Title: No longer alone

Lance - February 11, 2008 03:44 PM (GMT)
It was the middle of the day, and once more Lance found himself along the coast of the land of Ea, his feet moving almost ceaselessly, taking the one-eyed demon to various places for no particular reason at all, simply for the fact that he had no place of his own, anywhere or with anyone. Completely alone, which was how it had been for some time now.

Sighing at thinking about these things, he turned his mind to something else, even though he couldn't think of anything. Perfect. Just another normal day, with nothing to do, nothing to think about. Alone.

Or perhaps not quite alone this time.

Looking ahead of him, something he didn't often do when he was out in the middle of nowhere simply walking, he saw a boat leaving, a girl, probably about five, apparently having just gotten off of it, accompanied by a white cat. Curious as to why someone that young was alone out here by themselves, he walked over in her direction, inwardly wishing that he could make his presence less...well, scary. The wings, tail, and slitted red eye didn't exactly help the matter, but hopefully it wouldn't be a big deal.

"Not sure it's good for a young girl like you to be alone out here...well, mostly alone," he said, his voice light and calm, standing a few feet away from her and glancing to the cat for a moment with this last part of the comment, then turning his glance back to the girl and smiling a little. "If you have some family you're visiting or something like that, I could probably take you to them if you want."

The young walked along the docks of the Marina with her furry companion at her side. She seemed to be alone, shunned out by the rest of the world. Long, ultra-violet locks were placed and tied back as long pigtails with pink ribbons adorning them perfectly. The child's outfit, was a maid-like dress, a bit torn to show that it was worn out and wet from the morning's rain.

All-in-all, this girl with no doubts, was very pretty, like porcelain doll ripped out of a collector's edition box. A dark shadow stood in front of her, her deep sea-blue optics still remained lowered until she gained the strength to lift up her head. The feline at her side, a gorgeous white Persian, it looked like, sapphire eyes locked on the stranger with a low meow. He could probably guess correctly that she came came from a wealthy family. Which was true, she did.

The girl gazed up at him awkwardly. as if not understanding what he was saying. She did not know English, she only spoke German. But her pet, however, could understand English. He had a gift in telling the English speakers what she was actually saying telepathically. It all depended if they knew German or not.

Athelia spoke in almostperfect German, "Mein Name ist Athelia. Ich bin heraus hier, weil ich kein habe, wo man sonst geht. Meine Mutter und Vater und Bruder wurden alle von einer schlechten Armee getötet. Unser untergebracht unten gebrannt. Wo bin ich, zum jetzt zu gehen?" her gaze stayed upon the man's eyes for a moment or two, then she started to cough sickly.

"My name is Athelia. I am out here because I have nobody, otherwise. My mother and father and brother were killed by a bad army," the girl said in a language rather unfamiliar to Lance, who was somehow able to understand it thus far, though the next sentence he couldn't quite, something about burning. "Where am I to go to now?"

What the girl said was as if in response to his question, but judging by her expression it seemed she didn't actually know the language he himself was speaking, which could be a bit of a problem. If there was anything he knew well, however, it was languages, in which he was versed in a good multitude from spending over a century among various creatures, various languages and other forms of communication. A certain advantage to being a demon straight from the Underworld, he supposed.

Glancing to his side when he heard a light chirp, he found that his young dragon, Tiridae, had returned from its foraging for berries or whatever it actually was looking for, looking to the cat in interest, its green wings flapping lightly and purplish scales catching the light of the sun.

Then Lance heard a weak cough, and returned his attention quickly to the girl in front of him, gathering his thoughts to try and figure out what to say next, trying to piece together his affinity for languages and the words he'd understood earlier to try and get it out successfully.

"Mein name ist Lance," he began, getting this first part out easily simply by repeating her earlier greeting. "Ich nehme an, dass ich mich um Sie sorgen kann, wenn Sie wünschen. Es gibt eine Stadt in der Nähe, wohin wir gehen können, bekommen, dass Sie brauchen könnten."

A girl without a family, though, new to this land, seeming to be the age he'd first appeared to be some time ago when he'd come to the mortal realm and adopted a human guise. Here they both were without a family...maybe he could do something about that.

"Es scheint, dass wir beide ohne eine Familie in diesem Augenblick sind," he said, considering trying to teach the girl the language he normally used, feeling awkward using this one.

The girl smiled a bit and extended a hand to grab on to his. Already there was a feeling surging through her body, knowing he'll take her into a home. A nice, warm place by a fire place. It was just too cold, breath started to turn into steam, a cold rain poured down upon them. She started to follow him, holding his hand.

The white cat that was her companion stayed close to her, by all any means. He never dared to leave his owner's side. He let out a meow to let her know he was still there. Athelia smiled when she gazed down at the animal, "Sind sie mein vati?" she asked Lance, her smile seemed to had fade shortly after that smirk to her cat.

Lance was leading her somewhere, but where? Where was he leading her? Could she trust him? It didn't matter. She was an orphan. Give or take. To live or to die alone. But, the girl then threw her arms around the man's waist. She was a toddler, a hungry, cold and wet living being without a home, without a family. He needed to teach her English, for sure.

As the girl nuzzled her face into his waist, she sobbed. "Vati! Vati! Lassen sie mich nicht....!" she cried, begging him so sweetly, this child needed him more than ever. More than anyone has ever needed him.

Looking up into the sky, he felt a cold rain begin to fall as they were out there, sifting through his mental map of the realm of Ea to try and pinpoint the nearest town according to where they were at present, remembering one not too far down the coast. Not exactly the best or biggest port town, perhaps, but it was something, so it would work. Feeling the girl's hand close over his, he glanced down to her in mild curiosity, hearing what she was saying and sorting it through in his mind, finding it to be kind of...strange. Maybe he didn't translate it properly or something? Though he didn't seem to have a problem in doing so before...

Deciding not to think too much about it at the moment, he turned his attention to the path ahead, trying to think of a way he might be able to speed up the trip, or something. At least make it more pleasant than walking through this rain, but little came to mind before the next thing the girl did.

Throwing her arms around his waist, Athelia began to cry, begging him not to leave her, and calling him...father? That was...unexpected, to say the least. A demon like him, a father...that was definitely new.

"Nicht sorgen, ich geht nicht." 'Don't worry, I won't leave,' he assured her, smiling and kneeling down to hug her lightly, the young dragon Tiridae pursuing the cat in interest. "So bist du meine Tochter jetzt, huh? Vermutung I muss mein Bestes tun," he continued, standing up and shifting one of his wings to shield the young girl from the rain as they walked, rather looking forward to this whole 'fatherhood' thing, luckily, while not having any actual experience, having seen it done before, with his two younger brothers, both adoptive.

They came to his home, a castl of some sort that modeled very dark and mysterious. Athelia tilted her head after peeking out behind Lance and had let her eyes roam over the building, like a guy checking out out a beautiful woman. This castle was indeed beautiful, followed by heaps of eerie mysteries that she had yet to discover and explore for an explanation. Guaranteed, she was going to have a lot of fun in there, finding secret passage ways and maybe even go into a hidden room, like in those horror movies from the 50's.

The Gargoyles pierced in black, stared down at them with their stoned eyes, cold and non-responsive. Could it be that they just statues, decorations of the home she'll now live in? ...or are they real? In that kind of darkness, there was a suspicious feeling about the Gargoyles. The eyes of them staring down at her, could it be that she was their new victim? Master's daughter? Perhaps. Frightened of this place, she clung to her father's pants, since she was so little, easily scared.

But, these thoughts were going through this young one's head. She is now living in an enchanted castle, is she now a Princess? She remember from the books that her older brother Messiah, used to read to her about a sleeping princess, a princess who lived with dwarfs, and also on of the classics, a princess kissing a frog. Was she going to be one of the four fairy tales? All these thoughts brought a comforting feeling to her, if she was going to be a Princess of this castle, she'll be her own unique one. There was no use in copying story books, but this, right now, looked like something you'd find in a child's fairy tale book at bedtime.

Just then, she gazed over at her father, her little hands still clutched to the fabric of his pants - her feline ears tweaking. She spoke softly, "Vati, bin ich eine Prinzessin jetzt? that was perfect German, but he needed to teach her proper English, so it'd be easier to understand each other.

After a short ways of walking, they'd come to his home, at least for now, a castle by the coastal village that was shared with a few others, two of whom were fairly normal people that had needed a place to stay, one of whom was one of more noble lineage, something Lance himself couldn't really say the same about.

Imposing though it was, it had never really bothered him, not that it could be expected to as he was a demon, having spent over a century in the darkness of the Underworld. Feeling her cling to one of his pant legs, he looked down to Athelia, hearing her ask if she was now a Princess.

"Nicht eine Prinzessin, aber nahe. Ich bin sicher, dass Sie es hier genießen werden, es gibt Überfluss, um zu sehen," he said, then translated, "Not a princess, but close. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here, there's plenty to see."

Glancing up with his one remaining eye to the gargoyles for a moment, as if warning them against trying anything, he turned his attention back to the castle, pushing open one of the large doors leading inside. The entrance hall was lit by a candle-filled chandelier eternally burning, glinting gold and dangling down from the ceiling. A few stairways led to the upper floor, and five doors lined the upper and lower areas of the large, red velvet-carpeted main hall, with another hallway in the back on the main floor leading into the dining area.

"Welcome to your new home," he said in his normally-used language, feeling that that statement, at least, wasn't too difficult to understand regardless. With a new daughter, it certainly looked like things would get interesting for him.
