Title: The Dragon's Nest

Valdearg - August 17, 2004 11:36 PM (GMT)
About halfway up the Lhachlith Volcano, Valdearg sat at the entrance to his temporary home. His previous one had been recently destroyed by a group of annoying humans. How he haited them for their persistance, it was like they never gave up. That was one of the reasons he chose this place to stay, hardly any humans traveled up the mountains, they were to scared of the volcano to try and attack him here.

He sat on a large ledge that stuck out about 60 feet, some of the only flat land on the volcano, which made it perfect for his home. He wasn't to worried about the volcano, he was immune to most types of fire, and if the volcano ever blew up, he could always fly away, never to return. He hoped that wouldn't happen though, he liked this place. The air smelled constantly of smoke and ash, there were no dragon hunters to bother him, and he had the whole place practically to himself.

He sat on the ledge like a king gazing down at his kingdom, watching for anyone that would try to come up the mountain. He made a point of being prepared for anything, ever since he had been a young dragon, and he had been injured one day while flying. He had been around for several hundred years, so that memory had almost faded from the recesses of his mind, but he never forgot the lesson it had given him.

Keller - August 18, 2004 12:56 AM (GMT)
The volcano and mountains were incredibly dangerous for Belthil. But he decided it was his duty to help those in need anyway. He traveled around this area, trying to avoid other dragons, helping travelers in need of healing, or help. It was his way of balancing out the destructive dragons that had rampaged on this volcano for centuries. But every now and then, some humans get enough courage to try and cross it, though that only gets them in the way of predators. This is just another reason Belthil must help the humans. He must lead them away from danger, or dragons, to keep the dragons from attacking the human's town, and villages.

Belthil flew threw the air, keeping a sharp eye on the pass below him. He wasn't aware that he had already ventured up half-way to the mountain's peak. He knew it somewhere in the back of his mind, but was to concerned with his job to take any attention to it. This was where most dragons' lairs were, half way up the mountain. Far enough away from humans, and not too close to the dangerous lava of the volcano. Speaking of which, the heat and ash from the volcano had already turned Belthil's fur to a grayish black.

On his way up, he realized that he had just flew into view of one of the bigger Red Dragons. When Belthil did realize what he had done, he had stopped in mid-flight, and slowly glided down to the ground, hiding behind a small boulder, hoping that it hadn't seen him. Most dragons pick on those that are weaker than they, and Belthil was almost half his size.
I hope he didn't see me... Though who wouldn't notice a white dragon flying passed them? Belthil thought to himself.

Valdearg - August 18, 2004 01:10 AM (GMT)
Valdearg was trying to think of something to do to stave off the boredom that threatened to envelop him, when he saw a glimmer of white out of the corner of his eye. He swiftly turned his head and saw the white dragon drop suddenly, he wondered what was going on, then a thought came to him. That dragon thinks I am like most dragons, fighting to be on top, bullying all those that are weaker than I am. Normally, he wouldn't take much interest in another dragon unless it was attacking him, but he was bored and had never seen that dragon before.

He lumbered out ot the edge of the ledge and leapt off into the air, not wasting the energy to flap his wings, instead allowing himself to glided down to where the white dragon had dissappeared to. He landed with a crunch on the mountainside and walked over to the boulder behind which the white dragon had hidden. He sat himself down with the cruch of more breaking rock and arranged himself until he was comfortable.

Once he was sitting comfortably on the hard mountain side, he addressed the other dragon. "Hello there, you can come on out from behind that boulder, I have no intention of harming you unless you attack me first." He then sat back and waited for the smaller dragon to appear from behind his hiding spot. The white dragon wouldn't have to worry about being attacked if the other dragons say him conversing with Valdearg, most of them would want to avoid annoying him.

Keller - August 18, 2004 01:29 AM (GMT)
Belthil was already trembling at the thought that the dragon had seen him. He almost whipered when the dragon started to speak, but when Belthil heard the entire sentence, he got the courage to peak his head around the corner of the boulder, to get a glimpse of it up close. It looked even bigger than he had imagined.

That dragon towers over me, even when he is setting down. He thought to himself. His heart rate started to increase.
I guess I have no other option... Belthil he thought, walking slowly around from his hiding spot. He had his head cowered down. One could almost call him a dog with his tail imbetween his legs.
"Excuse me if I had disturbed you. I wouldn't dare try attacking someone of your..." Belthil was trying to think of a word. Fear had gotten the best of him. He remembered what he was going to say.
"...magnitude." Belthil added onto his sentence.
"In fact, I detest any sort of violence." He said.
Belthil took a few steps back, out of range for the Dragon's claws, but not his fire breath.

Valdearg - August 18, 2004 01:57 AM (GMT)
Valdearg watched the actions of the smaller dragon with interest, barely managing to hold in his laughter. As the dragon continued to talk, a rumble of laughter escaped his lips. He waved a hand up to stop the dragon from talking any further. "Please, calm down, you have no need to try and get on my good side by complementing me. I would prefer if you just acted like you normally do." Valdearg noticed that the white dragon still sat far enough away to avoid his claws.

"So, what is your name white dragon, and why would you be traveling in a realm occupied by red dragons? Valdearg was determined to learn at least this much about the strange dragon before he went anywhere. He ran his eyes over the strange dragon and noticed the grey edge he was seeming to get. "You shouldn't come here often, it can't be good for your health. Most dragons that live here get used to the smoke, it is easy to tell that you aren't from this area."

Keller - August 18, 2004 02:11 AM (GMT)
Belthil gained a little bit of courage after he heard what the red dragon had said, but ignored his laughter.
"My name is Belthil." He stated simply. He began to lose any fear he had from the dragon. Even though his voice was loud and thunderous, and could almost shake the heavens if he were so inclined to do so, but Belthil tried not to think about it.
"The reason I am here is to heal injured creatures, whether they be human or dragon. This is a harsh environment, so I only figured someone might need my help." Belthil said.
"And no, I am not from this area. I usually dwell in the north, which is reason for my white coat of fur." Belthil said, looking down, noticing that his fur wasn't white anymore. The ashes of this place almost made him look like a weak black dragon.
"Though it may have been just a tad unwise, though." Belthil admitted.
"Now, what is your name?" He asked.

Valdearg - August 18, 2004 02:24 AM (GMT)
Valdearg regarded Belthil for a moment before answering his question. "My name is Valdearg, I pretty much control this section of the mountain. It is unnofficial of course, but it is a position I wish I didn't have either way." Valdearg sighed and turned to look up at the mountain, already he could see some of the dragons looking down at him converse with the dragon. "You are quite lucky that the ash made you look like a black dragon, most of the dragons here would have attacked you for being a white dragon. They cannot stand dragons like yourself. Personally, I fell we are all the same, no matter what the color of our scales are. We will all meet the same end and then it will not matter what we have done in our life."

Valdearg took a quick glance at the mountain, it seemed to be smoking more than usual these days, he didn't like it. Looking back at Belthil, he noticed he looked even blacker. "Well Belthil, I have no objection to you being here, in fact, I applaud your bravery. Not many white dragons have the nerve to come near Lhachlith Volcano. There is to much bad blood between dragons these days, and I admit I to have been slightly prejudiced." Valdearg let out a sigh of regret at all that was happening in the world he had come to know and love, if Raku won the world, it would soon be changed completely.

"So Belthil, what has been going on up north, it has been ages since there has been any news. Are the dragon hunters still running amok all over the place, or have they finally died down some?"

Keller - August 18, 2004 02:33 AM (GMT)
"Well Valdearg, only recently has anything happened in that area, since it is a barren iceland. I do beleive the ice dragons have allied with the forces of dark, but that is only because of the woman named Phedre, who is half-dragon, half-human, knows and cares for Raku, the dragons have told me. And to answer your dragon hunter question, the only one of them I have heard of is Enrai, but that is only because he is the Sun Guardian." He stated. He saw how Valdearg look back up at the other dragons.
"Those dragons up there will most-likely meet their ends from each other. You not attacking me makes you that much better than they." He stated, returning his attention to Valdearg.
"Have many bad things been happening around here, too?" Belthil asked him. Belthil was releived that he looked like a black dragon. Even though he didn't like them that much. If it kept him from fighting, he would be happy that luck was on his side.

Valdearg - August 18, 2004 02:43 AM (GMT)
"Oh, they weren't so bad to begin with, but they became steadily worse until they finally have the reached the point they are at today. Tensions are so high around here, fights are being started over nothing at all. The volcano has been more active lately than it has been in a while, and that makes most of the dragons nervious. They are worried about losing their homes. That fool raku has been here a few times, trying to gain the favor of some of the dragons to get their aid in the war. I have tried to stop the dragons from making such a foolish choice, but they are drawn by dreams of riches and greatness. They are fools if they think Raku truly cares what happens to them."

Valdearg turned to look Belthil in the eye before continueing on. "Most of the dragons that went were young and foolish, but so many went, that I am worried there won't be enough young dragons to help our race survive. If all of our young ones are killed in the war, we will have no way to repopulate the mountain." Valdearg thought of all the ones that had left to fight in the war, going over each of them by name. Several of them he had known since before they could leave the nest, and he had been sad to see them leave. He hoped they would come back safe once the war was over.

"This time talking to you has been refreshing, I thank you for coming by. If you ever need any help, ask me and I will help you. Though make sure that I am the first one to spot you, for some of the other dragons will not be so helpful. Now, I think it is time that you got out of this smoke, it's turnig you blacker by the minute."

Sgiathatch - August 18, 2004 10:57 AM (GMT)
There was something in the air on this night that called the dragons out of their lairs and urged them to take flight. Sgiathatch had left the comfort of her cave in the North what seemed like ages ago. She longed to lay upon her pile of treasures and rest once more but she had business to take care of. She was one of the elder dragons of her clan and there was much bad blood between the white dragons and the other dragons. They had been shunned for their beliefs in healing and she was sent out as their ambassador because she was wise and diplomatic. This night she would reach the great volcano and search out thier leader and hold counsil if they would allow it.

She soared through the air, the cool wind swirling around her and ruffling her whiskers. At last Lhachlith was near and she drew in to search. It was not long until she found two dragons on the side of the mountain conversing. One was a great red dragon and though it appeared younger than she, he was a little bigger. The other dragon seemed to be a very young black dragon. What is a black dragon doing in this region? They make thier homes in the forests and usually do not mingle with other breeds of dragon... She looked to her left and noticed that she herself looked a little black, the ash from the angry volcano had built up into a thin layer one her body. She shook herself off a little but still maintained her bearing. She would talk to this red dragon, even if it meant a fight.

Keller - August 18, 2004 08:09 PM (GMT)
Belthil looked up to the skies to check and see if there were any other dragons in flight. He wanted to be the only one flying in this area when he went back, because he didn't really trust the dragons in this area, other than Valdearg. After a close examination of the skies, he noticed something in the distance. It seemed to be another white dragon.
"That is very strange to see another of my kind here." Belthil said studying the dragon, to see if he knew it. So far he hadn't recognized it as someone he knew, but that may have been because of the ash in the air.
"Is there anything important going on here? I don't know of why one of my kind would be here." He asked Valdearg. The dragon got closer and closer to them.
That is very odd indeed. Belthil thought to himself.

Valdearg - August 18, 2004 08:16 PM (GMT)
Valdearg looked up at the sky when Belthil asked that question, he was amazed to see yet another white dragon headed towards the mountain. This was turning out to be a very odd day indeed! "So it seems you are not the only white dragon that is brave enough to fly near Lhachlith Volcano. This is news to me to, I had no idea that a white dragon would be headed here. I do not recognize that dragon, but I had better wave them down quickly before one of the other dragons gets any ideas."

Valdearg stood and shook himself, releasing a puff of ash that had ben clinging to his scales. He waved the dragon to come land next to them so that they could talk. When he saw the dragon was headed their direction, he turned back to face Belthil. That dragon probably thinks that you are a black dragon, you will probably need to reveal yourself eventually, but I will let you decide when to do that." Valdearg then settled himself on the ground once more and waited for the new arrival to land.

Sgiathatch - August 18, 2004 11:08 PM (GMT)
Seeing the wave of the red dragon, Sgiathatch hurried her course and landed beside them as quickly as possible. She snorted and shook her head, sending a little cloud of ash off of her body. She bowed to the two of them by lowering her head to the ground and then back up. She glanced from the black to the red before speaking. Neither of them seemed like they were belligerent towards her, but she had to take caution. "I am Sgiathatch from the North Clan. I come seeking the bull in charge of this mountain," she said to them in high, elegant draconic. To a human her speech was sharp and breathy, but it was very femenine yet commanding as far as dragons go. There was a chance that the older, red dragon may even recognize her name for she had been on the High Counsil for many ages. The young black dragon, however, would probably not know her. She spied him closer and thought there was something pecuiliar about his shade of black and his eyes were keener than that of a young dragon. She did not know what to expect from these two but she readied herself incase she had to suddenly defend from an attack.

Keller - August 19, 2004 02:23 AM (GMT)
Belthil made eye contact with the white dragon. He had a blank face on, trying to remember if he had seen her before. He had heard of her, but never actually met Sgiathatch. Belthil had heard much of this council from the north, but had never seen any of the council members.
He listened to what she said. Belthil was a little rusty on his Draconic. Belthil usually just spoke the common human language, since it was the human race that he helped most often.
"Hello, Sgiathatch." The dragon said simply, bowing his head, then raising it again. Belthil remembered that he had been covered in ash. He looked down at himself, noticing that his entire body was nearly pitch black.
She probably thinks I am a black dragon... He thought to himself. Belthil spread his wings and flapped them a few times, blowing away the ash that was on his wings, and around his chest area. It revealed his white fur, his wings, it showed all of the white on his body, except in more of a grayish tint.
"Sorry, I keep forgetting about the ash in this area." Belthil admitted.

Valdearg - August 19, 2004 02:43 AM (GMT)
Valdearg listened as the new dragon introduced herself, he couldn't quite remember if he had ever heard that name before. It seemed like he should have, but he just couldn't remember. Then the memory suddenly surfaced, and he nearly laughed out loud that he had forgotten. Sgiathatch was a member of the High Council of Dragons, one of the higher ranking members if he recalled correctly. He then watched as Belthil introduced himself and he realized what a sight this would make, a red dragon conversing with two white dragons. He just hoped that the rest of the dragons would retain their common sense.

"Well, Sgiathatch, it is an honor to finally meet you. I have heard of you before, but you are not what I expected. I am Valdearg, the leader of the clan of dragons that reside at Lhachlith Volcano, how can I help you? I am sure that you would not come all of this way just for pleasantries. So, let us get right down to business." Skorne then settled down to get as comfortable as possible, this looked like it could take a while. How he wished he could just go back to his cave and sleep for the rest of the day, but it appeared that was no longer an option since a member of the High Council was visiting.

Sgiathatch - September 8, 2004 08:03 PM (GMT)
Realization came to her that the other dragon was also white. It was surprising indeed to see another of her kind here. If this white dragon appeared black, she could only imagine how she appeared. Sgiathatch returned the former gestures then spoke directly to Valdearg. "Is there some place that is less out in the open that we may speak? I doubt that others will welcome me, lord, as you have." There was not a place she could see near that looked like they could enter undisturbed. She glanced into the darkening sky, looking at the few figures of other dragons in the distance. They would need to hurry if they were to find someplace. So many were needlessly hostile, fights so common anymore that it was almost not worth second thought.

Valdearg - September 9, 2004 02:19 AM (GMT)
Valdearg nodded at the wisdom to the statement, turning to head back to his cave. "Yes, I know a place, please follow me. I would keep close to me though, in case something should happen. Belthil, you should probably come also." He stood up, shaking off his newly aquired layer of ash, and pumped his wings a few times. He had learned a while ago what happened if you tried to fly after lying in place for several minutes. He launched off into the air, and looked down to make sure that they were following. He flew up the mountainside, searching for the familiar opening of his cave. Well, at least there was a bright side to the council visit, it would take place in the comfort of his own cave. He slowed his speed, coming to land at the entrance to his cave. He waited there for Sgiathatch and Belthil to catch up to them, watching for any signs of trouble from the other dragons.

Keller - September 9, 2004 02:39 AM (GMT)
"Alright..." Belthil said, as he flapped his wings, which cleaned the ash off of him also, and flew close behind Valdearg. He hoped that he was faster than the dragons here. In case he needed to get out quick. He assumed that he was more aerodynamic, but that didn't matter if the red dragons could use their brute strength and kill Belthil in one hit, but he decided to try and not think about that. So instead of thinking about the bad side of things, he started to hum an odd tune to himself. It carried no specific melody. All it was, was random notes to keep him from getting nervous about the bigger dragons.
A sigh of releif came to him when he saw Valdearg land in the cave. Belthil flapped his wings, to get there faster. When he landed, he was releived to arrive in one piece. He didn't like flying at this place, and he would remember not to again. He looked downward, to see if he could spot Sgiathatch.

Sgiathatch - June 21, 2005 05:14 AM (GMT)
Sgiathatch was not used to breathing in the heavy soot of the volcano and could feel a sneeze coming. She snorted and stamped her foot a little before taking off, putting her a little behind the others. Flaping her great wings she rose slowly into the air and then pushed forward to join the others. She looked around as she flew, watching other dragons in the distance and hoping they couldn't see how white she was. Despite being covered in ash, her underbelly and under side of her wings were still quite clean. She thought she spotted movement to her right, but whatever it was disappeared over the rocky edge of the volcano. She felt uneasy suddenly, but ignored it and landed lightly on the shelf before the cave mouth, nodding to Belthil.

"Valdearg, another may have seen us and I'm afraid this ash is no perfect disguise. Let us hasten our entrance to the cave." She let him lead the way, looking over her shoulder at the sky behind them. Her nose twitched and she finally let out a loud sneeze that echoed off the cave walls. Sniffling, she headed inside after the dragon lord.

Valdearg - June 21, 2005 05:24 AM (GMT)
Valdearg nodded to them both when they landed, glad that nothing had gone wrong so far. Hopefully, nothing would go wrong. At the mention that another dragon had seen them, Valdearg hastened to the cave entrance, wanting the protection it would offer if they were attacked. "Don't worry, once we are inside my cave, we will be fine. None of the dragons would be stupid enough to try and force their way in. For one thing the cave isn't large enough for them to pass me if I spread my wings, and they have seen me fight before. If any do come, they will get a taste of my teeth and claws." Valdearg was more worried than he sounded, thinking about the possible outcomes. He didn't know how useful Belthil and Sgiathatch would be in a fight, and if several dragons came, he probably could fend them off, but it would cost him greatly. With those thoughts in mind, Valdearg was glad when he made it to the cave entrance. Turning around, he squeezed to the side, giving the other two dragons enough room to get by, he didn't want the two of them to be between him and any dragon that might show up.

"Quickly, I want to be ready should anything happen. Keep going until you can no longer see the mouth of the cave, there is a curve up ahead." Valdearg voice was hushed, knowing how sounds echoed in caves. He didn't want anyone else to know where they were. For the moment, he just hoped that they could get through this without anyond getting killed. If Sgiathatch was killed, then the dragon council would definately act against the inhabitents at the volcano. While there might not be such drastic measures if Belthil died, Valdearg still had every desire that they stayed alive.

Keller - June 21, 2005 05:43 AM (GMT)
At this point, Belthil was too worried to listen about how Valdearg could win in a fight against a possible threat. The dragon was not afraid of the actual death, but more afraid of the pain that was involved. Belthil scurried up ahead of the other two, hoping to get farther within the cave. He hoped he could get away from any other possible threats. "I am glad we arrived here. I don't know how much more of that ash I could handle." He stated, remembering there was a curve. Belthil made a quick turn. He was not able to see down the rest of the cave. I shall wait here, for the others to catch up. The dragon thought to himself. Belthil had a few seconds to spare, before Sgiathatch and Valdearg caught up to him. He looked around, studying the cave with what little light he had. How could anyone live here? The white dragon thought to himself. Of course he would not mention it to Valdearg, in fear of the great dragon.

Sgiathatch - June 22, 2005 10:47 PM (GMT)
Sgiathatch crouched low to the floor of the cave and crawled cautiously through the cave. Sniffing around she followed Belthil and glanced back over her shoulder to check that Valdearg was there. She couldn't see him but figured he was just waiting for something before coming, perhaps making sure the path was clear. She crawled on, powerful muscles tense and she crawled at a crouch, prowling. At last she reached the curve that had been spoken of and jogged further to try and catch Belthil. As she jogged her padded feet made a soft noise against the flat stone and she thought of the discussion she hoped to have. Times were tense and she carried important plans with her. The council had many demands when they had spoken in the North as a clan. First and foremost, they wanted an end to the senseless bloodshed. They also wanted something else in return for damages caused to them, but she pushed that from her mind. It did linger in the back of her mind, however, and she secretly wondered if it was real or not...

Valdearg - June 23, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
Valdearg waited until they had passed him to go further into his cave, looking back every so often to make sure no one was following him. When at last he was satisfied that no one was coming, he stopped checking, and swiftly caught up to Sgiathatch and Belthil. Setting himself down comfortably on the stone floor, he turned to look at first Sgiathatch then Belthil. This conversation would be extremely important, and most likely it would greatly effect the lives of the dragons living everywhere. Or at least it would try to. Whether or not every dragon accepted what the council decided would be seen later on. "Sgiathatch, would you like to begin? Since you are from the council I would like to hear what it is that is being requested." While Valdearg wasn't even sure if the council wanted something of him, he doubted they would send a white dragon all the way to Lhachlich Volcano just to check up on the dragons. If they were sending someone, it was because there was something they wanted.

Turning to look at Belthil, Valdearg gave him a warning. "Try not to interrupt unless you actually have something to say, from the way Sgiathatch is acting, this is very important." With that said, Valdearg turned to look behing him once more, just as a precaution. With no one in sight, he turned and gave Sgiathatch his undivided attention, hardly blinking as he patiently waited for her to explain why she was there.

Keller - June 24, 2005 12:16 AM (GMT)
Belthil nodded at Valdearg. The dragon did not want to get on the bad side of this dragon. Belthil was also curious as to why Sgiathatch was here also. He had merely been here to help those in need, but a dragon from this council was here on a much more serious subject. "I too am interested in why another white dragon is here." Belthil stated. "Perhaps because of the war? Or something else, maybe?" Belthil questioned. He felt much better in the safety of this cave, than outside near the volcanoes, even if the ash made him look like a black dragon. Belthil could now pay full attention on what the two dragons had to say. Remember he was not to interupt, Belthil added. "Please continue, Sgiathatch." He made a quick glance over to Valdearg and smiled, hoping that he hadn't annoyed the dragon in any way. I hope this discussion doesn't take too long. Belthil thought to himself, looking back to the entrance of the cave to see if there were any dragons coming this way.

Sgiathatch - June 24, 2005 02:01 PM (GMT)
Sgiathatch could sense the tension within the smaller dragon and wondered why he was so nervous. She looked him up and down quickly. He didn't seem suspicious, but his nervousness was still on her mind. She couldn't be too careful in times like this. She nodded at them both in agreement, and sat on the floor of the cave. The room they were in wasn't very large, but there was a nice breeze that kept the air from getting hot and stuffy. Watching the light from a torch flicker against the wall, she began to go over the plans that her clan had sent her with.

"I will begin by stating the obvious. The old kinship among the dragon clans is dead. The white healers have been persecuted and killed. We fled our homes and have made new homes of the Northern lands. Yet still the bloodshed continues to spiral out of control. Our numbers lessen and we do not reproduce fast enough to replenish our numbers. We are wearing thin. Our kind is not the only kind that suffers from the vicious attacks, the Light Dragon race is being hunted down.

What caused this mysterious tension is unknown, but of late we have been sending our spies out to watch the other clans. I myself went on several espionage missions, and I have something disturbing to report. The once proud race of Black Dragons now follow dark ways. Their loyalty is to the God of Darkness and they seek to destroy those that oppose the God, Raku. They do not fight alone, no. With them walk the Red Dragons, and also there is some new, foul breed of dragon that Raku has given birth to. They are terrible heathens, merciless with their want for death, and terribly strong. There is also rumor of the Ice Dragons talking with a mysterious Shadow Dragon concerning plans of joining Raku.

In light of all these events, our clan has endured much suffering and we now seek to end it. We are forming alliances and preparing our warriors for battle. And we have come to an agreement. I have been sent here to ask a compensation from the Lord of the Red Dragons."
Sgiathatch paused and looked Valdearg in the eyes. Waiting for him to speak before continuing, She hoped he would not get angered when he heard the request of her clan.

Valdearg - June 24, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
Valdearg listened without saying a word, already knowing some of what Sgiathatch was saying. It was no big secret that some of the dragon races were declining in number, it was probably only the fact that they red dragons made their home on a volcano that kept their numbers the same. No dragon hunter would try to face an erupting volcano just to get at a dragon. So, once again this all boils down to the war, is there no escaping it? Valdearg shook his head, sighing silently as he thought about what Sgiathatch had told him. Why must people always include dragons in thier conflicts? Probably because they were the easiest to persuade. All someone had to do was describe the treasures that might be gained from a victory. Just about any red dragon would join a fight if there was a good chance it would result in increasing his treasure. Even Valdearg couldn't deny that he was tempted by the promise of riches, but he had wisdom to temper that desire. "I see, so they chose you to come and demand compensation of me? Well, what compensation do you want. If it is too great, even I won't be able to persuade the reds here to obey it. We are far from the Dragon Council, and we reds don't take too well to being forced to give up anything."

Valdearg spoke evenly, stating facts that were probably well known among other dragons. What Sgiathatch might not have realized, is that while Valdearg did hold the title of being ruler, he really didn't have all that much power. His main job was in settling disputes that cropped up, making him more of a judge than a ruler. He could make suggestions that were in the interest of the dragons, and they would probably be followed, but he never ordered the dragons to do anything. "Well, Sgiathatch, lets hear your demands."

Belthil was shocked. He had known that the tensions between dragons were high, but he never imagined it was this bad. "I was not aware that Raku had such an influence on dragons..." He said, talking more to himself than the other two. "And I suppose that they are beyond salvation." Belthil added, letting out a sigh. The white dragon was also surprised when he heard the mentioning of compensation. "I don't beleive compensation would be a good idea. If other dragons were to here, they would probably just be tempted to finish us off, so they would not have to lose anything." Belthil realized he was interrupting the discussion between the two. "I apologize, it is not my place to decide what is wise and what is not." He said, reluctantly. Belthil would have imagined that the light and white dragons would have allied and fought back, or atleast something similar to that. But instead, it would seem that most would run instead of fight. His thoughts returned to the request of Sgiathatch. Not a wise idea in my opinion, asking for compensation. Dragons often have treasure, but money or gold won't bring back those who have died. Other than that, Belthil could not think of anything else the dragons here had.

Belthil sat on the floor of the cave. His fear of this place had seemed to have vanished. Although he still kept an eye on the entrance of the cave. All that remained in Belthil was anger at the hatred of his kind. Raku... The dragon thought of the God of Darkness, and his new breed of dragons. Belthil was sure they were abominations. Which gave humans just another reason to hunt dragons. It seemed that Raku was the source of all the problems that concerned Belthil. He knew not why the Elder Clan didn't just send a legion of dragons at him. A God he was, but he can only kill so much. Belthil smiled at the thought.
