Anika had been traveling through the beaten path of the forest for some time now. The moon had been traveling along with her for some time, but now it had begun to recede into the horizon, and the sun was just coming up. It left the forest in a beautiful twilight, the sky just beginning to be painted with beautiful hues of pinks and golds.

The sky's beauty was marred this morning however as a beautiful bird, which looked a bit ruffled and battered, was falling from the sky. In the distance Anika could hear hunters shouting and giving commands. A hate began to grow within Anika " Who could hurt such a beautiful creature?"

She threw herself off of the security of the dirt road and began to push through the foliage. She had always hated death, and did everything she could to preserve life. It would be a shame if the creature she had seen only moments ago would never be able to grace the skies again. Anika would not let that happen.

The anger the girl felt momentarily blinded her however. In her fit of passion she had ran as fast as she could in the direction of the bird, but she did not know exactly where the beast had landed. She began to call out for the bird, as if it would be able to hear her " Please show me where you are!" She blushed after saying this. It sounded so foolish to be talking to a bird as if it would be able to know what she was talking about and respond.

She soon closed her eyes and took a deep breath, clearing her mind of all thoughts and fears for the bird or anything else that claimed stake in her life. She let the cosmos whisper their secrets to her. She let them point her in the direction of the bird. Her scrying soon worked and she knew the path once more. It was less of a knowing than it was a strong feeling, but that strong feeling was enough to push Anika onward.

She traveled quicker now, knowing that she had the advantage on the hunters. She knew where their pray was even before they did. " I am coming bird! Hold on!" She said this with a passion she had put on few phrases before this, but the words were wasted on her own ears and nobody else's

(( Ok I just decided to write up the opener. Feel free to draw a beautiful picture of the chase and the transformation and the landing and such and then i will have Anika come across you))

Darkness began to turn rather pale and light as the white wings beat in the purple colored air. Chills of wind raced though pale feathers as the winged creature fled from her pursuers. This wasn’t the first time the bird had been chased because of her rare feathers and meat, nor would it be the last time. Ever since Mosha had been flying by herself, away from her own kind, there had always been hunters for her. But the long flying beast would always grin and bare it, well grin if she could. Her beak parted in a screech as arrows flew by, wishing to impale her. Yet her flexibility in the air was wonderful up to a point. Below she gazed with brown orbs at the hunters, there had to be at least ten of them chasing her. Of course she was big enough for all of them to eat her.

Peaking from the earth was bars of light dancing across the trees up into the air. Before the bid had time to land in prepare what would happen next, she found herself at least thirty feet high from the ground. Fear struck heart as she felt the two white wings twist and turn in pain. Crunching sounds echoed the breezed while the hunters believed they had hit their mark. “That’ll git her!” One man called out in his dirty hunter clothes baring animal skins. Voices whirled in her mind as she quickly fell down to the trees. Leaves stuck out in an attempt to catch her, but she simply fell through the cracks of limbs. Pain stretched from her belly, all the way to her talons, now turning into feet.

Pale feet with a bird’s body moved to find sturdy ground but only to find more hard wood. Prickles of leaves with thorns cut her uncovers feet as she continued to fall, soon pale wings turned into pale arms as gravity finally swung the woman to the ground. Against the ground with only her daily cloak of feathers, the lady laid on her belly on top of sticks and leaves. Black locks of hair fell towards the front of her face as tears fled from her eyes. There was pain in those brown jewels as she heard sounds of voice. Too weak to stand up and run, she laid surrounded by bushes, praying no one could see her.

Anika had be rewarded for trusting her instincts, just as she always was. She had been an eye witness to the bird falling from the sky, but that was the wild thing. It had not been a bird at all, or at least not at that moment.

She ran towards the bushes where the creature lay in pain, dropping too her knees. She brushed a few locks of dark hair from her face, looking into her deep and sullen eyes, talking only in a whisper " Do not worry. I have come to help." She pulled her gaze from the hurt eyes of the stranger and began to dig through her bag, taking the ingredients she needed out of it.

She picked up a small piece of chalk and began to draw a few small signs in the dirt as quickly as she could. The next thing she did was formed a circle with brick brick dust and ground scarab beetles. Lastly she took a handful of unicorn hair, throwing it up into the air, free of tempest, and it fell to the ground inside the circle. As the hair fell a force could be felt inside the circle, as the ring filled with a magic that would ward off enemies.

She had finished the circle just in time, for right as she pushed herself up from the ground an arrow whistled past her head. This made her heart miss a beat, now thumping twice as fast to catch up. She swallowed hard the fear that threatened to take over her. She had to be strong for the girl that did not have enough strength left in her to be strong for herself. She began to talk to the girl, but never took her eyes off the men that were trying to surround them " Everything is going to be alright!" She said this in a cool and calm voice, but on the inside her stomach was in knots, half out of fear and half out of rage. She hated people like this. People who did anything necessary to achieve their own selfish dreams, even if that meant stepping on others, beating them down or using them as if they were an object. She had dealt with these kind of people for so long that it made her sick just thinking about them. She was not only fighting to protect this stranger, but also to punish these men, and all like them.
