Title: Sunset Swimming

The day was warm and pleasant, with an equally warm breeze floating through the trees. Of course, that was in the shade. In the sun by the side of the lake, the temperature rose to almost 80 degrees, and the warm breeze wasn't very helpful at that point. The sun beat down on the shore, heating the rocks and sand until heat shimmer could be seen rising off of some of them, although not close up. Thankfully, clouds filled the western sky far off, promising at least some rain later on that evening.
There was only one humanoid figure visible at the side of the lake, although there were a few animals visible not so very far off. That human was sitting by what looked like the beginnings of a small camp, perched upon a rock with a stick and some string in hand. Next to him, a small silver fish flopped, gasping in its last attempts to pull water through its gills. Really, Rosten hadn't planned on catching a lot of fish. He only needed one or two medium-sized ones for a good meal, and he'd just eat some leftover jerky in the morning anyway. Still, that tiny thing he'd caught before was too small for him to eat. At this point he was just waiting for it to die so that he could use it as bait for an even bigger fish.
The dark-haired man sighed, leaning back a little bit against the rock and holding the fishing rod between his knees for a moment while he stripped off his leather jacket. It was far too hot right now to be wearing that, and he didn't need it here anyway. His sword had already been left leaning against the side of the boulder, within easy reach but not actually putting extra weight on his belt. All his other possessions were lying underneath the lean-to he had constructed upon first arriving here. He had the beginnings of a firepit ready as well, waiting for his meal to arrive... If it ever did.
Suddenly, there was a tug on the line, and the fishing rod was nearly jerked out from between Rosten's knees. He started, grabbing onto the rod, and tugged gently, testing it out. The tugging continued, until suddenly it became frantic - he'd caught something. Now to get it into shore... Slowly, Rosten pulled the line in, letting the fish tire itself out before he began to move quickly. It took about seven minutes, but eventually he had a fairly large trout in his hands, which he quickly bashed against the rock so that it wouldn't flop back into the water. Really, he didn't like fishing much, but it provided some delicious food.
Rosten pulled the rod in fully, throwing away the almost destroyed wooden fishhook he'd fashioned. That one fish, along with the little one for a breakfast snack, would feed him for the night. He quickly set about building a fire and cutting up the fish. He put a flat rock on the fire to cook on, and from there... Well, he just had to wait until it was heated through. What did that mean? Swimming time.
Rosten walked towards a spot where the land met with water deep enough to swim on, pulling off the remainder of his clothing as he went. This he left by the edge in a pile (along with his sword, of course). Taking a deep breath, he jumped into the water, landing with a fair-sized splash. He pushed off the bottom and made the surface again, shivering slightly in the icy-cold lake. Okay, so it was a lot colder than he thought... No big deal. Looking around, Rosten quickly decided that he'd make a lap to the nearest island and back, then finish cooking. He struck out against the rock he'd jumped off of, swimming steadily for the island.

Resting in the trees. Not moving anything but one leg. Just a natural refelx for when sitting still. Just lying down with eyes closed. Breathing steady, nose picking up the smell of spring flowers in the trees. Hearing splashes and the wind from the lake. It was a warm day. But it could be hotter, much hotter easily. For some people this would be considered boiling hot, for others it could be seen as perfect, and the rare few who think it is still cold out. But something more then nature was going on near the lake. That was perfectly normal. People came by all the time to swim or fish. Something was always going on around here. But even through. This caused the fairy to open one of his eyes and look. He was just naturally curious. But what he saw was what he just expected. Someone was fishing. A Human, nothing out of wack here. But he still watched. He even sat up to watch. What he was thinking was not of going back to resting but maybe a prank to play on this Human. That would be purely entertaining. Not like he was doing anything else besides sleeping right now. He should really wait for the right moment.
After a while, Midori saw his chance. The man left his clothes and weapons at swore. Perfect, just simply perfect for starting off. Waiting a few minutes as the man went furthering into the Lake. Midori flew down from his perch on his tree. He would start with the sword. Weapons were built light. Moving some of the clothes out of the way he dragged the sword out of it's sheath. It was light enough. Flying back up and still holding onto the sword he held the handle up and dragged it away from the Lake and near the trees and behind one. It would be simple enough to find it. It did leave a trail in the grass.
Moving back over to where the clothes were, he would leave those alone. He looked at the sheath and rolled it over to near the lake and kicked it in. Hopefully he didn't do something to drastic. He flew back up into the tree and hide amoung the leaves. Hopefully the Human haven't seen him. But he watched the whole area keeping an eye on all movement. This was going to be an interesting day.

It took about ten minutes to reach the island, and Rosten had to get out and rest when he got there. The sun was still warm, but it would be going down in about an hour. More than enough time to get done with everything he needed to do before the light went away. He wouldn't sleep too well tonight, but at least he'd have a full stomach for once. Money had been a little tight lately, and so had, by extension, the frequency of tavern visits. Rosten was severely missing his ale at this point...
He pulled himself up onto a rock and shook his head vigorously, pushing his hair back over his ears and wiping a hand over his face to get the water out of his eyes. He frowned a little as his hand passed over his jaw. He needed a shave... Normally he kept a line of hair along the lower edge of his jaw around his chin, but it was hardly visible now thanks to the dark stubble covering most of his face.
He sighed, looking across the lake at his little campfire. It wasn't burning brightly, but that didn't matter. All it had to do for now was heat up the rock so that he could cook his food. He yawned slightly, shaking his head again as he felt water dripping down his back. He should probably go back, now that he wasn't out of breath any longer... After all, he didn't want that rock to explode from the heat or anything. With a slight grunt, he got to his feet and stepped to the edge of the rock, diving in and striking out for the other shore.
It took him about six minutes to get across this time, mostly because he was trying to test himself and swim at top speed the whole way. It was good training, after all. He arrived at the other side breathing hard and tired, but was pleased with the speed he'd gone this time around. He got out and shook his wet hair out of his face, wiping the water out of his face before looking around for his clothes. They were right where he left them, but... "Where the hell's my sword?" he muttered, walking over to the pile of clothes and kicking them around a little bit, as though his sword might be somewhere underneath.
It didn't take long for him to notice the trail in the grass, and he followed it into the bushes, where he found his sword... But no sheath. He furrowed his brow at that, and hacked away at the bushes a little bit, looking for the leather holder and belt. It was no where around, however, and so he went back to his clothes, picking up his pants and putting them back on as he looked around. He didn't notice the glimmer in the water until he had already put his shirt back on, and groaned. "Really...?" he muttered, sighing as he stripped off his clothes again and jumped back into the water. He had to grope around a little, but it didn't take long to grab it and tow it out of the water.
"Augh... This is going to warp..." he muttered, tossing the leather scabbard aside as he shook off a little and grabbed his clothing again. This time he only put his pants on, stalking back to the fire and dumping his things nearby. He left his sword sheath a ways away, hoping that if he didn't dry it out again too fast the leather wouldn't crack and warp. He'd hate to buy another one...

The Human sure took a while waiting on the island. But came back much more quickly then he had left. The fairy had patience. Plenty of it to wait without yelling out or something. He kept himself busy thinking of what to do next. He looked at the fish, he should have taken that too. That would have been very good. Why didn't he? Must have slipped his mind or something. That would have been very funny to see also. The reaction he would have gotten from that. Maybe also throw the clothes in the water too. Maybe in the fire. Leaving a man with no clothes would be just plan mean. Midori really thought about that.
The man had come back to shore by now. He was already upset about his sword being missing. Midori was laughing a bit but not loud enough for the Human to hear. He found it after a while. Only takes an idoit to find that. But then he would have to find the sheath. That took him a bit longer. But he had already gotten dressed and had to get undressed again. Midori just giggled at his misfortune. Pranks were always a good pass time.
Once the man sat down by the fire he didn't put his shirt back on. This gave the fairy a chance. He waited a minute and teleported down behind the man. He quickly grabbed the shirt and went to pull it back and toss it into the water. He would then go and teleport back into the tree hoping to be unnoticed. This was probably not gonna end well, but for who?

Rosten sighed as he dumped his things in a pile on the ground. The night was going to get cooler as the sun dipped below the horizon, but it was better to be a little chilly now rather than putting on wet clothes and catching a chill in the middle of the night because they wouldn't dry. He shook his head hard, his wet hair whipping back and forth and sending splatters of water everywhere, and tried to wipe a little of the water off his arms and torso with his hands, flicking it off in various directions. Hopefully that would help him dry off faster, and maybe even keep just a little bit warmer if there wasn't too much water on him. As for the scabbard... He picked it up and laid it inside the crude lean-to, letting it rest on a couple of conveniently placed branches so that it was actually held up on the "wall" rather than on the cold ground.
With that done, Rosten turned back to the fire. He walked over, avoiding a couple of sharp-looking rocks in his bare feet, and sat down on the ground with a grunt, folding his legs under him comfortably as he stared at the flames. After a minute or two, he rung out his hair again and flicked some of the water at the flat stone he'd put in the fire. When the water that landed on it sizzled and evaporated on contact, he knew he could put the fish on. Taking the slices of fish in hand, he tossed a couple on top of the stone and watched them sizzle, throwing up smoke into the sky that smelled absolutely delicious. Rosten hadn't eaten much in the last couple of days - just jerky and other trail rations he'd brought with him - so this meal would technically be his first since he'd left the city four days ago.
The fish was cooking well, and Rosten's chest was dry thanks to the warm fire. His back was covered in goose-bumps, however, so he started to turn around and put his back to the fire, hoping that maybe his hair would dry out a little as well. However, as he turned around, he saw something dart out behind him in the corner of his vision. He turned quickly, just in time to see his shirt flutter into the water at the edge of the lake and to see a little flicker of light vanish. "What the hell?" he said, jumping to his feet and walking toward the water's edge, looking around for whatever had done that as he went. There was no wind, so that wasn't even a factor, and there certainly hadn't been anyone here. He would have known about them by now, he was sure.
Rosten grabbed one of the sticks he'd gathered as firewood and reached into the water with it, pulling out his soaking-wet shirt and wringing it out as he tossed the stick back where it had been before. He held his shirt in one hand as he approached his little camp again, looking around cautiously. "Alright, knock it off." he said loudly, obviously annoyed. "Whoever's hiding out there, get out here where I can see you." He didn't actually have any desire to attack whomever it was. He might gripe at them a little for potentially ruining his scabbard and getting his shirt wet, but he wasn't enough of a jackass to want to kill or hurt them for it. Hell, he could use the company. Maybe he'd even offer some dinner (even though it would mean another morning of rations for him).

Had he done it? Yes, he thought so. The Human was still confused and had no clue of what was going on. Shouldn't he though, it was obvious something was screwing around with his stuff. He just hadn't a clue as to what was doing it. He seemed to be sure it was a person or creature that understood the common tongue, atleast it looked like he was hoping for that.
Midori just waited for a moment. Maybe he should come out now. The Human would be keeping his eye out and he wouldn't be getting far anymore with the jokes. Before he could think about it anymore Maedhros the Pixie came up behind him. He jumped a bit at first but it took only a moment to turn and see him.
Lle holma ve' edan Maedhros said not meaning to use it as an insult. He looked out over where Midori was just looking. The reason was not really coming to him but it didn't matter. Mani marte? he asked curious but already getting half of it.
Midori didn't answer but instead grabbed Maedhros arm and just pulled him along. He was going over to see what the Human would say to all of the troubles he just caused. Once close enough to be seen and heard but still out of any attack range the man could pull of, he spoke up. That all you have to say to bring me out?
With that said he wondered if the man was pissed off at him enough to attack. That was obviously not going to work out well for him if he did. But who knows, he could just leave or stay. It all depended on this man's actions. He changed his face to no emotions but then changed it quickly to a small friendly grin that couldn't be noticed that easily.
