Gabriel stood, quietly and placidly, gazing solemnly out across the wheat-filled fields. A breeze stirred the high grass, and the demon’s cloak with it, the dark material fluttering at his feet and rustling against the weeds. A deep cowl hid the demon’s face, and the dark-tinged skin of his hands were the only part of his body visible. Long black boots, tightly laced, were accented against the dark grey of his cloak. Menacing evil radiated from every inch of the ominously dressed warrior. Nearby the various cries and yowls of the animals of the fields drifted across the field to the demon’s pricked ears. He turned his head to the side, listening intently.
There…That was what he was looking for. He turned and strode through the wheat-fields and towards his goal. His cloak fluttered out behind him in the slight wind and drug along carelessly in the dirt when the wind ceased. As he crested a hill, he saw his destination. In a narrow valley lies a small ranch, beautifully scenic and altogether excellently placed. An elegant stream wound it’s way down from the nearby mountainside, snow-capped peaks glistening in the late afternoon sun before lancing directly through the cluster of homes. Sheep grazed placidly on the lush, green grass, and smoke rose from several chimneys. Straining his eyes, Gabriel picked out several men and women. A small smile twitched across his lips. His eyes widened, yet the pupils narrowed.
“Yes…Yesss…You knowww that you want it…need it…” A voice whispered fiercely in his ears, and the demon cocked his head as if he were listening to a person standing next to him.
“Go on…Take it. Killll them…drink their blood…They don’t need it anymore.” The voice encouraged Gabriel to move, and he traversed the slight slope down the hill, where he met up with the crystalline blue stream. There he paused, uncertainty halting his inevitable genocide of these innocent people.
“Go onnn. Take it.” Still the assassin didn’t move, transfixed as he was. The grass at his feet rustled in the breeze, and his clawed fists were clenched tightly into fists at his side.
“TAKE IT!” The voice almost screamed the command, and the smile returned to the bloodless lips of the demon, invisible due to the deep shadows of his hood. He walked along the bank of the water for several miles, the sun slowly setting beyond the high mountains. The voice in his head ravaged along all the while, whispering to him (“blood…blood…ahhthebloodthattastessogood!”) the entire time. The assassin never grew tired of his ceaseless companion, he just kept walking, each step bringing him closer to the bloodshed he so desired. Before long, he had reached his destination.
The sun had almost completely set. Twilight ensued, and a deep chill had set in to the small community. Gabriel strode into the middle of this cluster of shacks, huts and houses. A makeshift plaza, complete with watering trough, was the warrior’s final and ultimate goal. As he reached the center of the courtyard, several of the people standing there looking at him in confusion, the persistent voice stopped, and the eerie silence was overwhelming. Gabriel stood there, head bowed, ominous and foreboding. The people backed away and continued on about their business. Several moments later, a priest, or atleast a man of some substance among the dwellers of the rural village, came and confronted the assassin.
“E..Excuse me? Sir? M-may I help you?” Gabriel didn’t need to rely on his scent to know that the man was afraid. His smile deepened, the sharp incisors gleaming in the fading light. The man stretched out a hand cautiously, standing in front of the warrior uncertainly. The assassin’s muscles tensed, he was…eager…ready…(BLOOD!)..
In a flash of bright steel, the man’s hand was suddenly removed from his arm, and his loud cry of pain was brief and short lived. The next second, with the mere twitching of his arm, Gabriel slashed across the man’s throat, and a fountain of blood cascaded out and seeped into the thirsty, uncaring ground. Gabriel knelt and drank thirst fully. A moment later, the initial shock the people standing around the plaza experienced finally kicked in when one woman screamed at the top of her lungs, a shrill cry that would have frozen the heart of any man. Gabriel lifted his head, the damp blood glistening off of his still smiling lips.
The night had begun, and with it, the Terror.
(EDIT: I was unsure of opening this or not. If anyone does want to join, please feel free! I don't really care either way. I was just sort of hoping to introduce Gabriel...)
Jen was one of the villagers who witnessed the inncodent but she only smiled. She was a vampiress but the others that she was speaking with thought she was human. When the other humans saw this event they fled into the streets and alleyways behind her.
Now it was just her and the demon. At least she figured he was a demon by the way he looked.
"Hello sir." Jen said walking up to him, but she did stay a good fifteen feet back from him. "Your probably wandering why I havent left yet. I am a vampire...or vampiress to be correct. Since you managed to get some blood...do you mind if I take some after your done? I really dont feel like killing any more innocent people right now..."
The vampiress eyes him carefully and awaited for his response.
Zelris walked through the gasslands enjoying the fresh air. Zelris stopped to admire the scenery of the lands, the beautiful trees, and green grass, everything seemed so peacful here. He looked up at the sky and moved his long jet black hair back behind with his index finger to keep from getting in his face. Zelris then walked toward a tree and sat down, leaning against the tree trunk.
Zelris said," Well I think I deserve atleast a little break for all the stuff I've been through searching for information about my past." Zelris put his head back and slowly closed his eyes, but suddenly he heard a scream. Zelris was completely sure it was the scream of a human. Zelris quickly stood up and went to follow the sounds of the screams, but before he could even reach the source the screaming stopped.
But Zelris knew where it was leading and keeped running toward the source of the screaming. When Zelris finally reached the source he found a rauko just like himself and a vampire. Zelris thought... That's Jen? What is she doing her? I hope she wasn't apart of this.
Jen looked at the demon and thought about what else she could say. She really didnt need to drink some blood right now...but why waste it? Jen strung her bow that was around her shoulder and knocked an arrow. She raise her bow toward the incoming intruder.
The vampiress looked at the new Rauko who had just approached. "Halt, who goes there!...wait...Zelris?! Is that you...it is you!" Jen lowered her weapon and walked over to him. "What are y...wait you heard those screams right? Yeah i thought so..." She turned and pointed at Gabriel. "...he is the source. He killed that man just a few minutes ago. I was just walking through the streets when all this occured. So what have you been up too dear friend?" She added giving Zeris a gentle hug. "Ive been basically traveling as usual...but now that we've caught up to each other, again, we can travel together, yes?"
Jen smiled and looked at her dear friend who she hadn't seen for quite a while.
I wander if that Gabriel fellow is dangerous...wait of course he is otherwise he wouldn't have killed that poor innocent man...killing someone means your responsible for that life...I wander if he knows that...I would doubt it...Jen thought to herself. Maybe I should warn Zelris...Yes I shall. I dont kill people for blood...I kill small animals and snakes and such and drink there blood...but I am still responsible for that animal's life...argh...life survives at the cost of another...
Jen turned to her friend and said,"I think he's dangerous...I would advise not getting to close...but you probably already knew that. Sorry I just had to say that. But I am very glad to see you again, Zelris^^."
The vampiress looked at her friend and awaited for him to reply.
