In Lomedor stands a tall building, about three stories in height. This building is the home to an Alchemist and his student. The Alchemist's name Is Michael Thorium, the student's name is Gregory Traemas, and he began his studied of Alchemy at a young age. He quickly learned the names of most plants found on Ea, and he quickly learned several recipes for potions. His life hit a bumpy patch and end the end Gregory found himself at the care and teachings of Mr. Thorium. For several years Gregory has stayed to his research and the extent of his communication to another concious being ended at his mentor, the young Alchemist mostly kept to himself and his researches.
The sun hangs lowly in the West and the sky has turned a flurry of orange, pink, red, and yellow. The soft glow flows over the city and the people do not cease their activities. the music from both pubs can be heard across the town. The building that holds the two alchemists muffles the noise from the outside world, inside is a hallway with many doors, each leading to a room that holds one test subject or a substantial amount of research.
Gregory Traemas sits at a desk with his journal and a small set of beakers, bottles, and paper. The room is dark, but it doesn't bother him. He looks through a microscope at a set of bacteria that have grown on the petal of a Fire Blossom. the heat from the plant is extraordianry so the bacteria obviousley adapted to their extreme conditions. The only question was, what did they do? He had admistered several bacteria to two test subjects, rats, that were literally the same being, but they had two differant reactions! One died a quick and noisy death, while the other seemed to become quicker with no other reprocussions.
Footsteps sounded down the hallway and Gregory wrote down some activity of the bacteria. He knew it was his master coming through the hall. The door opened, his mentor came in and sat down in a chair. "Gregory,' he started with a seemingly joyous tone, 'you realize I deeply respect yhe work you have done, but I believe it is time you go out and begin doing more research." Gregory knew what this was, his mentor was requesting, politley, that Gregory go from the confines of the building and explore more of the world. All Gregory could think about though was that horrible experience. But Gregory knew that he couldn't spend his life locked away behind shut doors and expiraments. He knew he couldn't spend the rest of forever in Lomedor. He listened to his mentor through. His mentor said everything that Gregory was thinking. He let out a sigh nodded and gathered his things. But he did not show sorrow so his mentor would not feel bad for 'sending' gregor away.
Before Gregor left his home which he lived in for the past several years his mentor gave him some gold for the journey ahead. After a while Gregory found himself at Lomedor Square, but he didn't know what to do from there on so he just sat himself on a bench. It wasn't too long before the creature he often saw made it's appearance. It seemed to beckon him to follow it, and like always he followed it. It led him to a crowd of people,it ran as fast as it could, and in turn Gregory ran as quickly as he could manage. He ran nto the crowd until he hit somebody and inevitablly fell on his butt. "I'm sorry for that." He apologized as he scrambled to gather the potions and reagents that fell from his bag.
As the sun slowly crept towards the horizon most people prepared for the end of their day. The city of Lomedor was a bustle as they scattered to try to make one last penny or fill that one last errand before the impatient and unforgiving sun disappeared for another night.
Unlike the rest of the town, one girl named Alexis Cassidy was just now beginning to wake for her sleep. With a noisy yawn she crawled out of her bed and dressed herself while singing a soft tune to herself. The other tenants that shared the apartment heard her moving about and called to her teasingly. They often made fun of her strange sleeping patterns, but Alexis never minded. She simply smiled back as she walked past them and exiting the building.
The maiden got many looks from some sketchy looking figures as she strolled down the chaotic streets, but Alexis payed them no heed. She picked up her flute as she walked and began to play the same tune she had sung in her room, and she quickly found herself becoming lost in the music.
The world around Alexis seemed to slip away as she played. She began spinning around on her heals dancing to her own tune. A few of the pedestrians stopped for a second to watch the young lady; a few even threw done some coins thinking she was some poor street performer. But Alexis did not stop. She continued to play shutting her eyes and completely losing herself in the music.
WHAM!
She collided with a young boy about the same age as herself. She fell hard to the ground as the world suddenly jumped back into focus. She threw her arm down as a reflex to absorb most of the fall and caught the impact with her funny bone. Not so funny, she thought as she messaged her arm. She looked up smiling and appologized to the young man, "I'm sorry. I was not paying attention."
