It was sunset, the sun casting rays of orange. Slowly, the city lights were flickering on, creating a gentle, soft, yellow glow against the ball of fire. Music of a far-off party drifted to the ears of a large man as he walked home, carrying the dangling knife of a whittler and a bag. The penknife, along with a bag of clay, bounced against the dagger that rested at the man's hip. Passing locals gave him a wave or a little yell. In return, Corucent gave a wave back. The burly man was very tired after working the shop. He barely knew where he was going, but his feet memorized the path home. A boy ran into him, knocking over the bag of clay and falling himself. He apologized quickly before returning the spilled terra cotta to him. They continued on the way. The sun had dipped over the horizon and it was darker than ever. A bit worried, Corucent started running back to his little home that faced the Square.
A glint of light caught his eye. The man turned to a darkened alley. The thing flashed again. Looking around he started towards it. Suddenly, a shadow-like wolf jumped out, causing Corucent stumble back. It howled once before advancing on the shivering figure. The wolf disappeared into a swirling mass. A slash of fire whipped across his leg and Corucent yelped. "What the..." he looked down at his leg. Blood oozed out of a large cut. What was more interesting was that the skin at the edge of his wound seemed...
charred.
He looked up at a growl. Seven more of those wolf-like shadows circled around him. He fumbled at his side, but the yellow eyes of the anorexic figures seemed to paralyze him. He coward on the street, defenceless.
It had taken her some time to track the creatures. They where faster then she had first thought, taking her from the safety of the grasslands to the crowded population of Lomedor. In fact... she had doubted they had even come this way, since there seemed to be no commotion in the streets, the high buildings and crowded streets a signal that they where not near. In fact... Stella had been walking for over an hour, and still no sign of the Shadowy creatures. The sun had set and darkness had finally settled. The streets where silent, the moonlight a shining down like a spotlight. People jostles past her, and Stella in turn ignored them, uninterested in the people of this time for once.
A movement to her right cough her attention, as Stella watched the creatures skulk through the night. Shadow Wolves, creatures dedicated the the confinements of night, their chaotic nature and reckless disregard for safety had been what had alerted her in the first place, as they foolishly attacked her as she made her way through the Grasslands. At last, she had made her way out of the Grasslands, after days upon days of walking, and tracked them to this bustling town. She was getting close... Breaking into a run, Stella began to run through the streets, the sound of her feet on the hard cobblestones a silent whisper, her lithe form a golden streak through the moonlight.
Running through the streets, she watched as the people began to return to their homes for the night, the safest option in any case. For Stella... her search was still ongoing, even in the shadows of night. In an alley she at last had them cornered, but there where not alone. A man was on the floor, and appeared to be bleeding. He was yet another Victim of their cruel actions. With a hiss, the creature turned from their target to face her, gleaming red eyes glowing through their Shadowy forms as the light from her glow pained them. There was no time to admire them, however evil they where. Action had to be taken - and fast. Raising her wand, Stella couldn't help but grin. She had them, after all this chasing, and stuck in this dead end alleyway, they could not escape her. The wand began to tremble as she summoned her magic powers, her finger tips tingling under the serge of sudden Power in one concentrated area. "SOLAR WIND!" Her voice echoed from wall to wall, dull, hollow. The wand's tip began to glow as her energy was drawn into the attack. It was time to end this.
Soon, the wand glowed white with searing hot heat as the fires where at last released. The wind shot through the air towards the Wolves, and under its molten touch they disintegrated, vanished under the heat and light. Satisfied, Stella drew the wind back in as the attack at last haltered, her breathe heavy under the strain to do so. She had done it! Glancing up, Stella noticed the Man still on the ground, and made her way over, wobbling slightly as her mind still felt some what hazy. His leg was injured, hence the blood. The skin around the wound was blackened with the heat of their attack, the smell of charred flesh still strong in the air. Wrinkling her nose, Stella indicated to his wound, her breathe still coming out in ragged gasps. "You.. want me to heal that?" She asked, still breathless. She couldn't full heal it, but she could, at least, seal it over.
Corucent looked up as he heard feet on the cobblestone path closer to the alley of which he sat at the mouth of. Now his blood was running all over the place, creating a large red pool that soaked his pants. Not paying attention, he stood up. "Get out of here!" he yelled at whoever was coming closer. "There is something wrong here!" The person did not listen, for the pounding continued. The shadow wolves were now facing the new visitor, eyes flashing out like cardinals against a flock of ravens. They gave out a hissing sound like a cat's, or maybe a lion's, but they were none less wolves. What was the person thinking? The large man decided to try once more. "TURN BACK!" he yelled at the top of his lungs.
A figure shot into view. The source of the pounding noise came from a young teenage girl with the most brilliant color hair he had ever seen. Her shining blue eyes were sharp and focused and she held a beautifully crafted wand in her hand. She was smiling like a madman and running full speed at the wolves. Corucent tried to drag himself to stop her, but came crashing down hard on his left leg. He slipped backwards in his own bloody pool. He got up and ran again at the perfect time to see a spectacular sight unfold in front of him.
The girl was raising her wand high above her head. "SOLAR WIND!" she called out into the night. The man watched in awe as a warm air circulated above the girls head and came blasting at the wolves. The wolves melted before his eyes, one disengaging to a musty film as he was flying through the air. Unfortunately, he managed to catch a warm after-drift of the wind and it sent him slipping, sliding, and tumbling back into the pool-turned-streak of blood. It sent him roughly to his butt. The girl came to him in a concern and weary state. "You.. want me to heal that?" she said in a gasping state. Corucent managed to smile at the girl. "No. This cut is similar to the ones I have in the forge accidents, though I don't know if it's infected with some magical substance from the wolf."
He let that settle on their shoulders before saying, "May I ask the person who saved me their name? Mine's is Corucent, but please call me Blazer. I would like to help you with whatever you need here."
