When she entered the Portal she was full of determination. Her mother would not get away with this. The had jumped through the Portal as soon as she landed OUT of it, thinking it would sender from whence she came. But it did not.
She landed in a strange wood, lit up by a massive tree-top city. It was bright and it was magical. Never had she seen such a place. Where Carina was from, NOTHING like this had ever been seen. Looking around in awe she noticed a creature walking. What was it? Hiding behind a tree she saw a band of more of this creatures. Where these the life forms here?
Carina was a shapeshifter. Closing her eyes, she morphed into the form of one of these creatures. An elf. Stepping from around the tree she was greeted carefully. They shook her hand and bowed to her. She was lead into the city where she was sat down and offered strange liquids, which when drank tasted like nothing she had ever before.
There seemed to be some sort of celebration, and she smiled as the elves frittered around, dancing, reading and singing, their voices like one big harmony, like honey. She closed her eyes and hummed along, the sound soothing. Before long she had picked up there language, and could talk fluently. She murmured a line of a famous Poem from her homeland.
"manke i' sul tol, amin nauva na, manke giliath cal, anim nauva na leitha, manke seorsa sa mi, sa mia yelien, tuulo' i' giliath utu miatan, ten'oio lantien"
((English: "Where the wind is, i will be, Where stars shine, I will be free, Where nature is true, Is my calling, From the stars i find myself, Forever falling."))
Walking through the beautiful city of Yomenïampa, Silimrial found it hard not to be happy. Despite the fact that her two brothers and her father were away at war, fighting to prevent the forces of Darkness overrunning Arda and its moon, she smiled.
As she walked she sung. She sung a song from her distant childhood. One that her mother had sung to her every night before she went to bed. Suddenly she heard another voice singing. She followed the voice and came upon a young elf. "Elen síla lumenn' omentielvo. Man eneth lín?" (A star shines upon the hour of our meeting. What is your name?)
Carina grinned. "Do you speak English?" She asked, then answered her question in English. "My name is Carina." She answered her, then bowed. The girl held her self like a Nobel, or like a Princess, and so she felt the need to bow. She stood back up then smiled again.
"I am new here, perhaps you can tell me where i can get some food and drink?" She asked, feeling slightly weak. "I haven't eaten or drank anything for a while, and I'm feeling quite weak." Changing forms took a lot out of her, and so Carina felt immensely weak. She turned and indicated to the city. "If i enter, will i be shot down?" She asked.
Switching effortlessly to the common tongue, Aranel Silimrial said, "Come, we shall get some food." She smiled at the newcomers next question. "Strangers are, shall we say, unwelcome in these lands. However, we are elves, we value life, we would not harm a single hair on the head of anyone who walks our lands without evil intent."
She led the unfamiliar elf through the city towards the Palace. "Here you shall find the finest food in all of Arda."
