BRILLIANT ideas both, I LOVE them.

The only suggestion I would make is to make the second a bracelet. There are already a tun and a half of rings. :)

Obsidian Nocturne - June 14, 2006 01:16 PM (GMT)
actually since it's round......... it could actually pass for a bracelet  now to come up with more anti-mage anti-uber junk

I just thought of this, but if you could ifn done...that type of item would be better as a circlet (goes 'round the head)

Obsidian Nocturne - June 14, 2006 01:19 PM (GMT)
or we could just invent another kind of jewelry and use the circlet idea on that :p

Garath Parradon - June 14, 2006 01:21 PM (GMT)
Not to spam, but the reason I said circlet for that item specifically was for it's properties. It protects against all mental attacks, as such it should probably be an item that goes around the head. Circlet would fit. It would also help to prevent it from being too powerful, as you couldn't wear most helmets with it.

:p

Or not. just my idea :D

Obsidian Nocturne - June 14, 2006 01:22 PM (GMT)
good point.. *flips the image so that the "ring" would now officially look like a circlet?*

They're both good ideas, but the images are quite large when compared to other similar items of the same type already in the shops. Also, the circlet doesn't look like head gear

[edit]
Here is the picture I have used for the circlet, that is now in the shops:

And after a re-inspection of the Mage Seeker, it's not very practical

Garath Parradon - June 15, 2006 12:45 PM (GMT)
What do you mean by 'not practical'?

Obsidian Nocturne - June 15, 2006 02:52 PM (GMT)
lol it's a ring that I just pretty much.. inverted :p

oi! the mage seeker can be useful if used right--- it's practically the only thing that can possibly warn anyone that a spell is being cast allowing a possible counter maneuver-- of course I couldn't let an item such as that become too overpowered so I added the catch... that it also reacts to the wearer as well. Basically, it'll be all up to the rper as to how well he could pull that through without his opponent seeing his amulet glow.

Garath Parradon - June 15, 2006 06:13 PM (GMT)
I agree completely with Obs. I have a similar feat in the suggested feats section. This sort of thing would be *EXTREMELY* useful for casters and non-casters alike.

Obsidian Nocturne - June 16, 2006 01:21 AM (GMT)
Its practicality mainly lies on the user... if he or she could rp it well enough ;)

I just thought it would provide more options against spells that generally cannot be countered when cast eg. silence, mental domination etc.

Lothlómendil - June 22, 2006 08:22 AM (GMT)
Well, I say it isn't that practical because it is basically a repeat of the Detect Magic spell, and the spell is much more effective than this item.

Also, items that are only workable in the hands of a minority aren't very useful :p

Obsidian Nocturne - June 22, 2006 02:41 PM (GMT)
 is it just me or am I just blind to never have seen that detect magic spell?

Garath Parradon - June 22, 2006 10:05 PM (GMT)
I can't seem to find it either...

Link us?

Lothlómendil - June 22, 2006 10:15 PM (GMT)
...... :|

I got confused... it's one of the spells I haven't released yet.... :|

None the less, I'm glad there is a spell/feat/whatever in the process of being implimented. Good call.
