While the current system for gaining wealth is highly unique and effective, one flaw I notice with it is the lack of an increased rate or Rewards system. I'm well aware of how IF Boards work, so sadly, there is no way to, for example, give Advanced Roleplayer's 10G per post instead of 5G.
However, what COULD be done would be to create a system involving specific topics that are "Money Making topics", such as committing a crime or doing a job, and so on. Each post in such a topic would be worth an additional 5G, kept track of in a counter at the bottom of each post. At the conclusion of such a topic, making note of it's conclusion, the amount of extra gold, and of course, providing a link to the topic in either a forum created for the purpose of doing so, or just the buying/selling/etc. forum.
I realize this may be a bit hard to understand, do to my slightly jumpy train of thought. So I'll provide several possible examples:
| QUOTE ( Example 1: Crimes) |
In this Example, an evil-aligned character is trying to steal money, kidnap an individual, or some other dastardly deed. Now, obviously, any good-aligned characters in the area would be inclined to stop such a thing, and so, a battle would ensue. If the Evil character wins the fight, the bonus money from the act of commiting a crime would go to him. If the Good-aligned character wins, the bonus "reward" money for protecting the people/property/etc. would go to them. Obviously, it'd be a real HASSLE for the staff to have to do this so often with everyone, so being able to make a topic like this only every so often would be a requiset. It's up to the staff, if they choose to implement this system, but I recommend only once every 10 days.
If the evil-aligned character is NOT stopped, I should note, logically they would get away with the deed, and so a set number of G, I propose a straight 100 G, or 20 posts, which is a logical length for what a somewhat longer battle would be. |
| QUOTE ( Example 2: Jobs) |
| In this Example, any not obviously-evil character (No Demons or such, obviously, who would employ them?) is given a task by a staff member. This task is performed by the member over the course of the topic, and logically, harder jobs will be more rewarding as they will take longer. In fact, some jobs may have multiple characters participating at once. The staff themselves will be required to create a topic (Drawing attention to it if they wish by stating it as a job topic in the title, such as "Construction[Job topic]") in a logical area, and state how many characters are allowed to join, as well as what the job will actually be, and of course, any specific criteria (A job requiring the theft of an object, for example, would be off-limits to good-aligned characters). As the member does the job, they keep track of how many posts they have accumulated. Multiply that number by ten, and that's the amount of G they recieve at the end of the topic. |
And so on. Obviously, this would require varying degrees of work from the staff themselves.
I dunno. I think it's good how scarce money is here because it definitely makes thing realistic, though I do agree that there should be some system that rewards people for higher quality posts. Tragically, it's tough to do without a ton of admin work on invisionfree so I am happy with the way things are now.
I agree that the current rate at which people earn gold is enough. If you want more gold then you need to RP more. I also can't forsee any sort of easily-managed system for giving extra gold, nor do I think we need one.
