When shadows fell upon the sky evils alway seemed to bubble out of the shadows like a great poison. One always had to be when venturing out into the black void of night, who knows what rotten beings skulked about in the night, waiting to feast of those less fortunate. It was also the times that less reputible people slummed through the streets and to the taverns for their nightly dose of tonic and booze. Some drowning their sorrows from them.... others to forget their troubles and others still wishing to cause mischief. This put a large strain on the taverns as many were filled to the brim at this hour with a wide assortment of the afore-mentioned people.
With all the people filling their tavern, there was very much garbage for the young barwenches to meddle with both sentient and non. The newest of the bunch had been placed upon clean-up duty, and had been given the task of cleaning up the dirtied plates and mugs. Carrying pile after pile into the tavern's kitchen, the young girl gave a heavy sigh as this was much busier than she had ever expected the tavern to be, the last one she occupied wasn't nearly as popular as this one appeared to be. Gathering up the plates filled with food, the young girl ventured alone-her first mistake- into the back alley, to empty out the scraps in a pile for some of the stray dogs that were known to run around the town.
Smiling to herself the girl,Mia, as she was often called, marveled over the pile of scraps she'd collected from those wasteful drunks indoors. Feeding the poor homeless doggies would definately be putting it to better use rather than letting the poor things starve! Brushing her hands against themselves she knocked a few more bits of food from them before standing to her feet with a contented sigh. Mia had done a good deed this evening, but now it was time to get back to work. Before the girl could turn to leave, she heard the gentle tapping of claws, and her eyes lit up with a bright grin as she instantly recognized the sound. Out of the shadows trotted a tiny little thing, and Mia squealed indelight, a smile flashing her soft lips, teeth brilliantly showing. Inspecting the tiny beast it looked like a small black fox, overly stretched ears wilting back in a manner that would make even the toughest of creatures coo at the repulsively cute sight. It timidly approached searching over the pile of scraps before brilliant hazel pools glistened upwards towards Mia. " Come here boy..."she grinned, but the beast promptly sat down in a huff her nose wrinkling. Boy?! A boy?! Do we not radiate with feminine beauty, you twit?! The beast seemed to speak with her eyes as she glared at the girl, who swiftly corrected herself." Come here girl...do forgive me, hehe it's dark." Stroking along the tiny creature's ears she smiled petting it a moment longer before a commotion in the kitchen, brought her attention back to her job. "Oh they'll be missing me, I should get back! Good bye Blackie!" She chimed, before standing up and turning to return to the back door. The little fox watched as the girl turned to leave a grin forming within those twisted lips as tiny white needles glistened within the dark.
Following behind the girl, a hand soon reached forth, rather than a paw as the figure rose, writhing fingers swiftly claiming her shoulder as she spun her around." We enjoy our meat...fresh,"churred a dark voice as the young girl soon found herself pinned against the wall of the tavern back alley. Slender elegant black lips smiled down at the girl, as a pale face came into view. "Poor thing.."she breathed out, not giving Mia a chance to struggle as she hoisted her up her hands curling tightly about the girls neck." You are looking quite run down, my dear...you should take a rest..."smirked the 'fox' as the girl struggled for her breath. Her attacker was a skilled one, and though as pleasing as it was she could not allow the girl to scream and give their engagement away. Fingers clenched against the voice box, crushing it within their grip and holding the vocal cords still, the figure taking in a deep breath to tease the girl." Do you miss it....can you feel your lungs burning yet?" Regeane leaned forward looking into those frightened eyes met with her own reflection and relished in the chill it caused to run down her spine. It was a good evening when she could be pleased with her work. Once the girl stopped struggling she simply let go letting the body fall upon the ground in a heap." Why don't you take a rest, deary....I'll take over for you."
Moments later the back door opened, a freshly clothed woman entering into the kitchen, with the plates, Mia was sent out to empty. With all the hustle and bustle at first sight of the uniform no questions were asked about the new worker's sudden appearance. The more help the better! Hazel orbs glowed fiercely with mischief as she looked from person to person, her mentors musing over every potential target before writing them off. Not much fun in the employee ranks it would appear..time to venture out into the tavern itself and see what it had to offer! She was a strange sight amoung the other waitresses, her features very well kept compared to the ragged women who ran around the floor. Weaving through the drunken madness she walked at a leisurely stroll, a soft tune heard from behind closed lips as she waded through the crowd, humming an old hunter's song. Oh what will tonight bring her...
