Title: Sunlight and shadows
Fang - January 8, 2008 11:43 PM (GMT)
Xuvin Firefingers made his way from one shadow to another; his eyes so accustom to the dark winding caverns and tunnels of the underdark, watered non-stop. The drow squinted to keep as much of the terrible sunlight out of the blue orbs, as possible. "Why would any one chose to live under a giant fireball." He muttered to himself not for the first time in the past few weeks he cursed the dark goddess of spiders as well as him self for the dumb idea of coming to the surface. Not only did the sun burn his eyes and his skin, Xuvin could also fell his magic waning, the power he had for eighty some years, was leaving his body. He cursed again and kicked a small rock.
As the sun fell from the sky and the harsh golden light was changed to a soft silver glow, the same light that had lead him out of the underdark, he could open his eyes wider. The moonlight was filtered through the emerald broughts of the trees, most were a bland brown color, some were white but all looked beautiful under the light of the full moon. Beauty was not unknown to the drow, they admired beauty just as much as their fun loving surface cousins, and they could appreciate it, although most would not admit it.
In his first few weeks on the surface Xuvin learned how to use the noises of the forest as indicators of what was ahead, there was always and insects chirping or a bird singing unless some one or some thing was ahead. Lost in his thoughts he did not notice that this very thing was happing at the moment, there was no noise except for the soft footfalls of the drow wizard.
Once the drow realized that there were no more forest sounds coming from the high braches around him, he pulled his sword from the sheath on his back and went into a defensive crouch. The drow wizard also tried to call upon his magic, and frowned darkly for the first time in eighty-four years, the spells eluded him. "Just me and you." he said quietly to the sword in his hand as the light blue orbs darted around. Every shadow seemed to hold an enemy, every tree a monster. His heart beat so loud he was sure, every one within miles of the forest could hear its rhythmic beat, the blood pounded in his ears, as his muscles tensed. "What’s out there." he whispered, his voice tinted with fear, he had never fought without the aid of magic before.

The elven archer moved quickly through the woods, weaving through the trees that provided some shade from the sun overhead. Crystal blues eyes scanning the area, she continued forward. Her destination, unknown. All the archer knew was that she had to keep going, where ever she was supposed to go. She guessed that in time her purpose would show itself, but for the moment Malkari simply ran through the woods as the sun declined gradually in the sky. A few times she stopped, listening for something, anything, but nothing had happened, nothing had shown. By the time night had fallen, the elf had stopped and was resting against a tall oak tree, watching water move slowly in a small stream a few feet in front of her. Her bow lay at her feet, arrows resting in the quiver that hung lightly from her shoulder.
Just as she had started to get relaxed, she could hear someone or something moving. As it seemed to get closer, she cautiously reached for her bow with one hand, the other resting at the feathers of one her arrows. She raised to her feet, she knocked the arrow should something show itself and attack. Moving towards the source of the sound until it was unnervingly close, she got up the nerve to call out cautiously,
"Anyone out there?"
Fang - January 10, 2008 03:44 AM (GMT)
The drow turned his head as an elf, a tall female strode into the area from a thick covering of trees, bow held high and arrow knocked. Would she shoot if he showed himself, there was no way he attack her with his sword, as soon as he broke cover brandishing his sword she would start pumping arrows into him.
The tall elf called out in common "Anyone out there?" Her voice was musical, and pleasing to listen to. Taking a deep breath Xuvin sheathed his sword, and stepped into view.
The drow's light blue eyes looked the elf up and down, as he held his open hands in front of himself palms facing down, a universal sign showing he was unarmed.

((OOC: Sorry for lateness and shortness, meant to post yesterday but computer died on me))
As the drow came into sight, palms down and sword sheathed, Malkari stopping in her tracks and lowered her bow; though keeping her hand hovering over the knock of the arrow, in case he should grab at it suddenly and attack. Most likely nothing of the sort would happen, but better safe then sorry, eh? Giving the drow a small, cautious smile, she lowered her bow a bit more.
The elf's dark blue eyes connected with the drow light blue eyes for a moment before she broke the gaze, glancing around to make sure there weren't any others accompanying the drow in front of her. Slowly, when no attacks came, she lowered the bow completely and let her other arm go limp at her side. What happened now? Who would break the silence first?
Fang - January 12, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)
Xuvin looked at the tall elf maiden, and let his hands drop to his sides imitating the woman's stance. "Hello, who might you be?" he called out, the rough words of the common tongue felt cumbersome rolling out of his mouth. He longed to use the more musical language to drow spoke, but very few surface dwellers could speak it.
The drow waited to see if the other elf would answer his question, at least she's not hostile, he thought to himself. A soft wind blew threw the forest rustling the leaves on the tree causing a few to fall between the two elves.
Malkari - January 13, 2008 04:07 AM (GMT)
With the tension beginning to fade, the drow was the first to say something, inquiring the elf's name. His voice sounded as if he did not normally use that form of language, and the elf was not surprised. She had heard the musical tongue of the drows once, and she was simply glad he was able to speak in a way she could understand.
"Malkari Hitoride... and you?"
A small grin formed on the elf's face as the wind rustled through the trees, blowing her hair around as it pleased. Eyes scanning over the drow, she waited for his response, glad that he hadn't attacked head first. It would have been a shame to waste the day in such a manner.
Fang - January 14, 2008 12:24 AM (GMT)
The moonlight played off of the tall elven maiden’s skin making her seem to glow. Then she spoke, "Malkari Hitoride... and you?" The wind moved her hair. The dark elf took a deep breath, and said "Xuvin Firefingers at your service ma'am." with that said he bowed.
Xuvin moved to close the gap between the two elves, as he walked forward he asked "What are you doing out here?" the drow knew why he was on the move a small group of drow hunters followed him to the surface, he was running.

((OOC: Sorry for uber fugging late reply, school ish evil.))
As Xuvin introduced himself and closed the distance between them, Malkari scanned over the dark elf in front of her. She hadn't heard much about the Moriquendi, as almost none of them surfaced to be in the sunlight. She began wondering why he had come onto land in the first place, rather then staying underground in the darkness. Suddenly, something pushed that to the back of her mind. Though she had only met one drow before when she was very young, she had heard stories. Their skill with a scimitar was apparently superb, and most were... evil, supposedly. With the distance closing in and him in swinging distance, she couldn't help but slightly tighten her grip on her bow handle, though hopefully the small muscle twitch wouldn't be noticed by the dark elf.
"What are you doing out here?"
'What AM I doing here?' She asked herself, pondering it for a moment. She hadn't really thought about it, she had just sort of...come. She supposed it would turn out how it always did, moving from place to place, not staying in any particular area for very long.
"Well, I'm really just passing through... how about yourself?"
Fang - January 23, 2008 01:11 PM (GMT)
OOC sorry for it being late and so short.
The dark elf nodded and ecepted the tall elf's answer, "Same as you, i guess just passing through." he replied to the female's question. Ten asked one of his own "Where are you going?"
Trying to get out of this forest she would know the way, Xuven had been wandering around this forest for three days with no sign of it stopping.

((OOC: Sorry for shortness))
"The Village of Estolad, it shouldn't be far from here."
That was it. Thinking back, she had remembered hearing about the village, and if she had calculated correctly, then it shouldn't be far from where they were. She had tracked plenty of things through these forests in the past few days, and had learned pretty much the layout of the woods. The exit was close, which would have her end up in the grasslands, and from there she could find the path to the village.
"How about you? Maybe it's on the way."
Fang - January 29, 2008 01:14 PM (GMT)
Xuvin had only heard of Estolad once, was it a village, or a city the dark elf was deep in thought. Mabye it would be worthy of his time. "Would mind if I joined you?" the drow asked he was tierd of walking through these woods.
This is the perfict chanse to lose them, the others wouldn't follow him into the grasslands, with no trees to shade their eyes they would be almost blind. Xuvin had had a few weeks to get used to the sun.
The dark elf looked the tall elf woman up and down she had sharp facial features, and a slim body, like all elven people. She also held her bow like she knew how to use it.
Malkari - January 31, 2008 02:03 AM (GMT)
"The more the merrier."
Malkari replied with a smile to the dark elf's question. It had grown somewhat tiresome, traveling alone almost all of the time... maybe some company to the village wouldn't be half bad. Still, she wondered what a drow would be doing, running around in the sunlight. From what she had heard, drows hated the sun, preferring to stick to the shadows and darkness. Had he been banished, or simply looking for a new way of life to differ himself? Ah, who knew. She mentally shook the thoughts away and started walking toward the lightest area of the woods. It either meant a clearing or the exit, and even if it was just a clearing, most of them contained a small river or stream, which would most likely lead them to town.
"Follow me."
Fang - February 9, 2008 02:26 PM (GMT)
Xuven noden and followed the tall elven female, as they walked, the wind picked up and the sky darkend, even though he had only been on the surface for a short time the dark elf could feel the mostier in the air. The pair walked in silence, until they reached the end of the woods. The trees parted and opened up into a large plan with low rolling hills. "So where do we go from here?" the drow asked.
Malkari - February 11, 2008 10:21 PM (GMT)
Sky darkening, Malkari felt the need to move quicker so as to reach the village before it became far too dark and they became available prey to say, a pack of wolves, but they soon reached the grasslands. At the drow's question, Malkari scanned the area, the increased eye sight elves were gifted with coming in handy. After moving forward a few more yards, she caught sight of a small path in the distance.
"Over here."
Making her way toward the path, Malkari slung her bow over her shoulder, near certain that if the drow hadn't made any moves back there, then he wouldn't as they neared civilization. The tiny path soon widened and flattened into a dirt road exiting the grasslands, and in the distance, tops and roofs of buildings could be seen. Oh, what will she find this time?
