The mage sat by on the sandy edge of the lake watching its rolling waves crash against the shore. He was dress in his normal flowing robes covering his elfish features. Against his shoulder rested his staff with its glowing green gem. From his belt hung his mystical vine whip forged by magic.

He sat waiting for the fair Lady Emma to arrive. She was only a little late, but Morris was already longing so see her. It had been months since he had seen her sweet face. Many months spent traveling across the land without any reassurance that there was anyone in the world that cared for the poor half-breed.

He had grown fond of their long talks discussing their lives as half-elves. It was nice to have someone who understood what he went through day after day, someone who had been looked down on her entire life. It was not everyday that he met one of his kind.

The fair maiden rode down the shore of the beach. She sat upon her beautiful steed Frost. The sun was fading in the fast behind her as she urged the horse forward. She knew she was late, and she did not want to have to traverse these strange lands in the dark.

“Faster,” she whispered in his horse’s ear. She did not know what lurked in the forest lying around the forest, but she did not want to find out. She had her bow with her, but she would rather no have to use it, seeing as she wasn’t the best shot.

She finally slowed down seeing the mage sitting on the shore of the lake. “Hi there,” she called out over her horses huffing. She dismounted from her horse and took the walked the last little bit of land between them. It had been to long since they had last seen each other.

“How sweet,” the cruel angel said with a chuckle. He watched the couple greet each other with their affectionate hugs. The mere thought of their happiness made him angry. Happiness had been stolen from him, and ever since he had made it his mission to make sure no one else could have it.

He glided down from his perch landing only a few yards away for the couple. “Greetings,” he said announcing himself. “Isn’t it nice to see love blossoming in the world? You know you should be careful in these parts; you never know what could be lurking in these woods.”

His hate for them grew as he looked into their eyes. He wanted what they had, but he could never accept that he could achieve it. He had a twisted view of time and fate. He was sure they were out to get him by cutting off his friend’s life early. He would never forget his friends face, as he lay there dead, slaughtered by people who claimed to live lives of good.

If he could not have happiness then he would make sure no one else could. He focused his anger into one thought. He stared into the eyes of the man dressed in flowing robes. “Kill her,” he said transferring his anger in a berserk form.

After his enchantment was sent he quickly rose to the air to watch the struggle that would ensue. He did want to get in the mage’s way when he went on the rampage he was doomed to take. Who knows what kind a power a magician held.

The mage smiled as he looked upon his good friend coming toward him. They embraced each other in a warm hug. Morris did not want to break their contact. “It has been a while Miss Emma,” he said during the embrace. He released her through his strong desires not to. She was beautiful even in this light. Her grace was amazing.

He turned startled as something large landed on the ground behind him. He turned to see an angel standing in front of him. He was a little confused as to what an angel was doing here, but he knew they were good creatures so he pushed his thoughts away and listened to creature.

He was caught completely off guard when the creature’s mood suddenly changed. He was not prepared to ward off attacks from such a holy creature. His could feel his wind splitting apart in pain as yet another chaotic force entered his head.

He was trapped watching what happened next. None of his mind had any control over what happened next. The tried with all their might to stop it, but the force was too strong for them to combat. They were merely pushed aside as the force took control of the body.

He quickly turned to the maiden who had no clue what was happening inside his head. He raised his hand mere inches in front over her saying his cursed words. Every single one of the runes tattooed on his body glowed with a bright light piercing the darkness around them. Pain seared through the mage’s body as all three mind cried out in unison, “No!”

The maiden watched the beautiful creature as he made his speech admiring the two half-elves. She had always loved the paintings of his magnificent race; she had never thought she would actually get a chance to meet one. She stood in awe of his mighty wings.

Suddenly the mighty winged man took flight leaving just as abruptly as he had appeared. She turned to Morris to voice her awe of the creature. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped as she felt something cold shoot through her body.

She looked down to see the mages hand trembling. Light faded from his palm. She looked up to him in shock. It had been him who had sent the shard of ice through her body. She coughed out the word, “Why?”

She fell to the ground in pain. Blood flew across he chest from the open wound. She had no clue what had just happened. Everything was so random, an angel then that. The only truth she knew was that the life was flowing from her body. She knew she was moments from passing.

The angel roared with laughter as he watched the mage strike the maiden down with a spike of ice. He inhaled the smell of blood with deep joy. He was like a shark feasting on the blood of the dying. In his glee he let the mage break free of his curse, but he did not fret. His job was finished.

The angel flew back down to the soil. “Well done,” he said laughing at the mage’s pain. “Don’t tell me that wasn’t a thrill. Can you not feel the rush as the life leaves the body? Come on. You know you enjoyed that; do not feel angry with me.

“Now I will relieve you of you pain,” he continued drawing his sword. He lifted the monsterous blade over his ready to finish the job by sending the second lover to the grave. “Good bye,” he said with a snarl.

The pain felt by the three in unison broke the curse that was causing this. The mage fell to the Emma’s side. The three runes continued to glow in his pain. He held his hand over the maiden’s wound as the coughed for air. Tears fell from his eyes as he watched her lie there in pain.

The angel had enough courage to actually return to the ground. Morris gripped his staff as he listened to what the beast had to say. He used the time that the angel rambled on to gather his senses. He would destroy the monster; he would have vengeance.

He quickly turned around as the angel held his sword over his head. All three voices and one new one spoke through the lips at the same time sending the spells flying from the mage’s staff: a fireball, shard of ice, and earthquake.

Lady Emma - April 21, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
Emma could feel her soul lift from the body. The pain was gone from her senses as she looked down at her lifeless body. She did not understand what was happening here. She knew she was dead, but she did not know what she was supposed to do now.

She tried to flow back through he body in some attempt to save herself from the grave, but her attempts were useless. She looked at the crying mage with anger. “You betrayed me,” she screamed to no use. He could neither see her nor hear her.

The angel returned to the ground as he started talking to the creature. “Well done,” he said. These words cut Emma worse than any mortal thing could. “An angel plotted to kill me,” she thought, “how can this be? What has he done to Morris to cause him to do this.” She could not stay and hear this. She fled the field in a deep emotional pain. The one she trusted the most had killed her. An angel had wanted her dead. She had to get home. Everything would okay there. It had to be a dream. She was probably asleep in her bed.

“Aaaah,” the angel screamed in pain he felt the mage’s wrath. He fell to the ground in pain. He had not expected such resistance from the man. His spells had done their damage. His skin scorched from the fireball. His side was spilling blood from the ice shard. His legs were broken from the earthquake.

He looked up to see the fury and hatred of the angel. Fear, something Vrobleski had lived his entire life without, was now gripping his heart. He knew he was defeated here. There was nothing he could do. The mage had him cornered. He had to flee.

His feet were broken so he could not use them. He raised his wings taking flight. Every beat from his feather wings sent a sharp pain through his body. He bit his lipped and pushed past the pain taking to the air.
