Title: Sparring
Description: First come, no killing

Miguel - June 12, 2006 04:32 AM (GMT)
Coming upon an empty ring of dirt in the middle of the tall grasses, Miguel lazily twirling his light, but strong staff between his fingers, noting others fighting in what might be called death matches or just friendly rounds in the distance. Flipping a few strands of his brown hair out of his eyes, he began to stretch out lazily, letting the kinks in his back from walking all day work themselves out. His sturdy brown boots were worn, but well-made and incredibly flexible which helped when he fought, and his clothes held much the same qualities. Hopefully, someone who was just looking for a good workout as well would come along soon, he could do with a friendly round to help keep him in shape. Finishing, he sat to one side in the partial shade of the waist-high grass, meditating with his staff set down beside him as he waited.

Zelris - June 14, 2006 03:31 AM (GMT)
Zelris trveled back to Salquedor grasslands after hearing about a training area somewhere within the grassland. zelri usually doesn't perticipate in a fight that doesn't serve any purpose to his search, but he thought that a little sparring match might be good to keep his reflexs and battle skills sharp. After finally arriving at the training area Zelris looked around to see if anyone was free for a sparring match, but it seemed like everyone had a partner. Zelris moved some hair out of his face with his index finger and said," Well I guess I have to wait since there are no people without a partner."As Zelris took one final look he noticed someone sitting on the sidelines of the sparring grounds. Zelris thought that maybe he might spar with him and decided to ask. Zelris went up to theman and asked," Would you like to spar with me?"

Miguel opened his eyes when a shadow appeared over him, grinning up at the odd fellow above him.

"That is what I'm here for, so I suppose so."

Standing, he stretched once more, rolling his staff on top of his foot and giving it a swift lift in the air to come to his right hand. Setting it solidly beside him in the dirt, he leaned on it slightly as he looked over the creature before him. Wings weren't that unusual around here, but having them different colors wasn't. Shrugging to himself that it hardly matters as long as his partner didn't try and kill him, he glanced around the ring and found it still empty besides them.

"Do you have a name, friend? It makes it easier to pull the killing blow when there's a name to go with a face."

His voice was somewhat teasing, and any casual observer could tell he truly didn't mean any threat by it at all.

Zelris - June 15, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)
Zelris watched as the stranger got up and rolled his staff up on to his foot. Then use his foot to lift it up to his right hand. The starnger looked at Zelris face-to-face and asked," Do you have a name, friend? It makes it easier to pull the killing blow when there's a name to go with a face. "

Zelris could see that he wasn't serious and was joking, so he didn't take it seriously, but did take it as a challange. Zelris craked a half smile and said," Is that a challange my friend? Well I accept that challange. Oh before i forget my name is Zelris, what may i ask is yours?"

Zelris waited for a reply as he got ready for their sparring session. Zelris took off his robe to reveal his black T-shirt underneath. He also just wore black pants. He then took a band out off his traveling bag and tied up his hair. Now he had a ponytail and kind of looked like a japanese samuari but with wings

Miguel chuckled, shrugging his shoulders as he got to his feet and loosened up rather quickly. His staff was rather plain, but light, and he twirled it between his fingers with great ease.

"I am Miguel, friend Zelris."

He checked his boot straps and dropped his belt to the side before shaking out his legs and moving to stand just a few feet away from the newcomer. With his vest already removed and his shirt loose from his pants, he had a great deal more mobility that he might have otherwise. Holding his staff in both hands, he twisted to the right and left to ensure the maximum amount of movement and crack his back before he set himself in his stance. Sliding his right foot forward slightly and his left back, he centered his balance and set his staff along the same angle as his feet, the left higer than the right and the right more forward and the left. Bending his knees just enough that he was precariously balanced between springing forward or backwards, he halted there with a smile, chin down and brown hair just barely staying out of his eyes.

"Whenever you are ready, friend."

Zelris - June 20, 2006 01:00 PM (GMT)
Zelris watched as Miguel got into his stance and was amazed. Zelris could clearly see that he had planed his stance wisely. Bending his knees just enough so he spring forward or backward whenever he needed to, that would really help him dodge alot of attacks. When Miguel got in position and was completely ready he said, "Whenever you are ready, friend." Zelris was still staring and completely forgot that he didn't get ready yet.

He took his samuari sword out of his seathe and threw it down in the ground outside the sparring ring. Zelris said," I don't like to use real swords when sparring, so i'll just use its seathe, if thats okay with you my friend?" Zelris quicly stretched, rotating both of his arms, and twisting his body left and right to ensure that his body wasn't so stiff. After

Zelris was done he began to take his stance. He slide his feet across the dirt until they were equally apart. He took the seathe and held it with both hands with the tip of the seathe facing Miguel. Zelris stared at Miguel so he could quickly tell if he made any quick movements. Zelris said," Okay I'm ready my friend."

Miguel - June 23, 2006 02:20 PM (GMT)
"Then we begin."

Miguel shifted his weight fluidly, without hesitation or break in movement as he quickly swung his left foot forward while using his right as the axis point and keeping his center of gravity low with his knees bent. His left arm followed his left leg, his right arm coming down to his right hip in a motion that sent the higher end of his staff right into the center of his opponents make-shift katana, much like swordsmen often cross their blades. The blow was meant to knock the blade to the opponent's right side, leaving a hole towards the chest or the right forearm. The movement did not stop there, though, as Miguel immediately switched his right hand to the top and his left hand to the bottom of the grips and shoved it as hard as he could, letting the staff slide three inches forward through his grip before he held it firmly it both hands. If it struck, the blow would also have the added force of his legs and knees pushing into it. He was centered on his toes, though, to leave him the ability to leap quickly away if he must.
