Title: Split Spell Suggestions
Kari Firestone - August 15, 2007 03:37 AM (GMT)
I suggest we have a "Hard Earth" spell, the opposite of the "Soft Earth" spell. It would make soft ground hard, useful if battling in sucking swamp waters or sand, really just useful in general.
I'm not sure what else I should add. That sounds good for now. :)

Some sort of spell that allows you to knock several enemies off of you at once, but takes severe mana energy to pull off.

A whirlwind spell that can be used for transportaion, and it can be used to consume items like a normal whirlwind. It weould cost over 150 gold and cost a lot of mana

Ward: The caster must draw a circle, no larger than twenty feet in diameter. After reciting the incantation, as long as the circle remains unbroken, no one that the caster denies entry may enter the circle. They are also protected from any attacks that come from outside the circle. No one outside the circle may touch or break it. Whenever the ward repulses an attack, it strains the caster's mana, and he must constantly fight to keep it intact.
Break Ward: Can be used to break a ward cast by your enemies. You must focus your mana into the spell, and if your magical force is greater than your enemy's, then the power of their ward will be broken. However, sometimes your enemies will prove to be the stronger force, and as such, this spell runs a high risk of failure.
Crush Ward: You are more proficient at breaking wards, and thus your chance of failure is lessened.
Obliterate Ward: This spell will never fail to break the power of a ward. Can be used once per month.

I think more/all spells should be latent, that would be really cool. Because then, one could blame magic on a strange heritage, or an inherited power, or just plain a honed magic ability, like psionics. It seems to make more sense to me, but I don't know. Maybe there is another purpose to castable spells that I'm missing.

How about manipulate sand, for the desert people. It would probably be a latent ability and would be under either Earth or Air. I was thinking under earth. It could be used to do a number of things, from tripping up your foe if there is enough of it, creating a sheild by compacting it, or just irrate the oppenent's eyes.
Or maybe just to add to the Summon Swarm spell so that when using it out of the water you could summon a small swarm of bats, birds or insects

RAGE makes your strength and speed raise

A few ice related spells:
Frozen Gauntlet: Coats the casters fists in ice, causing slight ice damage from punches and lowering chances of being disarmed. Lasts longer in cold climates but melts in hotter climates. Can be melted with fire magic.
Snowflake Shuriken: Creates 3 large, sharp snowflakes that fire at a target, causing minor ice damage. Melt after a few minutes thus leaving no evidence.
Frozen Sickle: Weapon is required to cast. The caster created an arc in mid air with their weapon and creates a crescent shaped sheet of ice which fires at the target. Melts after half an hour.
Kite Whytedge - November 29, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
Surge: The user's body begins to charge with electricity, before sending out a small dome of lightning magic outward. Dome covers a fifteen foot radius and causes moderate lightning damage.
Shockwave: The user charges electricity into their dominant hand, before slamming it into the ground. A path of surging lightning will then rocket towards the opponent. Causes moderate lightning damage.
Magnetism: By charging electrons in the air to a certain density, the user can possibly disarm opponents by attracting steel-based weapons from their hands. The more steel involved with the weapon, the longer the electrons will need to be charged.
Electroslash: Must have Thunder Hammer in effect to use. By concentrating the lightning surging around the weapon, the user can send a small wave of lightning energy racing at the opponent with a quick slash in the air. Causes heavy lightning damage.
Lightning Rain: Must own Lightning Bolt. User shoots a lightning bolt into the skies, then waves their hand downward, summoning a storm of lightning to rain down upon the immediate area. Has a radius of fifty five feet.

I have a general spell suggestion. Im wondering if when you play a magic based class, it would be possible to start with one of the minor offensive spells instead of healing or latent spells, that way the magic based character can hold their own in a fight without having to slap people with a wand or staff.
Maybe magic missle or fireball or something?

I thought a bit and came up with this:
Inner darkness
Latent spell. Can only be used by evil aligned characters. Darkness surrounds the person, making her immune to all holy spells and high resistant to spells that target the user because of alignment. The user is also permently surrounded by shadows, unless willed away.
600-700 gold
Heart of fire
latent spell. Causes all offensive fire spells to be enlarged, empowered, and without need of gestures or words of command. This spell also causes the user to be unable to use ice/water spells, items, or equipment of any kind. User also grows weak inside of water
around 400-500 gold

Earth Mace:
Similar to fire blade, holy hammer, and ice axe, this imbues your weapon with the power of earth, and makes your weapon become coated with stone. In other words, the earth version of the spells listed above. 75 gold, like the others.
Shinji - December 18, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
Jewel Manipulation
-Allows the user to see deep into the users mind, causing the opponent to have flashbacks that may harm or heal the users mind. Side effects of casting this spell may include drowsiness, faintness and temporary memory loss.
Hattie - February 3, 2008 03:56 AM (GMT)
I'd like to see a spell that magically enlarges the interior of something. Like you could have a seemingly normal house, but inside its actually five times bigger, etc.
Obsidian Nocturne - February 3, 2008 06:30 AM (GMT)
Time Lapse- speeds up the passage of time to at most, an hour. During this time, individuals will not be able to do anything but endure through the change. Spells that have been cast that do have a duration to them will likely wear out.
Dark Wraith - February 3, 2008 01:27 PM (GMT)
Strong Mana (Latent): Once per topic, you may focus a lot of your mana into one spell, ensuring that it does not fail. Over-rides Dispell Magic.
