I got a neat idea not long ago.

What if we had a sort of Ardian lottery each month?

Everyone who wants to participate can pay 5 gold for a ticket, and the winner gets the pot. The more people who play, the bigger the prize.

And maybe, like, at the end of the year, there is a Grand Lottery, whereby everyone can buy a ticket once a month for 5 gold for the Grand Lottery. At the end of the year, the pot could be huge and there is a possibility of every person participating having 12 chances to win.

So, the more people who enter, the bigger the pot!

Think, just 5 gold x 12 months = 60 gold, and if ten members participate, thats a 600 gold prize!

Of course, this would need some rules and other refining, but I thought I would toss out the basic idea.

Sounds good, but what about instead of gold, they are prizes? Or it could be a combination!

On second thought, the entire logistics of this seems very annoying. How do you guarantee a fair pick? How can you be sure of who bought which tickets and how many?

My answer to you would be, each ticket is numbered. Then perhaps a script which generates a random number, somewhere between the field of tickets where lowest number is x and highest is y. The algorithm would randomly (as random as a computer gets, anyway), pick a ticket number. The holder of the ticket gets the prize.

If no person holds that ticket number, perhaps the closest ticket number would be the prize one, or even more fair, another number would be generated instead.

Alternatively, it could be a preset number, and each participant guesses at what the number might be. The closest person wins the prize, and perhaps a jackpot if dead on.

One big problem would be that it would generate a lot of work on the admin's behalf giving out money to the right people, taking away a certain amount of gold every month etc

However, it does sound like a lot of fun if it was agreed upon. :D

If thats the case, perhaps it would be better as a bi-annual or annual event?
I am not sure exactly how difficult it would be, but, since this is my brainchild I would volunteer myself to shoulder the workload. :yes:

I've actually brought up the notion of a raffle before in the staff forums when we start talking about what kinds of events to host. It's definitely in the books for future use, maybe even soon since there aren't too many holidays coming for us to celebrate.
