Title: It's the principle that gets ya

Closing her eyes she took in a controlled, deep breath before exhaling. It wasn't a good thing to panic, especially when surrounded and lacking any element of surprise. What'd she ever do to irritate someone? Murdering people reduced the number of people draining resources and got rid of another being that needed to be cared for! They never stole either, only looted corpses, unless Robyn took it.

"We've come to collect your debt Miss Roscherwitz..."

Her face went blank like someone had slapped her in the face. If they knew her last name, they knew who she was. If they knew who she was, then obviously the Federation knew she was alive and mostly well. Which meant these weren't street scum to be idly trifled with.

The lead man wasn't very imposing, to what she'd seen, just another strong-arm thug with his cronies who would go and harass little shop keepers. Now she thought otherwise. Was that hint of magic in the air her own imagination, or were these very real and very dangerous hunters dispatched by the Federation? It would explain why two of them had already notched and aimed bows at her back while the others were ready to draw bladed weapons of some fashion or the other.

Trying to compose herself, they spread their legs to give a solid stance for when they need to dog and swing with the axe. Raising her hands in a pitiful gesture, she tried to respond with some comeback, but found her voice woefully weak and quiet.

"Hey...you didn't give me enough time to get the money..."

Zenith Meria - February 5, 2008 03:26 PM (GMT)
Once again Zenith Meria found himself in Lomedor, the largest city in Arda and somewhere that he had seemingly visited countless times in his life. On this day he was not wearing his usual armour, but instead had went with his cleric clothing so that he could move around more freely than normal. Infact weapon and armour wise the angel had only taken his Holy Blade, Salvations Judgment, with him for the day which he had sheathed down at his left hand side. As he walked Zenith looked into the windows of some of the stores to see the different new items they had gotten in stock but sadly there was nothing he really needed for the time being.

It was during his walk that Zenith heard the voice of, what he thought anyway, a woman saying something about not having time to get the money. Raising his left eyebrow Zenith took a few steps closer to where he had heard this being said and looked down the ally where the voice had come from. There she was, the woman that spoken along with several men who looked like they were going to attack her. Some had even readied their bows for an attack, seeing this Zenith narrowed his eyes and drew forth his blade ready to help out the woman if needed. However for now Zenith just watched on since no attack had directly been made, for all he knew the woman could have done something wrong but if this group of men were to attack her first then Zenith would try his best to help her out, although with no armour on he was bound to take more injuries than in past battles but he was not to concerned about that.

((OOC: Tis sucky, I know, sorry.))

The leader's eyes flickered for a moment. It was the brief hint, but it was the thing they'd been watching for. A signal to his comrades for whatever plan they'd come up with. and they didn't have any intentions of standing stock-still while they did whatever. turning on her feet, her raised hand wrapped around the hilt her axe to tear it through her cloak and into the throat of the man to her right.

The fabric tearing, the sound of steel scratching against the scabbards, it faded from her perception as her only focus was bringing down her first target. It was this focus and alck of total awareness that got her hit however. In their rash thoughts, they'd forgotten about the archers to her back. At least until there was a very solid, and painful, impact to her right shoulder.

reflexively she let go of her drawn axe, sending the weapon flying at his feet. With a slight hop her jumped over it. Only for her left foot to be swinging towards his stomach, and another whistle and impact.

Spinning off balance, she teetered to fall with a something between a cry ad a bellow of pain and anger. A shaft of wood with white feathers stuck out of her back and another had hit her in the left thigh. Already the clothes had become stained dark with her blood, but thankfully the wounds weren't death-hits, but they made it a heck of a lot easier.

With a toothy, animal-like glare she spat at the leader when the strength in her legs gave out, "So whys thbe hounds comthe to play new?"

Zenith watched on. The battle had began and at first he was not sure which side he was to take, but when he saw the arrows tear into the flesh of the woman he gritted his teeth and held the hilt of his blade tighter than before. These men were trying to kill her, yes they might have had a reason but Zenith was not one to stand about and watch a large group of men slay a woman, no we was going to help her and he was going to do it now! Slowly and silently he stepped into the ally with the others, his presence kept unknown for now. His eyes looked towards the woman who now had more than one arrow shaft in her skin, and in seeing this Zenith quickly ducked down towards the ground with a small smirk on his face and placed his right hand on the hard stone ground. Almost instantly a flow of mana escaped from the arm of Zenith Meria and moved along the ground towards three of the archers, stopping between their legs. After a few seconds the spell Zenith had cast finally took effect and three walls erupted from the ground, each wall only five feet in height, but because of where the wall had erupted from it connected with the three archers in that area between their legs causing them great pain as they fell from the walls to the ground.

This of course caused some of the other men to look back and see what had happened, only to see the Archangel of Life standing there with a large fireball in his left hand and his Holy Blade in his right hand. Getting back up to his feet Zenith slightly parted his smirking lips and said, “Ok so who else wants me to make sure they cant have kids hmm?” Waiting on their reply Zenith took one step forwards ready for the attack that would most likely be coming his way.

There was a ripple of confusion as the archers dropped to the ground, disabled for some time to come. As one the people, not writhing in agony from the blows to the crotch, looked towards the new comer. His fair features gave something akin to a noble upbringing, but it seems to perfect, divine in some fashion. One of an angelic pedigree perhaps.

Cringing slightly, they recoiled at his prescience. The hunters would probably engage him, but what about them? They'd just spoken in the black speech and he'd probably detect the unnatural existence beneath her flesh. Even at her prime they didn't want to engage an angel, maybe a half-breed but only with favorable odds.

One of the hunters began chanting in drowish, and her hair began to ripple in an unseen winds. What spell she was about to use, if any, was unknown. Probably getting ready to shut down the newcomer's next spell while her partner who was pulling out a hooked chain would engage in close.

The leader however had stepped back slowly towards the rear, past the archers to better observe the situation, or beat feet if things got messy.

He could see some of the members getting ready to attack him, but still Zenith was not worried one little bit. Taking another step forwards towards these beings he pushed his left hand out towards them, the ball of fire flying through the air towards whoever it would hit first. However as the speeding ball zoomed through the air two others appeared right behind as Zeniths barrage effect took place allowing him to cast three projectiles with just one casting. As the fire balls headed for their targets Zenith started running forwards at great speed towards another one of the archers, who was not expecting the sudden run up.

Drawing closer to the archer Zenith fired a blast of holy energy from his sword which ripped through the chest of the archer and splattered blood all over the walls of the ally that they stood. Watching the body fall to the ground dead Zenith looked back towards the others to see how they were doing with the fireballs, however he has not sure if his attack had went through or not but at that moment in time he did not really care. It was strange but Zenith seemed to be having fun in this battle somehow and was hoping there would be a lot more fun to come for him.

Spinning his sword in his right hand the Archangel of Life said in a playful tone, ”Come on, give me a challenge ok? I actually want to break a sweat in this battle so why don’t you all attack at once or something hmm?” With this said a smirk could clearly be seen along the lips of the angel as he waited for them to strike him.

Lex talionis - February 5, 2008 06:41 PM (GMT)
The ground Zenith was standing on sank up to swallow his feet before hardening, leaving him trapped. It wasn't expected to catch him, but keep him off balance for the spiked chain that was thrown at his center mass. If he parried or stopped it, he'd simply lash it out again and tangle up a limb or weapon. If it hit, so much the better.

The archers were now limping or crawling away down side alleys, not eager to engage their opponent whatsoever. the leader had had enough, figuring that they weren't properly equipped to death with holy interference. Triella could wait another day. without any motions of incantation or words, he slammed hisfist into the corner of a building and sent a deep fracture up its side, threatening the structural integrity. It'd collapse soon enough, probably killing anyone inside.

Gritting their teeth in pain, Triella ripped the arrow out her thigh and stabbed the sorceress in the kidney's. Pressing, she slid the arrow as far as she could before it splintered in her hands. Ignoring the stabbing sensation from the jagged edge she pressed harder, slicing through the drow's tensed muscles. There was an audible snap, and something immediately vital was punctured, and the woman's soul was drawn out as the corpse fell to the ground.

Zenith Meria - February 5, 2008 07:57 PM (GMT)
Even with his feet trapped the Archangel of Life did not seem to worry much on what was happening. He kept his eyes on the being with the chain weapon and kept the same smirk along his lips as the chain was thrown towards him, quickly pushed his right hand forward once more Zenith used one of the abilities given to him by Lothlómendil that blocked all physical attacks for a short period of time. With the ability in place it gave Zenith the time he needed to escape from his trapped state with a very simple indeed. The angel simply vanished from sight as he used his teleporting skills to appear in the air above the one with the chain. The chain wielding being did not seem very happy and pushed the weapon up towards Zenith only for the angel to catch it in his left hand with a strange smile along his lips still.

Quickly Zenith pushed the chain forwards and cast another spell of him, a large bolt of lighting hitting the chain dead on and travelling down its length to shock the one holding it. He was not sure if it would kill the being but it would at least be enough to stop them for now. Tucking his wings back into his back Zenith landed on the ground once more and seen that the “leader” had dealt a lot of damage to a building which would cause it to fall soon.

Narrowing his eyes Zenith thought to himself, “Why… why bring the people in that building into this?” He gritting his teeth and at the same time activated his ability to see object in a heat like vision. He could see four people within the building and knew he was going to have to save them, but what would he do first? Save the innocent people or try to stop the leader of this little group?

Lex talionis - February 6, 2008 04:48 AM (GMT)
The chain-wielder's arm burnt and turned a dead-black before falling limp. Frothing at the mouth he feel to the ground twitching violently as the nerves in his body short-circuited from the electricity running through him and into the ground.

The building itself lsot a chunk of a wall that collapsed into the alley, making a small pile of rubble easily scaled by the angel, but a cloud of dust that'd conceal his hasty, magc aided retreat.

The others inside, were elss fortunate. Being of generic slum citizens, they were nigh useless and were cowering in a corner while the building, and their world, collapsed around them.

Nearby Triella's mind was far and away from the innocents, the main hunter, or even Zenith. Gritting her teeth she tugged on the arrow in her back, only eliciting a jab of pain down her side. No good from the grip she could get on the blood slicked shaft.
