Title: Making a home
kai_fox - May 2, 2006 04:39 PM (GMT)
Really, this didn't seem like the best place to stick around too long, but he needed a place to stay, and he much preferred the wilderness, particularly forests, to cities, so thus he'd found this rainforest, a type of forest that he'd never previously been to. The problem was it was all muddy across the ground, making him glad he wore boots, and it was humid and wet everywhere. Not to mention the bugs and other animals that had already claimed this place for their own...
But nonetheless, he needed a place to stay, so this seemed as good a one as any for his preferences, just so long as the bigger predators stayed well enough away, for their own sakes. If there was anything he didn't want, it was him coming out almost as soon as arriving at a new land, which had happened at least twice before, neither of those times ending very well. Finding a small place where the trees were slightly more spread out, Kai sat down against a tree to rest, occasionally batting away some of the bugs that flew around him, wondering what really to expect from this new land.

Ana was one of those "other animals," barely civilized enough to be considered humanoid. The tiny creature was hidden beneath a low-lying shrub to the man's right, delicate and frail, like the others of her kind. In fact, she was very similar to other pixies - a slender build, almond shaped eyes, slightly pointed ears, and shimmering, gauzey wings. How pretty! Like a little china statue one might find in an antique store, she was fragile-looking, a fairy-tale. Literally.
Her attire was... ragged, to say the least, a strapless gown-type of thing that went to about mid-thigh... Picture Tinkerbell from Peter Pan, minus the poof and just a faded gray color instead of green. There you have it. Ebony tresses fell about her exotic features, framing the delicately pale blue eyes that were so entrancing, so sparklingly playful, that a smile grows to anyone looking into them, despite their icily light hue. What a cutie she was!
Her wings were constantly moving as she watched the man, fingers curled around the top edge of a smallish leaf - one that was more than big enough to disguise her 2 inch high frame, but she'd pulled it down somewhat, making the top half of her head visible so that she could see what was going on... But she probably wouldn't be spotted unless this guy was very observant; she was just that small and insignificant. Those limbs that attached to her spine just between her shoulder blades opened and closed slowly, always moving... Why? Oh, there was a very important reason for the fact that they never stopped in their movements, always opening and closing, whether or not she was flying; but we won't go into that just yet, since it's not all that relevant.
A trio of pouches hung from a string looped around her waist, said string being more like a rope, to her, but for anyone of a normal height, it was the thinnest of strings, a finely woven thread of silk. The pouches each had a different color: red, blue, and green. She seemed to always have them, but rarely were their contents used... It was precious stuff, that she carried around, and yet she seemed to have an inexhaustable supply of it, somehow. Hmm... Something to ponder, once again.
For now, though, the teenage-looking pixie remained where she was, tucked into the shadows beneath a low-lying shrub a few feet from the man's side... A playful grin plasted onto those features as she watched him.

(yay! someone posted! *hugs* )
After a moment, the bugs finally seemed to give up, or something of the sort, and he crossed his arms behind his head, resting it back against them and the tree he was sitting by. Now that the bugs were gone, it certainly was peaceful around here, if a bit wet for his personal tastes. Of course, his fire wouldn't be back for some time after he'd sealed it, though how many times he'd done that he'd so far lost count. If he kept it up, they might never come back, which certainly wouldn't be convenient.
While he sat there, however, something felt...well, he couldn't say wrong, but slightly out of place. Having developed certain senses from spending most of the time in the wild, outside of cities and towns and other populated areas, he felt as if something, or more probably someone, was watching him. What was strange about that was, as much as the dampness somewhat reduced his sense of smell, he still should be able to smell whatever it was, or see, or even hear, but there didn't seem to be anything around. Shrugging to himself and figuring it was nothing, he leaned back and took a needed rest, thinking about all the things he'd have to do while he was in this land as he unwittingly drifted slowly off to sleep.
ChildofRoses - May 17, 2006 12:31 AM (GMT)
{Yup, I did... I feel sorry for you :p }
Resisting the urge to cackle wickedly, the tiny pixie just bided her time, waiting and watching the unsuspecting man with a sly, trickster's grin upon those foreign features of hers. She was gonna get this one gooooood...
She had to avoid letting out a squeal of glee as he finally dozed off, allowing her to peer out a bit further from behind her leaf... It seemed that the coast was clear. Letting the leaf go, the shrub shivered quietly, as though in a breeze, before settling again. By the time the small plant had fallen still once more, the small, dark-haired pixie was already in flight, grinning a prankster's grin, one that seemed to split her entire face in half.
The small being happened to know that the tree the man was leaning back against during his nap was infested with small insects - mites, to use the term loosely, and that the bark was loose, the underside of the tree's outer skin positively covered in the small brown bugs. How did she know this, you ask? She's a pixie - she could tell these things with one glance. Being a creature of the forest, knowledge of plants was just a given for her, and thus, knowledge of plant infirmities was also a given for her. Bad luck for him, though.
Latching herself onto the tree about two feet over the man's head, she glanced down at him once with a mischeivous smirk before tugging on a particularly loose peice of bark. It tore free after only a few forceful jerks of her miniature frame, falling perfectly, only the slightest of snaps signaling it's release from the infected tree. If he leaned forward, the bark and attached mites would fall down the back of his shirt. If he remained where he was, it would probably hit him in the head, and the mites would take up a new home in his hair. Meanwhile, Ana seemed to have disappeared.
In all actuality, she was tucked behind a root of the tree, only the top half of her head visible once more as she watched. This was always the best part: the victim's reaction. She wasn't about to miss it.
kai_fox - May 17, 2006 07:49 PM (GMT)
(eh, I'm fine with being felt sorry for O.o; oh, and not wearing a shirt x.x )
Kai's ears twitched very slightly, perhaps too much to notice, as they picked up the sound of the leaves moving, though it didn't wake him up...it seemed too little of a thing to get bothered about, and thus he remained asleep. Had he known what was happening, however, he would've reacted as the pixie approached him, but it was too small for his senses of smell or hearing to really pick up accurately. The same, of course, went for the bugs that were currently infesting the tree. He personally didn't like bugs, but he could usually take care of them fairly easily, at least when he didn't have his seal active.
After another few moments, however, his ears twitched again, somewhat more noticeably, at the sound of the bark being removed from the tree. Then shortly afterward it landed on his head, and he grumbled, seeming to pick it up and toss it off in his sleep. When he realized that a few bugs seemed to have escaped from it, however, he woke up slowly, sighing and standing up, scratching his head to get them out of there. Turning around while he was doing this, he looked up at the tree, scanning around with his eyes, nose, and ears to see if he could find anything that caused that piece of bark to fall. There still didn't seem to be anything, though, and the tree did appear old now that he noticed it...maybe it was just him? He wasn't entirely sure either way, though, so he figured he'd try the old-fashioned approach, which had worked for him in the past most of the time. "Alright...whoever's there, come out, I know you're up there," he called up, searching mostly around the area of the tree that the piece of bark seemed to have fallen from, and where insects were crawling around.
ChildofRoses - May 17, 2006 09:40 PM (GMT)
She had a hard time stifling her laughter... But smother the sound she did, for the best was yet to come. As the man turned and yelled upwards into the tree, his attention turned up to the branches above his head, the pixie tiptoed around behind him in a circle that was about.. maybe two feet in radius or so, with him as it's centerpoint.
As soon as she was behind him, she took flight, her wings shimmering faintly from their rapid movements as they cut through the air, carrying her upwards 'til she had reached the spot at the base of his neck. From there, she'd grab ahold of the collar of his shirt and hold on tight, grinning as she began to put her plan into action.... If he hadn't caught her, that is. Her weight probably wouldn't be noticed as it pulled the collar of his shirt back ever so slightly, since it was so insignificant. She had hollow bones, you see, much like a bird, so that those fragile-looking dragonfly wings could carry her through the air with ease.
But yes! She'd latched onto the back of his collar, still having a difficult time keeping herself from laughing. She did it, though, staying pretty much silent throughout the process. The trickiest part hopefully had been finished, though - and that was getting to his collar. From there, it'd be smooth sailing. If he caught her, though.. Well, should that happen, it would be dealt with accordingly.
kai_fox - May 18, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)
(eh...again, no shirt, like the pic O.o; )
Kai scratched the back of his head a bit again, and frowned slightly. Well, that didn't work, so either nobody was there, which seemed rather unlikely, or he just couldn't find them, which itself was rather strange. Shrugging, mainly to himself, he turned around, looking around the forest around him and still unable to find anything. First things probably first, he'd have to find another tree to rest by, hopefully this time one that was healthy and wasn't bug-infested, which there had to be even in an overly damp rainforest like this.
As he looked around, though, he slightly felt something around the fur at the back of his neck. It was probably more of those bugs, or something...lousy things, getting everywhere and hard to get rid of. Apparently they even infested trees here, which didn't seem a very pleasant thought. Ignoring these thoughts for now, he went to scratch the back of his neck around where he'd felt something, looking around for maybe some other clearing that seemed promising enough to rest.
ChildofRoses - May 19, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)
Oh no! Tragic! She was about as tall as the length of half his middle finger, so having him scratch where she was led to serious trouble. Her grip on his shirt only tightened as his fingers raked along where she was, her tiny body trembling. This could be her doom. If he caught her wings, the fragile limbs would probably shred, leaving her to a flightless life, and, thusly, a very early death.
She held her breath as he scratched along his collar, holding her wings together and completely still as she waited, unable to do all that much. She, until he stopped scratching, was helpless. An opening came (luckily, she'd been in between his middle and index fingers as he scratched in her general area), and she took it, clambering upwards nimbly before tucking herself just on the inside of his collar, resting pretty much on the back of his neck. Whew. Safety - for now.
He'd be able to feel her for sure, now, so she was quick to move, grabbing one of the three pouches on her hip - the blue one - and tugging it open. Inside was a pixie's handful of shimmering bluish purple powder... It was pixie dust. The kind that made any being, save for a pixie, sleep deeply for about twenty minutes - more than enough time for her to play her prank and make a getaway without ever being noticed.
Each movement she made would make her presence just on the inside of his shirt all the move noticeable, so she did her best to keep from shifting in her seat - but sometimes it was just necessary. For example: at first, her wings had been pressed too tightly against the inside of his collar, so she'd had to turn so that she was sideways against his neck. They were very sensitive limbs, having no outer layer of skin to protect them, so she had to be incredibly careful in taking care of them. Without that pair of limbs in full working order upon her back, her life would be ruined.
So yes. She was very careful.
kai_fox - May 20, 2006 03:09 PM (GMT)
(you're not paying attention, are you x.x fine, he'll have a shirt in this thread...)
Well, there didn't seem to be anything there, and that slight tugging seemed to have went away, so Kai let his hand fall back to his side, then slipped both hands into his pockets, looking around a bit for somewhere else to go. Even if there wasn't actually anything or anyone else around, there had been too much things happening in this particular spot for him to be entirely comfortable, meaning that he'd have to make his resting spot in this rainforest, if he even made it here, at another location.
As he walked along through the rainforest, however, he felt something around the back of his neck again, just under his shirt, which he wouldn't be wearing for long in this land. It was probably nothing, but he hated to think if it was any more of those bugs from that tree, which he was fairly certain he'd gotten rid of by now. In a relatively short time, he came across another slight clearing in the forest, perhaps somewhat more damp than the last, but he could live with that. Looking around at the trees, he walked over to one that looked promising and was shorter than the rest to a small extent, and placed a hand on it. He couldn't feel anything in it, and it looked healthy enough, so he sat back against it, hoping to actually get some rest this time.
ChildofRoses - May 20, 2006 05:21 PM (GMT)
{{ I am paying attention! I thought you were talking about irl <.< So it was just like "...okay.. whatever.." >.> Sorry. It looked like a shirt in the pic at first glance. }}
With a wicked grin upon those exotically elegant features, she began to climb, not wanting to give off the faint hum her wings emanated when she flew. She climbed up the back of his neck and into his hair, gingerly making her way to the crown of his head; the very topmost area. With the blue pouch open in her hand still, it would be more than easy enough to dump the powder just over his forehead and right into his face. All this was done after he'd sat down again, though.
If she'd made it to the top of his head and been able to dump about half of the powder into his face, he'd see a cloud of glimmering bluish purple dust in his face, blurring his vision. It would only work if he breathed it in, though, so she remained on the top of his head, hoping that he either didn't notice (that would only be if he'd closed his eyes already) and breathed it in, or was suprised enough to breathe in deeply, thus inhaling the powder and setting it into his system. The effect, should he breathe it in, would be immediate.
Intense exhaustion would override his senses, placing an ever-so alluring temptation of just closing his eyes and sleeping before him... An offer it would be very difficult to refuse. The powder would affect any being save for a pixie, since pixies were the ones that could create the dust... In fact, none of the powders she carried would affect her or another of her kind. Great, huh? She had a basically unlimited supply of the powders, since she could make them herself, and they didn't affect her in the slightest.
Whether or not the powder was inhaled by the man upon whose head she sat, she just relaxed, lounging in his hair lazily. What a little slacker.
kai_fox - May 21, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
(eh...not going there x.x; )
Kai's ears slightly perked up again as the unnoticed pixie climbed up his head, which he barely felt, figuring it must be one of those bugs or something, which he'd take care of later...right now he just wanted to relax. Grumbling slightly, he scratched the back of his neck again just in case, and sniffed around, making sure that nothing else was around, which there didn't seem to be. Something still seemed to be bothering him, as if there was something around and he wasn't noticing it, but he'd been wandering around too long to really worry about anything like that.
After a few moments, he crossed his arms behind his head, leaning back against the tree and slowly drifting back off to sleep after taking a small trip through some of his memories, back to the point when he was ten, when his life took its second large dive. But that was then, this was now, and thus, he fell asleep again, hoping that this land wouldn't be as bad as some others he'd been to.
ChildofRoses - May 24, 2006 02:06 AM (GMT)
The tiny pixie only allowed herself the faintest of snickers as he dozed off, peering down over his forehead and into his eyes, making sure he was asleep. He was. A wicked grin plastered itself onto her exotic features and she straightened, turning back to face his ears... Oh, this would be fun. Her icy blue eyes roamed the dual hearing organs for a moment before she came to her conclusion, taking a seat upon the young man's head and pulling out her pipes quietly. It seemed she was going to play something... But pixie music was no prank... And why did she still have that mischeivous grin upon her countenance?
It was clear that she was up to no good. But for a few moments, she just cleaned the pipes, using a rag that had been tucked into the string about her waist to wipe them off and clean them out. Then, once that job was finished, she raised the instrument to her lips and blew with all her might, her body quivering as she forced the air through as fast and suddenly as she could.
Now... She'd placed her lips over the highest three possible notes, so when she blew, the most terrible screeching noise issued from the musical instrument, drastically louder than one might expect from a set of pipes a fraction of an inch in length. Before 'playing,' Ana had aimed the opposite ends of the pipes upwards somewhat, so that the instrument was on a parallel with the young man's head, pointed directly into one of his ears (the left, to be precise).
So the sound would pound into his ears, more one than the other, but both would almost definitely pick up the sound, especially if he had an animal's hearing. She wasn't free from the effects, though. The sound seemed to press in on her eardrums, the insanely highpitched and loud sound much more like a dogwhistle that normal people could hear than a sound a set of pipes might back. She really was a trickster - but she wanted to see the man's reaction. That was the main goal of any of her pranks... To get a reaction from the person, to see the expression on their faces.
But, then again, what else would you expect from a pixie?
kai_fox - May 24, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Kai grumbled slightly in his sleep as the pixie crawled up his head, leaning down to apparently make sure that he was asleep. True, he didn't wake up, but he still felt it well enough, though there probably wasn't any need to react to it, he figured subconciously. Instead, he simply continued to breathe softly in his sleep, currently oblivious to what was happening.
In the light of a sudden high-pitched noise, however, both his ears immediately perked up before flattening themselves somewhat on his head. Each of them were twitching in moderate pain, as sensitive to such a high pitch as much as a normal fox's would be. His face contorted in the effort to block it out, consciously as it woke him up soon enough, though that had probably been expected. Now he really knew that something was here...that noise was coming from directly above him, and a short distance, it seemed. Not having consciously noticed something crawling up his head earlier, he groaned and got up, looking around up to the trees and their branches above him, intent on tracking whatever had been tormenting him for most of this relatively short time that he'd been in this rainforest. Something was around somewhere, he knew it...he just wasn't sure what or where, which annoyed him.
ChildofRoses - May 25, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
She couldn't help it. Even if her interruption of his nap hadn't gotten much of a reaction, she just couldn't resist letting out a soft chuckle. The sound was gentle and delicate, but at the same time, it had a tone of wickedness and deceit. She was a tricky one, not to be trusted at all.
As he got up and turned, she gasped, sliding around on his head and nearly falling... It was a close call, but she was alright, grabbing a handful of hair and holding herself steady as he looked up into the trees. One hand was still holding her pipes, so she could only use her free one to hold onto his hair. ...And then she remembered that she could fly. What a silly little pixie, forgetting that she had wings. That just goes to show that even the best of us make mistakes sometimes.
It was easy for her to push off of his cranium, using her feet to propel herself away from him and into the air, her wings beating rapidly now - rapidly enough to be naught but a blur of shimmering silver to the human eye. Think of a hummingbird's wings, or a bumblebee's - you knew they were there, but when carrying their respective creature through the air, they were very indiscernable from whatever environment said creature may be in at the time. In fact, much like a hummingbird or a bumblebee, this pixie's wings moved so quickly that they gave off a faint humming sound, barely audible; but it was enough to put a gentle pressure on one's eardrums, such was the frequency of her wingbeats.
But yes! So she took off into the air with a simple push of her legs, releasing the hank of hair she'd been holding onto and tucking her pipes into the string about her waist with a tiny cackle. She hung around for a bit, but it'd be difficult to see much of her - all of her but her wings blended into the surroundings quite well.
kai_fox - May 25, 2006 04:45 PM (GMT)
Were his ears not somewhat desensitized and held down closer to his head, he probably would've noticed the pixie's soft chuckle. Unfortunately, those pipes had hurt his ears somewhat badly for now, and they probably wouldn't completely recover for at least an hour or so, provided something like that didn't happen again. When it did, though, he'd find whoever was doing it and stop it immediately...he could handle people attacking him physically, but he really didn't like others attacking his heightened, animal-level senses.
As he looked around for a short while longer, he stopped while facing a certain direction, sure that he'd caught something in his sight. Narrowing his eyes slightly so that he could focus more on his sight and away from his other senses, he could see a rapid hovering of wings in one area. Sighing to himself and scratching the back of his head a bit, thus lowering his sights from it, he could easily enough tell what it was at this point, even though he'd never actually seen any before. Pixies...pranksters all the way, from what he heard, which would probably easily enough explain the tree bark, the bugs, the pipes, and especially why he couldn't previously detect anything. At this point, he was sure that the pixie had noticed him looking straight at them, so he decided against possibly pretending he hadn't seen them. "Alright, you've been found out...though I wouldn't exactly have expected to find a pixie in such a damp place like this. I'd've figured the humidity would make it hard for those small wings," he said, looking back up to where he'd seen the pixie just earlier.
ChildofRoses - May 28, 2006 05:47 AM (GMT)
She probably would've done something a little more physical... But, sadly, that was a bit too difficult for her, seeing as she was... oh... about two inches tall and four and a half feet too short for an actual physical attack. Besides, attacking the senses was so much more fun! It usually got more reactions - better ones, too; and that was what the pranks were all about, for her. Getting some sort of reaction from the victim.
As he gazed in her direction, she made a face, wincing at her own stupidity. Why hadn't she just hidden?! Oh, right... She'd wanted to watch from a good view, and, since the man hadn't shown any signs of realizing there was a tiny being on his head before, she'd figured he was a bit oblivious. Apparently not. She frowned, drifting downwards at his words with a slight pout upon those exquisitely foreign features of hers, her lower lip puffed out a bit and her brows furrowed, darkening her countenance and giving it a sulky look.
At his words though, she immediately flared up. He'd unintentionally insulted her wings, which was a very big deal. Imagine someone insulting your looks, the way you talk, the size of your ears... something you were very sensitive about and protective of. It was that sort of a feeling. Her eyes narrowed shut and she darted in towards his face, the haunting, miniature beauty she usually was contorted into a dangerous, frightening expression of anger and warning. She was a fiesty one, alright.
"You think something like humidity would affect my wings? Think again, buster! Just because I have wings doesn't mean they're weak! Dragonflies thrive in damp conditions! Butterflies love heat!"
She was yelling at him at the top of her lungs, but it came out as more of a squeak; the sound wouldn't be too tough for him to deal with, even with his newly sensitized ears.
"Don't you ever assume anything about me, or I'll sock you one right in the kisser, buckorooney!"
At that, she shook a fist right between his eyes, scowling deeply while her wings, beating rapidly enough at this point to give off an angry buzzing, began to take on a green hue, changing from the silver they'd been before to a deep, glowing emerald green that changed her entire look - it made her appear somewhat like Tinkerbell, should you want an example.
kai_fox - May 28, 2006 02:52 PM (GMT)
Kai raised a brow slightly at the pixie as it came up in front of his face, apparently somewhat depressed. It wasn't that he'd want to spoil it's fun or anything, just...at his expense. After all, his senses were better than humans' senses, so attacking them was easier to an extent but more painful on him.
But then he blinked in surprise, noticing, seemingly at his words, the pixie immediately go from depressed to angry with no apparent stages in-between. Leaning back slightly as the tiny being of wrath came closer, he figured that maybe he shouldn't have used the word 'small'...he remembered that some beings were rather sensitive about that, though apparently that wasn't the issue. For some reason him having commented on the humidity probably making it somewhat harder for her wings had earned him her ire.
"You think something like humidity would affect my wings? Think again, buster! Just because I have wings doesn't mean they're weak! Dragonflies thrive in damp conditions! Butterflies love heat!" she said in a squeaky, but loud for her, voice. She certainly was...well, feisty would be a good word to describe it, especially for someone her size. "Don't you ever assume anything about me, or I'll sock you one right in the kisser, buckorooney!" she continued, shaking a fist between his eyes as her wings seemed to turn green.
"All right, all right, geez...it's not like I know much about pixies, I just figured the thickness of the water in the air around here might be slightly harder on those wings...it's not like I meant anything by it," he said. He could only hope that all pixies weren't like this if he ever met another one...
ChildofRoses - June 8, 2006 11:49 PM (GMT)
At his words, she paused, eyes narrowing faintly. He'd admitted that he was wrong... That meant a lot to her. Most people just assumed that they were right, and then when they weren't, they either pretended that they had never been incorrect, or that they just ignored her corrections and continued on with their falsities. "All right, all right, geez...it's not like I know much about pixies, I just figured the thickness of the water in the air around here might be slightly harder on those wings...it's not like I meant anything by it." The words didn't make her like him anymore, but rather, they just made her respect him a little bit. ..."A little bit" being the key phrase there.
"...Yeah, well, don't assume anything about things you don't know! When you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME!"
She grinned at that, moving a few inches farther back and letting the color of her wings fade from the previous hue of acidic green to a lighter, silvery tint of blue. As their pace slowed just a titch, relaxing, powder began to fall from her wings, and she grinned widely, beginning to spin in the air. That twirl sent the light silvery powder flying, creating a definite cloud of it in the air. In all actuality, the powder did nothing but look pretty, but the man didn't know that, now did he? The pixie dust, unless he moved in time, would probably land all over him, be inhaled, positively riddle his system with pixiness - if that happened, she'd fly in again and close the distance between her and his nose. In fact, she placed one foot against the bridge of his nose, wings still beating rapidly to hold her torso in the air between his eyes as she whispered to him, positively exuding trustworthiness.
"Now... I'm gonna make it up to you. I shouldn't have gotten upset... You see this pixie dust on you now? This stuff can make you fly, but you gotta think happy thoughts! You might have to flap your arms a little to pull yourself off the ground, but I swear on my mother's grave that it works!"
He didn't know that her mother wasn't dead, either. As soon as she'd finished giving him the instructions, she flitted off, giving him his space but remaining nearby, clearly visible as she lounged on a particularly large dandeloin blossom. What a sneaky little prankster, no?
kai_fox - June 11, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
"...Yeah, well, don't assume anything about things you don't know! When you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME!" the pixie retorted, grinning from what he could tell. Looking in some curiosity, he watched as her wings changed color for whatever reason, from green to a light, silvery blue. After they did so, they seemed to begin releasing some sort of powder, pixie dust it was called if he remembered correctly. Spinning around, the pixie made the dust spread around further, and he made sure to slow his breathing, not showing at all in his face that he'd done so.
"Now... I'm gonna make it up to you. I shouldn't have gotten upset... You see this pixie dust on you now? This stuff can make you fly, but you gotta think happy thoughts! You might have to flap your arms a little to pull yourself off the ground, but I swear on my mother's grave that it works!" she whispered to him, flying up and placing a foot on the bridge of his nose, using her wings to hold herself up. Swearing on her mother's grave? Well, he wasn't sure what that was about, nor was he completely convinced that such a thing even existed, but flying was a somewhat intriguing notion, he had to admit. He'd even done it a few times before, in his own way...but he certainly didn't trust pixie dust. As she flew back away, one of his hands seemed to ignite lightly in a red flame, and he brought it up to his face, sliding it apparently harmlessly down it and seeming to dust it off from the pixie dust, which would easily enough be gotten rid of. When it was apparently gone, he returned his hand to his side, and the fire on it died down.
"Well, that sounds fun and all, but I have my own particular way of flying from time to time, and I usually try not to inhale any sort of powder...never know what exactly it might do," he said, but still in a fairly pleasant tone. She may've been a prankster, but it wasn't like she was evil or anything, he was sure. It was just how she liked being, so that couldn't rightfully be held against her.
