Description: Private 500 word minium

Cualeden Nefridit - December 5, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Cualeden pulled himself out of the small boat, his feet splashing in the blood warm salt water, causing it to splash in his face. He looked back at the grizzled old man who had sailed him across, giving him a friendly wave, signaling him to leave. The man glared at him, as if expecting more. "Oh," Cualeden muttered, reaching deep in his pocket, to pull out several gold coins. He tossed them at the sailor, and approached the small boat again. "Sorry good sir, but why am I paying in advance?," Cualeden questioned, a confused look spread across his face. "In case you don't come back," the man grizzled, as he began to paddle back towards the town closest to the shore. "Thank you!," Cualeden shouted at the man as he slowly paddled away. "Remember, two days and then you pick me up!," he roared, at the speck in the distance.

Cualeden pulled his spell book close to him, along with his staff, trudging through the clear waters, in attempt to reach the sugary sanded shores. The shore was rather big, and it lead to a large jungle. A tropical bird screeched its song at the sky, giving the island an ominous feeling. Cualeden scanned the shore, in attempt to spot any items of interest. It was littered with pieces of driftwood, along with broken hulls of ships scattered along the shore. Cualeden approached one near the forest, glancing at it. "Hmm," he thought aloud, since he was alone ", this wood appears to be nonnative to this part of the land. This must be a boat part as well. And judging by the cuts here, its head. The island must have frequent scavengers."

"No wonder that village called it Scavenger's Island," he added a small smirk on his face. He gripped his staff tighter, despite his effort to be cheery. " He recalled his attempts to find out the facts of the island, in search of another scholar to at least share some of his/her personal experiences of the island.

Cualeden entered a small pub, a happy look across his face. According to his research from the town library, he was close to Haudhiaur Island, a exotic island filled with interesting things available for research. The book had mentioned that exotic birds swarmed the island, along with hordes of buzzing insects and reptiles. Even large mammals, like monkeys and boars were spotted on the shores of the island, not to mention the plethora of plants that were on the island. Now, since he had decided to make a two day stop on the island for research, he needed some one to take him there. The pub would be the best place.

He approached a young sailor, who looked like he had a lot of experience at sea. "Greetings," Cualeden piped in a happy voice ", I was wondering you could ferry me to Haudhiaur Island for some research. The sailor snorted, and returned to his dirty glass. "I'm serious, my friend," Cualeden chimed in a desperate attempt to find a ride to the island. "Pirates, 'my friend', pirates. They loot the island constantly. You'll most likely run into them. You'll do best finding a rid from Jerkeo. He has a small paddle boat, and for some gold, or ale, he'll ship ya any where." "Thank you," Cualeden said in a pleased voice. "Any directions to this Jerkeo?" "Over there," the sailor grumbled, pointing to the opposite corner.

Cualeden walked over to the corner, and faced Jerkeo, with a smile on his face. "Would you take me to Haudhiaur Island?," he questioned. "Yeah, twenty gold," he muttered. "Why thank you," Cualeden exclaimed.

The man had been very straight forward, and granted him the right to sail aboard his tiny boat. And now he was on the island, ready to do some research. He looked towards the jungle, knowledge overwhelming him. "Well," he sighed, filled with joy about his research, that was soon to come ", lets start at the border of the jungle." He approached the border, and sat himself at a rock, and picked a bright blue flower from a tree, and began to record some observations.

(Sorry, I'm never good at beginning :xmassad: )
