Title: Stargazing in the wind
Description: OTA

Raewyn - January 27, 2008 12:20 AM (GMT)
Raewyn walked onto a large rock at the edge of a poo of water. the crystal water reflected her face and she sighed as she took a small drink. Another night... just like all of the others.

She sat down and winds whipped her hair around her face. She took a deep breath and listened to all of the sounds. Mostly all she had heard was rustling of leaves on the trees. Raewyn laid back and stared at the stars and moon in the sky. They were breathtaking.

Spider Princess - February 6, 2008 07:14 AM (GMT)
Those leaves rustling, of course, were merely a distraction - but not one of Aradia's making. She watched the she-elf closely, her eyes narrowed and hear lips curled back into a biting sneer. As a drow, a dark elf, she absolutely despised everything that the surfaces elves were and stood for - regardless of the subrace. To Aradia and others of her kin, she was just another elf waiting to die. She was nothing more than a filthy she-elf, one of those that had driven her people to the Underdark so very many long, hard, painful millenia ago. Were it not for her and her evil kin, the drow would be the true (and rightful!) rules of the surface world. Instead, the Underdark had become their refuge. They had made it their own, but the elves had turned this place into an evil wasteland. Now it was time for vengeance.

The surface raids were rare and exceedingly dangerous, yet they were nonetheless well worth the time and effort expended. This elf would be no match for her powers. Aradia was far too strong. She glanced off to the side, albeit only briefly before returning her gaze to the hated creature before her, to see two massive wargs sneaking up. There were nine more throughout the surrounding area. Aradia, like the wargs, was hidden amongst the trees that lined one side of the clearing in which the she-elf stood. Aradia waited for the wargs to make their move. She would use it to her advantage - and then kill all of them, the she-elf included. That, after all, was her primary target...

Zekhen - February 6, 2008 11:40 AM (GMT)
The agonizing shriek of a warg in pain followed by a thud engulfed the whole area. Panicked by the downfall of their counterpart, the rest of the pack glanced a few times around before breaking their formation, using their formidable scent to detect whatever or whoever dared to attack them and cut short their spying endeavours. They were not stupid creatures at all.

It seemed that an arrow, launched with pin-accuracy has ruptured the throat of the boor beast, emerging through its other side. The hunter, whoever was he seemed to know exactly the soft spots of those beasts.

The pack of wargs was once belonged to a quite a small army of orc raiders, but during their last assault none managed to survive, except for their ‘mounts’ of course. They all returned to their savage lives, and as they were taught since pups they continued to terrorize the people, killing their livestock and even the villagers themselves.
Something had to be done against them, and it seemed that someone gladly accepted the job.

A galloping horse could been heard from the distance as soon as the first warg fell, a man was no match for the speed of the vile lupine creatures, so the ‘hunter’ had to bring his horse along. Being highly trained in mounted-combat, the job would prove to be a piece of cake for Zekhen, he fired his arrows from the back of his horse while it was running, he did not need his hands to maintain himself in the saddle.

His scent brought the beasts tailing him, and some of them were chasing behind, as the rest of the pack galloped on each of his sides to surprise the horse and make it stop. One almost took a mouth-full of the horse’s leg if it wasn’t for a second arrow that stuck deep into its forehead, penetrating its brain and killing it on place.

Spider Princess - February 6, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
So intent on killing the she-elf in her hatred and lust for the blood of the evil one that she didn't immediately notice the sound of hoofbeats galloping through the soft grass that filled the meadows and clearings amongst and throughout the falls. Suddenly she heard the scream, and she glanced quickly toward it. Now was her chance, since surprise was obviously foiled - at least for the wargs, at any rate.

She muttered a spell and a stronger shadow swiftly rose from the gound. As it sped toward the she-elf, though, Aradia muttered the words to summon a lesser shadow as well. It, too, sped toward its target unerringly as she uttered yet another spell. As she completed it, a wave of fear spread out that affected the wargs but not the shadows. It hit the horse hard, and it spread out to threaten the she-elf by the water. Only the shadows were unaffected. Aradia, however, was already on the move.

Any semi-decent warrior knew that it was foolhardy at best to remain in one place at any given time during a battle, and drow were no different. Aradia moved along the inside of the treeline, slipping onto her left wrist her new 'toy'. She flexed her wrist, thoroughly enjoying the feel of the spiked bracelet that now rested there. It held deadly magic, she knew, so it wasn't merely for decoration: it was a weapon, just like everything else she carried.

Zekhen - February 6, 2008 07:21 PM (GMT)
Iye neighed loudly then reared all of a sudden, bringing the race to a dramatic end, something had hit it into the side, a concentration of black magic in the shape of a semi-solid shadows. Thank god that Zekhen was beyond used with his horse and with a great effort he managed to remain in the saddle. However, the remaining seven wargs got the chance to surround the white stallion. A third arrow hit the small shadow entity straight through its middle, and dispersed it to the same nothingness from which it was created.

The steed was moved in circles, looking for an opening through which it could escape the ambush, but the search was to no avail. The wargs were far too organized.

“Damn it, something else is around here, I can feel it.” Zekhen had no other choice, he put the bow away and jumped off the saddle, pulling his scimitar from its sheath.

The circle formed by the seven wargs grew slower with each step they made; their teeth out for an intimidating display. Then the first attack came, it was dodged, but to the second, the elf was not that lucky. The flashing stinging pain in his arm went up and down his spine as one beast bit him, he did not hesitate and severed its head, to release himself from the grip.

“Damn it!” His tone was filled with frustration, but not as much directed to the evil wolves as it was to whatever called forth that shadow creature and made it attack his horse. A routine job has just turned into a dangerous endeavor.

Spider Princess - February 6, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
((Keep in mind the stronger shadow is immune to normal weapons...so we'll just say you killed the lesser shadow, then. ^_^ ))

As the lesser shadow was slain, the stronger one dove into the throng. It easily threw one of the wargs aside, but the warg didn't dare attack it. It knew not what it was, but it didn't like its scent. Instead, it returned to attacking its primary target. Two others also went for the man, but the remaining three went for the horse. Meanwhile, Aradia was making her way through the shadows until she was in position - and then she attacked.

The fear had dissipated before it got to the she-elf, unfortunately, but it made no difference. Aradia flicked her wrist hard, sending around a dozen razor-sharp spikes the she-elf's way. As the newly-arrived elf fought off the wargs and the shadows, Aradia focused on the she-elf she'd come to kill in the first place. That water would soon be red with the blood of a hated surface elf, a sylvan elf that had no business remaining alive. Indeed, she would not be alive for very much longer.

A slight whistling came through the air as it parted around the spikes shooting straight for the she-elf, their aim deadly in its unerring linear form. Indeed, Aradia was also an excellent shot with ranged weapons, and this ranged weapon was sure to become one of her favorites...

Raewyn - February 7, 2008 12:04 AM (GMT)
Occ: Soory I had school and everything happened so fast.

IC: Raewyn ears perked up to steps and then growls. she was surrouded now by something she didn't see yet... As arrows began to fly she saw the warrior come and the wargs attack him. She whipped out her bow and arrows and realeased her arrow killing one warg instantly. She was about to relase her second arrow when out of the corner of her eye a show approached fast.

Raewyn dove out of the way as it charged out of the way. She relaesed another arrow but it did nothing to the shadow. She quickly slung her bow and quiver over her back and pulled her sword out.

Again she heard whisting in the air. she dove to the ground hoping to miss whatever was coming at her. She saw the spikes working quickly though the air. She sheather her sword and pulled back her bow and an arrow. Shot shot in the direction the arrows had come from. She had never switched weapons so fast in her life as she drew her sword to help the other man.

Zekhen - February 7, 2008 08:36 PM (GMT)
((Normal weapons, yes, but mine is from the Mithril Forge ;)))

From the distance Zekhen was but a rabbit surrounded by seven of the most vicious predators the long and pointy years as well as a billowy white clothing gave more depth to the similarities between him and the animal. But unlike many others, he was a rabbit who fought for his life.

A third warg came, surprising Zekhen with its ability to jump so high into the air, it seemed that it had strong muscles into its rear legs which threw him towards its target. He would have had his head bitten off if it wasn’t for an arrow that removed the threat for him. It came apparently from no where, but nonetheless the sandy elf was grateful.

With another warg dead, it came easier for the horse to push its way out of the dangerous circle, it dodged and jumped over another semi-solid entity of shadow which for some reason or another was heading towards its master. The faithful mount neighed to warn Zekhen, giving him enough time to dodge the black nuisance and also make an escape out of the circle. Trailing behind him one of the beasts took a hold of his cape, claiming it as its own before he managed to climb on to the saddle once more.

The race has started for a second of time, but now he ran in the other direction, wanting to meet the owner of the bow who saved his head a few seconds ago. Big was his surprise when he found not one, but two females, one of the elven kind and the other an infamous drow.

Spider Princess - February 7, 2008 10:37 PM (GMT)
((Oh, okay. And sorry for moving so fast, Raewyn...that's partly my fault. I should have waited to post again after he did until you had a chance. *Begs forgiveness.* ^_^ ))

As the arrow whistled through the air toward the shadow, Aradia flicked her wrist. Spikes whisked past the arrow as it shot through the shadow, not slowing the creature one bit. Indeed, it whirled even more quickly than the she-elf without losing momentum and picked up speed as he reached out to strangle the life from the hated surface-dweller. But if the bracelet's steel projectiles were deadly, they were nothing to the weapon that awaited the she-elf should those projectiles fail to hit their mark.

Whips were not the most dangerous of weapons in terms of lethality, but to one who knew how to use them - and use them well - it was an excellent way to put down even the most intimidating of foes. Aradia watched and waited, but she did not remain in one place. She sought the refuge of the rock outcropping upon which the fair-skinned monster before her had once stood not too long ago. Now Aradia watched as her shadow did its work, or tried to, and as the spikes of her bracelet hurtled through the otherwise still night air toward the creature that Aradia so loathed. One way or another, the elf would die tonight...

Raewyn - February 7, 2008 11:28 PM (GMT)
OCC: Oh its fine. Forgiveness awarded.

IC:Her eyes switched back an forth until they fell on a drow. Obviously the bearer of the spikes one that now had hit and sratched her arm.

Reawyn dove out of the way again after more spikes came and rolled behind a tree to aviod most of the spikes. SAhe looked around the tree and saw the wargs were mostly gone and the drow had taken up refuge behind the rock she had been at earlier. She drew her bow and shot and arrow stright up in the air. She knew it was hidden in thea night sky and hoped it would hit the dorw as her target. She saw the other man coming towards her but had no time to payy atention to his moves.

Spider Princess - February 8, 2008 08:52 PM (GMT)
((Yay! ^_^ Oh, thank you Merciful One. ))

Aradia saw her quarry fire the arrow since she could see as clearly in the pitch-blackness of the Underdark as the hated she-elf could see in broad daylight, but she didn't dare look up at the stars. She was mostly used to them by now, but she couldn't afford any distractions and didn't like the stars' light anyway. She listened carefully for the arrow and sidestepped it quickly just as the arrow came down. It sank into the soft dirt and mud beside her and fell over, drawn down into the water by the weight of the mud. Then she leaped up and hurled the spikes again. Her dagger was away now, for she wasn't about to waste it by throwing it.

She rushed forward and released her secret weapon just as she got within about ten feet of the evil elf. Faster than the eye could blink, a twenty-foot-long sleek black leather whip snapped out to slash at the girl. Its tip was not bladed, but any whip flying through the air faster than most horses could gallop was most certainly something to be drastically avoided...

Raewyn - February 13, 2008 11:54 PM (GMT)
Raewyn saw the drow run out and pull out a whip. She felt the sting across he cheek and blood rush down her face. She put her hand above the wound and whisper a selected few words. She felt the wound heal it'sself. Again with her bow she shot out an arrow this time she waved her hand and the arrow was invoked with true flight.

"What do you want Drow!" She yelled as the arrow hit it's mark.

Spider Princess - February 14, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
((Oh, sure, true-flight me why don't you. :p And wow, that was a short post... ))

"SHUT UP, SHE-ELF, AND DIE LIKE YOUR EVIL KIN!" she hollared across the open ground in the elvish language, her words carrying true even over the wind that was starting to pick up now and slamming into the ears of the she-elf that now crouched before Aradia with her bow at the ready.

Her cloak was up in an instant, covering Aradia and protecting her from the soon-to-come blow. The arrow was magical in nature, though she could not know this, and it flew true enough - but her piwafwi stopped it, for the most part. Indeed, Aradia's piwafwi was sturdy enough that the arrow didn't do too much damage. However, it did hurt due to the force of the arrow slamming into Aradia. But the whip was recoiled again as she drew it back, preparing to snap the next arrow out of the air when it came. Her dagger was away now, but another spell was being uttered as Aradia came out of the defensive position. By the time that her piwafwi had been thrown wide once more, the spell was completed.

A fear spell hurtled toward the she-elf like an arrow in flight, but Aradia's assault was far from over. Indeed, Aradia had absolutely no intention whatsoever of giving up so easily. She swiftly uttered the words of another incantation, her hands moving almost as quickly in the silent hand code of the drow. The segment of the language she used was that of the clerics of the drow, the manner in which fingers were moved to conjure divine magic to come to the aid of those who were faithful to the diety or dieties they served. Unlike those in the Underdark, though, Aradia did not serve a lesser diety. Now she served Raku, the god of darkness, and he would destroy all those who would oppose him by empowering his most loyal subjects to do so. By destroying the elves that did not serve him, Aradia would destroy a great race and would make Raku's position even stronger in this mortal realm. It might take centuries for her to accomplish such a feat, but it would probably make Raku and Aradia both happy.

It would certainly bring Aradia pleasure to slaughter countless elves of the surface world that was Arda. Indeed, she would immensely enjoy the deaths of said elves. She would dance to the music of their agonized screams and laugh at their pain as they fell to the earth from which they had come. She would sing the hymns of their mortality as their blood soaked the fertile ground that once produced only edibles. She would watch them with glee as they fell in terror before her unholy might. But that was for the future. For now, there was only the she-elf.

Raewyn - February 14, 2008 12:45 AM (GMT)
Raewyn rolled her eyes. Normally she never took side in a fight but this one was to good to pass up. Her narrowed her eyes and dove behind a rock as she saw the drow move. Sneaking around to a edge where most blows would be defected she pulled out her sword. Reawyn looked for a wya to make a break for it but found nothing helpful.

She looked around the rock and her eyes found the drow imeadatly. Laying her sword in arms lengths away she pulled out her dagger. Throwing it low and fast she knew it would most likely hit the drow but fatal it would be far from. She followed the dagger with her eyes and then leaped from behind the rock sword in hand. She was close enough to swing her sword and at least nick the drow.

Spider Princess - February 15, 2008 08:14 AM (GMT)
Aradia finished the incantation for the spell quickly. The shadows swirled and twisted once more, and a large figure made entirely of darkness cropped up from the night-blackened ground in response to Aradia's casting. She turned just in time to see the dagger. Her eyes widened slightly as she swiftly leaped up and over the rock. Her piwafwi flew in the wind kicked up by her leap as she attempted a miniature somersault that would no doubt land her safely out of harm's way. But she was still in harm's way as the she-elf's sword swung, and Aradia knew she was in trouble when her piwafwi ripped as it blunted the blow from the hated one's wicked blade. Aradia fell to the ground on her hands and knees just a few feet from the side of the rock, the skin of her back unbroken yet a deep bruise swiftly developing. It didn't take long for her ragged breaths to etch out the meaning of a healing spell, and then the bruise began to disappear.

She rose to her feet slowly, though for her that was still far more swiftly than any human would have after such a blow, and whirled about. Her whip still rested in the palm of her left hand and her long, slender fingers expertly flung it with great strength, the length of it like some vile flying snake soaring through the air on night winds that no one else could feel - a menacing creature in a world full of danger that faced unafraid the victim its master set before it. As the air parted before the whip, it whistled and howled and Aradia snarled at the she-elf, the full brunt of her hatred of everything that she stood for and was - and everything that she was not - bared and rearing like some monstrous horse. Yet Aradia was no serpent, nor was she a horse: she was a drow, and drow were to be feared. Humans were terrified of drow and awed by surface elves, yet it should be the drow that were also awed by them. One day, the elves would be extinct and humans would bow before the dark elves. But for now, Aradia wanted only to see the blood fall and soak the ground - the blood of a surface elf.

As the whip sounded its battle cry, raging through the air with speed unrivaled, Aradia seemed to utter a silent scream of extreme prejudice and malice. It was a no-holds-barred free-for-all, drow versus elf, darkness versus light - and Aradia most certainly held that advantage in many more ways than one. The night itself strengthened her position, but so did her newfound faith in Raku, and she wasn't about to let a she-elf go unpunished. Her very existence was an insult to Aradia, and nothing could stand in her way once she'd set her mind on something. Nothing - and no one...

Raewyn - February 15, 2008 04:28 PM (GMT)
Raewyn cursed inder her breath. The Drow could heal herself just like Raewyn could. Raewyn knew this was a lost fight. If they both could heal then there would be no reason to fight. However the little spark in her heart told her that this drow wouldn't give up so easily.Raewyn could see her sword had only brused the drow so the cloak must be the drows safety net. If she could get the cloak cut in enough places she would be able to hurt the Drow more seriously and mabe it would give here a good opening to get away.

Raewyn swung her sword again as the whip flung through the air. As her sword came into contact with something, she felt the sharp sting and blood rush to the cut around her stomach. Her hand flew to her stomach and hovered there has she stumbled back. For the second time that day her healing words came. Raewyn looked around for her dagger that lie on the ground about ten feet from her. She swung her sword again and dove to the ground snatching the dagger up in her hand.

Spider Princess - February 15, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
Aradia's grimace of hatred turned swiftly into an evil grin of even more evil glee as the whip bit harshly into the she-elf's stomach. She laughed gleefully as the blood rushed to the new wound, spilling onto the ground and staining clothes and flesh as well as the slick mud upon which the she-elf now stood behind the rocks. But the whip wasn't done and it snapped back almost immediately after passing away from the wounded elf, only to miss her by mere inches. She had healed her wound in the few seconds that it had taken for the whip to snap back, but it hardly mattered. Aradia was already uttering the words and making the hand signs that would evoke another spell.

The fear spell was completed almost quickly as the she-elf rolled on the ground to retrieve her lost dagger. The whip came back to Aradia's side and the fear spell shot out once more, hurtling toward the drow's quarry as it came up from behind the rocks, leaving the defensive roll that had only barely saved the she-elf's life. Ineed, another few inches and the she-elf would have been headless - or at the very least would have had a wide gash in her throat. Even she wouldn't have been able to heal that wound, for how could one cast a spell if one could not utter the spell's incantation? But Aradia's snarling grimace had returned once more as she missed, and now she had cast again. The shadow she'd summoned was now almost on top of the she-elf, and with the fear spell hurtling toward her, it was not likely she would manage to escape from the drow so quickly...

Raewyn - February 15, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
Raewyn looked up just in time to miss the whip as it struck out for the second time at her. She took a deep breath and knew that the only way she was going to win this fight was to targets the drows weaknesses.. Whatever that was? She shook her head and looked around for anything to help her. When finding nothing she looked ahead in the dark.

She sheathed her dagger quickly as she saw the shadow hurtling at her. This night couldn't get anymore worse. She pulled out an arrow and relased it towards the shadow. She waved her hand and true flight was ensued. It more than likely wouldn't work but it never hurts to try. Right? She rolled across the ground and felt the spell hurtle past her.

"Why don't you stop hiding behind your shadows and spells and fight normally?. Or do you know that in a normal fight I would win?!?"

Spider Princess - February 15, 2008 09:37 PM (GMT)
"Shut your mouth, you purveyor of elvish evil! Raku shall see you and all of your kind dead! Your blood shall fill his bath and your soul shall he feast upon! Die!"

The arrow's aim was true, but the shadow conjured was not one of mortal reckoning. Indeed, no mundane weapon could touch it. As the arrow struck, the shadow was like smoke through which the head plunged and a thump could be heard mere seconds later as it slammed into a tree on the other side of the clearing. This brought an evil laugh to Aradia's drow lips and she responded in kind with another fear spell. Then she shouted at the she-elf once more.

"Your attempts to kill what cannot be killed are humorous at best, she-elf, but the time draws near for you to do die! Accept your death proudly, elf, for resistance is futile!"

With that, the drow recoiled her whip as she rushed forward swiftly. She was a black blur amongst the blackness of the night, but a flash of silver revealed her intent in an instant as she reached the she-elf. Her dagger darted in and out constantly as she dodged and weaved first one way and then the other. She avoided attacks skillfully, she even more skillfully aimed that drow dagger of hers. Yes, she was a deadly combatant at the very least, but with the stronger shadow now bearing down on her as well, it would not be long before the she-elf lay dead upon the ground. The warrior fighting off the wargs was all but ignored now as Aradia's hatred reached its peak...

Raewyn - February 15, 2008 09:53 PM (GMT)
Raewyn couldn't beilive this. Just earlier she had been walking calmly in the forest and now she was being attacked by a drow and a shadow that couldn't be stopped by anyone. She jumped up and dove behind some rocks as the shadow lunged towards her. Even with her ears picking up any sounds Raewyn couldn't pick out where to drow was. She was moving to fast.

Again Raewyn was looking for her way out. All she saw was the waterfall and trees beside it. She jumped up out from behind the rock and ran towards the waterfall. She stopped as the edge and turned back toward the shadow that was now coming towards her again. Hoping it would gain enough speed and not be able to stop she jumpped up grabbing one of the limbs. Swinging herself up and over the limb. She watched the shadow as it reached the edge. At the moment she didn't care if it was going over or not. She just had to move. She flung herself into the air and hit the ground at a roll. She rolled herself behind a rock that was hidden by limps and leaves of on of the trees. As queit as she could be she waited for anynoise or sign.

Spider Princess - February 15, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
The shadow, to Aradia's great dismay, leaped to pin the she-elf and ended up diving into the water. The shadow would survive, of course, but the impact with which it hit the shadows under the water made it meld once more into the shadows. It once more returned to its own plane of existence, abandoning the drow completely. But Aradia was not a stupid drow. When the elf had fled, Aradia had let her.

By the time the she-elf had hit the ground, Aradia had already begun another spell. This time, though, she put the dagger away and pulled out something entirely different. As her spell was completed, a far more solid shadow appeared. This one was black-on-black, yet there seemed to be the slightest hint of a muscular outline. This one was even stronger and more powerful than the other one, and it was much faster. Indeed, it was a greater shadow - and while mundane weapons could not hurt it, even magic seemed to be absorbed into it. It still took damage, of course - but not much. The shadow was a blur as it whipped forward and its stamping foot only just missed the she-elf's head as she rolled across the open ground. It followed quickly, heading for the bushes. It, after all, was one with the shadows - and it knew exactly where the she-elf was hiding.

"You cannot win, she-elf! Admit defeat and I might be merciful! Otherwise, your death will be slow and painful! Surrender now and it shall be quick!"

She was lying, of course, but didn't all drow lie? After all, it was just another tactic used to attain victory. The object Aradia had withdrawn from her robes, though - that was most certainly no lie. While it might freeze the shadow as well, most likely the shadow would just meld back into the shadows and vanish. Aradia touched the tip of what looked like a long, jagged, and lethally sharp icicle with several equally deadly short barbs made of the same magical ice to the ground. Instantly, a spiderweb of frozen water snaked out and a sheet of ice formed where it touched. Aradia kept the wand where it was, but she moved quickly to avoid touching the effects of the ice itself. The ground around her, though, swiftly turned to a frozen death trap as the entire place started to freeze solid...

Raewyn - February 15, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
Raewyn saw another shadow and let out an exagerated breath. she had gotten rid of one already for now. DIdn't theese thing ever leave? She watched the shadow as it came closer to her but then it froze.... literally. Knowing this wasn't very good she climbed up on the limbs that had been sheilding her from the drow. However somthing held her from going to high. Her rangers cloak was caught on ice and slowly starting to freeze. unshetheing her dagger she cut the fabric that held her to the ground. When it finally cut she climbed farther up the tree.

"I will not give up Drow. I will not be deafeated!"

Spider Princess - February 15, 2008 10:50 PM (GMT)
Ah, yet the power of winter could not be so easily denied. Aradia had seen it twice in her time on the surface world and many times in the mountains since she'd left the Underdark. The ice and snow often chilled more than the world that spawned it: it chilled the souls of those that succumbed to easily to the depressing constant sight of it. Only the dwarves knew it well and loved it, and the barbarians who lived in it, but for Aradia it was just another tool, another weapon to use against her most hated enemies. As the ice swept across the clearing and reached the trees, the magic slowed and spiraled downward into the ground. The roots died as the ice took them, destroying them and yet preserving them forever - or at least until the ice melted, which in a place as shaded as this would not happen for days.

Yet, as predicted, the shadow melded back into the shadows from which it had been spawned. Aradia had trained in the last year to maneuver through her environment on the surface world, adapting to it and using it to her very great advantage. She did so now as she rushed foward and let the slick ice carry her smoothly and elegantly to the tree. She leaped forward and rolled into the treeline, touching the tree that the she-elf had scaled oh-so-recently as she did so. When she came up, ice was swiftly consuming the tree. It took the trunk in seconds and the branches soon began to follow. Several branches fell heavily to the ground as she watched with a cruel smirk of anticipatory glee. Aradia rose to her feet quickly and kicked against the tree several times very hard. The tree began to crack even as it continued to freeze. It would fall and shatter, she knew, hopefully crushing and slicing up the she-elf in the process...

Raewyn - February 15, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
Raewyn felt the tress shake as the ice froze the poor thing. Raewyn looked for a way out and saw the tree next to the one she was in. The Drow was below her kicking the tree. Raewyn sighed and leaped out at the tree she had seen. HEr hands came in contact with the limb as she swung around the limb. She had intended on landing on the limb and then jumping down but she didn't get as good grip as of grip as she thought. She swung over the limb and flew back at the drow. Her feet came in contact with the drow's back as Raewyn herself landed on her back.

"Well that didn't go as well as planned." she groaned as she got back to her feet.

Spider Princess - February 15, 2008 11:39 PM (GMT)
((Y'know...that's considered godmodding. <_< Might have gone with it if you'd worded it differently...not complaining or anything; just be careful how you write things in the future. ))

...or so the she-elf thought. Aradia watched and only just barely got out of the way, whirling to avoid the blow and coming around with her whip again. She struck out as her left arm came around, the whip flying out to strike at her as another weapon - her dagger - suddenly went flying straight toward the she-elf's head.

"DIE!" Aradia screamed in rage, now thoroughly hating this she-elf above all the others she had met in this wretched, drow-hating landscape.

So long had drow lived under the oppression of the surface elves that their hatred of them was complete. Indeed, they and the dwarves had pushed them to the Underdark in their hatred. The humans had allied themselves with the filthy bloodthirsty murderers as well, and the lot of them had manipulated the deep gnomes and many others against the once-proud ebony-skinned race. Soon, very soon, they would at last have their revenge - and this time, said revenge would not be some simple surface raid on a camp here or a city there. No, this time, the revenge would be all the sweeter. This time, their deaths would be permanent! Their enslaved souls would forever be tormented as they writhed and squirmed and screamed and squealed in terror and agony. Their endless turmoil and anguish would be at the hands of those they once called evil, the filthy surface-worlders! They would all die, and their souls would belong to Raku!

(( :o :o GAHHHHHH!!! I am so sorry I normally watch for that but didn't think about it this time sorry!!!! * begs forgiveness on hands and knees*))
Raewyn saw the dagger coming just in time to miss it by bending back. She saw the dagger stick in the tree behind her and heard the Drow yell..

"DIE!"

She looked from the dagger to the drow. "Uh... how about not?" She said sarcasticlly. She pulled the drow's dager out of the way and cast it onto the ice. She drew her sword and swung at the Drow hoping to draw the Drow's attention away from the fact she was moving back further and further into the wood Raewyn knew so well.

((Worship me and all is forgiven. ))

A mere inch below where the dagger struck, the whip cut through the not-so-tender bark of the oak Aradia had unintentionally struck. She cared little for the tree, however, and her whip was soon drawn back for another blow. Instead, though, the whip flew backward and slammed into the hilt of the dagger, flipping it into the air. Her whip seemed to disappear into thin air as she withdrew it back into her robes and raised her hand to catch the dagger in the air. She sheathed that as well and smiled as the girl retreated. Obviously, it was not at all a friendly smile, nor did it come anywhere near her eyes.

Aradia also slipped into the shadows of the forest, delving deeply into the darkness that she knew so well and slipping through the shadows the way a fish slipped through the waves under the surface of the ocean. She was truly one with the shadows as she moved and her boots made not a sound as she swept through the forest, a panther hunting a mouse. Yes, the she-elf knew the forest better than she did, but elves had only minimal vision in low-light areas. When there was no light, however - that was another matter entirely, and one Aradia was all too familiar with. To an elf, darkness was merely a fact of life; to a drow, though, it was a security blanket within a security blanket. To a drow, darkness was home. And so Aradia was practically nonexistent as she silently stalked the hated she-elf through her forest home...

Raewyn - February 16, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
((Worshiping!!! ))

Raewyn took off like lightning. She practiclly knew every tree in the forest and even though there was no light she still could weave in and out of the the trees limbs and trunks with grace. She had no clue where the Drow was and didn't care she was running. perferably away from the drow. He boots she wore crunched under the ground but she didn't again care Raewyn knew she had to get out of here and thats what she intened on doing..

Spider Princess - February 16, 2008 12:33 AM (GMT)
(( *Worshipped.* XD ))

Almost as swift, though slightly less surefooted, was Aradia as she sped through the forest after the she-elf. She leaped over exposed roots, ducked under low-hanging branches, weaved in and out of paths created by slim gaps between trees and bushes, and generally dodged what needed to be dodged as she pursued her quarry. There was no smile now on her masked face, though there was deep hatred and strong malice in her eyes as she chased after the hated surface elf. She would not escape Aradia so easily as that, for Aradia - though she knew underground passages far better than she did the forests of the surface world - would not let her go so easily. Indeed, Aradia was swiftly catching up to the she-elf. It wouldn't be long before a dagger would be planted between her shoulder blades and Aradia's work here would be done...

((Sorry for shortness.))

Raewyn - February 16, 2008 01:08 AM (GMT)
Raewyn could hear the foot steps of the Drow closing in on her. She jumped again and found herself in a tree. It seemed she had spent alot of time in trees anymore. She pulled out her bow and arrow and hid herself against the tree. She slid the arrow quietly in place and waited for the Drow sincerely hopping that she would make the wrong move but highly doubting that the Drow would. This Drow was smarter than most but Raewyn still could out smart her.

Spider Princess - February 16, 2008 01:15 AM (GMT)
Aradia was perhaps not the best one to be running swiftly through the forest whilst attempting silence. While in the caves the she-elf never would have heard her, her in the forest, Aradia's most silent footsteps seemed too loud for her ears. Yet as she was almost upon the she-elf, the she-elf took to the trees and Aradia ducked to the side. She heard an arrow being drawn from its quiver and a bow being strung as she leaped into the trees as well, her keen drow hearing guiding her to her opponent like a moth to the flame. The difference was that the she-elf was the moth and Aradia was the flame.

Aradia smiled as she crept quietly up on the she-elf, for once more silent than the elves of the forest as she practically crawled to within about a foot of her. Her hand went to her dagger and she drew it out slowly, silently reaching for her quarry. At last, this would be finished. At last, the she-elf would be dead; her blood would stain the forest and Aradia would celebrate. Yes, she would celebrate - by going to slaughter some humans.

Were it not for the air parted as Aradia struck, her blow would have been a clean one - completely silent and completely lethal. But it seemed that even nature itself was against her as Aradia whipped her hand forward, shoving the blade of the dagger through the air in a murderous attempt to finally sleigh the she-elf. Within seconds, it would plunge straight through her skull and kill her. She would be dead long before she ever hit the ground...

Raewyn - February 16, 2008 01:47 AM (GMT)
Raewyn heard the whistle of something cutting the air beside her and was able to move out of the way as a dagger from the drow came fro nowhere. She saw how close the drow was and coudn't belive she had let her get that close. Having no time to think she dropped her bow and the arrow she was holding and flung herself at the drow. She kne she had missed the dagger but the with the Drow beign so close it would be hard to miss her. Exactly what she didn't want. for her to miss the Drow.

Spider Princess - February 16, 2008 01:59 AM (GMT)
Aradia's dagger slammed into the tree, but she didn't have time to even scowl as the she-elf tackled her. The both of them flew through the air as they plummeted toward the ground almost fifty feet below them. Slamming through other branches and such slowed their fall, albeit painfully, but it did nothing to deter them from slamming hard into the ground with the she-elf on top of Aradia. Aradia, surprisingly, had somehow managed to retain the dagger and now rolled so that she was on top. She straddled the she-elf and raised the dagger up high over her head in both hands. She closed her eyes and began uttering a prary to Raku.

"Raku, my Master, Great Lord of Eternal Darkness, Epitomy of Evil, I beg of you to bless me this night as I strike down one who would defy your will! I give unto you this sacrifice. May it please you and may your mercy and grace descend upon me..."

Raewyn - February 16, 2008 02:17 AM (GMT)
Raewyn couldn't really get a good grip on anything as both her and the Drow fell to the ground. She fell on top of the drow and before she could do anything she the drow was on top of her uttering some type of prayer it sounded like. Raewyn rolled her eyes and grabbed the drows wrists to keep the dagger from fatally hitting her. She took her other hand and grabbed a handful of dirt the threw it at the Drows face, closing her own eyes slightly to keep the dirt from getting in her eyes.

Spider Princess - February 16, 2008 02:31 AM (GMT)
The drow finished the prayer even after her hands were pushed back, but she turned away quickly as the dirt was flung up. It hit her hood and crumbled down, sending dust settling back to the ground. Aradia pushed with all her might against the woman, desperately trying to plunge the dagger through her heart. By stabbing the she-elf through the heart, Aradia would be piercing the purest part of the she-elf's body, the source of all power and life. She would be sacrificing the utmost to Raku as she stabbed the she-elf - if she could just get the woman to hold still!

Starting to get desperate, though, she was about to pull out her winter wand again when her greater shadow showed up and reached for the she-elf's arms. Its intention was to pin her down, of course, so that Aradia could kill her - but Aradia decided to pull out the wand as a precautionary measure anyway. She did so, and she sent it flying down toward the she-elf's body as she continued trying to stab her. One way or another, this she-elf would die tonight...

Raewyn - February 16, 2008 02:44 AM (GMT)
RAewyn saw the shadow coming towards her. She however kept fighting the drow. She wouldn't lose tonight. Her life would be kept as simple as that. She saw the dirt didn't help either and let out and exagerated breath. Then the wand came.... She knew it would hit her because she couldn't get any way to it. He took her free hand and took her own dager and swung it towards the wand praying that it would hit it. She forced herself to keep pushing against the drow at all costs

Spider Princess - February 16, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
Aradia could not help but laugh at the futility of the strike. Indeed, the dagger hit it - only to slowly begin to be covered in a sheet of ice. Swiftly, the ice swept toward the hand that held it, threatening to do precisely what Aradia had meant to do in the first place. The shadow, meanwhile, grabbed the she-elf's arm and tried to wrest it away from Aradia's so that the dagger would drive itself into the heart of the soon-to-be victim now struggling so violently beneath the drow female.

As the night drug on, the fight had intensified. Now, though, things had come to the breaking point. As the shadow wrestled with the she-elf's defending arm and Aradia locked herself into mortal combat with her quarry, Aradia also began chanting once more. A wave of fear swept out from her as she finished her incantation, and this time the she-elf could not escape the spell...

Raewyn - February 16, 2008 03:14 AM (GMT)
Raewyn saw her dagger slowly begin to cover in ice and she dropped it. As the night came and went Raewyn began to get tired. She knew this wasn't good as the shadow and the drow struggled against her. She heard the chanting from the drow and knew this was bad also. She sighed and braced for the brunt as the spell hit her...

(( Sorry for the short reply I am not sure what the spell does))

Spider Princess - February 16, 2008 03:22 AM (GMT)
((Fear basically just makes those around the caster frightened. :) Ooh, wonder how this will end?! XD ))

The spell slammed into the she-elf hard, permeating every fiber of her being due to the close proximity. A shadow feels nothing, and so the fear would not have affected it even if it had been a lesser shadow, let alone a magic-resistant greater shadow. Aradia's grin broadened as she realized the she-elf was beginning to weaken. Soon Raku would have another to fill his bloodlust.

Aradia laughed again as the she-elf cast away the dagger and drove the jagged point of her winter wand straight down toward the she-elf's head once more.

"Die, she-elf," Aradia uttered in a harsh, deadly whisper.

Aradia continued pressing into the she-elf as the shadow continued struggling with her, both of them desperately trying to kill the woman...

Raewyn - February 16, 2008 03:34 AM (GMT)
THe fear spell worked...yes but not in the way the drow might have hoped. Raewyn's fear she would die tonight just intensified. It had been her fear of dieing tonight that drove her intensity to fight the drow and shandow. Raewyn began to twist and turn thrashing around harder than before trying to get the drow off her. Her dagger was at her side and her right hand found it while the othe held the drows dagger away from Raewyn's heart. She thrust the dagger upward towards the drow.
