Title: Skills, Feats & Flaws
Lothlómendil - March 14, 2008 03:43 PM (GMT)
After many weeks and hours of work, I am pleased to announce the release of some new skills and feats, as well as the addition of a flaws page. ^_^
Flaws can be found in the Rules & Info forum and are essentially there to give you an idea of what kinds of imperfections you can add to your character to make them seem more realistic. No one is perfect, after all. :D
Most of the skill descriptions (and some feat descriptions) have been re-written or adjusted to give better clarity on their use. Two important changes are as follows:
- Move Silently has been altered so that it automatically fails whenever you are wearing medium or heavy armor.
- Pick Pocket has been changed to Sleight of Hand, with additional uses added.
New skills and feats include:
Skills: Set Trap, Disable Trap, Pick Lock, Climb, Hide, Spot, Knowledge – Seas
Feats: Expert Climb, Center of Balance, Reconnaissance, Espionage, Rope Techniques
Some skills / feats have been removed! The following skills / feats have been discontinued:
- Swim skill (You don't need to pay to be able to swim.)
- Artist feat (You don't need to pay for this, it's so unimportant.)
- Dragonsong feat (This feat's use has always been abused and was never really befitting of the rules anyhow. It has also been removed from Beastmaster PrC.)
- Knowledge – Religion skill (There isn't anything officially published for people to really know about "religions" other than the basic deity-following info, which everyone is allowed to know at no cost.)
- Ride skill (You don't need to buy the skill to be able to ride a horse. Refer to the Saddleback feat if you wish for your character to have advanced riding skills.)
If anyone owns the skills / feats that were removed, you are entitled to a full refund. If it was a starting skill or feat, then you simply need to switch it out for another. In order to receive your refund for a purchased skill / feat, you must post in the Sales Counter and include a link to the topic in which it was purchased. If the item was a gift / bought for you or transferred from an alternate account, you need to find that topic. We need solid proof of purchase. The correct topic is easier to find when you remember who started the topic because you can then click the "find all topics started by this member" link.
Last but not least, the Skills & Feats have been merged into
one topic and moved to the shop forums.
Hope everyone enjoys the new updates! :w00t:

Looks good Lothy. But one question - if someone has these feats or skills that were removed, do they pick different ones?

I see only one problem with all of this: how is a new member going to know that he/she can pick skills/feats at the start? You can't see the shop topics as a guest, after all, and it might be quite some time before a new member goes to buy something. They might notice the skills/feats thing, but then again they might not.

Even though newbies can click on them here:
Info sheet. But then again some of them don't use the sheet. Maybe it could be added in the description of the first sub-forum, next to starting equipment and all.

As has always been, the information about skills and feats available to new members is posted in the starting equipment topic. Everything people need to know is posted in an informative location they can access. :p

Okey dokey then. Just wondering. :r
