Title: A Day of Peace
Dar'Vaeg - January 24, 2008 07:40 PM (GMT)
Arthur looked at the falls before him and sighed at its beauty. The way it fell off the rocka and the way the sunlight hit it just took your breath away. The surrounding area helped alot as well. The tree line and the plants growing around it added to its beauty. No matter how many times Arthru came here the beauty of the place just struck him. He eflt as if he belonged here as if he could live here forever. One day he might but now there was to much to do. He was here to rest and relax even half-dragons like him could use a little rest. Besides there was nothing much for him to do till summer came. The things that kept him active most of the year were either hiding away from the cold or waiting till spring came.
Arthur would let them wait as long as he could sit down and gaze at the beauty of the falls. Arthur sat back against a tree and said," Arthur this is the life, if only life could be like this always". That was the problem with life adventure neevr slept so it was hard for him to stay in one place when adventure was afoot. At least for now he could rest and relax. Arthur went put of his human form transforming into his draconic state to be more at ease. Arthur then laid back his head and closed hsi eyes just listenign to the sounds of nature.
Roncho the Troll - January 25, 2008 05:45 AM (GMT)
"TIME TO HIDE COWARD!!!" Roncho yelled out as he stalked through the forest for such a large bear he sure is a crafty one, Roncho thought as he looked for the bear. After several minutes he gave up, he never was that good at tracking and once he grappled a bear he would usually wrestle it until the bear broke the grapple and ran away or wan knocked out. He stopped for a moment, he looked around at the unfamiliar setting, "oh crap..." he muttered and he scratched his head and wondered which way he had come from. He wandered for a bit until he could hear the sound of running water, "water usually leads to a town" he thought to himself as he walked closer to the sound of water. He walked throughout the tree line to see a peaceful sight. Waterfalls before him, a small lake of water, but what caught Roncho's eye the most was the half dragon sitting at the lake, "by the god of nature's almighty bollocks, what is a kin of dragons doing here? he asked to himself as he walked over, trying not to startle him. "Oi, would you be able to help me out... I'm... well... kind of lost."
Dar'Vaeg - January 25, 2008 06:28 PM (GMT)
Arthur was jerked out of his meditation by the sound of a very gruff voice. Arthur looked and was a bit suprised to see a troll as the source of the voice. Arthur grumpled to himself somethign about people not leaving someone alone to their peace. Arthur then answered grumpily," You would be at a waterfall in the middle of a wood, a beautiful place of peace and meditation". He stressed the last two words with a hint of annoyance at the end. He knew it was not wise to anger trolls but Arthur was grumpy. He calmed himself down and said," Sorry about that, but you would be at Alunta falls, I belive near the Misty forest can't exactly remember though".
Arthur chuckled to himself a fat lot of help he was not beign able to remeber if Misty forest connected to Alunta falls. Of course he had neer really thought to care. He never thought he would be giving directions in here. Arthur then said," If yo uwant out, its about 5 miles north, 10 miles west, and 6 miles north again, unless you want to take the short cut, which is 6 miles north".
Roncho the Troll - January 25, 2008 11:29 PM (GMT)
Roncho listened to the half dragon's directions, "you know you don't sound too sure about those directions..." He tried not to sound too annoyed by the half dragon's tone. He knew it was not wise to anger half dragons but he wanted to be sure that he would be heading the right way. He wondered why there would be something like that just sitting here at the waterfall. Dragons, by what his villages folklore told of guarded massive hordes of treasure, maybe something carried over to half dragons Roncho was not too sure about it but he decided to ask anyway, "Say what is a half dragon doing here by a lake anyways, that does not seem like something the kin of dragons would be doing?" Roncho asked and hoped he wouldn't get angered by the question, Roncho hated being burned by flames, It was a troll thing.
Dar'Vaeg - January 25, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
Arthur chuckled at the troll of course it was right he did not seem sure. Then again many people would not give proper directions to a troll, he guessed thats what trolls and his kind shared in comparison. Arthur sighed and answered the trolls question," Ah but not all dragons are alike, every dragon is diffrent in the way they do things, me I was raised in a woodland area, so I feel most peace here, besides even I need to rest".
Arthur eyed the troll again taking it in making sure he could see no threat and Arthur stood up and stretched his limps and yawned a bit. He stood in dragon form at least two feet taller than the troll, which suprised him a bit he had never been so close to a troll before so that made the diffrence. Arthur smiled and said," I coudl ask the same question of you of course, I don't see trolls far from mountains, so I ask the same thing you asked me".
Roncho the Troll - January 26, 2008 12:48 AM (GMT)
The half dragon stood up, at first he didn't realize how tall a half dragon could be. Roncho gave out a hearty laugh before answering the question, "AHAHAHAH, people give me weird looks when I tell them this but I willingly traveled to the human lands, and well... I just decided to stay." He scratched the back of his head, at the thought. He began to think about what he said, raised in the forrest eh? Thats odd but there are different dragons like there are different trolls. "oh and if you think I'm here to grind yer bones or something like that don't give it a second thought, I was hunting this bear see, I like to wrestle them, and well... he ran away and then I tried to follow them but ended up here." He felt stupid for his reason for wandering her and disturbing this half dragon while he rested, Roncho hoped that the half dragon would be understanding, when it came to the topic of trolls not many are...
Dar'Vaeg - January 26, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
Arthur smiled at the troll and chuckled at what the it said. Arthur was the same way, he willingly traveled human lands if for his own reasons. He quessed he shared a few thigns in common with the troll. Arthur then said," You and me both, I don't like the life of a loner, I like company every now and then, and humans are interesting companions". Arthur chuckled at that, they were interesting they changed easier than most races did and their ability to adabt was astounding. Of course Arthur knew all this he was part human himself.
Arthur gave a quiet laugh at the troll mentioning wrestlign a bear and Arthru said," Nay, I did not think that, I just am cautious, caution has saved my life to many times to count, and as for wrestling a bear we all have our hobbies, but I can see why the bear would run away". Arthur laughed to himself for that and continued by saying," I'd do the same if I was the bear, fear for my life, I don't expect your to gentle with them".
Roncho the Troll - January 27, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
Roncho let out a hearty laugh, he was starting to like this half dragon, he was a kind person. "Yea, humans are interesting people, they make good beer though. But I can't arm wrestle them, I tried once, broke his arm, that was one hell of a day." Roncho thought back to the cliffs of his homeland, the shanty town that no-one ever visited, probably because there was well over 2 dozen trolls living there. Inside Roncho really didn't know why he ever came here to the human lands, but once he got there he just stayed. Turned around and saw a stump of a tree, and took a seat, "I've rarely been a cautious person, I take life by the horns, and its gotten me in the human lands. Its given me more than a fair share of cuts and bruises, but its given my enemies more." He gave a hearty laugh at the thought of what he has accomplished in his short time here.
Barras Rike - January 31, 2008 04:39 AM (GMT)
They were an odd pair to be sure, especially in such a place as this, but he had seen odder things in his studies back at the library he always studied at. Thus, Barras didn't really pay much attention to the pair right at the moment. His Master had sent him to fetch some things for a powerful spell he was going to attempt, the orchestration of which was very complex and required a great many things. Most of the things he had, but there were a few things he didn't and some things he was out of. That, of course, was where Barras came in.
As an Apprentice, his task wasn't merely to learn the ways of the arcane arts. But then, was it ever that way for an Apprentice of any trade? He had to keep the library clean and organized, sure, but now that he had begun to learn magic and had gotten beyond the basics - indeed, his Master had recently told him he'd grown powerful more quickly than most did, a clear indicater that he was highly intelligent even if he didn't have any common sense or any kind of a sense of balance - he was also charged with keeping the supplies topped off.
That's why he was out gathering mushrooms for his Master in such a distant place from the library. He had gathered quite a large supply of over a dozen different kinds of mushrooms and several different types of roots, plants, and other such things, but he still hadn't managed to find the bluespore mushrooms. Finally, though, he spotted some - and frowned. His Master hadn't yet taught him how to teleport, yet the patch of mushrooms he was looking for was sitting on a rock outcropping in the middle of the lake nearby. Really, it was more of a pond - but it was a deep pond filled by a waterfall with a small river running off of it that led to a much larger pool with two more waterfalls filling that. Then there were other rivers and such running off of that, of course, but not within sight of where Barras now stood. He stared at the mushrooms for a moment, trying to figure out how he was going to get them. It was the only patch he'd seen all morning.
Dar'Vaeg - February 5, 2008 04:58 PM (GMT)
Arthur smiled he liked this troll. It had an interesting personality. Even if his kind and trolls sometiems did not get along. Arthur seemed to find this troll an interesting character. Arthur then said," Yeah well thats why I don't arm wrestl humans in dragon form, and in human, just to powerful". Arthur laughed at that and shook his head. Arthru then wondered at the troll he wasn't cautious that was interesting. Most trolls he had meet were cautiosu and did not trust anyone but their own kind. It was liek dragons but diffrent. Arthur then said," Well we each have a diffrent appraoch to life, of course I have my share of firends, but I have a good many enemies, there are no shortage of them". Arthur then smelled something that smelt almost humanish but the scent passed away quickly and Arthur then said," Of course I got my enemies from vengence, use to be an evil dragonsalyer before I retired, so I stil lgot a few evil dragosn after my head".
Barras Rike - February 5, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
After pondering the situation for a bit, Barras finally started searching for another patch. He found none, but he did find a small bridge. Unfortunately, it was out - but it apparently led to some kind of cave. Now he was irritated. Not only could he not finish his collection, he was now seeing another troll. Was this one going to think he'd be a good meal, too? He glared at the troll as if it were his fault.
He sighed exasperatedly and continued his fruitless search for another patch of the mushrooms. His search inevitably drew him closer and closer to the troll, who was apparently talking with a half-dragon by their conversation. Indeed, bits and pieces of their conversation were beginning to carry over to Barras' ears. He began to get more and more irritated until he finally drew within about a hundred feet of them. Popping out from behind a rock outcropping, thus making himself visible to the pair, he sat down on a rock and rested for a few moments.
He offered a sidelong glance to the two but didn't say anything. He wasn't about to ask for help, either. The troll seemed surprisingly intelligent, but even if he wasn't as stupid or mean as his kin, there was no way he'd be able to get the mushrooms without crushing them. And half-dragons were notorious for not having any affinity at all for water, so he seriously doubted that he would have been able to help even if Barras had wanted his help. He stared at the ground, thinking about the situation.
