpleasant, but managed to at least stop herself from choking over it. Her blue eyes wandered to the vast ocean. This was a calm place, she had found that calm places eased the mind, but that is if only nobody didn't come near her and bother her out of hermind.

She sat on the sand, not caring whether the sand was in her shoes or on her hands. Her thoughts were focused on the setting sun which made the sky turn a blood red color. What are the chances that someone would just come and attack her at that very moment, or what was the chances that somebody out of nowhere will come and talk to her randomly like they were her friends. Not many people came to the ocean, that's what she heard at least, but maybe her presumptions were wrong. Once again, she thought about it, seeing that the people were merely here for the view, how beautiful it was when the sun reflected off of the ocean. Her senses were dull by now, the salt air dulling everything basically. She played with the hilt of her sword, playing with the little thing that hanged off of it.

It was time for the sun to set, time for the city folk to go to their homes after enjoying the scene that the shore presented. Time for minds to rest.

Aloric's day was just getting started.

He had just clawed his way through the wilderness. He noted this was not the easiest thing to do, when wild wolves are in pursuit. Such had been the case. Though he was experienced with traversing through the wilderness, he never could seem to stay out of trouble. It had always been one trial after another.

The wolves were far behind him now, he had outsmarted them by climbing up a tree and moving through the canopy in the densely crowded wildland. Some would call him a coward. He called himself resourceful.

He had just walked through some cityscape. Here he had felt less comfortable than he had in the wilderness. He wasn't exactly people-oriented. Never had been. Especially these days, when he wasn't sure who he could trust. Arda was not as safe as it once had been.

He had just reached his destination for now. The shoreline of the vast ocean. He came here as often as he could, always just in time to see the sun set. It was the only thing that could make him smile these days. It showed someone was out there, painting the sky. It showed that comeone cared.

He came out here to dream. He had hopes of one day purchasing a small seaworthy vessel, setting sail, and enjoying his own company. Nothing can touch him out there. Nothing could go wrong...

He had just seen a face, off in the distance. Hand in hair, calm composure. Young, unforbidding. He thought she was enjoying the same sights that he was.

He remembered once again the lesson he'd taught himself. Can't just trust anybody. He realized now he didn't even want to. He didn't need anyone now, and he didn't want anyone.

But he did...

He wanted someone he could trust, someone he could confide in, someone who wouldn't be ashamed to know him. Those people were hard to come by.

His insides were digging at him to go up and introduce himself. Start a little conversation. If it didn't work out, well then, that was fine too. At least he had tried.

But he didn't want to...

These last few weeks, he'd been through many ordeals. He had realized there were very few people he could trust. Why would this one be any different?

She looked content anyways. No, he'd sit back and enjoy the sunset, the reason he came here. If Fate decided it, something else would happen, and perhaps he'd get to know this one a little better. But he wasn't about to initiate anything.

She sighed, seeing the view. She was right, there was basically nobody was here. Only one or two people were here, watching the beautiful scene in front of them like she was right at that moment. She closed her eyes as she leaned back against the warm sand. She really didn't care whether the sane went in her hair or not, but that was something that she had to take. After awhile of just laying there, watching the sky, she felt eyes on her. Somebody's eyes on her, she didn't know whose but it had to be somebody's. "Who... could it be?" she asked herself. She got up from her laying position to look around the shore, trying to see who the unfortunate victim was.

Her blue eyes looked around, whoever's eyes it was, he or she was still watching her from the sidelines. She got up, now standing, looking around, not paying attention to the scene in front of her at all. She had then spotted it. A man about, in his 20's was watching her with eyes of fear, and eyes of trust. It was odd, she had to admit. It felt like he wanted to know her,but couldn't because he couldn't trust her at all. "heh.. you should never trust anybody.." she muttered to herself. She shook her head, laughing at the confused person that was standing there.

What do you think? she thought to herself. After a moment of silence, another voice answered in replied to hers. Maybe we should bring him some pain and lonliness... that always helps...sorta.. that is... the voice belonged to a girl's voice. heh... seems like you to say that... she answered in reply to the voice. Hey.. you know me... I can't stand to watch in a fight... i have to be in the action.. Sora rolled her eyes at the reply she got. Shut up... it's hard enough that I can't control you when your blood thirsty, I don't need you going around and trying to attack every person that you lay eyes on.. It was silent for a few more seconds before the annoying voice came to haunt her head once more. Aww.. don't be soo mean..you'll regret saying it.. "so true.." she muttered to herself, instead of saying it in her head.

Her demon side was the wise one, she didn't always make the smart decisions though. She usually got her into trouble by taking control of one part of her body, and doing some sort of stuff with it. Whether it was stealing or merely just throwing something at them, she always ended up fighting with 10 people twice her size. Her mission was probably to kill her, but she knew she wouldn't do that, it was too early for her to die. Also, if she died, then her demon would die as well, which would make it hard for her to reach her goal as well. She just sighed, shaking her head as she sat on the sandy floor once more and resting her head against the sand, trying to take her mind off things..

He knew she had seen him. He didn't care. He would probably never see her again. And yet, he felt... almost sorry for her. She was alone. He was quick to realize he was alone as well, but he was accustomed to that. Maybe this one wasn't.

He didn't know her name, he would probably never learn it. That didn't matter. He came here to enjoy himself and take in the scenery. He came here for pleasure. He had to remind himself of that.

But pleasure wasn't coming easily. Everything was still running through his mind, like it had all just happened a moment ago, fresh in his mind, and he was playing it out again.

He couldn't help but loom over the questions that kept tugging at him. A raw agony swept through him then, because he knew the questions would not be answered, not for some time. He still had a long way to go on this journey.

He thought about his journey once again. It was funny how he went through so much, every day, and today he had spent half of his waking hours toiling to get to this very spot - to view a sunset. It had no meaning to him, it didn't serve to answer anything. But it was more important than everything else. All this time, all he needed was the peace he felt now.

He couldn't help but think the woman on the beach felt exactly the same. Peace from everything else could bring more satisfaction than anything else.

Aloric wasn't sure what was to come in the future, he wasn't even sure what had happened in the past. He still knew very little. It seemed like everything that happened to him recently went right through him and right back out as a new challenge presented itself. In his constant and never ending search, he had forgotten everything he had really come from.

But now, with nothing immediately forcing him to react, all he had available to him was time. Time to look back, in retrospect. Time to examine what he had really been through.

His quest had started at home. His curse had found itself then. That's when he'd been betrayed. Betrayed by anyone and everyone he knew, everyone in the small town he came from. They cast him out; he wasn't one of them. That was OK, he had never felt like one of them. It had taken his discovery of the curse to figure out why that was. His quest had taken him to the mountains, in search of a medicine, a cure, that he had heard about. Rumored to be sure. It had taken a while to realize it never had existed. There was no cure. He had been told there was no cure because there was nothing wrong with him. That's what Paliath had said, in his wood house on the mountain. Paliath had told him to dig deeper. He had.

All that digging had brought him here. He was tired of digging, it never ended. He wanted it to all stop.

He wanted to think about what would happen next.

His thoughts went back to his ship that he would purchase, his dream of sailing away, exploring, keeping to his own thoughts and desires. He wouldn't have to worry about being casted out if there was no one there.

His thoughts went back to the woman, still on the shore, standing, searching, her lips moving with no audible words from this distance. What was she thinking about?
