Arthur studied the print before him it was human but it was odd none the less. It was to deeply put in the ground as if the person had meant to stomp his foot print into it. Usually bandits were more carefull, it was odd and Arthur suspected a trap. He had always been good at tracking though mostly through having to hunt shadowspawn. WHen all else failed he followed his nose but now it was odd.
There were to few footprints and from what he had heard the twosnpeopel say there had at least been 200 bandits in the raid. Before him though were less than twenty tracks and that was odd in itself. Usually more numbers travelled these woods. They were dangerous even to the bandits that lived in them. Over the years their eyes had gotten use to the mist and could see as clear as day in it where others could not. THats why hunters had a hard time findign them.
Arthru was diffrent he had dragon blood and nothign could hide from a dragons eyes if he was looking for you. HE had been on their trail for a few days finding evidence that what they had taken was still among them. That was good he had said he would return it but now he wished he had taken the offer for help. HE was a good fighter he had killed 16 dragons in one day where 100 men would have been overtaken by one. Now however things were diffrent his skills were still razor sharp but what he saw bothered him. He wondered where the other bandits went.
He did not want to be ambushed even he was not immune from hurt. Especially in his human form. Even with the Armor of Bloodshed on he could be hurt badly. Still Arthur had made a promise and he always kept the promises he made. Finally he stood and went off in the direction of the tracks. Carefully watching his surroundings for any sign of ambush.
Vunn searched the ground for footsteps. He knew they had to be heading this way. He was on a mission, and he knew that it might end badly for him. But he didn't care. The reward seemed greater than the risk.
Vunn had become a Bounty Hunter. He was now being paid for doing what he does best; hunting down criminals, and bring them to justice, be it dead or alive. Only this time, the danger was much greater.
Vunn was not tracking just one criminal, but a band of theives. He was not in danger by one petty theif, but an entre band of trained, and most likely amred criminals.
He had heard rumors tat they were keeping a base in the misty woods of the area, but would rather not venture into the woods to find out. Last time he ventured into a wooded area, Vunn had fought an increadibly strong enemy. He had taken the life of one man, and barely escaped with his own.
He had caught no sign of the criminals thus far, and was not going to get his hopes up. These bandits were masters of evading pursuit. They were known to be swift, and silent. He had slowed his pace to a mere stroll.
And, when he thought all hope was lost, the ground to his right looked as if it had been disturbed. Crouching down, he noticed many foot prints. He estimated around 25-30. And, as he had feared, the trackss were headed straight to the forest.
He advanced towards the forest. He esrtimated himself to be about a half a mile to a mile from the forest. Suddenly, he spotted movement. There was a figure walking towards the forest. It was just a single being. He figured it probably wasnt one of the bandits, but he should investigate anyways. He began to sprint towards the figure.
Arthur had walked only a short while when he spotted some more evidence of his quarry. It seemed that in their hurry to escape that had let fall some of the loot. The direction of the evidence went north but something bothered him about this. Bandits were real carefull about their loot. He picked it up and examined it closely, it was a bowl and golden. The odd thing was now though as he was getting deeper trackign was getting harder. The reason it was odd was because these bandits in this area were known to be careful almost elusive.
It was as if they expected to be followed, they had no need ot fear pursuit the ofrest hid them well enough. Arthru knew danger when he saw it and this game had gotten more dangerous. He looked around a bit and rose again. He kept following the tracks and he came to a path where two ways crossed. There was an overlap of prints but he coudl tell which ones were new. He checked them anyway. They ahd passed here only an hour before but the trail was warm.
HE then noticed a figure to his north it was moving silenlty but with experience. He knew it couldn't have been a bandit no bandit was stupid enough to go into the forest alone. They were a suspicous lot so they very rarliy ventured alone. Still Arthur couldn't be to sure he had always been cautious and now was not the time to throw it away especially not here. He knew as he went deeper the msit would get thicker and he would lose him. However, if the man was fater the bandits as well he would be lost in the mist. HE looked around and found a perfect palce to wait. HE sat on a open stump on the road and took out a water bottle and drank a bit. HE would wait and see if the man was fater the same prey.
