Title: The Era of Death
Description: Open
Era - January 2, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)
The green-blue waves crashed onto the beach again and again, as it had been for countless eras, the water waxing and waning like the celestial globe that so controlled the surging water. And when the waves broke, drawing back once more, they deposited something much more unusual than the usual fare of oceanic debris and seaweed; Era had returned.
The demon certainly looked the part; his clearly unnatural skin – a moderate blue and hairless as an egg – included gills in his cheeks and webbed fingers and toes - was dripping with water, soaking the sand beneath him. His sharp, pointed ears quivering, Era swiveled his pupil-less eyes around, mentally establishing the time of day – time had no hold on the abysses littered beneath the ocean, where the sun might as well have been perpetually dark. Around four o’ clock in the afternoon, decided Era, relishing in the hours of pleasure laying directly in front of him.
As his eye fell on a small band of humans, simply enjoying the beautiful day, they noticed the water demon too. And the carnage began with their shrill screams. such cowards Thought the creature from hell, deciding to rid the land of Arda, of such lazy, spineless fools. Once he had finished with them, thought Era with relish. The era of humans tarnishing the land, the creature of the same name knew, and so he advanced on the cowering humans.
(Ok, ok, I know. Bad post, but I rally arn't in the feel of this char yet. So don't shoot! *Flees*)
Dain Coalfrost - January 2, 2008 03:22 AM (GMT)
Dain wandered along the beach, waves crashing at his feet. His feet felt rather uncomfortable, for sand had managed to sneak it's way into his boots. He did his best to ignore it. It would certainly take much more than irritated feet to ruin the day.
And what a day it was! The sun was shining, the sky was clear. Dain wasn't one of the types of people to really appreciate that kind of thing, but it was pleasant nontheless. Others were out enjoying the day as well, humans that had traveled from Lomedor to take a stroll along the shore. Dain exchanged greeting to those who he passed, but generally avoided conversation with them. He had traveled out here for a relaxing walk, not to socialize.
He sighed as he considered the past few days. His studies were going well, but still, his magical skill was slim. He didn't know what he wasn't comprehending, but perhaps if he just worked a little harder, he might be sucessful? If that is the case, though, he thought, frowning, then why am I out here wasting time?
He forgot his musings for a moment as he glanced up. A large group of humans weren't that far ahead of him, smiling around at the surroundings. They seemed entirely oblivious to anything but the ocean, which they gazed at as though it was the most amazing thing they had ever seen. They must be tourists from some landlocked place, Dain thought, examining them. They were just a bunch of commoners, not a single weapon on them.
As he walked nearer to them, he suddenly stopped, unconciously reaching his hand down towards his staff. Something had washed ashore...and it didn't look pleasant. It was no fish, and not a mermaid. So then...what? Dain gripped his staff tightly and ran towards the humans.
The strange creature stood up, and upon seeing the humans, began to advance on them. Dain could see a threat behind the movement, and quickly took a step towards the beast. Twirling his staff in his hands, he addressed the creature, speaking his words carefully.
"I don't know if you can understand this language, but if you can, I warn you now. Do no harm to these beings. If you attempt to hurt any of them, I'll be forced to fight..." As he spoke to it, he examined it, trying to figure out what it was. Some kind of demon? If that was the case, the thing would be driven by bloodlust, and would probably attack without hesitation.
Why in the name of the gods did I ever come out here? he asked himself, waiting for the monster's reaction.
Era - January 2, 2008 03:36 AM (GMT)
Quizzically, Era paused for a moment, raising his nonexistent eyebrows. This…Weak human was challenging it? Era did not speak the language of these people, but the meaning was clear; harm them and the mage would step into action. The demon, highly amused, gave a strange, crackly laugh, not quite believing that this human – who was no warrior – would dare challenge him, a far superior race. Well then, Era would simply have to take care of the mage first, before it went on with eradicating the other humans. They would attempt to flee, most likely, but no matter; there were other fish in this sea full of mayhem and destruction just waiting to happen.
It was to be admitted, Era was far from the most physically strongest of his kind, but Era had no doubt he was far stronger than the weak human. For some reason however – perhaps arrogance – Era chose not to simply claw his eyes out, or slice him open with his claws, but instead simply tried to pick the mage up, suspecting little to no resistance. If he could pick him up, the water demon planned to chuck him into the ocean for the sharks. Well, unless the mage was even MORE incompetent than he looked – and to Era, he already looked quite foolish – the mage would escape the gentle waves of today, but not without difficulty; after all, the mage’s garment shad to be heavy, and when soaked were liable to weigh him down.
So, slowly, mockingly, complete with a wide, grotesque smile, filled with malice, the water demon tried to pick the human up.
Pyrokinetic - January 2, 2008 04:19 AM (GMT)
The falcon flew above the world, engulfed in a fire that burned like an oven. It shrieked with malice, warning the mortals of there coming demise. Flames would soon cover everything and Arda would become a new sun. It streaked the blue sky like a comet, flames whipping behind causing a trail of smoke. It watched the foliage below, monkeys swinging in the trees as the soft breeze rustled there leaves. Soon it would burn, yet Pyro could not do it alone.
There was a water demon coming and although the elemental despised the filthy liquid, this creature wanted much the same as Pyro. It wanted to kill everything and everyone. This would be handy for the moment every mortals life had been taken, the fire elemental would finish the job by burning everything, including the ocean which would dissipate under the heat of the flames. The beach was Pyros destination and he could see the ocean not far ahead. The sound of burning wood and the smell of death overtook the falcons fiery thoughts as he slowly descended towards the canopy. The patriotic element would make sure the demon helped him destroy, and he was sure the water lover would take his help.
Pyro could see him on the beach, the bulky abomination visibly bloodthirsty as he advanced on a group of humans. The falcon nose-dived towards the scene, ready to see blood spilled. A human had been brave enough to stand up to the beast. Pyro was close enough to hear his words, yet they meant nothing to it.
"I don't know if you can understand this language, but if you can, I warn you now. Do no harm to these beings. If you attempt to hurt any of them, I'll be forced to fight..."
The elemental landed on the beach behind the scared humans, the falcons fiery claws hitting the sand without a sound. The flames morphed into an atani female, her features invisible due to the dense flames surrounding her. While the demon was opposing the staff-wielding human, Pyro would burn the humans until there bones turned to dust. The elemental wasn't evil for it didn't understand hate, mercy or even compassion. The only thing it understood was the flames. It would do anything for the flames without a moments hesitation.
So the humans burned, there skin melting under Pyrokinetics onslaught. They didn't realise the elemental was there so they had no idea where the flames came from. There first reaction was to jump into the ocean, there chilling screams too much for the wildlife as birds flew far away and insects burrowed under the sand. The flames were hypnotizing, the beautiful element burning the humans to death. Unfortunately they saved there bones by reaching the water, although that might not be enough to save there lives.
The Atani was disappointed yet happy that she had attacked them with the flames. Anger besieged her as the water killed the fire, for it was like cutting off a humans leg in comparison. Yet she was not fazed, setting fire to a tree and watching as the smell of smoke filled the air. This was just the beginning of the death of Arda.
