"I swear to the gods that I am going to kill them when I find " Elexis was muttering to herself as she walked along the path. It was the middle of the day, and the shade from the trees provided little comfort from the hot dry weather. Even with the sweltering heat she kept her hood up, she almost never put it down when she was walking around. People had a tenancy to feel uncomfortable around due to her pale blue skin and the spines on her face. Plus Elexis had another reason for making sure that no one knew who she was. Elexis had over 2000 gold on her head, dead or alive. She saw the poster the other day, it had a vague description of her when she was in her mortal form. So as long as she was in her half demon form no one should give her trouble unless someone knew her name. But it always helped to keep on the move just to help to shake off any bounty hunters tracking her down.
She didn't even know why the trade caravan deserted her in the middle o f the forest. She had cursed and swore at the top of her lungs (and thats saying something!) but he didn't even look back. She stood there for awile, hoping that he would turn back, but Elexis had quickly come to the conclusion that he wasn't going to turn back and decided to get walking. She had been walking for several hours now and there was no sight of Estolad. At least she was thankful that there were no forks in the road so far. But she didn't have any supplies and hoped that she could reach an inn before sunset.
Elexis could feel some approaching by the emotions that started to tingle off her skin. But before she could do anything a crossbow bolt flew through the air and grazed her leg, drawling blood. A hooded human emerged from the bushes, reloading his crossbow as he spoke in a firm voice, "We know who you are Elexis, surrender or I'll shoot again." Elexis looked around to see three others with the same leather armor and hoods emerge from the underbrush, she was clearly outnumbered, and they already has their longbows aimed at her. She spoke in an innocent voice, "I don't know who you;re talking about, I'm just a simple..." She was cut off by the ranger, "We both know thats bull crap, we knew that you were going to be on that caravan, and 30 gold coins ensured that you were off of it by the time you reached us."
Elexis let out a sigh and simply grabbed the fighting knife that she had at her belt by the blade and placed it on the ground, then put her hands up. The ranger lowered his crossbow, a confident smile on his face, "Smart girl" He walked closer to her. What the bounty hunter didn't know is that she almost always kept one of her fighting knives on her belt, her other two were always in her sleeves, ready for her to pull out at almost any time. The ranger tried to grab her arm to restrain her. But instead she used her leg to get him off balance and twisted his arm, spining him 180 degrees and wrapped her arm around his neck, knife already in her hand ready to slit the man's throat. The other rangers tensed their grip on their bows, their leader struggling in Elexis'es choke hold. They lowered their bows seeing the futility of the situation and reached for their melee weapons. Elexis felt her hostage reach for his blade, but before he could get it out of the scabbard she brought her blade into his heart. His struggling went limp and she dropped the body. She held both of her knives in her hand, one of them reverse for counterattacking foes. The odds were against her but she had to fight, if she were to run she could just be shot in the back. Elexis was out of options, and only could rely on fighting head on, but she never liked fighting fair...
