Title: Hunt at dusk (private)

Yamita - April 10, 2008 12:41 AM (GMT)
The Salquedor grasslands weren't particularly hard to cross, trees and bushes so far apart they didn't qualify has obstructions. Though there was no path to speak of, the grass had been worn by footprints and wagon wheels, so they kept to it.

"Hmm...nationality? My herd lives in Alutanta Falls if that's what you mean. My name's Rayer. Yours? Where do you live?"

It was dusk when they reached Taurai Woods. Rayer armed his ornate bow and peered into the trees. They still had a good amount of light, enough to hunt with anyway. "Wild boars live here...awful pigs, red with black spikes and tusks. Keep on your toes."

Jellian - April 10, 2008 12:31 PM (GMT)
"Names Jellian, John Jellian, and my nationality is of no importance, I am only a drifter," Jellian didn't want to reveal himself just yet. He may have been relatively a nobody, but he still had a price on his head for treachery. And every man can be bought out for a price. Jellian was not sure of Rayers visual skills, but in the distance, A boar walked from behind a tree, big beast with huge tusks.

Boars are strange, habitually they will be with packs, or alone, and are therefore unpredictable. If we had shot at this one, it could be an easy kill, and meal. Or death from raging boars. Jellian motioned to Rayer, pointing out the boar, and then leaving Rayers instincts to do the rest...

Yamita - April 10, 2008 04:06 PM (GMT)
"Drifter eh...ah!"

Rayer didn't quite have enough time to fire any arrows, so he turned and sharply kicked at the boar's tusks with aluminum horseshoes. It squealed angrily, tossed its head, bloody tusk nearly jarred off. Rayer jumped back for a clearer shot, motioning for Jellian to take its flank. "Bloody hell, one already..." Two arrows were strung and shot simultaneously, one grazing the beast's side, the other piercing its leg.

Jellian - April 10, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
Jellian wasted no time, before the beast could flail, he pulled his sword from it's hilt, and then slammed it down through the throat of the beast, and then ripped it out. The beasts tusk grazed his leg, and blood spurred out of Jellian into the chaos.

The pig may have been dead, but the battle was only beginning, it squealed what it could and flailed around as it died. It made a decent charge in a zigzag pattern toward Rayer.

Jellian fell to the ground, in pain from his leg, and hoped that Rayer could handle the dieing pigs final stand.

Yamita - April 10, 2008 09:38 PM (GMT)
Rayer leapt over a fallen oak as the beast charged, aimed another arrow and shot out its eye. It stumbled half blind into the oak, going limp as blood filled its lungs. A few moments of gurgled panting and it lay dead in the grass. One hell of a meal.

The centaur jumped back over the oak and knelt next to Jellian, "Are you alright? I have a minor heal spell but I'm not sure how much good it'll do." An ear swiveled around uneasily, he hoped the boar's pack wasn't around, all that squealing didn't put them in a good position.

Jellian - April 10, 2008 11:58 PM (GMT)
"I think I'll be fine," Jellian lied, his leg told the opposite story, small wounds can be fairly formidible, blood rolled from the cut like a fountain. Jellians body was warming up, the blood rushed to his head to keep from leaving through the leg. "Ma-be n-t" Jellian slurred, "I co--d b- a fe- mi-ute- --fore I c-n mo-e a-ain..." his face was sweltering red.

To make things any worse, Two more boars came around the edge in a rush from the cry of it's fallen friend. Both smaller, but still formidible, one charged Rayer, the other stood back and waited.

Yamita - April 11, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
((OOC: Psst, Rayer not Yamita :p))

Regardless, Rayer attempted to heal the paladin but didn't get very far; he didn't notice the two boars until one rammed his side, making him stagger. He'd have a hard time fending off two beasts by himself, he wasn't exactly a warrior, but at least they were smaller. "Damn it all," he murmured, stringing arrows as quickly as he could and letting them fly. One pierced a boar in the flank, it fled into the bushes. The other managed to gore a hind leg before being kicked away.

Things were silent for a moment. Rayer still stood, bow still aimed at the bushes. Panting, he cautiously lowered his bow. "..."

Jellian - April 11, 2008 01:52 PM (GMT)
(OOC: I didn't make any mistake on that lol... *praises edit button* anyway, I made an announcment in the absences forum, you can find it, so don't be surprised when I go away a bit.)

Jellians leg at least stopped bleeding, His former profession as a strategist was giving him the odd hint, 'it's not over yet...' Jellian Pulled out his sword, "Face it, I can't fight like this, but you are still formidible, Take it" he handed his sword over to Rayer.

Jellian looked around, he couldn't fight, but he could still bark orders like a madman. "I am a strategist, even if you don't know how to use the sword, I can still lead you in the right direction." at that moment, both boars charged Rayers flanks, "Move! then focus on one!" Jellian didn't want to draw the boars attention, but he yelled anyways.

Yamita - April 11, 2008 03:54 PM (GMT)
((OOC: Yeah I saw, good luck with everything))

Rayer caught the sword, albeit clumsily, "I'm no swordsman!" Despite his hesitation he still heeded Jellian's orders, swinging at the snout of one of the boars before getting gored in the flank again. He kicked wildly, managing to hit the other a couple of times before blood spattered its face. It shrieked and ran towards Jellian, giving Rayer enough time to focus on the remaining boar, slashing at its throat.

Jellian - April 11, 2008 05:05 PM (GMT)
Jellian held his hand out, the boar was charging for the kill, but Jellian would not fold so easily. He grabbed the tusks of the charging bull, and as he did, he felt the muscles in his hand ached with the pain of unnecasary force that was put on them. The Boar kept running, but going nowhere, and hurting Jellian in the process.

"Yaaaghhh. Kill this thing!" Jellian screamed fallowed by a sharp moan, the Boar was pushing closer to Jellian, slowly, painfully.

Yamita - April 11, 2008 09:58 PM (GMT)
Rayer whirled at the scream, darted over and trampled the remaining hog to death, but not without being scraped by one of its many black spines. "Perhaps we should move, we seem to be attracting more," Rayer panted, attempting to help Jellian stand. "This is more than enough food. I hadn't expected a pack to be this close to the outskirts. Can you walk?"

Jellian - April 12, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
"I can't carry these pigs..." Jellian said, but he stood up and limped around, "But I can walk..." his leg ached with pain, and his arms felt a buzz of achey tension and resistence. "I know this is going to hurt more tomarrow then today..."

He walked around a few moments, and then seemed to lose his limp, he jumped foolishly, and landed... without falling to the ground. An accomplishment, assumedly. He held out his hand, "My sword please?"

Yamita - April 12, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
Rayer handed back the blade, "I've got 'em, why don't you go find yourself a stick." With that he stooped to pick up the boars, stacking all three on his back, then headed back towards the outskirts. The sooner they got to the wide grasslands the better. By now it was twilight, so Rayer watched his step, moving slowly, making sure the paladin was following closely.

"Oughta' last us a good while, this catch," he murmured, ignoring the pangs in his side.

Jellian - April 12, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
Jellian was being stubborn, unwilling to listen to Rayers advice, he walked beside the centaur the entire way. His sword glistened in the twilight, he never sheathed it, but at the same time, he did not keep it up. The sword hanging by his side, cool and calm, he felt as if he were free of the world troubles.

Then his stomach growled. Loudest yet, he had not eaten since the night prior, and he felt like a homeless man. Truely, living on the run was no easy task. Jellian had never been like this, all his life, food was catered to him by the military, and he never had to worry about it.

Yamita - April 13, 2008 05:55 AM (GMT)
Rayer only shrugged inwardly; he was a warrior after all, he's probably been in worser scrapes. The centaur tried to stay away from most skirmishes, he only enjoyed light-hearted sparring, unable to picture a life of pure fighting.

He almost laughed at the sound, "How long have you gone without eating? Don't paladins have a lot of gold? That's what I was told anyway..." Pretty soon they were out of the thick brush and in the soft grass. Tossing the dead boars haphazardly to the ground, Rayer wasted no time in attempting to heal his own wounds. Magic wasn't his forte, so he was the definition of concentration.

Jellian - April 13, 2008 12:24 PM (GMT)
"I used to do something for the military, but I was betrayed..." Jellian said, "Since then, I have been avoiding large townships... and so, no jobs for me." Jellian smiled, "Doesn't matter though, I get by... barely..."

Jellian Removed all of his heavier outer clothes, leaving only one bare layer of clothing on his tired body. "Do you know how to skin a pig?" Jellian said, "If not, I can teach you, but I can't do it like this... I'll just start the fire..."

Yamita - April 13, 2008 11:06 PM (GMT)
Rayer didn't seem as interested as learning to skin as he was about betrayal. "What do you mean? Who betrayed you? For what reason?" He was unfamiliar with the concept of minding one's own business. "There's some kindling over there," he motioned, ears still perked for an answer as he looked in his pack for a butcher knife.

Jellian - April 14, 2008 12:04 PM (GMT)
"I can't say much more than I have, I was betrayed by someone higher than me on the militeristic chain..." Jellian kept mostly quiet as he limped over and pisked up the kindling, he made a pile of kindling and then started picking dead bark off of trees. Dead bark was drier than normal wood, and caused a fire to light up faster.

Jellian used his sword to start the fire, with another rock, the two clanking together caused a decent spark, one enough to start a fire...
