Title: Worn and Beaten.
Ruu - May 31, 2006 12:12 AM (GMT)
He lay on his side next to the lake, nearly unconscious, wishing he were. He was in great pain, whimpering. A small group of wolves attacked him, thinking him easy prey, but they were wrong, though he had beaten them, it'd left him weak and helpless. Their bloody corpses lay on the ground near him, the only smell covering the salty air.

Another lake, it seemed...well, that certainly didn't take long. Shrugging to himself as he looked out to the distance to where the lake was, he continued to wander along, not bothering to figure out whatever was around him, though it would be easy enough. He still just wanted to rest, and he didn't get that much of a chance at the falls...hopefully this would be different.
When he began to come near the lake, however, he felt something all too familiar. Death...but they weren't human, or humanoid, just animals. That was at least comforting...if they were humanoid, then he'd leave immediately for fear of returning to his former self, which had been threatening to happen since he'd finished off the demon that could potentially be called his brother.
Soon enough, a fully black-cloaked figure could be seen walking toward the corpses of the wolves that had been killed, and one that was apparently still alive but badly hurt. Walking over to it and glancing down with his one red left eye, he knelt down by it, feeling something...strange, from it, and lowered the hood of his cloak, revealing the head of what seemed to be a 19-year-old human, with black, curved-up hair partly held by a dark blue headband that covered his right eye. "Well, looks like you must be pretty tough...I should probably clean up and bandage those wounds for you, and luckily I recently learned how," he said to the small wolf, in a voice befitting his apparent form.

He whiimpered, hearing footsteps approach, praying it wasn't another wolf, coming to finish him. He opened his eyes to a blurry sight, but not like that of a wolf. He released his tension with an exhale from his nose, and wagged his tail slightly. He tried lifting his head, but whined again from the pain.
Lance - June 1, 2006 01:15 PM (GMT)
"Hm...looks like you're hurt pretty badly..." he said, and seemed to fumble around inside his cloak for something, sighing after a few moments. "Great...I knew I should've picked up some bandages or something while I was in the city. Not that I'd ever need them, but for just in case purposes...oh well, guess I'll have to make do with what I have," he continued, and tore the hood of his cloak forcefully off, in turn tearing a small patch off from it. Walking over to the water, he knelt down and soaked it in water, then returned to the small blue wolf. Wishing he had more experience with this sort of thing, he looked around at the cuts it had, and began gently cleaning them one at a time, returning to the water every so often to get the piece of cloth wet again.
After a short while, he was done, and grumbled slightly when he realized that the hood wouldn't be enough. Thus, he tore off the full left sleeve of his cloak, carefully tearing across it until it was one long strip. His arm, as well, appeared human, with the sleeve of a black T-shirt sticking out from the now open area of the cloak, and black, strapped, mostly fingerless gloves running down half of his forearm. "Well, suppose I can't really bandage you up or anything without you getting up...just wish I could still use my old healing abilities, then this would be a lot easier..."

He winced a bit every time the wet cloth met his wounds, and after the man'd cleaned him up a bit, he spoke to him, something about needing him to stand. He tried using all of his strength, in an attempt to stand. He succeeded. He looked up at the man, and, after finding him trustworthy, spoke,
"Thank you, I apologize... for the damage... to your cloak..."

"Thank you, I apologize... for the damage... to your cloak..." the small wolf said as he slowly stood up, and Lance simply shrugged, beginning to wrap the torn strip of his former cloak sleeve around his body between his two pairs of legs, where most of the wounds were. As for the small amount elsewhere...well, he'd cleaned those up and they were in somewhat strange locations, so he didn't much know what to do about those. After all, he was just doing what he'd vaguely remembered seeing other people do for injured folks a small few times.
"Don't worry about it," he said as he finished the strip, which fortunately turned out to be long enough, and tied it up lightly at the end onto another part that had already been fully wrapped around. "It's not like these things are particularly expensive, after all, and I've got plenty of money to spare and nothing to use it on anyway. As for your injuries, though, that's pretty much the best I can do...it's not much, but it's the extent of what little I know about injuries at all, so hopefully it'll at least help. Anyway...since you seem to be able to talk, which I figured you could from the feeling I got from you, mind if I ask your name? Mine's Lance, a simple wanderer," he said, not wishing to put in any part about him being a demon. In a situation like this, he knew full well that that could easily raise suspicion.
Ruu - June 4, 2006 01:58 AM (GMT)
"I thank you,"
He said, moving his head around a bit, making sure the pain waasn't too bad, seeing what damage was still not fixed, but he found it rather easy to move.
"And my name, well, I've come to be known as Ruu."
He grinned, looking up.
"And by your scent, I shall remember you."
He bowed, and turned opposite, whiffing the air after his turn.
"Wait... Your scent..."
He turned back slightly.
Lance - June 4, 2006 04:06 PM (GMT)
"I thank you," the wolf responded, moving his head around a little probably to check how good the bandages would do. Hopefully well enough...it wasn't exactly one of Lance's areas of expertise. "And my name, well, I've come to be known as Ruu," the wolf, Ruu, continued, looking up and grinning. "And by your scent, I shall remember you."
But as Ruu bowed and turned around, sniffing at the air, Lance frowned slightly, which was hardly perceptible even though his face was now showing. Scent...he hadn't considered that the wolf would obviously have strong senses, including the sense of smell, and he didn't have much of a scent, given that he wasn't a living being by normal standards. What little scent he did have, however, could easily give away what he was hiding under this human form.
"Wait... Your scent..." the wolf said, and turned back slightly. Sighing to himself, Lance stood up, stretching out a bit from kneeling down for so long. If anyone noticed within the blackness of the cloak while he stretched out, they could possibly see the tip of a jet-black, almost dragon-like tail, but only for a very brief moment.
"Guess you've probably basically figured out, so I suppose I don't really have a place here at the moment. Just know that I didn't do anything bad to those wounds...that wouldn't have been my style even way back when anyway," he said, beginning to walk away.
Ruu - June 4, 2006 11:10 PM (GMT)
"Wait, I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, did I?"
He smiled and turned to face the now distant man.
"Whatever your past, or the past of your people, you helped me without hesitation, it seems. You had no way of knowing if I'd attack you preceding this action."
He trotted up the man called 'Lance,' and stood before him.

"Wait, I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, did I?" Lance heard the wolf call out, and stopped, glancing back to him with his one eye, noticing that he was smiling. That was certainly unexpected...usually when someone figured out in such a way that he was a demon, they'd either try to attack him or stay away from him, although he had to admit that he had somewhat of a strange affinity with normal animals, who didn't seem to mind him much. "Whatever your past, or the past of your people, you helped me without hesitation, it seems. You had no way of knowing if I'd attack you preceding this action," the wolf continued, trotting up to him.
"True enough, though really I wasn't much concerned about that...it's not as though you were really in any condition to, and I have a decent sense of when something will be hostile towards me anyway," Lance responded. The sense he was talking about wasn't exactly from his own natural demonic ability to sense creatures around him, and what they were, but from his sword training, which gave him a certain sense of danger and where it was coming from. "Now that I think of it, though, what was all that about back there? I've seen animals fight over territory and all that, but not so many gang up on a relatively small one like yourself...no offense meant, of course," he continued.
Ruu - June 5, 2006 07:32 PM (GMT)
He listened to him talk, nodding when appropriate. After he started the question about the two teaming against him, he responded.
"There isn't much food around, lately. Some of them do, as has been shown, cannibalism."
He frowned and shook his head left to right.
"Leading my small pack, not many people know of us, but some have heard of me being stronger than I look.I guess they wanted to see how strong exactly, who knows. Quite a few reasons for attacking, perhaps. Luckily, some of our stomachs have grown to be omnivorous, from my pack."

"There isn't much food around, lately. Some of them do, as has been shown, cannibalism," the wolf answered his question, and Lance nodded. That would make sense enough, though he was new around here, so couldn't exactly be sure how many animals and such were around, and how good the food sources for them were. Then Ruu continued, frowning and shaking his head. "Leading my small pack, not many people know of us, but some have heard of me being stronger than I look. I guess they wanted to see how strong exactly, who knows. Quite a few reasons for attacking, perhaps. Luckily, some of our stomachs have grown to be omnivorous, from my pack."
"Well, it can be fairly tough being a leader sometimes...I'd know, to an extent, though I never really liked being a leader anyway. I'm more of an independent person, doing my own thing and hoping for others to simply not get in the way of that," Lance said, and looked around a bit, thinking of something to do. "So what now?"
