Title: Strange Secrets
Alchemy - February 4, 2008 07:13 PM (GMT)
A clear night draped itself across the plains of Ea, plunging it into semi-darkness. Ordinarily busy trade routes were left to a mere few stragglers making business by the night and small grassland animals were seen poking their heads out only to duck back down as soon as they sensed something coming. A loud wail escaped the lips of some lonesome creature.
By far the most peculiar thing, however, was the red streak moving its way across the landscape in the distance, hardly the sort of thing one would normally see at anytime during the day or night, not that nobody wasn't used to the unusual, after a few dragons the odd troll and the deities working their magic about the world nobody thought anything of a small red blur crossing their vision.
A person might take a second glance had they been a little closer, close enough to make out that the small red streak was in fact a girl in her late teens dressed mostly in black but with bright red hair and eyes, a samurai swords was strapped to her side as well as a majestically decorated short sword on her back, an odd thing for a girl to be carrying. As to why she was out in the plains in the middle of a night was a mystery to those simply choosing to observe the girl, but for the girl herself it was perfectly obvious what she was doing, and that was unusual from the start. Because Alchemy Testerossa never planned for anything.
"Siren!" The young girl's voice called out across the fields "Siren!" She called again.
The girl was beginning to tire slowly, beads of sweat could be seen rolling down her face and her breath was coming in heavy pants.
"Siren!" Surely this was bound to attract attention.
Eventually she stopped, slowing down at first but eventually dropping to her knees and gazing at the muddy ground, panting heavily. She screwed her eyes shut and gritted her teeth.
"Damnit, where are you?" She asked the air.

Lyon was traveling again, this time from Lomedor to Ondolond. He had a long ways ahead of him, but he thought that if he continued his pace, he might just reach his destination before dark. Hopefully, anyway...luck was extremely fickle, and for all he knew, he might get attacked by bandits. Or a tornado might suddenly take form. Or he might trip and break his leg. Or...who knew what else could happen? Only time would tell.
He jogged along, his weapons smacking against his hip. He really need to find a more convenient way to carry them. His thigh was beginning to hurt from the constant slapping. Sure, the dagger was fine on his belt, but the sword was a tad bit painful, and the crossbow was just plain torture. He made a resolution that once he reached civilization, he would but a few more straps and figure something out.
"Siren!" he suddenly heard a person shout. He paused, his hand reaching for his sword, then decided against drawing it. If the person making the sound was nothing more than an innocent traveler, he didn't want to scare...her? Yes, it was definitely a feminine voice.
"Siren!" he heard again. "Siren!" Lyon frowned, then decided to see what was going on. He began to jog again, this time towards the voice.
A red-haired girl came into view. She seemed exhausted, from the heavy way she was breathing. Somewhat curious (and maybe even a little concerned), he went up next to her, and bent down on one knee. Before he spoke, he couldn't help noticing the weapons she carried. Another thing he noticed was that this girl seemed familiar, though he couldn't quite place where he had seen her before...
"Er...are you alright, miss? You seem a little worn out. Need any help?"

The long sprint had drained Alchemy of all her energy already and she felt as though her legs were about to collapse under their own weight, a stitch was forming in her side and every other pant came out as a cough. She'd never run so much in her entire life and she was completely tuckered out.
There was a good reason why she'd been running however, only a few hours ago Alchemy had been going for a stroll in the night around her home village, she often did this as she was very rarely tired enough to go to sleep. During her wanderings the red-haired girl spotted something in the distance, it was hard to make out in the darkness but it had been clear enough that the figure had long hair and a tattered cloak. Upon seeing him Alchemy felt a sudden sense of familiarity for this person and somehow one name popped into her head, Siren.
However once the girl had looked back Siren was gone and there was nothing but a dark road welcoming her, however she wasn't going to give up that easily. She ran after him, or at least in the direction she thought he'd been going. Surely he'd come to see he, Alchemy couldn't think of any other reason, she didn't know of anybody else who'd even seen Siren, and she'd asked a good load of people.
However it seemed even Alchemy's virtually infinitesimal amounts of energy had given out on her, and she now found herself kneeling in the mud, trying to catch her breath and no closer to finding the elusive stranger. She started when she felt somebody close to her and heard the sound of someone taking a breath, she looked round to see the stranger, her expression trying to hide her exhaustion.
"Oh, I'm fine....Don't worry," she panted, sounding less than fine.

Apiros Kilmore had chased down a small band of thieves that had stolen his recent pay, so far that he eventually found himself in the Sequeldor Grasslands. He had quickly dealt with the thieves but now he was utterly lost. He looked around and saw the same thing, trees, grass, and some hills. He let out an annoyed sigh as he made his way up a hill and plopped down, looking over the long plains of grass. He rapped his claws across his legs as he tried o get his bearings striaght, he was utterly lost and confused, but his general kept him from worrrying a lot.
As he sat on the hill he saw a red streak in the distance, it wasn't often that he even saw a red strek in the sunset, but this was on the ground. He looked closer, his eyes seemed to pick up a heat signature in the distance that seemed to be humanoid. He stood up and followed it with his eyes, finally he could actually see that it was some girl. He put a confused look on his face before rushing after her.
He began to trail her and heard the girl scream something, "Siren!" Apiros was familiar with sirens but he wondered if there was really one out here. He had come across a siren once before, and that was the only time he ever loved fire so much. He invisioned a siren burning on the mast of a ship he had sailed on, it's screams had sounded so beautiful... Now Apiros was beginning to worry himself.
Finally the girl slowed down until she dropped to her knees, she was quick and Apiros would be more than happy to race her on a given day, but now he was afixated on some man that came up to check on the girl. Apiros approached rather carelessley, his fingers were wrapped around each other behind his head and he whistled a little tune before saying anything, "Hello, is some siren really chasing you? Because I think you may have lost it." He said with a smile on his face. He must have seemed like a jerk at that moment, but he didn't care all that much.

"Oh, I'm fine....Don't worry," The red-haired girl gasped. Lyon's eyebrows raised.
"Not to sound rude," he said, "but I have a little difficulty believing that. Might have something to do with the fact that you're panting harder than a dog in the desert. Now, I heard you calling out for someone while I was over there." He motioned in the direction he had come from. "You need help finding someone? Because I'm entirely free to assist if you will allow it." He frowned after he got done saying this. Had he just offered to help a complete stranger? There was really something weird going on with his mind lately. It was making him do things that he had never done before.
Before he could hear the girl's answer, he heard whistling behind him. Lyon spun around, his hand snapping to the hilt of his sword, before he saw that it was just a kid, approaching as though he owned the world and had nothing to fear. Lyon scowled at him. Something about the way the fellow was walking made the mercenary not quite like him.
"Hello, is some siren really chasing you? Because I think you may have lost it." the boy said, smiling.
Yep, Lyon definitely didn't like this guy. He was too confident, too arrogant. He never got along well with those types of people, especially when they were adolescents. People like that needed to realize how easy it is to get killed. Once an individual became aware of that, they usually matured at quite a rapid rate.
Lyon returned his gaze to the fiery-haired teenager. "What do you say, miss? I'll be glad to assist you."

Alchemy managed to sit up right and her breathing slowly began to calm down, although there was still a good deal of sweat on her brow. She stared down at her hands and realized that they were covered in mud. She attempted to clean them by rubbing them against each other and on her clothes, only succeeding in staining her outfit and her palms still remained a dirty brown color, not the easiest thing to wash off. Alchemy frowned and lowered her hands again, not bothering to try again until she found some water.
She turned her attention to the man that had walked up to her, wondering what he was doing out here and why he was doing out here. It was a bit of a coincidence to meet someone so far from home and out in the middle of night, but at least he wasn't a bandit. However he did seem concerned about her and had certainly noticed what she had been doing, she turned her face away to try and hide the blushed scowl on her face, she must have look kind of stupid running about in the dark yelling for someone who couldn't even be seen for miles, even if it was daylight.
She looked back around when she heard the man move, she glanced round at him and saw him looking at something else. She followed his gaze and her red eyes fell upon another stranger walking up to them. Two people in one night, what was she a stalker magnet? This newcomer was totally different from the first one, for one he was a lot younger and looked far more carefree, that and he seemed to have misunderstood the situation. Upon hearing the stranger's sentence she immediately perked up with surprise and her gaze shot in the direction she'd come from.
"There's a siren chasing me?" She questioned, however there was nothing there. She turned back to the boy, a cheerful expression on her flushed face "Don't be silly, there's nothing there. Besides sirens hang out on cliffs and we're nowhere near one."
She looked back at the first stranger, considering his question carefully, it took a lot of effort.
"Well it depends I guess," she said "I mean, I don't know much about him apart from he has black hair a tatty cloak and a sword like mine, oh and he has red eyes."

OOC:((Ugh, crappy post. Sorry, I was in a hurry.))
"Well it depends I guess," the red-haired teenager said. "I mean, I don't know much about him apart from he has black hair a tatty cloak and a sword like mine, oh and he has red eyes."
"Well, that's still a pretty easy description to be recognized with," he said encouragingly. "I mean, red eyes, that's something that will really stand out. Extremely unusual, you think maybe he's a de-" he stopped suddenly. He was about to say "demon", but had at that moment seen that this girl also had red eyes. She most certainly wasn't a demon, and might take offense if he suggested that anyone with red eyes might be demonic.
Instead, he looked around, pondering his options. He had already offered his help, so he couldn't back down now. Besides, he was curious. Therefore, he would do anything he could to help the girl find this person. Hopefully, he hadn't already gone too far.
"Do you know what direction he went in?" Lyon asked, hoping that the answer was yes, though he doubted it would be. "Oh, and where he might be headed? Maybe he needed to stop to rest..." He frowned, realizing that his help would probably be all but useless. He felt a little stupid, coming and interfering when the girl probably would have been better off if he hadn't slowed her down.
He looked at the other fellow. He didn't like him, but maybe he would be willing to lend his aid as well? "You planning on just standing there, or what?" Lyon asked him, scowling.
