Title: The Red Moon

Nobunaga Oda - December 22, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
the night was different than any other nights. Normally nights were peaceful and calm but tonight something sinister was out there. The moon was bloodshot red, which could only signal one thing, death. Sitting in lomedor that night, a few screams could be heard in the distance. Screams, yelling, and wild grunts can be heard. Nobunaga was in a room he had rented from an inn keeper and decided to investagate on the screams a little. He rose from his comfortable bed and threw on his armor and strapped on his weapons and off he went.

After mere seconds he found out what all the ruckus was. It was a pack of blood thirsty Orcs. They were slaughtering everyone and everything in sight. One of the orcs spotted Nobunaga and in a blind rage attacked him. Nobunaga quickly reacted and brought the big beast down with such ease. The only problem with the killing that one orc, was that all the other orcs turned and spotted Nobunaga. Now nobunaga was a masterful warrior but fighting an army of Orcs would be the dumbest thing that Nobunaga could do.

After getting away and waiting for the morning to come by Nobunaga woke up only to fund himself surrounded by a crowd of people. News of his slaying of an orc quickly spread through the town and all the townsmen wanted the aid of Nobunaga. People yelled at their losses and cheered for nobunaga and his skillfulness. Finally the people of lomedor gave nobs an offer he couldnt refuse. An amount of gold so vast for an easy job that he eagerly accepted.

The orc's were more than likely affected by the red moon but what ever the case may be, it lead nobunaga all the way to the land of the dead. He suddenly got a bad feeling but still kept moving. Nightfall was mere hours away and the town said they would send additional help but nobody came yet. Hopefully someone would, so that nobunaga didnt have to throw his life away, he could throw someone else's away. Nobunaga sat under a nearby tree and waited for more help before he went further with his mission. Someone better come or he would be angry.

Star Dust - December 22, 2007 07:51 PM (GMT)
When Stella passed Lómëdor, she was right away surrounded by a group of people of talk of Orcs. Stella listened, wide eyed. It seemed a great warrior had gone to hunt down the beasts on their behalf. Stella nodded in the right times, then rose her hands to silence there endless babble. She all went quiet, listening to her every word.

"I will aid him. Which was did he go?" They pointed, and Stella nodded, and began to walk. Soon she found herself in the land of the dead. It was silent, and the air was thick with the smell of rotting flesh. Stella gagged, but soon became used to it. In front of her was a man sat under a tree. Stella assumed this was the saviour, and walked over.

"Hello." Stella said gravely, watching as he woke. She stared at him intently. He looked strong, that could come to her advantage. She looked around. "I'm told i can find Orcs here... i wish to slay them." She went on. She hoped she could find them soon, she was quite excited about this battle, it had been a long time wince her magic had come into real use. Now would be her chance to prove to everyone that her taking a form on this earth would be a good thing. That she can help them.

Winter - December 22, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
Winter had been living rough ever since the day she'd been accused of murder. She'd been forced to flee the city of Lomedor, leave her priest of balance behind and go into hiding. How long had it been now? A week? Perhaps two, Winter hadn't even been counting from the beginning. However long she'd spent out here one thing was certain, she wasn't going to be able to go back to Lomedor for a while, until she found the real murderer she would be unable to return without the whole of Lomedor guard surrounding her. They knew what she was capable of and they wouldn't be taking any chances with her. Winter's arm still bore the scars left from that day, a tight bandage was wrapped about it, concealing the burn underneath.

Winter had barely managed to escape without using up all her mana, she wasn't a magic using species in the first place and only had mana thanks to the goddess Threnody's blessing, and that wasn't enough for her rely on it too much. She leaned back against the rock she was leaning against and let out a heavy sigh. She knew Shari was okay, she and Winter had been using the golden harrier, Shisha, to relay messages to each other. The bird was an expert messenger and wasn't likely to get caught by the guard so it was safe to use her. Winter finished what she was writing and rolled it up before tying it to the bird's leg.
"Fly safe," She said and the bird flew off.
Winter followed the bird's progress and as she did so glanced up at the sky. Her eyes widened slightly as she saw the red moon shining above them.
A red moon? She thought What's going to happen?

Winter lay down to sleep, her dreams haunted by lightning and blood. A sudden pain flowing through her back and the smell of burning feathers. Despite this nightmare, Winter woke fairly calmly the next morning. The event with the knight last week had been too close to that other time. She glanced at the wings on her back, far too small to grant her any means of flight.
The last time I tried to fly was that day, she remembered.
She looked up and saw Shisha returning, a note suspended from her leg. Winter received the bird and took the note.

Winter

Do not worry, but I'm sure you saw the red moon last night. I appears that a band of orcs went crazy over it, we had a hard time fighting them off, I'm afraid to say I took some rather unfortunate measures in order to help fight them off. They've sent a warrior in search of the orcs to destroy them, there may be more of the guard on their way too, please be careful.

~Shari

"Shari," Winter muttered "What did you do?"
She sent the bird off again and began wandering through the plains. If her geography was correct, she should be somewhere near the land of the dead. The land here was certainly dead enough to be that place, and the smell in the air wasn't giving her any high hopes. She looked around, almost sensing that somebody else was there.
Did the warrior come all the way out here? She thought.
She turned around and saw a lone orc, a large gash on his shoulder and a split jaw.
"What happened to you?" Winter asked.
The orc didn't answer, but merely collapsed from exhaustion. Winter bent down to examine him.
"Could this be the result of the red moon?" She thought.
She looked up and saw that night was fast approaching.
Is there going to be another one tonight? She thought What'll happen this time?

Sargtlin Olath - December 22, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
Sargtlin had been keeping himself occupied in the Drital Qu'ellar, having people wanting to hire someone like him, a bounty hunter. As he sat on a creaky wooden stool, he rested his hand on the hilt of his newly procured sword which he had lovingly name Barra. His mind wasn't concentrating on any specific, for he was only relaxing at the moment, hoping to take advantage of time to do what he pleased. Being a bounty hunter had some advantages as he had found throughout the years of his occupation, and some significant disadvantages. As his thoughts were drifting through the realm of his mind, he was suddenly shaken back to reality back the loud noise of a crowd talking outside.
"Do they have to be so loud?" he thought, standing up and checking his gear. After he had stood up, he quickly made his way out the door of that filthy pub, making his way towards the commotion. He quickly found it, a crowd that had gathered to talk of some man that had gone off to kill a band of Orcs.
"One Human, eh?" he thought, not regarding the man as courageous, but as foolish. Suddenly a woman among the crowd raised her hands to silence the crowd before speaking.

"I will aid him. Which was did he go?"

He was surprised at this as well, for she didn't particularly look like a warrior. He saw the crowd point in the direction the man had traveled, and watched her start to travel along there. He waited a minute, contemplating his next move. He didn't want to risk his life, but he did and followed after her at a good distance so that she wouldn't notice him.

After a ways of following her, she stopped to talk to a man, whom he assumed was the man talked about. He couldn't make out what she said, but he slowly walked towards the pair. He recognized the place they were, for he had had a desperate fight there before, it was the Land of the Dead.
"Greetings, both of you, I guess it's safe to say that you two are here to kill some Orcs?" he said to them as he walked towards them.

Nobunaga Oda - December 22, 2007 09:31 PM (GMT)
Nobunaga stood up as nightfall finally fell over the forest and the helpers finally came. To his surprise however, one of them seemed slightly inferior to him. It doesn't matter, this was who they sent to help then this would be what would be. The normal red tint finally fell upon the forest as the red moon came out and illumined the ground. The ground didn't look misty anymore though, it looked as if it was blood everywhere. Suddenly nobunaga fell to his knees as his chest became inflamed in pain for some reason. It seems as though this moon attacks the evil in some hearts, while others it doesn't.

A series of loud grunts and groans escaped the lips of nobunaga as he became quickly blood enraged and blood thirsty. His eyes turned from a red color to a pitch dark color and the veins coursing trough his body poked out of his body. He drew his swords and stood up slowly looking at the people that Lomedor sent to aid him. He looked at them with an intention to kill but quickly ran off before harming them as he heard sounds deeper in the woods.

He ran and ran until he found the opening in the forest where there was a large group of Orcs waiting and feasting on other dead animals. Nobunaga's blood thirsty state of mind caused by the moon sent him into instant action as he ran right up to the nearest orc and hacked his head off using the Shadow Lightning Blade. The orc let out a loud scream and then silence as he died and the others stopped what they were doing. The sound was quickly disrupted as Nobunaga had let out a loud battle cry of his own. His roar was long and loud and would have frightening the strongest of fighters but these orcs didnt back down and neither would Nobunaga. This had just gotten hard for everyone for now stealth was out of the question. It was now all out bloodshed from this moment on. Nobunaga Loved it.

Star Dust - December 22, 2007 09:52 PM (GMT)
Stella watched as the man fell to the ground, twitching slightly, and letting out pa infilled grunts. "Are... Are you okay?" She asked, as he stood. His eyes where black, almost chilling. He stared at them, before taking off into the woods. Stella stared after him confused. What happened.

She stood uncertainty, unsure what to do. The birds escaped the trees as a scream echoed the land. Orcs. Not even thinking about what she was doing, Stella took off after him. Her feet pounded the earth, her breath coming out in short bursts. She came to a stop after nearly tripping over a orc's head. She grimmance, sidestepping, then stared at the scene.

The man was hacking away at the beasts, his body pumped up. Stella gasped, and a few orc's close to her turned her way. She jumped to action. "FLOAT." She shouted, pointing her wand at the sky. She ascending upwards, just above them. They roared, and she jumped further to action.

She rose her hand at the sky, and closed her eyes. "ACENDO!" She yelled, and brought her hand down in a sweeping action. The sky was alight with about 50 pebble sized stars falling down upon her. They rained down on the Orc's heads, killing two, and knocking 4 unconscious. Stella grinned, and her floating spell wore out, causing her to once again stand on the ground.

Winter - December 22, 2007 10:16 PM (GMT)
Winter knelt by the orc, watching him as he slowly came to. The green-skin looked up at Winter and she saw that one of his eyes was bleeding.
"T-the moon," he coughed "I couldn't control it, it made me go mad. It burned, we had to destroy."
He coughed again and a large amount of blood gushed from his mouth.
"I suppose you're going to kill me now, huh?" He said "For what I've done."
"Why would I do that?" Winter asked, confused.
The orc looked up at her.
"Even if I killed you, I will achieve nothing," Winter explained "You're death will not repair the damage you caused, it will not heal the wounds you've inflicted, it will not return the people you've killed. So what's the use in killing you?"
"You're not going to kill me?" The orc said in disbelief.
"I have no reason to," Winter said "You've made no enemy of me."

The clouds above her parted and a red hue suddenly fell over the land. Winter's eyes widened as she stared down at her own scarlet hands. She looked up and saw the moon had become red again. A sudden cry from the orc alerted her and she stepped backwards. The orc was screaming, his eyes had become black and Winter could sense chaos throwing his mind into disorder.
The red moon, she thought So that's what it does.
"Run!" The orc ordered "I may not be able to avoid killing you!"
The orc drew a cutlass and charged at Winter, raising the crimson blade above his head. Time seemed to slow down a little, and Winter could feel something trying to worm its way into her mind.

This feeling, it's the same as back then, she thought The life I rejected, strange that it should come to haunt me now.
She raised her arm and caught the blade of the orc's weapon.
"If there's a conscientious telling you to kill then tell it this from me," she said "You're wasting your time with me."
In an instant Winter tore the blade from the orc grasp and flung it aside carelessly, before striking the orc in the chest, winding him. Winter made no move as the creature slumped to the ground.
"You won't be able to move for a while, I'm afraid." She said "Hopefully you will have regained your self control by then."
She looked up towards a forest stained red by the light cast down by the moon, she could hear sounds of fighting and chaos erupting from there.

If I am to become the guardian of peace then I cannot allow this to pass lightly, she thought Threnody, forgive me. But I may have to resort to measures I would rather not achieve.
She turned and walked closer to where the fighting was taking place, ignoring the screams of the orc behind her.

Sargtlin Olath - December 23, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
Sargtlin stood watching as the area around them was bathed in red moonlight.
"Red?" he thought as he looked around, when suddenly movement caught his eye, the movement of the man that had gone out alone earlier. His eyes had turned to black pearls in his eye sockets, and the veins covering his body began to swell. His right hand instinctively went to the hilt of Barra as he watched the man, but to his surprised the man briefly looked at him and the woman before running off.
"What was that?" he thought before he heard a scream and a roar. He knew that they were close to the Orcs, and now the man had run straight into the middle of them. He was going to walk away, when he saw the woman run after him as well.
"The fools." he thought as he ran after the two of them, knowing that he was not making a wise decision, but he decided to anyway.

As he ran after the pair, he drew Barra and pulled his shield off of his back, attaching the leather straps to secure it. He shortly heard the woman speak and then float above a party of Orcs that had separated from the main group to kill her. As he ran to slice them open, he heard the girl cast an incantation of a spell, and shortly afterwards a shower of what seemed to be bright pebbles. He didn't care what they were as he saw all the Orcs drop to the ground dead or unconscious. He leapt past the bodies, hopping into the main fray. As he did, he cut off the head of one Orc from behind, and turned his body to open up the stomach of another, it's guts spilling out from the awful wound. He readied himself for the next attacks from the Orcs who many had quickly stepped back at his sudden kills and intimidating sight.

Star Dust - December 23, 2007 03:10 PM (GMT)
Stood on the ground, Stella watched as the male Drow hacked his way through the rest of the band. She watched open mouthed, then stared at her wand. She couldn't do anything else or risk hitting him. She stared at the scene, of cut limbs and spilled orc blood.

Soon the Orcs stepped away from in fear. "STEP BACK!" Stella shouted, and pointed her wand at the orcs. "SHOOTING STAR!" She shouted, a large bright light appearing from her wand. It broke free and shoot-ed at the Orc's, knocking them down, and blowing the ones it hit apart. She grinned in triumph, then fell to the floor, drained.

Some Orc's came from the tree's at the side of her, and Stella rose her wand feebly. "SHOOTING STAR!" She shouted, the light appearing, then suddenly dimming, then disappearing. Her had dropped and she let out a sigh. Her mana was almost empty. There was no way she could cast any more spells without a decent rest. She was now vulnerable.
