EDITED March 28. Additions will appear as light blue for ease of finding.Prerequisites; 1.) Have been an active, advanced role-player for at least 3 weeks.I have, yes. Though it appears I only started today, I waited a while to apply for the position of advanced roleplayer and beyond that waited a short while for approval. I realize it is usually frowned upon to apply so quickly, but my character has been strongly developed (at least in my opinion) and has been around for a number of years.
2.) Post often in Arda.I try to post at least once a day, as I'm an active member in a large number of topics. Events have arisen in the past that have prevented me, and occasionally I'm left waiting for others, but normally I post as frequently as possible. (On a side note, my average is really low on my account. I think it's because I joined in October and didn't start using it until December, but I'm not completely sure.) One example of my posting frequency might be the postathon, or even the treasure trials, which I posted during as quickly as I could without sacrificing quality. (Within reason. A post talking about pulverizing hippos can only be so serious, after all. XD)
3.) You must exhibit a good knowledge of the rules of Arda and have NO warnings on your account that are less than 3 months old.I have yet to recieve any warnings, and I have a decent amount of knowledge. I've helped out a few people and posted a number of reviews. Beyond that, I'm also happy to post in the help forums if there is something I'm unclear about.
Lately I've been using the help forums more often, but I try to offset that by helping other members in their forums or with constructive criticism in character reviews. I'm usually happy to give an opinion in the Cbox as well. ^_^ ----------------------------------------------------
* What position are you applying for?Guardian of War.
* How often do you RP?Probably more frequently than is healthy.
I'm currently in thirteen roleplays, as a number of them have died or come to a halt. Some of them are very serious threads, such as the Call of the Wild or Of Varanidae, while others are less serious such as Mortal Kombat and Playing. If I'm not working on a response for a roleplay in Arda, I'm usually plotting it out. * Describe the important details of your character. For example, Zaber Slash's character often has his body possessed and that kind of thing. These are IMPORTANT details.One of the most defining things about Nathaniel is his utter hatred for any race other than human. He is constantly in the process of trying to annihilate the other races, and in the past lost his job over it. Currently he is in a plot where he's manipulating a scry into working for him. He also has a tendency to make quick decisions that are wrong and hinder him, and other times has a knack for getting lost in wooded areas. Nathaniel hears voices, but they are described as being more like the hiss of roaches; he can't understand it at all and it simply comes across as a sort of white noise.
Obviously Nathaniel enjoys the element of chaos, and typically the more chaotic the place he's in the more happy he is. Chaos does not have to refer to something evil, either; discordant music, mismatching clothing, even colours that contrast sharply stimulate his senses pleasantly. He tends to get anxious when he waits around in a place that is plain and simple, not caring to stick around long. It's possible on a subconscious level this is why he always returns to forestry and such, though it'd never cross the front of his mind.
Naturally, he is very arrogant and self-assured. Most times this leads to ignorance, and offending other characters. He naturally assumes they are just moody cretins, rather than accept he is at fault. * Why do you think that you would be good for this position?I believe I would be good for this position because I'm very active and I have a lot of ideas for the role. I personally am very approachable and friendly, so anyone who would want to play with him could. I believe Nathaniel himself would be perfect for the role because he is currently trying to cause a war. In most of my topics references can be seen to him trying to build up his army, which he wishes to do before outright attacking all the races. As I'm involved with so many roleplayers, I think it'd be easy to sweep up a great number of PCs into topics regarding it, so that the army could more or less be in the hands of other players, instead of solely run by a single character.
I feel Nathaniel would be especially good for this because he maintains something of a balance in his personality, which you would expect in a war. Fine hair line cracks that imply he may not be all there (Authmaelui would be prone to 'war fever' when he devoured the slain, which would be rather frightening no doubt), but still enough to trick others into believing he was sane. * How will you fulfill your role as guardian if your application is accepted? When I ask this, I kind of mean to ask what will you do with the position if it's accepted? What will be your character's continuing goals and challenges? How will it affect your character's storyline? Feel free to elaborate on the many ways your character would be affected by such a change.
I have been thinking about this for over a month. I believe that if Nathaniel received the position, he would realize just how weak and pety humans were. The war on inhumans would be brought to a conclusion, where Nathaniel would appear to 'die' in front of some of his most loyal men, like Skertin. With that false death, he would no longer be shackled to the battle.
From here, Nathaniel would become more of a pupeteer. From the shadows he would whisper in the ears of others, beckoned by violence and whispering in the ears of men to seek their deepest desires. From the side lines he could whisper in the ears of the humans and inhumans, the light and dark, and a thousand other enemies. It wouldn't be about one side winning over the other; merely that there were two sides clashing.
To ensure this, he would adopt different forms, names, etc. (I would purchase a spell for this). He would adopt the name 'Authmaelui' most prominently, but be known as Vicus, Donbe, and many other names. If push came to shove he would masquerade as a medic, or a lieutenant, to give armies the faith they needed to attack their enemies. Then, when they were too knee-deep to pull out, he would disappear.
Over time he would come to realize that the Life Cycle also contains death. And death has a nasty habit of ending wars. So he would try to start a war against Loth (sorry! :lol:), in which paladins and others could be made to see the hypocritic ways and try to fight back.
Finally, he'd probably become somewhat cannibalistic, performing the ritual of devouring the body parts of particularly powerful slain men so that he could injest their abilities. He wouldn't actually get them, but it would develop a blood/flesh lust on his part.
So, yeah. Essentially; manipulate wars from both sides, eliminate death (or find a way around it). That is what I think would happen. Possibly the seduction of a Guardian of Peace if/when one is elected, as peace can lead to even greater conflicts if employed at the right moment. There'd be no love for anyone or thing, just a desire to manipulate and use, then discard like a broken toy when it became boring or failed to please him. Even former allies would be shrugged off. ---On the magic/familiar side of things, I think it'd be cool to have a few more war beasts, perhaps blacksmiths you can hire, and more blood-centric magic. I think bloodshed is one of the prime results of war, so it'd be wicked cool if you could have control and manipulation possibilities through magic spells. Just a few things I thought might be cool include;
Helm of Revelations; Lets wearer see aura, revealing element
Shield of Revelations; Like a steel shield with a glossy front that almost looks like a mirror or glass, which changes different colours depending on the alignment of who struck it last.
Sword of Revelations; Pools of blood touched by this change colour to represent one of the races of Arda. It can't change the blood inside of a living body, but a dead one without circulation could theoretically be changed. Also, when slashed with this blade the blood that comes away on it would be the colour of the creature's race.
Boots of Revelations; These boots change to represent the class of those who wear them. A noble wearing them would have royal looking boots of rich colours, while a fighter would have plated boots. Etc., etc. They cannot be customized, though there is always something unique to the wearer so if two nobles were wearing it the boots would be slightly different between them. Though revealing for whoever wears them, by convincing someone else to wear them you learn their nature. Walk a mile in another's shoes, as they say.
Alternatively, these boots will allow you to mimic other classes.
Cloak of Revelations; When worn you can 'change' one aspect of the above things temporarily. Though you will not receive any benefits (you cannot suddenly spew fire) others will automatically accept you are what you are portraying yourself as, no matter how suspicious (a good-aligned in Drital, for example)
Armor of Revelations; A very powerful armor, depending on what else from the set you are currently using it can half damage taken from certain genders, classes, alignments, etc.
Gauntlets of Revelations; Allows you to use opposite-aligned items. (Evil-aligned using Holy Staff, for example)
```````
Elephant - A large beast not unlike the Calaring Mammoth, though it is smaller and shorter. With its two tusks it can gore enemies, or alternatively it can charge/trample. Its trunk is extremely sensitive and attacks there can usually make it flee. They are fickle and prone to injuring masters for no apparent reason. It can seat three people comfortably.
Elephant Barding - Elephant barding includes armor protecting the trunk and a helm, along with a large sheeting over its back where someone can sit. Optionally a 'carriage' can be affixed there for others to sit in. The carriage allows for four people.
Superior Barding - The same as elephant barding, but there are plates affixed to the legs for extra damage, spikes on the covering of the trunk, and two additional "false" tusks that extend out from the armor.
Rhino - A fairly large beast that is not unlike a smaller version of the elephant. It can also charge/trample enemies or gore them with its horn(s). Rhinos can have either one or two horns, and aren't particularly smart. They are more loyal than the elephant, but don't do nearly as much damage. It can seat one rider.
Rhino Barding - Rhino barding includes a helmet to protect the face, and armor over the back and shoulders. The helmet has two horns that come down from the sides of the face plate, giving it an extra kick when it tries to gore enemies. Additionally, the barding can have swords or poles inserted in the sides so that they hang out and can knock down multiple enemies/structures as they charge by.
Superior Barding - Weaponry barding is the same as the other, but this barding has sockets along the sides and can have swords or poles inserted in the sides so that they hang out and can knock down multiple enemies/structures as they charge by. A large canon is also mounted on its back, and two sacks hang from the side filled with up to four canon balls. It takes a long time to recharge, and it runs the risk of frightening the rhino into doing a roll to get it off.
Manta - A massive aquatic creature that looks like a flattened fish. Though blind, the manta has a large mouth with over thirty rows of teeth, allowing its prey to be sawed in half when it latches on. Its tail is also spiked, which allows for minor damage if it hits an enemy. The manta is typically docile but can be trained to be vicious. The fact they have no eyes means that they can be very hazardous if not used carefully.
Manta Weaponry - The back of a manta can be equipped with something of a saddle, and a mock brittle and reigns also exist. As they are not very agile or sharp with their movements, the backs can be equipped with carriages holding barrels containing a mixture of petroleum and crude oil-- essentially underwater bombs.
Aurochs - A massive bull-like animal renowned for being vicious and difficult to control. They can tear through men with their massive horns and powerful hooves, but they have no concept of ally or cunning. They cannot be trained and attack as soon as they see a moving target, leading to auroch trainers typically blindfolding and binding them.
~~
Blood Hound - A dog that resembles a greyhound and requires little sustenance. They are renowned for their sharp sense of smell, and can be trained to hunt down specific races. Their poor sight and small frames make them poor fighters, however.
Elder Blood Hound - A larger version of the blood hound, they are capable of warding off small foxes and other smaller animals and raise about hip height on a full grown male. Their sense of smell is sharper, and tales abound of them being capable to hunt down specific elements.
Blood Mare - A large horse that is entirely red, including its eyes. It is said to be one of the swiftest horses, though has an ill temprament. It will never work for a good aligned master.
Elder Blood Mare - The same as the blood mare, though it is more demonic. It has a single horn protruding from the snout and a number of spikes protrude down along the back of its neck. Due to this it does not have a mane. This horse will not transform into the Ancient form if its master is not evil-aligned.
Ancient Blood Mare - The eldest form of the blood mares, this horse also has twin feathery wings and two horns protruding from its head to complete the nightmare-ish look. This horse is said to be capable of dissolving into pools of blood and emerging elsewhere. This horse is always evil-aligned and won't work for a master who is not evil as well.
~~
Hatred -- Make one target temporarily turn on allies.
Superior Hatred -- Make all enemies within a fifty foot radius temporarily turn on each other.
Loyalty -- Force one enemy to temporarily ally to your cause.
Superior Loyalty -- Force all enemies within a fifty foot radius to temporarily ally to your cause.
Bloodbath -- Inspire everyone with a fifty foot radius to try and kill the closest target, regardless if they are enemies or not. Caster is not affected by this spell, though is open to attack by nearby victims of the spell.
Minor Blood Bond -- Allows caster to taint their blood so that those who drink it become allies with the caster for a time.
Blood Bond -- Allows caster to taint their blood for a time so that those who drink it become allies and are not willing to directly attack the caster unless under severe circumstances (survival, for example). Usually they will follow any reasonable commands presented to them, and feel a strong friendship towards the caster.
Major Blood Bond -- Allows caster to taint their blood so that those who drink it fall entirely under their command for a time, worshiping the very ground they walk on and willing to follow alost any command and suffer a false love bond. They are unable to harm the caster while under the effects of this spell, and usually aren't aware the feelings they have are false.
Most of these have to do with loyalty/hatred, and I think it'd be nifty to involve them. Obviously it'd be a ton of work though, so... yeah. I totally appreciate you reading them, anyways. XD (And yes I know I'm a total geek for drawing pictures and writing stuff like that when I should have been doing civics.)
* and give me several examples of your RP skills. Please give at least 4 links to RPs you've done in Arda. They must be links to Arda topics, I no longer want to sift through quotes or links to other forums.Tournament Round 2; Search for the Sanguine Cross -- My biggest posts on Arda, and some of my strongest. Nathaniel's clear human weaknesses are shown, even considering the circumstances. He has to rely on cunning just to know what the words on the paper are, much less what they mean. It involves a lot of detective work on his part, including eating a piece of the paper.
Try-Outs for Phedre's Elite -- Some of my stronger posts, and in it Nathaniel explains why he believes he is a powerful fighter. Also shown in the first post is his distaste for cruelty, shown by his mental assertion that Thayet must be a coward for bullying small butterflies. There's a lot of irony involved in that decision.
This is My RoomThis is to show how Nathaniel likes to jump to conclusions about people. At the time the posts were made I wasn't aware Vauduex had actually originally been a thief. XD There is also reference to his army in it.
Your Cities Will BurnI feel my posts in here very clearly show Nathaniel's personality; a rather arrogant, somewhat controlling figure. He's decided everyone is wrong and that Ita is really his injured friend, and has decided to lure her to Lomedor in hopes of finding her some herbalist to help with the poison he believes she's ingested. His alliance to her is interesting because Tithdaeron is not allied with her, so Nathaniel may have to choose one over the other in the future. (Presently he isn't aware they dislike one another.)
BlackFlame vs. Voice of ChaosI'm very proud of my posts here, and I feel they reflect my ability. In it, cunning has to be used to defeat the powerful duo of Wraith and Jupiter. To meet this challenge, Jade and Nathaniel are forced to become allies and work as one efficient unit. I feel it was accomplished, as the metaphor of a two headed snake arises. There is also a lot of imagery that I'm happy with in it, and I feel the damage ratio (that which he was able to give out versus that which he received) was fair given who he was and who he was up against.
TensionOnly one post so far, but I still think it reflects my writing ability accurately. It also illustrates a more human and realistic side to Nathaniel, as he's worried about his familiar. Worthy of note as well is the avoidance of controlling Tithdaeron's character in the past, and instead leaving what was said implied.
So, yeah. Thanks for reading! ^_^ Happy belated Valentines Day!
